I have been one of those unlucky verizon note 2 users in Pennsylvania who has been unable to send more than one SMS before it hangs and won't send. Haven't wanted to go back to a TW ROM since I think the AOSP ROMs perform better but going thru a reboot or dropping from LTE to just CMDA to send a text was too much of a pain. Tried several times to update the apns-conf.xml file using data from a 4.3 TW ROM but didn't make any difference.
Last night I flashed lacoursiere18's n 7105 4.4.2 KK PORT, ROM for the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II ( everything but GPS worked great) and SMS worked with no issue.
Today I took the apns-Conf.xml from the N7105 4.4.2 ROM and replaced the one in the 5/17 Pac-man nightly and so far I have been successful sending multiple (over 10) SMS in a short period of time which I have not even able to do on any CM or AOSP ROM in weeks. Not sure if this is a fluke or not but wanted to share in any case. I figured since we had a TW 4.4.2 ROM with SMS that worked it was worth a try. Haven't tried to see if it works with Gummy, Liquid, AOKP, omni or CM but I'm hoping it might.
If you try this on another ROM please share your results with everyone. Also, don't forget to change permissions.
Just curious where you are at in PA? I live in the Lehigh Valley and have never had any issues with sms.

I am up in the Poconos. I know that area codes 570 and 717 were the ones where some were affected - I expect you are probably in 610. There are several other threads that provide more details on those having issues and it is an issue that doesn't affect the stock Verizon or custom Touchwiz based ROMs.

Yeah. I have seen all the postings about it. I just haven't seen the actual location that people are having problems in. It's weird that I don't have any problems and you do. I'm only about 10 miles from the southern part of the Poconos.

Here is the DreamFX Official Unofficial fix credits to lacoursiere18's first build that is considered to be the magic build to fix our SMS issue permanently. The funny thing is that texting doesn't even work in his first build but something with that is the magic sauce to fix our phones. Follow the below directions.
1.) Wipe everything raw
2.) Flash 4.4.2 TW Wip Build 1 and flash SuperSU 1.93
3.) Boot up and try to send a few texts. They will fail everytime as texting is broke in this build (but this is how the magic happens)
4.) Reboot, maybe try and send a few more texts again (again they will fail)
5.) Reboot into recovery and wipe everything raw
6.) Flash latest CM11 or any other AOSP rom
7.) Reboot and Profit!

I randomly miss some short messages sent to me. These are sent by different senders and problems occurs almost everyday.
My operator says everything is ok and according to their logs all the messages have been sent to my phone. I have sometimes tested this by myself sending a message from another telephone. Sometimes a reboot of the device will help for a while, sometimes another test of sending comes through.
This is annoying and frustrating because you can't be sure if someone has sent you something and all this happens randomly.
I'm currenlty using Samsung Galaxy SIII I9300 with Omega Rom v.45. I noticed this problem with the previous version v.44.x.
Any ideas what may cause this? Do I have to blame the ROM or my operator or my phone?

Is it based on a leak?
Flash a ROM based on an official release and do a factory reset. if that doesn't resolve the issue, probably a network issue - although if yo0u're using a leak, it's not unexpected to find major bugs

What do you mean by "Is it base on a leak"? I have downloaded the ROM from Omega's official donwload center (Omega I9300 XXUFME3 v45.1 JB 4.2.2, torrent-version), rebooted the phone in to the recovery-mode and installed the ROM with "Full wipe"
Any suggestions for an official based ROM?

IT IS BASED ON A LEAK read the rom description .
SMS is a well posted problem .
Use a rom based on 4.1.2 if you don't want to use leaked test beta firmware 4.2.2

Ok, thanks for your replies!
same issue
I also had the same issue.
I'm also using Omega with stable release.
I notice the problem appear when I did a nandroid restore or same problem when I update rom without full wipe.
I was able to receive the missing sms with Ghost SMS.

I am on MDK with Twrp and when I attempt to use a TW 4.3 ROM the phones dialer will not work. I atempt to make or receive a call and the phone will go black and become unresponsive. After the call fails the phone will fiction properly. I still have data and SMS messaging works. I have done clean installs with formating the internal memory. When I flash to a 4.3 asop ROM everything works. Any ideas what I can do to fix this?

This is the only 4.3 TW rom available for verizon phones http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2517611 It works fine. If you trying to flash International Roms use my patch it works http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2518264

Thank you for your quick response. The first link you posted was the last ROM I had tried. Before posting, I have also tried multiple international roms using your first patch plus your updated patch for heavy themed roms. The only thing i have not tried to flash is diffrent modems. Is there an easy way I can tell what modem I am on?

You need to download latest version of rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2517611 there is no need to flash any fixes now they are all built in do a full wipe/factory reset then go to advance wipe and wipe system, cache, data then install zip
I'm so frustrated by now, because I have issues with receiving sms since I started to use kitkat. I had this issue with Pound rom, with Sibermod, and now with official cm11 snapshot. All roms that I used are cm11 based, I tried different kernels, personal preference is apolo kernel. Well the problem looks like following :
1. I clean flash rom, gapps, kernel, clean caches, reboot, sms works, I receive the test.
2. Restore apps, using tb or Google backup (tried both) sms still working
3. After night of charging, sms are no longer received.
I can send messages but cannot receive.
The only way to fix it would be to reset the phone, wipe everything and flash rom again.
I don't know if this is related but since flashing cm11 official I keep getting cell broadcast notifications every 5-10 min. I have disabled every possible broadcast notification but it still pops up.

Same problem
I think this thread needs a bump.
I've been having the same problem. I was running 4.4 on my D2spr for months with only minor bugs. I ran Slimkat up to stable build 4, Gummy 4.4.2, and a few others with no problems. About a week ago I flashed CM11, and after about 30 minutes I couldn't receive sms or mms anymore. I tried to disable Voice+ (didn't work), I tried installing a third part sms app (go sms pro) and that didn't work, I tried flashing a different GApps package (went from PA GApps to Slim's I think) that didn't work either.
Then I happened to buy a bricked S4 L720. I got it up and running and flashed Gummy 4.4.2 onto it at first, I couldn't get texts. So I flashed Liquidsmooth 3.0 (4.4.2) and still cannot receive sms or mms. CM11 doesn't work either and neither do different GApps on this phone.
Obviously I assume Sprint but they are screwing me over with their whole "Oh your phone is rooted and we're gay boys." So I'm attempted to flash the stock firmware in hopes that either that will fix it or Sprint will help me after that.
In the mean time, has anyone found a solid solution to this yet!?

Agreed that thread needs to be bump. I don't know if it's cm11 issue or kitkat before 4.4.3 but I gave up on the issue and flashed neat rom based on stock, works great but as flashaholic I feel sorry to not be able to use the latest version.

I know what you mean. Right now I'm enjoying LS 3.0 and there are a couple others I want to try, the thought of going back to touchwiz disgusts me.
One thing though. On my GS3 I wasn't able to receive Hangouts IM on any ROM from a specific person. Now I can receive them from him on my GS4! Definitely worth not being able to receive sms (highly sarcastic.)
I resolved my issue. After all that trouble and even though I disabled voice+ like everyone said I figured out in my regular voice app I had to go to

I always have problem with sms, love the phone. So please confirm you have working sms and it delivers instantly to your phone after someone text you. if this is problem with my phone, then I will buy a new one.
No matters how I had tried, clean or dirty install 5.0 or 4.4 ROM, factory reset, wipe everything, I still have problem with delayed message whenever someone text me. I take at least 5-10' for message arrive. everything else including sending message, receive call from someone or calling are fine.
it happens to all AOSP ROM but stock ROM. it works fine on any stock ROM.
Thanks for your help

Swapping phones probably won't help. I don't run custom ROMs, but I have read of others having this issue on custom ROMs.
It is what it is I think. The custom ROMs still have issues to work out, especially when it comes to LP.
Mine is fine.
Did a dirty flash of Jasmine.
Works Fine Here

But if I install CM ROM 11, 12 I will have that problem and so frustrated.

What modem are you on? I'm using the 12B modem from the latest update and I never have any issues with cellular service or SMS/MMS. I did have issues on Lollipop until I flashed the new modem, and since then, everything has been great. Also, make sure your data mode is set to LTE (recommended) and not Global unless you specifically need this.

I've had 12B modem since before flashing AOSP, and I consistently had SMS problems using Lollipop roms, including CM12. I've always had to go back to modified stock ROM after a day. This past Friday I installed latest CM12 nightly, and finally SMS is working as it should. BTW, I've made it a point to clean flash every time.
Wow you're right. My first time on rom in two years. On illusion. And my sms is about 45-60 seconds behind. Good thing I use hangouts more than anything these days....
Hey guys! I'm using a Galaxy Note with a Bell board (was originally AT&T but that bricked because at the time I thought flashing an N7000 ROM would work, D'oh!) and I want to upgrade to a Jelly Bean Rom. I'm using Blackstar XI, a 4.0.4 ROM, and I'm looking for a lightweight JB rom. It can lack stylus/pen support, I found myself not using that feature as much as I thought I would.
Would I run into any issues using a QuincyATT Cyanogenmod 10.1.3 ROM, considering it's a Bell note board? Would I need to unlock my SIM first? And I recall there being a trick with Notepad++ I needed to do in order to make it work, even on my AT&T board.
I just have an issue with heavy RAM usage at boot and I can't even run some apps, since I know touchwiz is stupid.
Anyone willing to help me get it running on my note? Any help would be appreciated!

If you like blackstar, I would just flash Blackstar Blackjelly after doing a backup. It's what I've been running as my go-to on my Telus note. The other jb's are great too, but cm comes with the odd small bug like echo on speaker phone. Most of the customizations make them worth trying though.

Sweet. I could give that a try if the Cyanogenmod ROM doesn't work. Is there anything I need to do in preparation, since this is technically a Bell note? Or can I just go ahead and flash the ROM without any changes to the ZIP?

I'm assuming you have an unlocked bootloader already since you are running cm. Just be sure to have latest cm recovery or gimmeitorilltell's twrp (although other versions work with Jellybean, if you try kitkat or lollipop you'll have problems). Make sure you are flashing a quincyatt rom.
I have been using SGH-I717ATT-UCMD3-Modem with great success for a radio. Your mileage may vary.
If you get no signal, before blaming the rom, first check your mobile networks access point names and settings to be sure they match your carrier. (A good idea is to take a couple screenshots of your settings now before you flash any new roms as there are quite a few numbers involved)

Good news! I tried the CM10.1.3 ROM and it worked well minus two small gripes:
1. Occasional freeze/hang on lock screen, causing it to reboot
2. Random artifacting/crashes during video playback/browsing through gallery
I'm gonna say this is the best performing ROM I've tried so far, but I'm going to give BlackJelly a try! I'll keep you posted. Just figured I'd give Cyanogenmod a proper shot now that I know how to install ROMs!

Time for BlackJelly! Downloading now.
I also may need some help getting the SIM to work once this ROM is on. So that way, I can use this stock-rom based OS for actual phone things instead of it just being a tiny tablet! Yay!
Can you point me in the direction of the latest TWRP recovery that I can flash through Odin?
