[Q] Camera FPS drop. - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys,my camera drops fps when recording from time to time (pretty often). It's recording with 30 fps and suddenly goes to 24 what makes the recording lag. Can anyone help me? Never happened before, and now this started. Why does it drop?
Nothing helps.

Are you saving your videos on SD card or internal mem?

Internal memory. Wiped everything, installed stock with Odin - still same.
This happened after 5 months of using AOSP. I went back to sstock and the problems started.

Up.

Help phone restarts when shooting video

Im using a Canadian Rogers Sony X10 thats not rooted. It has go launcher on it and a few apps but not a whole lot.
Whenever I try to make a video the phone randomly starts. Sometimes it will last a couple minutes and sometimes only 30 seconds. I tried clearing the cache on the camera app and did a full reset a month or so back cause I was having battery issues (which it didnt fix, ended up buying an awesome 3200 battery instead) so I dont know what else to try now. Everything else seems to be fine. Takes pictures fine.
Any suggestions??
Knowing that you cleared its cache and did a factory reset, it might be a hardware problem.
btw, nice 3200mah battery, can i have that? lol just kidding.

It agree. That it to check up, it is necessary reflashe phone with official or any unofficial ROM (necessary to clear all user data)
I was also having the same problem a few days ago.. I rooted my phone and got a little improvements.. Now my phone crash after 5 minutes recording... And if i change my Video resolution from HD to lower then time increases... And mostly it happens when i have battery lower than 55%...

Got the battery on ebay, with the case and shipping it was only like 15 bucks. One of the Chinese ones but so far so good.

well have did you do a factory reset, or reflashing the official rom? that might help.. and if you have done that and still no changes, it also might be a hardware problem. I think it's time to go to a repair center ^^

too bad i'm too young for online payments/shop/whatever , i heard it's a bit big for the back of the phone. is it true?
No it is not a hardware problem... I am back on android 2.1 and the camera is fine.. recorded video upto 12 minutes without crashing... with full brightness and HD resolution and also flashlight was turned on... I wanted to update to 2.3 for its multitouch capability but now i have got multitouch on 2.1 without issues...

Its thicker than the normal one but the case it comes with fits perfectly. Seemed big and heavy when I first popped it in but got used to it after a couple days
same problem here
Hello guys, any fix?
I found a way to reproduce this bug very fast:
1.open camera
2.set take pictures by touching the sscreen
3.set sound shutter off
4.take a pictures (8mp)
5.go to video recording
6.set capturing by touching the screen
7.set sound shutter off
8.start recording by touching the screen (720p HD)
9.BAM x10 shutting down after 2 secs
This is incredibly anoying!!! I have not tested this on 2.1 to see if it's OS version related or phone related.
But if you guys found a fix, can you please post it and/or pm me!
I've got the same issue..
Sent the device 2 times to S.E. for service and they didn't fix it.. (no
Although, they told me that it isn't a hardware issue cause they replaced the device's pcb both of 2 times..!
So,what's remaining next for me is to replace the battery,I've ordered a BST-41 (the original one) and I'm waiting for it next week..!
Hope I've helped somehow, will tell you if battery replacement is the solution..!

Galaxy S3 Freeze AFTER recording video??

Hi there. Today i just noticed some lag after i recorded a video. I recorded a video for about a minute and a half to 2 minutes each time and then when i pressed stop on the screen...it stopped recording but kind of jammed or froze on that same screen still showing the red stop button, both times it did this. Is that normal for Galaxy's to do or is it just my phone? I went to test it again later but i recorded a shorter video and was fine and no lag, but seems that larger or longer videos seem to freeze or jam it for a bit. I was in a very dusty, dirt road area and just maybe though something may of gotten into the phone and wrecked it a bit but just had it replaced with a brand new device nonetheless.

I personally haven't heard of/read about anyone experiencing this (nor have I experienced this myself) so maybe it's just an isolated incident - have you tried searching?
I regularly record 10 mins vids fine if it's of interest
Are/were you on stock?/root?
Are you on 4.1.2 stock rom with custom kernel ?
Then try to search its widely known issue
Hope this helps

What rom are you using custom? stock?
im on Android 4.0 stock rom. It happened two or 3 times yesterday. The device is as is out of the box...no root, nothing customised or anything.
If you are experiencing this issue recording to external microSD, try setting it to the internal SD card storage to see if it fixes the issue. If it does, then your microSD card might be dodgy.

ok cool yeah it is recording to external sd card. the card seems to work fine though, it reads and writes fine so maybe it just took time to save the whole file onto it?
I had this problem, too.
I enabled the camera stabilisation and the bug was gone...
Hope this was helpful

Camera not focusing?

I just got the HTC One not even 24 hours ago, and everything was perfect.. was..
The camera stopped focusing at anything, 1 inch away or 10 ft away or whatever distance, not even any mode will focus, not video, not slow motion. I even reset the phone to factory setting and it didn't fix it, so im guessing time for a replacement?

Had the same issue with mine, ended up returning it as it was a defective camera. Tested out several others in stores to make sure, I first thought it was because of the low pixels, but sure enough it was defective.

Mine has the same problem, it also is really slow. Like if I move the camera to look at something else, it would have a second delay

is that true?
p.s
or if any problem u had with 224
pls tell me
i wanna to if it worth to upgrade
thanks
The phone will overheat even without the update. It depends on more on your enviornment and the state of your phone.
If its winter and you're out in the snow and your phone has nothing else running and is fully charged, you could probably record for hours (until you run out of memory)

Instagram low fps stories problem

Hello,
Me and my friend are experiencing low fps story videos with Mi 8 Lite. If we record story with enough light it is fine but when we try to record at low light, the stories are 10-15 fps and looks pretty bad. Is there any way to get rid of this?
I had this problem on day 1, well i would suggest updating your phone if it hasn't already and using the stock camera when you can
Same problem

I have the same problem, and I try to do the video with the stock camera and then upload to Instragram Stories and do the same.
I think and hope the future new update fix this
