Hello,
Has anybody try this application?. It is developed specially for Dell Streak 5.
"Storage Accelerant for DELL Streak 5" is a tool to set the read-ahead buffer(read_ahead_kb) for external storage(/sdcard) and internal storage(/data,/cache).
If you set the proper read-ahead buffer of internal storage, will improve the performance of the DELL Streak 5. (As if replacing the built-in microSD card)

I think, I've seen this setting applied somewhere in DSC Rom..

Hi Everyone,
I am a proud owner of an Atrix 4G today. First time user of the Android system. Finally left Windows Mobile. I also have purchased a Patriot microSDHC 32GB Class 10, LX Series card.
I have done some research about formating but I keep seeing different answers about file structure and cluster size and even the software partition program to use. I would like to verify and pinpoint the best way to format for the Android 2.2 operating system for the Motorola Atrix 4G. Goal is to have best overall performance for Speed & Stability.
1. What is the correct file structure? FAT, FAT32, NTSF, EXT2
2. What is the correct cluster size? 1kb, 2kb, 4kb, 8kb, 16kb, 32kb
3. What software program to use? I was about to use Mini Tool Partition Wizard (free) but I read that I should use a more specific program to format called the SD Formatter 3.0 (free)........... http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter_3
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.
Can't this just be formatted in the Atrix itself? I haven't had any trouble doing that.
There is a custom recovery in the Dev section and you can format and partition SD cards. I accidentally did that to my INTERNAL memory and it's fubar'd even after flashing (guess it doesn't touch that part of the device).
Make sure not to format the internal memory like I did lol
Can someone direct me to an explanation of the Atrix's memory and SD card usage?
I am curious as to:
1) where applications get loaded;
2) how and why the SD card gets divided and;
3) whether app movers like Link2SD or App2SD (things I used on 2.1) are even needed on 2.2 and higher.
I am installing a 32GB card next week and I want to know if I need to do any particular partitioning of the card in advance of putting it in my phone.
hi after i installing streakdroind i just found out the total space is only 8.17gb (dont know the size when its on original OS)
it should be 16gb right?
please help me to explain what happened?
thanks
Streak as standard has 2gb Internal Storage, and 16gb External Storage.
Are you confusing external sd for internal?
what i mean is dell streak 7" the tablet not the 5"
One of the guys who own a Streak 7 as well as a Streak 5 may chime in and answer, but you may have better luck asking your question in the Streak 7 forums. This is the Streak 5 forum.
why its only shown 8gb instead of 16gb?
Try using this tool from the market:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.google.android.diskusage&feature=search_result
It's free and will show you what's taking up the space. If you think it should be empty and aren't worried about losing anything, go to settings-sd card and storage and format it. See if that takes care of it.
its not the SD card but the internal storage...
thats why i'm curious about that since dell streak only available on 16gb
i'm using streakdroid custom rom
The 16gb is external storage. The streak only has a 2gb internal card.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Hello everyone,
I just reed this two post about increasing the internal memory of an android device using micro sd card.
1. http://www.technodify.com/increase-internal-memory-ram-android-phone-tablet-full-guide/
2. http://technokarak.com/increase-ram-of-android-smartphone.html
Did anybody tried to do this on a g tablet, does it drain your battery faster or anything ?

There are 2 different techniques being discussed in those posts:
The first, is using a swap file to increase the amount of virtual RAM. That technique (and hence those apps) will work only on kernels which are compiled to do swapping. Some gTablet kernels have this enabled (2.6.39.x and 3.1.10.x) and some don't (2.6.32.x). On the kernels which don't have swapping enabled at compile-time, you can recompile the kernel with swapping enabled, but, in any case swapping to disk is of questionable usefulness because of the interaction with the Android low memory killer feature in the kernel. In most cases, the low memory killer will start killing apps before any apps can be swapped out to disk.
The second technique discussed is the "apps to SD" feature where a separate extn partition is created on an external SD card which is then used to complement the /data partition. On the gTablet, because we have a large 16GB internal SD card, it is simpler to just resize the /data partition instead of using hacks like apps2SD or link2SD which are meant for old smartphones and which are not guaranteed to work on all ROMs.
