Ringtone issue - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

I have certain ringtones set-up for certain callers and, of course, a generic ringtone as well.
Well, I've had this problem happen SEVERAL times with both the new firmware and the old firmware. A person with a specific ringtone will only get that specific ringtone occasionally. It's really a crapshoot as to whether it will actually play or not.
For example, yesterday I had a friend call and I heard her specific ringtone. We lost signal in the middle of our conversation and 5 minutes later she called me back and I got the generic ring. Called me back from the same phone.
This phone is buggy buggy buggy.

Hope this helps
First off..... put your specific ring tones (Music or whatnot) on the internal storage of the phone. You may run into problems if you don't. Then, go to sounds and ADD the ringtones there. After that is done..... you shouldn't have anymore issues. Hope it helps

[Q] Can no longer receive calls!!! *resolved*

Seems that all of a sudden I can no longer receive calls. I thought it was just certain people since I had received calls before but now the people who were successful in the past can't get through any more. It's either just dead or says call not allowed from this device or those beeps you get when the recording says "if you'd like to make a call...".
I'm wondering if I inadvertently did something to cause this. I'm totally new to smartphones, android and sense. I've gone through settings that I know I went into and I can't find anything. I rebooted phone, leaving it off for a few minutes, still no incoming calls. I can call out though, even before reboot. Have not done any temp rooting since I'm still reading up on all that stuff and don't have a grasp on it yet.
I did install some apps but this seems to have started without connection to that although I can't be certain. I can gather a list of them if needed.
I'm thinking of doing a factory reset. I've backed up all the pics and videos I took over thanksgiving to my computer and I believe there's only one app that wasn't free that I got from the Amazon app store. Will all my contacts stay if I do a factory reset? I still have my old phone so I suppose I could get Verizon to transfer them over again, or maybe I can get them off my car since I just put them on there.
Oh!!! Would it have anything to do with me having set it up to use in my car? I was sending out music via bluetooth so I had to set it up as a "portable player" in my car. Maybe I changed something in the phone... I can't really remember and I'm not finding any settings in the music app or in the main settings.
Anybody know if there's something I might have done? Am I safe to do a factory reset?
Edit: One other thing I did to the phone was add a "Music" folder on the external sd and put in a bunch of music. I couldn't find how to do this in the manual or via google so I just hooked it up to my computer and tried that and it worked as far as listening to music. Doubt it would affect phone but wanted to be complete in this post.
Installing apps and making music folders should in no way affect your ability to receive phone calls. Sounds like you need to call Verizon.

Agreed, before you go resetting anything call *611 from your handset or whatever Verizon's 800 number is and see if they screwed something up(more than likely)

Yeah, I called earlier but I don't have another phone to call from so I'll have to go down there. I made her promise they would compensate me for my time since I complained about switching from AT&T and having problems already.
Hahahaha.... I inadvertently turned on call forwarding and it was forwarding to number 9. I know exactly how I accidentally did it too. I was clearing out my old AT&T contacts which had come over and they all start with *. I wanted to be certain they were not Verizon numbers so I dialed each one first and one of them activated the forwarding. I didn't seem to get any notification of it being turned on that I noticed.
Needless to say I thanked the guy at Verizon for finding out what it was and did NOT ask for any compensation.
Glad you got it all figured out I would have been in panic mode!
I almost did that when he started talking about me having to return it to Amazon for a replacement. I immediately started thinking no! I have red buttons! My phone doesn't overheat or reboot on its own! What if I get a bad one. Plus they're on backorder there! I need a phone, my old one is AT&T!! LOL.

[Q] Short silence while in call

Since I got my phone, this happens: I call someone, we talk for a couple of seconds, then the line goes completely silent for a second or two, and then it comes back.
I tried everything except flashing a whole new ROM and trying a different SIM card. Multiple modems are of no help.
Got tips?
Just to answer those who might have the same problem: I disabled the noise filtering stuff from calling properties, all works pretty much as it should now.

[Q] Custom ringtone problem

I've just got my new Xperia Go set up, updated to stock ICS and rooted (using some of the helpful threads on this forum!) so I could install Google Apps as my phone originally came with rubbish Chinese apps/store/etc, but now whenever I select custom ringtones for various contacts I have a strange problem: I can select the ringtones fine (I'm choosing various MP3s as the basic ringtones are mostly terrible and I like to know who's calling from the song), but then whenever someone (say, caller B) calls me the phone plays the ringtone from the previous caller (caller A) instead of the one for caller B. And then the next caller after that (caller C) will get the ringtone from caller B, then caller D will get caller C's tone and so on, which is obviously pretty useless for identifying who the caller is, unless the same person calls me twice in a row!
Any ideas why and how I can fix it? My only guess is that maybe the MP3s are too big so the phone can't load them in time? Though I never had this problem on my old Nokia phone, and they're only around 5mb each. I also can't find anyone else having the same problem, and if this was the case I would guess it would be fairly common. But then this would also be true if it's a general bug. Otherwise I guess it's some problem identifying the caller? But then why would the correct ringtone for the previous caller always be played for the next caller? I also tried moving the ringtones from the Ringtones folder on the internal card to media\audio\ringtones on the SD card, but this didn't make any difference.
Unfortunately I can't remember if the problem occurred when the phone was running GB before I updated to ICS, as I updated it fairly quickly after I got it so hadn't bothered customizing it yet.
Thanks!

[Q] AOKP PUB 12/27 Sounds issues

I love Steve's AOKP PUB Rom but I seem to have one really irritating issue upon using it. I set my ringtone and notification sounds to the ones i always use. Pyxis for Ringtone, and Don't Panic for notifications. Then i noticed that i was not hearing the sounds during incoming phone calls and texts. So i go into the sound setting to see whats up and they both have unrecognized sounds listed. When i try to re-establish the original setting all the choices are gone except for 2 or 3 instead of the usual several dozen. If i use Root Explorer to go into the media folder all the ogg files are still present. Sometimes they come back upon a reboot. Sometimes they dont. Anyone else seen this or know whats happening? Thanks.

Same here. I'm back of AOKPBRAVO at the moment because of the sound issues. One thing that helped me a bit was to disable vibrate with ring and have ring only but it still would lose the ringtone and on calls the screen would light up and i had missed calls because the ringtone wouldn't be recognized.
I have noticed this same issue and believe I have found a work around for the problem. First take off the Vibrate on incoming calls. Then in the root of your sdcard there is a ringtones folder. Make sure that the ringtone is in that folder. With some of these new roms, they will only play ringtones that are in that folder plus the default that the developer chooses. Go into contacts and set the ringtone for the contact. First I would do it as a test ringtone on a number you can call from. If you have the same ringtone for multiple people then you have to make a new copy of that file. It will only play it for the last contact you assign it too. That is how I cleared my troubles with it. Hope this works out for you.

[Q] Phone Rings Once, then stops

Hi!
My phone rings once, then stops ringing. I can still answer calls, but I have to be looking at the phone in order to see that there is an incoming call. I use Zedge and switched ringtones to make sure it wasn't a corrupt file, but no luck so far.
Thanks for your help
You probably have quiet ring on pickup activated so when you move the phone the motion silences the phone.
If you want to turn it off go to settings-sound- scroll down to quite ring on pick-up and UN check, that should take care of it.
