Hello all, I am currently having a issue with my GS3 after accidentally installing the 4.3 update to my phone last night. I have been telling it no for the past 5 months, and last night I just hit the wrong thing. So this morning I came onto the forums to see about rooting the phone finally only to see that it can no longer connect to my PC. I also tried it on my laptop, only to find the same thing. The phone no longer even shows up in the device manger. However it is still accepting a charge from the USB port.
Phone Specs:
Model Number: SCH-I535
Andorid Version: 4.3
Baseband Version: I535VRUCML1
Kernel Version: 3.0.31
[email protected] #1
Wed Dec 11 01:109:13 KST 2013
Build Number: JSS15J.535VRUCML1
Hardware Version I535.10
I have tried searching around on google, and have done the following things, uninstalled the Samsung Drivers, and then ran drivercleanup and re-installed the drivers. Tried various USB ports/other known working USB cables. Reset the phone back to factory defaults, and cleared the cache. I also tried turning DM Mode on via the ##366633# menu. I uninstalled my USB controller just for giggles, but have gotten no where. Both computers are running Windows 7 X64, and neither of them see the phone in the device manager. I also booted the phone up and tried using the download mode to see if Windows would detect it, however it did not. If anyone has any thoughts that would be truly fantastic. I don't care to copy data to and from my computer via airdroid or any of the other file sharing apps, I just would have liked to have rooted the phone ect .
-Thanks
Matt.
Wrong forum, this is for the i9300 only.

I heard there was a KIES firmware update for my phone and so wanted to update. I installed KIES into my laptop and when I fired it up it notified of a KIES software update(update of KIES itself) and after updating KIES,I connected my phone which was detected properly.
I did the firmware update subsequently and after that the problem started. When I connect my phone using USB to the laptop, nothing happens, the phone doesnt charge even. Everything else works fine. I searched various forum posts but none of them work
1. Tick/Untick the USB debugging checkbox at Settings>Applications>Development - did not work
2. type *#7284#, toggle PDA <-> MODEM. didnt work
3. One curious thing is that, if I connect the phone after the phone is fully booted, it is not detected and the phone doesnt charge at all. But if connect the phone when it is switched OFF and then Switch it on, the phone does charge but still is not detected.
4. The cable is not faulty as it works perfectly with other samsung phones(Fit etc...).Also, its not the problem with my laptop as other mobiles are detected fine on my laptop.
pls help
Couple of things to try
1 Check the pins of the bottom of the phone?
2 Uninstall Kies and drivers, and reinstall?
The pins seems to be fine, anything specific I should look for?..and I have tried connecting in other systems with KIES and still the same problem. My friend's android phones connect fine in all the systems. Even if it was KIES drivers problems, shudnt it atleast charge the cell??
Rule one is use official Samsung USB cable
Rule two is use a mainboard USB Port .
jje
Hmm, It is a official samsung cable.
I did not understand what u meant by mainboard port?? I am not using any hub if that whats you meant. I am thinking it is an issue because of the firmware update.
I was actually thinking of getting the firmware update and subsequently, after backing up using clockworkmod, I was thinking if getting either villianROM or revolutionROM. Now, backing up is out of question as the present firmware is broken. So, If I go ahead with the flashing, what options do I have if I want it to get to factory state for warranty purposes.
Connecting the AC charger when phone is switched on, will initiate charging?

yes. Normal charging happens fine. So its not the pins I guess.

How about a factory reset? Try that!
sorry, should have mentioned that. I did factory reset twice and then went into recovery mode and did a wipe and clean and cleaned the cache too.
So, alternatively where can I get the stock rom/firmware for the specs i provided above. I found a thread where various firmware were provided but one compatible with my kernel..csc etc,, was not there
I appreciate u all replying. I tried on the indian thread but nobody seems to feel it worth replying.
Mainboard or motherboards USB port only .

i have been having this problem ever since i updated my kies to the latest version 2.3.0.12035_16_4. Now the MTP driver just does not install even after following the following instructions from the link [Solution / Tutorial for Galaxy S i9000] MTP Application crashing
and also other instructions from around the net!
1) tried deleting samsung entirely from my drive including drivers and rebooted and then reinstalled. no hope!
2) tried deleting all files with 16 characters from phone memory and sd card. still no hope!
3) installed all drivers successfully via usb debugging mode and then after that i disabled usb debugging and connected it says MTP driver successfully installed but i have to restart my pc. when i restart it says MTP drivers installing and then it fails!!!!!! kies keeps saying connecting..........
4)also now the autorun does not work when trying to connect to kies. it doesn't show up in the windows explorer. however i can access via usb mode
Same results at home (vista) and work (win 7 pro)!!!
whats happening?????
I'm in Qatar my phone details are as follows
Model: GT-I9100
PDA: I9100JPKJ2
Phone: I9100XXKI4
CSC: I9100OJPKJ1

just yesterday i just tried another solution: i removed my sd card and reconnected and lo & behold kies detected it...mtp drivers were installed and i could backup.
now today morning to check for updates i reconnected it the same way and i get the message"MTP driver failed".
In the device manager it says device failed to start (code 10) for MTP driver.
i have looked around and most of the threads are for galaxy s and this is a last resort. when i wrote the title the suggestions xda gave me are 1st one is for galaxy note, 2nd - 4th suggestions last post was in 2011 and the 5th one is from 2010. i have gone thru all of these.
Any ideas if i have ICS update? This is my first android phone bought it last july. I'm a bit nervous about updating via odin!
any help anyone???
1) Sorry mate, ICS KIES update for your version has not been released yet.
2) you have to try on another PC to check MTP working, most probebly your PC issue not the phone.
3) uninstall Kies, doenload a fresh one from Samsung and install after reboot and try..
thanx for the quick reply mate
2) same situation in all pcs
3) already done that plenty of times...removed drivers etc etc still no hope

Solved----- USB port was the issue:good: am now rooted and looking for a rom to install.
AOKP MS6 or AOKP nightly JB builds
I upgraded my Original Samsung Galaxy Tab (GT-P1000) from the old Android version that came with it when I purchased it about in 2011 to ICS 4.0.4 by flashing the AOKP ROM Build #40 (as described in the post - Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000: Upgrading to Android 4.0.4 via AOKP ROM Build 40).
Everything works fine in the new system except the USB connection. Before I upgraded, I had the necessary drivers on my laptop via Samsung Kies and I was able to tether via USB, debug via USB as well as access the Tab as USB storage from my PC. All of this USB functionality stopped working after the upgrade. The same laptop does not even detect the USB cable inserted anymore. I don't even get a prompt on my table after what I want to do with the USB connection once it is connected to the laptop.
The USB tethering setting is always disabled even after the USB cable is connected.
I was about to start App development and this usb problem is giving me sleepless nights as all means to search for a solution is not giving me any results. Thanks in advance for reading my post and providing your inputs. Much appreciated.

windows does not recognise the tablet and i can't turn recovery or download mode "ON"
Hi everyone
Just wondering if you guys could give me any suggestions on what to do.
I bought what was labelled as a S007S recently, it's a 5" Note 2 clone which runs MTK 6577 and although it's been a bit buggy it is still usable and quite fun to just mess about with. However today when I connected the phone onto my PC it didn't recognize the device. All it says on the phone is "Charger has been linked" as a brief message but then disappears. It doesn't give me the usual menu to select USB Mass Storage Mode in the notification bar anymore.
I've tried a factory reset, changing computers which run W7 & W8 respectively and both should have drivers installed as I've used them to connect the phone previously, changing USB cables, pulling the battery, trying USB debug mode, and also tried a few apps on the market that attempt to mount storage.
I've tested the other phones such as HTC One X , Samsung S3 i9300, and Gnex and they are all fine.
I'm quite stumped as to what to do so hoping someone could give me some pointers, I did have a search through XDA for similar issue but seem to have only found older android devices or inconclusive stuff, if I missed a thread please link me
Any help would be appreciated!
