Sorry to have to ask this, but ZTE is an awful company and every time I look for zte v956 rooting guides, and overclocking information I am taken to the ZTE blade, and these aren't the same phone (according to Wikipedia and pictures of the phone.)
First, Does anyone know how to root this phone?
The ZTE brand seems to be rootable, but I have found nothing for this version.
Second, Does anyone know what a "safe" over clocking would be? The phone runs slowly, and anything would be better.
Third, Assuming there is a way to root the phone, is there any custom roms for it?
I came across a thread saying Cyanogenmod will most definitly not run on the ZTE v956, but does anyone know of a rom that will? Do you like this rom more than the standard UI?
Again, sorry for the post. Any help would be appreciated by me, and the girl I am doing this for.

Hi, I just got my Samsung Fascinate today, and I was looking forward to rooting it. It's my first Android device, and I've only used dumbphones until today. I've seen the rooting threads yet still have no clue how to root my phone.
Can anyone please take me step by step (starting with what apps I would need, if any) in order to root my phone successfully? Thank you very much!
i dont post much over here at xda but since iv had my d2 and now gal s iv been here much more so please dont think im a super noob (still a noob) but you really should just play with you STOCK phone for a one or two weeks and get to know it before u go and root it and the endless fun that comes after. i say this more or so because your coming from a "dumb phone" you really should get to know android and all of its fun ins and outs. enjoy your new phone and ur new addiction..prob should have tried heroin first

Well, let the big kids figure out how to remove Bing and make some tools that will make it easier for you to root, give it a week or so and we will have them

The first links for the drivers aren't working!!
edit:
once i started doing adb push su /sdcard/su, it says "failed to copy 'su' to '/sdcard/su': Permission denied."
i'm so lost.
Someone Else posted a link to a guide with a small update to it's instructions,
The Post is in the same forum as this one topic name is Rooted, page 3, user eleazar123 posted it..
I would just drop a link to it, but Apparently i am not verified and can not post any links :-(
I have a small problem rooting with the Universal Androot beta-version 1.6.2. To root temporarily works perfect, but not rooting the usual way.
Am I doing something wrong?
Can I Flash this device like I did with my phone?
I've recently bought one as well.
Did u succeed rooting it?
And have u been able to add regular Market?
Any progress?
Hi, my brother also just bought one of these (Norway).
Anyone know if there are any successfull rooting kits for this tablet?
I am asking on behalf of my brother, because he does not have access to the internet at the moment.

Rooting
Hi, I'm Glenn, I'm new in the forum
I also bought an Kendo M7, but I can't seem too root it, anyone else done it?
Temp root works, but not permanent... Is there a custom rom that I can use, and do I get it to boot from SDCARD?
Rooting NookColor guide, don't work either...
Here is the hardware info:
CPU ABI: armeabi
Board: trout
Brand: rockchip
Device: NTM7U
Okay, now I need a rom for the Kendo M7, I took a chance and made into a "Brick"...
Try searching for KENDO on netlogic.se.
Sorry for not being able to supply a link, but apparently I am not yet allowed to do this :-|
KENDO M5
Slightly off topic, but here it goes.
I have bought a KENDO M5, similar to the M7 but not identical.
Has anyone stumbled over a image for the M5 ?
TIA

Does anyone here knows how to get into recovery-mode in the M7?
Anyone here that has been able to boot into a recovery-state?
I'm using 2.0.1.ECLAIR-2-1.eng.root.201104-twk-m7-006d tweak-image from Netlogic's website.

Original files for development
A while ago I recieved an email from the Swedish reseller called Netlogic with an archive of the original files for this tablet that they got from manufacturer Yifang Digital somehow.
If you still have this tablet in your home, please feel free to use this, but at your own risk.
First thing to do is to find out what kind of bootloader it's running.
I haven't found any site to upload the archive to so just send me a PM & I'll try to send it to you somehow.

Anyone have any luck rooting the zte stormer / n9520? I know the zte warp (n9510) has a root method already, but I was wondering if that would work on the upcoming zte stormer. I know its not out yet but maybe someone has a pre release device?
Here's the info:
N9520, android 4.1.2
Baseband: N9520B01
Kernel 3.4.0-svn10453 [email protected]
SW: N9520V1.0.0B02
HW: cyyB
ZTE is obviously pretty new to the us cellphone market, so it doesn't seem like there's been lots of progress made on rooting their phones yet. Or maybe there's just not many people buying them yet??
Are there any generic rooting methods that are common for ZTE devices? I'm just not finding a lot of results.

I own a few ZTE devices and as far as I'm concerned there are no ZTE specific roots. The older ZTE Blade device was able to be easily rooted using Z4Root apk which basically runs a Gingerbreak exploit. There are other Android OS specific exploits capable of rooting ZTE devices (i.e. Bin4ry for ICS devices) but most of these have been patched by now. ZTE devices definitely do not have as big market as Samsung devices and therefore development for these is less. I would recommend Vroot V1.7.1 one-click root tool that has allowed me to successfully root a variety of JB devices whenever you have the new Stormer in hand.

Root method for zte n9520
Hey guys. So I asked this question a bit back and found an answer...check out this Post. http://www.photo-cool.com/?p=136637 I even emailed the guy and he responded telling me that everything remains the same but the phone is rooted so you can use "Root" apps ie: Titanium etc. The guy will also update the post as soon as he finds a custom rom that might work on it but for now just to root the phone, follow these simple instructions. So this might've solved the issue. I found a cheap case on ebay that came with a screen protector and a car plug for like 5 bucks. Anyway...love the phone
Once again page is :

rooting the zte max
Yes the guy happens to be me and hes right just follow the directions i posted and you should be fine. I am working on a way to get the custom recovery working so we can then proceed on making custom roms on it i have 2 of these phones so i definitely dont mind building and testing on one of the devices since i purchased it to develope around it. Zte has always been difficult to get around but when theres a will theres a way and i determined to find it.
Most already knew about the root before he posted, but I greatly appreciate you working on recovery and roms. Would you possibly have an eta on those or custom kernel's?

I then flashed Phil touch, there is a package out there to do it. Google Phil touch.
I have a Lenovo vibe x2, i used to have windows-phones but since my last one got stolen i thought i would try androids out. Lenovo has now updated vibe X2 to the lollipop upgrade and i can't find a video or anything that will help me root my device.
Plus i have some questions about rooting an android :
1st. does it worth to do so ?
2nd. What will i get from rooting my phone
3rd. Is it dangerous cause my phone might bug and what will i need to do if that happens ?
I would really appreciate someone answering those questions and helping me with the root.
(a trustful guide and trustful files will do just great, i am computer experienced enough to make it through it's just some fears i need to "extinguish" )

I found this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUGYK0tarBE
Although the title says Android 5.0 Lollipop but we can clearly see throughout the video that the guy is running android 4.4.2. Anyway, I've never heard of/tried kingroot so I can't be sure if its legit or not but you can give it a try.
And as for your questions:
1. Root is NOT a necessity. You can use google search to know about it and decide yourself.
2. Again you can find this by a google search.
3. There is always a risk when you mod your phone. Incase you somehow manage to brick it by that simple tutorial, I guess your device would have some stock firmware online which you can download and reflash by some kind of flashtool to restore to stock.
Cheers,
AJ
Okay, I admit, this website indimidates the hell out of me. I'm tech savy and not afraid to mess with things, but the level of new terminology here is staggering.
Anyway, now that you know I'm a wimp: I have a SGP561 Xperia Tablet Z2 from Verizon with Lollipo 5.0.2. I want to root it in order to install custom fonts on Photoshop Touch as I'm living abroad and using my tablet as my main computer while the beast lives back home.
I tried to use the Easy Root Tool but it failed. I assume this is because my firmware is too new and not exploitable as of yet, which means I have to downgrade I believe. I have found some files for flashing (?) but they aren't for the SGP561 specifically - does that matter? All I found were these for Xperia Z2 (not the tablet Z2?)
So, in the easiest language possible, can someone please give a step by step on how to downgrade my SGP561 to a rootable firmware and then flash (?) back to the latest firmware and keep root?
Please, please, please, and thank you.
Bump?
This site is frustrating as hell. Mods are quick to lock noob threads without offering help, and you're not allowed to ask questions in the areas where anyone who knows the friggin answer would ever be anyway! I have a rooted z3V running lollipop, etc, so I'm sort of familiar with the process. But developments had been made where rooting became easier.
I've been wading through endless threads filed with outdated crap trying to figure out how the hell to root my z2 tablet for 3 weeks. None of the way this stuff has been written makes ANY sense.
I'm on 5.02, and want root and dual recovery. Should be simple, right?
I don't even know where to ask the damned question anymore. I've downloaded virus filed $#!+ on my computer, thoroughly screwing it up, TWICE now, only to find I probably didn't even need that file. -Or do I? Download links are so old they don't go anywhere. Can't tell what's what here.
Even this thread ; a WEEK OLD, and no help.

I followed those steps in that link. It didn't work for me.
I could not downgrade to 17.1.D.0.437. The device was either in reboot cycle or in the status of in-completed flashed after I flashed the firmware ftf file provided in that post. I had to flash the latest firmware to restore the tablet. I was glad I didn't bricked my tablet.
