Samsung Galaxy S4 VZW - ROOT for UEMK2 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

What's up guys? I hate to take up space by asking a question but I've searched the forums and have found no relevant information regarding a ROOT method for the S4 on Verizon Build UEMK2..
I have found methods clearly labeled for 3 other Verizon builds of the S4 but none for mine.
If a ROOT method exists for my build could someone please post a link (or two) or even go over the process here?
I've seen some methods or ROOTING in a few of the ROM threads but still, none match my model/build.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Any good links on a stock mk2 image? The links I've tried timeout part way through the download.. I rooted mk2 and ran some xposed mods that screwed up wifi among other things. Now it reboots randomly and is laggier than an og Droid razr.

[Root Question] Samsung Galaxy S4

I just bought a new Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 and its running android 4.3 [MJ7] and after some research here and there I've found that ppl managed to keep rooted while updating to this version but what can I do in my case to root my device and install a custom ROM like the following http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2524644 since I already purchase the phone like that. Sorry if this might have already been posted or something...I've done some research ut I'm not quite familiar with the XDA-Forums. Once Again! Thank you!

so far for MJ7 root there is only a method that is frowned upon at the moment called VRoot.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2511815
i reccomend reading the entire thread before attempting that method because its still up in the air on how safe it is. it has been confirmed working by several people though.
at the moment all you can do is root mj7 you cannot replace the bootloader and install custom roms unless a method came out overnight which i am unaware of. safestrap is not yet supported for mj7 either.
Thank you! I will definitely take a close look to VRoot and see how it goes.

[Q] CWM recovery and CM 11 for Verizon GS4 MK2?

Has anyone tried CWM on Verizon gs4 MK2 yet?
Looks like Cyanogen may be claiming a nightly mod ready at this link - http://wccftech.com/install-cm11-nightly-android-4-4-on-verizon-galaxy-s4/
I'm currently rooted and have safestrap recovery (thanks Hashcode!).
Would like to load this mod but want to know if anyone has done this with safestrap in a ROM slot yet. Or if CWM is required and if it works with VRUEMK2.
Looking for a good step by step as still very much a noob.
Thanks

I tried the MD5 verification upon install and it fails, only goes through when you uncheck it. I kind of thought the verification could be the problem. Do you have a link or website I can get HD 12 with a valid MD5 file?

Not tied to install...The md5 needs to be checked on the downloaded file...downloading can corrupt large files and u need to run a md5 checker on it. The md5 checksum is posted at the file hosting site u dloaded from.

[Q] S4 verizon I545VRUDMG7 root help

Hi,
I went through all the form to root my S4 verizon(unlocked) but nothings related to MG7 baseband??
my baseband version is MG7 is it different than others?? i coudnt find any post related to this version
Main problem is KNOX security is installed in my phone in system directory,
KNOX preventing me from root access(when i tried super user app i am getting a notification ""An application has been forced to stop for an unauthorized attempt to access system in your device"),
so i tried to uninstall the KNOX but I need a root privilage to uninstall it. I stuck in the loop.
after I found to bypass the KNOX I should use the certified application to get into root. (i may be wrong i am not sure) is their any way for me to root and install cynagenMod ?? or if helped in uninstalling KNOX i can root it.
Thanks in Advance.
FYI: BaseBand version is I545VRUDMG7 its verizon and unlocked now using AT&T

Are you sure it's MG7 and not MJ7? I did a quick Google search for I545VRUDMG7 and the only thing I found were the posts you created on this and other sites.

Maybe some sort of test build? Did you purchase the phone used? Generally S4 build numbers have followed a pattern. The second letter generally indicates a date, I believe. That's why MDK was most likely a May 2013 build, ME7 was a June 2013 build, etc. So this may be somewhere in between ME7 and MI1. I would say this device could be a rare gem and may even provide more information towards a BL exploit.

Wait you dont have root on this? Try saferoot or any of the root methods we have they should work. Next it would be helpful if you sent me your bootloaders would you be willing to help us? Also please refrain from installing Cyanogenmod for a little bit until I can get some of the partitions from your device. Also don't upgrade the baseband yet either please.
There was a reason they didnt release this build. It would be helpful to know why I need to analyze the bootloaders from this build. I hope you read this soon and above all else do NOT update your phone!

accidentally let it update to 4.3, how do I root my phone now?

I think I might have accidentally let my VZW Note II accidentally update to 4.3. (although I swear that it did it by itself without my permission. or it that not possible? I have denied it for a long time)
Anyway, what are the chances of rooting the phone now? How do I root it?

Rooting can be done using Saferoot and framaroot and others.
But be advised as said previously. . This will not allow you to have a custom recovery like TWRP, Philz or CWM and install custom roms! Unless it has a unlocked bootloader. As of now theres no simple friendly way to do this anymore. Only solution is to have mobiletechvideos downgrade your chip and send it out to them for a service fee. There highly recommended on here for doing this. Hopefully a fix will be released soon as many people are working on this.
Good luck

You got the answers on rooting, I would just add that yes after a period of time of you denying the update it will just do it on its own. In the future root and freeze the update program. In this case SDM 1.0

XDA developer h311sdr0id made a post a while back to help out with rooting the sch-i605 on 4.3. You can find his post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2608827
I'm still on 4.1.2, so I haven't had to use it yet, but this seems to be the method that a lot of other people are using to root their devices on 4.3.
Thanks to k1mu for posting the root method and h311sdr0id for pointing it out for the Note 2.

You can use titanium backup and restore apps. You can also download xposed framework and there are some random mods with that and you can also disable ads with ad blockers. Honestly that's pretty much all I use it for. I'm pretty upset this happened to me. THis thread tells how to partially downgrade ti MK2 (4.3) where you can root, then upgrade back to NC5 (4.4.2).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2726868
You don't flash the MK2 bootloader only the system, then you root and install SafeStrap.
Read the instructions.
If you have issues or reservations using ODIN to flash your phone, don't do it.
Anyway........

where on xda website? should I just click on a random thread? how do I know which one is right one?
If you go to the general section you can find the information you need literally in the first few threads. They say how to root in the title. The one thing that might be confusing is your starting point. Go to settings about phone then look at the last three letters under build number. With that info you can easily figure out what method you need to use by looking at the first page of the general section. Nc5 is the latest 4.4.2 kitkat version of android released for the s4.
