Is it just me? The deodexed phone app and message app of mine is taking about 10seconds to launch no joke.
Use your stopwatch record 10 seconds, that's how long it take. Other deodexed app don't has this problem only Phone and Message app
I thought it was caused by the new application that I've installed, after uninstall them, it's just the same.
What should I do? How to solve this problem?
Please don't suggest third party app, I want to know root cause and the right solution
bump, I really need to fix it. Is it me only?
Don't know what should I do, we can't keep 1 or 2 odex apps with other deodexed apps isn't it?
Found the culprit:

I installed Watchdog Lite on my Tbolt and it constantly tells me that the News app is overstepping its bounds CPU-wise. I tell the monitor to kill the app but it starts back up again of its own accord.
Is there any way to disable this app without rooting my phone? Or even WITH rooting my phone? I'm not even using it anymore.

if you are rooted, titanium backup and 'freeze' the app or delete it completely.
but i would also check to make sure under sync settings it isnt set to sync.
You can try startup auditor and disable the app... if its a system app, I wouldnt touch it.
Thanks to you both for the suggestions. I've made sure it isn't syncing, and I installed the free version of Startup Auditor and sicced it on the app. We'll see what happens...
either uninstall it, or root and use titanium back up to freeze it.
Just to follow up, the News app hasn't been an issue since I took those measures earlier today. Thanks to all!
just wondering, what kind of readings were you getting from the app?

It was basically telling me that the app was exceeding CPU-usage limits. I don't recall noting quantitative information. Didn't really care, I just didn't want it sucking up battery for no reason.
what is the news app called in /system/app/ i cannot find it.
Dunno... I can't find it either.
Htc changed it now... Try htcgreader.apk **backup incase you come across a problem** i remember on my incredible there might be some sense stuff that relies on that apk....just saying..
yeah, like the weather.apk is required to view specific dates in the calander
Hi all...TBolt newbie here. I think the "news" app is bloatware as it was already installed with many other apps on my Verizon TBolt. Like an idiot, I subscribed to several news sources and now cannot remove them and the app continues to ask at numerous random times for more sources. I've tried killing the task with ES Task Manager, but it keeps re-initializing itself. Hopefully there's some way of getting rid of this intrusive piece of crapware, short of rooting or custom ROM, which I have no idea how to do!
Hey guys, over the past week and a bit I've been getting these advertising notifications in my notification area.
So far they have been trying to get me to download some games, and im assuming that the notifications are being cause by a game/app i have installed.
It can be pretty tricky to keep track of all the updates i do, and i dont always read the change logs for stuff like this.
So i was hoping that someone would recognise these notifications, and hopefully tell me what game/app they are caused by - so i can uninstall it.
Screen shots attached.
Thanks a lot for any help.
down load air push app from market.
it will tell you what app is causing the notification, then delete it
You can install "Addons Detector" or "AirPush Detector" from the market, they will tell you which application have those notification.
[EDIT: I was writing when thorur published the answer. No intention to steal a good answer ]
These notifications are usually caused by dodgy wallpaper apps or games.
You can download Addons Detector (Market Link) or AirPush Detector (Market Link) to find the source app.
great! thanks a lot for the tips guys, ill check out those apps and try to monitor what is causing the notifications.
Ill let you know how i go.
thanks again.
This happened to me once. It was from an app I downloaded from the Market. I found out it was pushing ads to my notification bar by reading the reviews later on. I removed the app but the notifications kept coming.
I was lucky that I was just about to flash another ROM at the time so doing a full wipe helped solve the problem I guess.
ddoublee,
that's not very encouraging. I uninstalled the app i though was responsible - Sketch Me Pro - But i am stilling getting the advertisements.
So now i need to try to figure out if it is another app causing them - or something else.
probably more trouble than its worth.
cheers.
-------EDIT-----
I have just noticed that all the ads are for games from the same developer - and i have one of these games installed.
RAIDEN-Sky Force Ace is the game i have installed. Hopefully removing it will remove the ads.
Note - the addons (as detected by Addons Detector) for this game are Fortumo and PayPal - listed as developer tools.
So i removed the game, and a lingering notification disapeared immediately.
thanks for your help guys.
Can anyone identify permissions the app would required for sending notifications to the notification bar like this? something to look out for in the future.
cheers.
i would use a custom rom that supports pdroid to get rid of this notifications without deleting games. Also use Droidwall to prevent some games or apps to get access to internet!
Is your phone rooted?
Do you have ClockWorkMod?
A quick solution would be to back up all your contacts and apps and clear the cache/factory reset through ClockWorkMod restore everything and see if you still get the ads pushed.

I've searched around and haven't found anything like this so I'm posting to see if my fellow XDA GN3 users might be experiencing something similar.
Whenever I press on an email link either nothing happens or the it crashes the Android System.
It is most apparent in the Gmail app; I press on an email link expecting it to open a new reply window but instead it locks up for a second then it prompts me with a "Unfortunately, Android System has stopped." notification. If I long press on the email then I get the "options menu" Nova Launcher provided.
When I press a email link in the Chrome app it simply doesn't do anything, no crash, no gmail reply window... Just nothing.
I'm curious what is causing this instability. Is it Nova Launcher (suspect)? Is it Gmail? Is it something else?
Has anybody experienced this or anything similar? Any solutions?
I tried clearing the cache and data but that didn't work. I'm open to any suggestions.
Edit: Submitted report to Google, could be a Gmail issue.

This is correct.
Rooted, TWRP, DeOdexed Stock ROM
What other apps have you noticed crashing? Have you any clues on whats causing it?
I'm aware that we're in the testing phase of development, some things are going to be unstable.
So far the issues I've noticed aren't a big deal to me, it is just nice have everything fully functioning, operational.

I'm also running Freeza's rooted stock DeOdex ROM and have noticed that the native email app is VERY unstable. I set up my account manually so did not do a restore or anything else. I know about the issues with restoring apps from TiBu, but Viperboy has applied a bandaid fix with his TB Restore Fixer app, which I used when I restored my apps. Wondering if restoring apps is causing some kind of issue with the native email app?
Did either of you restore apps when you started noticing this? Again, this, for me, is ONLY an issue with the native email app; I've not experienced an issue with any other apps (that I know or or can tell).
My gmail crashes everytime I click on a Facebook link. Weird.

Nope, I only just minutes ago created my first Titanium Backup... My issue seems pretty isolated to Gmail (clicking any email address link) so far, I haven't noticed any other apps acting up. I'm just long pressing the link till I get the option to send mail, rather than short press and crash the system.
Hey guys I didn't want to bore you with having to read a ton of words so here's a quick video I made. Please watch and help me with my problem.

Also just so you know I've tried to root the device with Gingerbreak, doesn't work.
Bump... Any ideas anyone? I'm looking for a solution, perhaps through Tasker, or something. Or if anyone has any ideas on how to disable this stock app, or on how to root this thing and uninstall it?
I was thinking maybe use Tasker to automate a 'back' button press whenever the stock music app launches, but that would just make things more complicated when using other apps. Plus it wouldn't stop the stock app from killing gplay music while it's playing.
