Need to return DNA - HTC Droid DNA

Like an idiot I jumped ahead of myself and relocked and S-on my wife's phone before completly reading through what I should have done. Phone will only boot into fastboot and when I try recovery, it just boots to fastboot. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance -

Apply appropriate RUU for your firmware version. If you are on kit-kat firmware no full RUU exists so you would more or less be SOL.

Try using the command fastboot clear cache. Then try to boot to the recovery.

Try running the 3.06 ruu found here. If it works then your all set. If it doesn't that might mean your on kit Kat and since we do not have an ruu for that then you may be out of luck.
Go here and try it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2612740
Make sure your booted to the boot loader and you have the drivers on the pc installed correctly so it can run and complete. If this doesn't work your only option is a jtag. In that case which is worst case scenario you would need to send the phone out to get fixed. Hopefully you are not on kit Kat and the ruu works. The new ota was released a couple weeks ago so chances are she didn't accept it yet if she was on her new phone.

Do you have the original unlock code? Mite have to try firewater to unlock and soff again. From the looks of the pic you are on the 3.06 os but the newest radio and hboot. the link below has all the radios, hboots and firmware links. I think you need to flash back to the 3.06 hboot and radio and then try the 3.06 ruu again. Hope this helps

Hopefully they don't charge you. The signature check is basically saying you don't have permission to do that because you have security flags on and your locked. Your probably on kitkat and that's why the ruu won't work. With out soff you can not downgrade the system so it's not allowing it. And since we do not have an ruu for kit Kat yet your out of luck. Like I said you can jtag but because of your time restrictions and having to send it back to Verizon that's not an option. Sorry I couldn't help you out and things didn't work out.

Look for facepalm
You could use Facepalm S-off, but what I would do in that situation is accept the OTA to Build # 2.06 and use Moonshine S-off. I don't know about Facepalm, but with Moonshine, it S-offs, unlocks bootloader, and roots so that all you have to do is install a custom recovery.
In shorter words, Update your phone and use Moonshine.
And P.S. This belongs in Q&A, not Development. You will most likely get more help there.

Warning

I have been reading thorough the returning to stock post in lg general Dev. A lot of people are softbricking or bootlooping by flashing OTA an edited recovery.
Before you flash any OTA you must return to stock.
Just a word of warning. If I'm misinformed someone please correct me but that's what I got from reading.
Sent from my LG-LS980 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I'm sure anyone that would be looking in the development threads would be looking for development so they might pass over this thread. In turn they will end up 'softbricking' their device because they didn't return to stock before hand.
You should have posted this is the correct place.
Now everyone's phones are going to be messed up.

if you can get in recovery, you are fine. Just have to clear some files and it will boot fine. It's "soft bricked" because it keeps trying to apply the OTA.

If you have a nandroid backup, you should restore it. As soon as you restore it, you should flash back to stock. Then after your phone is clean, take the OTA and then root.

Safe thing to do is to always flash back to stock to avoid any issues.
EDIT: Don't quote me on this but according to a Sprint G2 user in the thread below that if you have the stock recovery and didn't flash TWRP, you should be able to take the OTA without having to flash back to stock.

Good Info
Thanks for the post. I myself was applying the software downloads for my D800 At&t Variant. I am currently stuck right now and your explanation helps make a little sense of what is happening to my phone. I was stuck at the cm boot animation and tried to do a wipe and restore and a bunch of other stuff and nothing was working. Decided to flash back using the software from that thread, however the flash was listed as successful, but upon getting to the main screen of the os, keyboard doesn't come up, no signal or wifi, then after a minute or two the phone will just reboot. My thoughts are either that I have the OTA software missing key components from the original stock, or my efs is shot, in which case I am concerned. Just got this phone and would love to fix it. I will hunt for original software.
I had done a full lg stock backup through CWM and then exported that to my computer. Would that contain my efs info?
Thanks

You can't use flash different boot.img from different roms.
What I would do it flash a stock based rom. After it boots factory restore it. hat will then replace all the system partition from there then flash the desired rom you want. See if that fixes it.
Downloading the rage dna rom right now. Going to give that a shot.

I thought it was. I don't know... I have a newborn and unable to confront this problem the way I'd like. My current radio is from here. I was trying nusenseSIX from santod. His stuff is always solid :good:
Anyway I've tried flashing all radios. It seems the only way I got sms working again is to break my 4g. I used *228 option 1 and messed up my SIM. I got sms back but *228 botches sims. Got a replacement from Verizon and sms was broken again.
Edit: let me tell u how desperate I got. I decided to ruu about a month ago when my wife's iPhone 5 went belly up and I gave her my DNA and took my old fascinate out the drawer until I fixed her phone...
So I RUU'd 3.06... fixed her phone... Took my phone back and s-off'd with rumrunner. It worked great except I could not send sms. This was with carbon KK. Found out I could only send sms with stock oem based roms.
So I got desperate and RUU'd 1.15 updated via ota to 2.04 and moonshined to s-off. Still have the same problem... any takers?

Just to let you know this has been a problem across many ROMs and devices on Verizon for weeks now. Nobody knows what exactly is causing it as it seems to pick users, devices and OS versions at random.
I personally have a scary hunch that Verizon is testing a blocking method for rooted users that flash newer OS versions than are available naturally. Kinda like an OS check that runs every SMS and results in a ban that requires a radio toggle to fix.
I am probably totally crazy with that theory, but it seems a bit sane. After all, this isn't a bug that plagues all users of custom ROMs or all users of any specific ROM or device, and none of the people that this is happening to are idiots who have made changes to their device. It just stops working one day. Kinda like Verizon flipped a switch on a new program and picked some guinea pigs.
One other thing; It seems that a lot of these problems are originating in East Coast states, specifically VA, MD and PA, with only a few recent occurrences in CA and several in my very own 540 area code. Where are you located?

Need a little help
