I just connected my Tablet to the dock and it is charging the tablet from the dock. It is not connected to any power source (the charger) so is this normal?
Yes, that is the point. You empty tablet's battery, you dock it, leave it, and than you can undock half-full tablet
By design. It would be a waste to have the tablet run out of charge with charge left in the dock because this would prevent you from disconnecting them. You want the dock to empty first leaving maximum charge in the tablet in case you want to ditch the dock.
as title says, does anyone know when does docking station start charging the tablet? cause ive noticed that even when my tablet is at like 75% while keyboard is at 90% its not charging the tablet
A little searching would tell you that your tablet won't begin charging until it's reached 70%.
ahhh kk, mmm guess ill have to test this then
If your cable is plugged into your dock and the tablet connect to the dock, the tablet will charge first, once the tablet is fully charged the dock then charges, ive also noticed, if my tablet is on low power and the dock is charged, the dock charges the tablet moving its charge to the tablet, COOL!!!
I wonder if dock charging tab is an OK thing in terms of not shortening batery life in future ... does anyone have any info on this?
HELLO my TPRIME keyboard is not charging the tablet charges up to 100% but as i type my TPRIME keyboard is at 15% while the tablet is at 100% & both are connected and plugged to the charger i even deleted battery stats if anyone has this problem or knows how to fix this please respond THANK YOU
Lol, breathe, calm down, and learn how paragraphs work.
You are saying you have the prime docked on the keybord dock and the usb cable plugged into the dock. The prime says its charging but the dock does not say its charging?
Have prime docked. Prime should say its charging from the keyboard dock even if the dock is not plugged in.
Plug in charger to dock. Prime should notify that the dock is charging.
Now if you plug the charger into the dock there should be a light by the charging port that glows showing the dock is, in fact, charging. do you see this light? Does it glow when the charger is connected?
If the dock charge indicator does NOT glow and you know you are getting power from the charger then i suggest trying to get a refund or replacment for your dock as it seems to be malfunctioning.
Hopefully this helped. hit the thanks button if it did!
hello PILEOT thank you i understand what you explained but i have another friend who has a TF201 and the same thing happed to his prime i spoke to him he told me that he purchased a new charging plug and it solved the issue so ordered a couple of new plugs because the one i have i bought it and its a usb apadter plug im also going to call ASUS the only problem is i unlocked my bootloader that may be a problem but im not going to mention that fact thank you
I just got a dock and had a question about charging it. Do I charge it when it's connected to the Prime? My Prime is at 70% and the dock is at 10%.
I personally charge both at a time however if im playing a game on the tablet or something and my dock is getting low i'll charge the dock on its own and put my prime on it when im done what im doing.
After hearing all the problems people are having with the dock connection on the prime i think its best not to stress it out by putting the USB cable to it unless i need to.
So it's not bad charging them together if the Prime still has a decent charge left?
It's not "bad". It will just simply charge your prime to 100% then begin to charge your dock
So I noticed that when I have gear on dock but dock unplugged my battery stays at 100%. Is the dock also some what of a portable charger?

i also think the same way , but not sure about it , because if we plug the dock the battery will have charge icon.
OK I found out the charging cradle does have a battery and will provide a small charge without being plugged in. You can also connect the cradle to phone using special cable (sorta kinda special). The dock has about a 350m battery same as the gear itself. It's not much but I think it's a cool little gimmick.
I'm going to say yes because the dock has a charge light on it next to the microUSB port. If you notice it'll be Blue if you keep the dock plugged in for a while but red if you plug it in and it's been unplugged for a while.
well then thank you for the info , so we can charge it anywhere
Yes confirmed the dock will charge. I use it when watch is fully charged to keep it at 100%.
its in the user manual..the dock is a battery
According to the manual, it will charge the Gear S up to about 50% only.
The Gear S has a 300mAh battery, while the dock has 350mAh.

Use the charging dock to charge the battery in your Gear S. The charging dock also contains a battery. Take care not to lose the dock.

Utterly amazing that people would own a device as sophisticated as the Gear S and NOT read the manual???
Maybe you would discover the setting for making breakfast and washing the car!
