[Q] Froyo device doing weird app substitution thing. Help? (short video) - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys I didn't want to bore you with having to read a ton of words so here's a quick video I made. Please watch and help me with my problem.

Also just so you know I've tried to root the device with Gingerbreak, doesn't work.

Bump... Any ideas anyone? I'm looking for a solution, perhaps through Tasker, or something. Or if anyone has any ideas on how to disable this stock app, or on how to root this thing and uninstall it?
I was thinking maybe use Tasker to automate a 'back' button press whenever the stock music app launches, but that would just make things more complicated when using other apps. Plus it wouldn't stop the stock app from killing gplay music while it's playing.

[Q] News app misbehaves... can it be disabled?

I installed Watchdog Lite on my Tbolt and it constantly tells me that the News app is overstepping its bounds CPU-wise. I tell the monitor to kill the app but it starts back up again of its own accord.
Is there any way to disable this app without rooting my phone? Or even WITH rooting my phone? I'm not even using it anymore.

if you are rooted, titanium backup and 'freeze' the app or delete it completely.
but i would also check to make sure under sync settings it isnt set to sync.
You can try startup auditor and disable the app... if its a system app, I wouldnt touch it.
Thanks to you both for the suggestions. I've made sure it isn't syncing, and I installed the free version of Startup Auditor and sicced it on the app. We'll see what happens...
either uninstall it, or root and use titanium back up to freeze it.
Just to follow up, the News app hasn't been an issue since I took those measures earlier today. Thanks to all!
just wondering, what kind of readings were you getting from the app?

It was basically telling me that the app was exceeding CPU-usage limits. I don't recall noting quantitative information. Didn't really care, I just didn't want it sucking up battery for no reason.
what is the news app called in /system/app/ i cannot find it.
Dunno... I can't find it either.
Htc changed it now... Try htcgreader.apk **backup incase you come across a problem** i remember on my incredible there might be some sense stuff that relies on that apk....just saying..
yeah, like the weather.apk is required to view specific dates in the calander
Hi all...TBolt newbie here. I think the "news" app is bloatware as it was already installed with many other apps on my Verizon TBolt. Like an idiot, I subscribed to several news sources and now cannot remove them and the app continues to ask at numerous random times for more sources. I've tried killing the task with ES Task Manager, but it keeps re-initializing itself. Hopefully there's some way of getting rid of this intrusive piece of crapware, short of rooting or custom ROM, which I have no idea how to do!

[Q] [APP] Tasker to perform app actions?

Hey guys!
I wanted to play around with the Tasker app and got the idea to automate Google Play Music with it.
In one of the latest updates for GPM there is an Option to only show my downloaded content.
So what I wanted to do was to automatically switch to "downloaded content only" when my phone
disconnects from any wifi network and switch back to "everything" when my phone connects to wifi.
I have not found an option to perform in-app-actions like that in Tasker but i have found the option to run scripts.
Since i'm not really into scripts and programming i'd like to ask if there is anybody here who can help me with that.
Thanks in advance!

Help deodexed phone and message app taking so long to launch

Is it just me? The deodexed phone app and message app of mine is taking about 10seconds to launch no joke.
Use your stopwatch record 10 seconds, that's how long it take. Other deodexed app don't has this problem only Phone and Message app
I thought it was caused by the new application that I've installed, after uninstall them, it's just the same.
What should I do? How to solve this problem?
Please don't suggest third party app, I want to know root cause and the right solution
bump, I really need to fix it. Is it me only?
Don't know what should I do, we can't keep 1 or 2 odex apps with other deodexed apps isn't it?
Found the culprit:
<CscFeature_IMS_EnableVoLTE>true</CscFeature_IMS_EnableVoLTE>

One app launches several other apps (question)

Hello all.
If this is in the wrong category, please let me know or move it. I'm sorry in advance.
Since about a month i have a chinese android device in my car. Works well enough, but it has its annoyances. One of them is that the FM tuner app doesn't always start by itself and i would like to get other apps to start when it wakes up, such as Torque etc. In its custom build firmware there is a setting to set the default navigation app and that always launches any app i set in there, so that got me thinking find an app that would just start the apps i need it to start. Annoyingly this seems harder than it is. I've tried several auto starters from the Play Store, but none seem to be able to launch the apps i need it to launch when it wakes up (key in ignition/starting the car.)
I don't really want to root the device because i'm not really finding good info on this device and rooting it. I don't want to take risks. I've been looking into making my own app that would just launch a list of apps i want to to start and set that app in the device settings as the navigation app effectively tricking it into thinking that is the navigation app, but it actually would launch a bunch of apps i need it to launch, including a navigation app, obviously.
Having said all that, i'm about as useful as a trapdoor in a kanu when it comes to android programming, i am a complete noob and don't really find anything i can use.
So my question; would somebody be able to write something like that and maybe publish it? I am obviously willing to compensate you for your time.
Thanks in advance.
Try AutoStart what doesn't require Android is rooted.

Question I cant avoid Android 13 to kill apps

Hello everybody,
Recently I updated to Android 13 and as the title says, I cant avoid an app to be killed. Its a music app called AIMP and I used to have always working because I like it to start each time I start driving my car or if I use headphones or a BT speaker. Ive tried it all and before you tell me I checked all https://dontkillmyapp.com/oneplus solutions and Nothing has worked, it keeps killing that app no matter what I do.
Can it be something about the app? I contacted AIMP developers and they pointed me to that page so Im a bit lost now.
Can anyone help? thx
I have something similar with YouTube in background. You can try lock app and turn off optimalization.
I already tried it and still being killed.
Maybe this stupid ram management ++ option settings - in 13, intelligent something ..
Ive found it but still killing the app. Guys from AIMP told me to install a new version thing that i did but still the same problem.
