Evo V 4G specific kernel code - HTC EVO 3D

I dug on htcdev site several times looking for it, but could only find Sprint releases, until a few days ago I searched it again.
I found something labelled correctly but it downloaded a 3.4 kernel for the wrong device (villec) instead of the last release of the VM kernel for shooter.
I hassled em through the contact form and they actually said they should have it ready to release in 4-6 weeks, within two emails and two days.
Beats the h3ll out of Polaroid's responsiveness, who I've been hassling for two years now after kernel source for a tablet.

Does it differ from the sprint version? I thought they were the same, just rebranded. They have the same bootloader version (now), roms work on both devices (which means the kernel in the rom works on both devices).
Not trying to hassle you, I'm really just curious. I just thought they were the same?...

My Optimus V has an Optimus S board but slightly different firmware.
The firmware can be cross flashed including radios, and both function fine on sprint software.
The LG kernel code for both differs slightly. Not enough to obviously break anything.
I'm curious, too, about whether there are similar little differences on this device.
I have stock radio but my hboot is unrecoverable since it was over written on S-off.
It was Virgin 1.58, I can only find Sprint 1.58.
My 2.95.652.5 710RD is newer than the flashables I've found, too.
And I thought it was cruddy that HTC had a link to a new kernel source but it downloaded the wrong one.
I was surprised when they offered to cough up the real thing with zero resistance.

I'm almost 100% certain that the hboot 1.58.0000 is the exact same between Sprint and VM models.
Either way, you're in luck!! I have a thread here: http://androidforums.com/cdma-evo-3d-all-things-root/648902-radios-hboot-firmware-all-downloads.html
with all of the firmware downloads.
Post 3 (last link I believe) has the ota for VM with hboot 1.58!! Now get that baby fixed.

The update with hboot 1.58 is only available ota. The latest ruu for the evo v is hboot 1.57 I think it is linked in Brian's thread and if you run it and run the system update twice you'll get hboot 1.58
Hope that made sense...I'm not sure of software versions....

figured i might as well update the thread.
never got any further communication from htc on this topic, and all I've gotten out of them about the evo 3d since is that it's not supported any longer, and won't be.
asked about the 3vo just for curiosity after they assured me during live chat that my virgin mobile desire 816 was going to get an update to official marshmallow (dirty liars regarding both devices.)

Curious to hear from the people that are still s-on and flashed the new ICS leak, how is your phone running? Are there any problems youve run into?

I tried it. Major change was an updated kernel. Reverted back to BAMF 2.1 with the previous kernel, as it didnt play well with the change. I'm just waiting for the roms to either be rebased or the OTA to be released. No radio changes only an updated hboot and a few fixes in the rom itself.
Would you run it over the gb rom the phone comes with as a daily driver?

Mine loves the new radios, so yes. For most users; they have experienced issues with the radios. My suggestion; s-off before flashing either the old or new leak. That way if you do experience said issues, you will be able to rollback. Also, brings up the thought of being OTA compliant, but that shouldn't matter much as most of the devs here would hve a working rom based off the OTA shortly after.

Quite honestly, I don't notice a difference one way or another. This leak was played better with my phone regarding mounting and recovery issues I had on the first ICS leak, but that is more an individual issue I had. As far as signal and reception , I think it is just the fact where I live all of the radios have been the same for me. I am in a rural area of wisconsin with just 3G, so haven't benefitted from 4g or difference in signal strength.
In my opinion, it's easier to s off than to flash the new firmware using the s on method and relocking bootloader and then upgrading then reunlocking and installing recovery and a rooted rom. Also, I've helped about the same amount of people with both. For some crazy reason even though the software seems a breeze to me, people get confused with so many steps I guess, and people who are performing s off and ask me to watch over their shoulder are having much better results than upgrading the firmware.

[Q] Best HBOOT/Radio combos. ICS or GB

Im currently on the stock OTA GB hboot and radios and i was just wondering what some people are finding the best hboot and radio combos to be. either ICS or GB and any firmware.
mainly looking for best service not battery because my battery is amazing right now.

what kind of battery life are you getting?
my battery life stinks no matter what i run,but im pretty hard on my phone.
i have not noticed any difference in any of the firmware ive run,and ive been on everyghing from 2.10 up
i just flashed the new 3.13.605.07 ruu(whose firmware may not be much different, except the 2.25 hboot) and updated cleanrom dev 1.2 to 1.3.
its very fluid and smooth, and the battery life feels like it may be a lil better, tho that very likely is from dev edition, and no sense rather than difference in firmware.
ive had stable 4g on all the leaks, while not experiencing the battery drain or overheating some complain of. IMO theres no real reason to stay on GB firmware of your s-off.

actually i have a huge reason to stay on GB. two words:
AnthraX Kernel
The thing is amazing. right now at 25% brightness im on track to have close to 40 hrs of battery life and its not in sleep all the time either i use it a ton
Is there a right answer for the best GB HBoot? I believe that the HBoot changes some driver information, correct? Is there a best one for something like tommytomatoes classic or SS_Ultra? I keep my radio, PRL and PRI up to date but have never updated the hboot. I think I am still on 2.10 from when I first got it.
Where did you find the anthrax kernel? I looked all over Google

Shoot me a pm and ill send you the download link.
Hboot and radio from penultimate ICS leak, 3.14.605.10 I think (latest leak has same hboot and radio from what I gather). Signal is fine. Battery life is still worse than my old Dinc, but I can get through a couple days of light to moderate use. I can't compare to the original firmware because I wasn't on it long enough
[ICS][2.25][STOCK][5-7] firmware is what i am on.
I was experiencing some 4G issues after loosing 4G in an elevator, and I would have to re-boot in order for it to come back. Now that does not happen anymore with the 5/7 firmware.

Advantages of S-OFF over S-ON rooted Unlocked??

hello, im trying to see if there are any PRO's vs CON for making the EVO LTE S-OFF??? im currently S-ON unlocked with root. im wondering if i would lose my 4G data? besides not being able to fully update FIRMWARE
This isn't the first time this has been asked, but oh well. Regaw_leinad had a post that explained the advantages very well, can't seem to find it though... But, a decent article can be found HERE that explains the differences and advantages.
Mainly things are for full firmware updates, abilities to flash custom PJ75IMG.zip files in the bootloader, flash kernels and splash screens and radios directly from recovery, doesn't report your phone as "unlocked" to HTC, custom bootloader to hide the "development text" on boot...
And no, you shouldn't lose your 4G. This isn't like the OG Evo 4G with the WiMax chip. Ours is integrated deeper, so there should be no problems. Some people had to reprovision their phones, which is easy enough.
As long as you follow the steps to the 't' you should be fine. If you get stuck in the process, like "ZOMG I BRICKED MY PHONE", there is a "Unbrick" tool in the Original Development catagory (note: this is only for the LazyPanda S-OFF process, not some random time your phone fails). Everything is done at your own risk, but there are plenty of people in the S-Off thread and IRC who can help.

If you're on hboot 1.12 you should be able to update the radio with S-ON, just not any other parts of the firmware. Do a search for the jewel radio collection thread and you'll find a standalone flashable radio. But if you're on 1.12, you might as well go for S-OFF anyway and flash the whole firmware package.
EDIT: Here's a link to the thread

[Q] EVO 4g LTE Random Reboot Thread

I've done multiple searches over the last week and found this to be a common problem with not specifically the LTE but others (4g) and desire as well. It appears that most assume it is something to do with not upgrading firmware or not flashing properly but I can assure you that mine didn't start acting up until I flashed new radio, I then went to the old, tried different roms etc...it appears that there is NOTHING specific that can be applied to this problem as THE cause. That being said, if anyone, on this specific phone is having the same problems, I think it would be helpful if we started a post of our setups to see if maybe we can find the culprit as this is annoying the hell out of me...any takers?
My current setup :
S-off Lazy Panda
Hboot 1.12.1111
Radio: 1.12.11.09
Kernel: 3.0.8-01680-gb6402b4 [email protected]#1
Build: 2.13.651.1 CL99866 release-keys
Rom: Meanrom 4.2
PRI: 2.45_003
PRL: 25006
I see a lot of frustration through numerous threads but no solid answers, for some it was on stock rom first day out of the box, for me it was a month later after several flashes...hopefully we can address this by comparing setups specific to the LTE, I'm willing to give it a try. Or if someone has found the answer...please feel free to share, thanks

saw that answer too...have had the case since the day I bought the phone...there is something wrong...hardware, software, not sure...but it has nothing to do with the case, have seen those answers too, thanks for the input...looking for setups that are working and those that aren't...case has been known to hold the power button etc... i'm looking for answers with hardware or software, but please everyone check the obvious
What other roms have you tried running? Mean Rom has a lot of mods and such, u tried something a little closer to stock? Do u dirty flash or do full wipes?
Have pretty much the same stats as u, S-off, newest radios/etc., I'm on stock w/goodies though. No consistently irritating reboots for me.
This happens to me sometimes. The only thing that is common when it locks up or reboots is when I am at the exact same place.
I work about a half mile outside of downtown Raleigh and it seems there is a Sprint dead spot there. Not to mention the roaming warnings.
Just about every call drops, easily 90% the time and rarely get more than 1x data connection. Unfortunately the WiFi there is broken right now too.
I'm thinking the phone is trying too hard to connect and then just starts re booting. Yesterday in my pocket it felt like it was making toast and was completely locked up. Took me ten minutes to get it to re boot.
Last week I got 6 lockup and re boots in two hours.
Sprint in a down town area fails pretty hard here.

This happens at least once a day for me. The phone isn't in a case. It'll just be sitting there with the screen off and all of the sudden the HTC boot screen shows up. I got the phone on day 1 but it just started happening about 3 weeks ago. I thought it was an app that was updated so I removed the ones that were updated last but it still happens. I'm running stock, non-rooted with the following:
Software: 2.13.651.1 710RD
Radio: 1.12.11.0809
Hboot: 1.19.0000
Kernel: 3.0.8-01680-gb6402b4 [email protected] #1
PRI: 2.45_003

You find it in the bootloader

Thanks but was on his rom too, have tried several, doesn't appear to be a rom issue, something to do with the last update, rolled that back too and still having the same problem so put it back to newest firmware etc...

[Q] Asia WWE RUU for Rhyme on VZW

Will it work, I am currently downloading the RUU from the HTC site. I'm not too sharp on GSM vs CDMA ROMs, even more so, the substructure of android and how it works along with the radio. I haven't been able to find any other legitimate links to ICS for this phone and I would like to run ICS. There is a thread on here about it, but the link to the ROM only downloads partially and its pretty aggrivating. Thank you.
Yeah I would like to know the same thing. I DID run across something earlier saying that ICS was coming to Rhyme sometime in July-Aug
