Well good sir, thanks for replying. I need help here, Usually when I want to go back to stock firmware I just flash the ftf file of the respective android version for my device... mundane stuff really; but today I tried doing the same, but flashtool refuses to flash FOTA kernel (stuck at loading data)
I have Locked bootloader
I Have reinstalled 3 different versions of flashtool
I have tried 3 different sources for the same ftf
I am using the T2 Ultra Dual btw
Flashtool flashes system and data fine, and then I boot into stock like nothing happened (I mean I lose root and recovery and it looks completely stock)
but I remember that I used to flash the ftf as a complete package without excluding the kernel etc.
now flashtool doesnt let me flash the stock ftf as a whole
I was rooted, with NUT's Dual recovery

Well, there's your problem. The T2 Dual is not the Z Ultra. Two different devices. You should be in this section.

1. I obviously searched there first... no one seems to have had a problem even remotely similar to mine
2. T2 Ultra is not that popular a device... So if I find someone with a different device but the same/similar problem, I'd have better luck there right?
3. Since excluding the fotakernel.sin before flashing "solves" the issue, I am not actually worried... Just curious, because a stock ftf should be flashable 'as is'
4. I have exams going on now, and if I don't find a solution anywhere on the Internet in the meantime, only then will I consider opening a new thread in my device's section.

Aha! I thought you tried to flash the Z Ultra kernel, which obviously won't work. I'm not sure what the problem might be, but have you checked out the Flashtool thread? I bet one of the devs can help you out if they're available.

This is the only thing I can think of and it may not even apply. The part about not being able to use flashtool for elf with S1 bootloader in particular.

Hmmm... I had a look, and although I found keywords like fotakernel.sin and flashtool that got my hopes up, the thing is, my bootloader is locked.. And that's why I am using flash-mode and not fastboot... So i can't flash anything except the stock ftf. And that's the weird thing about it... Even the ftf file won't flash now until I exclude fotakernel.sin b4 flashing. I will post logs in a new thread soon, probably over the weekend. I'll paste a link here too

You wrote that you did not make a TA Backup. No you will not be able to go back to stock rom with all functions restored.
However there is a project here on XDA forum that will give you this functionality when you are on a Sony based rom with unlocked bootloader.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/xperia-z1-z2-z3-series-devices-drm-t2930672
This project port of the original .so and bin files to any SONY based rom so that the system will be able to use the proprietary functions even with unlocked bootloader.
To use this project. You would need to first flash any Sony based rom. Latest Stock rom from flashtool if you would like that.
Then flash TWRP recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z-ultra/development/twrp-recovery-2-8-7-0-2016-02-03-t3307043
Put this file on the internal storage of your phone: http://www.mediafire.com/download/o...SxEXR]+DRM+function+restore+V3(Z1,ZU,Z1C).zip
Boot to recovery and flash the file.
Reboot and enjoy the functions.

This thread was created initially by me when flashtool appear on market
In the beginning of the week i was contacted by G-FACE to offer his help cause he had created a thread similar to this one on a site of his country. He offered himself to translate and i´ll put the translation here.

So, the next posts and despite the fact it appears like it was written/created by me that´s WRONG! He did it after contact mods and give him access to do so.

The first and most important thing is to be sure that Flashtool recognizes your phone:
Start Flashtool
Connect the phone with the computer via USB cabel
Wait till flashtool shows that your device is recognized. You will see your phone model on "Connected device:"
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
If you see in “Connected device” the name of your phone model you are good to go for next steps.
If your phone is not recognized by Flashtool that means you don’t have the required drivers installed.
Open folder /Flashtool/drivers and install ggsetup-2.2.0.11
If after the above Flashtool still doesn’t recognize your phone, do the following:
From Flashtool/drivers folder extract the zip file XXX_ADB_driver which corresponds to your phone model
Open “Device manager” on the computer and find the device which is with an exclamation mark on it (do this with connected to the computer phone)
Right click on the device and choose Uptade driver
Choose to find the driver manually and browse to the folder where you’ve extracted the zip file.
That should install the required drivers on your computer.

Isn't it possible to flash only MT update? Flashing only kernel.sin will not work? Do I have to flash my firmware also?

Did you even read 2nd post, do you? LOL
If you already have 2.1 just install kernel.ftf
You can dw from 1st post.
Once again you didn't read. LOL

When you create the ftf file it seems to make no difference if the laoder.sin is included. The flash tool gets its own laoder sin. I've tried both include and not. Both ftf file flashed OK.
Why is loader.sin included in build of ftf?

Hi. I tried to use the search engine but I couldn't find anything.
when I got my xperia x10 mini (e10a) it was on 1.6 version then when I upgraded it went straight to 2.1.1.a.0.6 I wonder if is there some way to downgrade it to 2.0.a.0.24 because we can't find as much stuff (like themes) for the 2.1 like we find for 2.0.
Thank You so much
the Cyanogen rom works well with the latest fw 2.1.1.a.0.6... for me ofcoz.
if that what bothers you, here take a look at here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=895947
i've found something posted by owain flasher where you can flash the old baseband and fw, i'll try to look around.

Just an addition before New Year's Day.
Since the last firmware, is not yet been rooted, i followed zdzihu's method and made a rooted firmware with xrecovery already installed.
In order to install this firmware, you need to install xrecovery first.
Also if you have already flashed with 2.0.2.A.0.24 through SEUS, please downgrade!
Requirements:
DOWNLOAD>>X10 mini flasher
DOWNLOAD>>2.0.2.A.0.24PACK.tar.bz2
You will also need an X10 mini rooted with xrecovery installed
Instructions:
1. Download and unpack 2.0.2.A.0.24PACK.tar.bz2. It contains 2 files: update.zip and 2.0.2.A.0.24FlasherFiles folder
2. Copy update.zip to SD Card
3. Copy 2.0.2.A.0.24FlasherFiles folder inside the flasher's folder.
4. Boot into xRecovery and install update.zip
5. Open flasher and press "Flash" tab
6. Choose "2.0.2.A.0.24FlasherFiles" and flasher will show "Searching for Xperia..."
7. Plug the phone on usb
8. Choose "Reboot" option on recovery and right after the screen goes blank, keep the "back" button pressed until the green light is on.
If you don't succeed at first, press home and on/off button while connected on usb and simultaneusly "back" button.
Make sure you understand the installation process before you try!
EDIT
If by any chance you have installed a new theme and you want to go back to the stock one,
DOWNLOAD STOCK THEME, and flash it through recovery
All credits go to:
zdzihu, for xrecovery and for all this actually, as i followed his method.
Bin4ry for the flasher, saved my @ss from many many bricks.
aZuZu for his SIN2IMG tool. Works great!
DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IN ANY WAY, IF YOU BRICK YOUR DEVICE.
USING THIS METHOD AND FILES, IS DONE BY YOUR OWN CHOICE.
Happy New Year, everyone!

Hey bro,
No you shouldnt be in xrec. Just in flash mode (just like if you use SEUS - if you've used it). Once you get to the step where it says "Searching for Xperia..." turn off your device unplug usb cord hold the back button and insert usb cable. The little led should show up solid green to let you know your in flash mode.
Cheers,
evilbarcode.

As evilbarcode said, you wouldn't need to be in xrecovery mode. And follow the instructions step by step. And it should work just fine.

Hey bro,
The flash-tool itself is for all sony xperia models (x10a/i(big x10) - u20a/i(mini pro - e10a/i(mini)). The fw files you need will be the ones specific to your phone not the flash-tool itself. Understand?
Follow the instructions in this thread to get the fw files you need.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=943645
If you need more help just ask.
Cheers,
evilbarcode.
Edit: And yes you can use SEUS to get phone back to how it was.
Thanks for all the help evilbarcode
but it doesn't show the searching for xperia...

Hey bro,
Your welcome. Glad you got that last part sorted. What this means is that to use flashtool you need unknown sources enabled (settings>applications>check "allow unknown sources") and debugging enabled (settings>applications>development>check "debugging")
Hope this helps, let me know.
Cheers,
evilbarcode.
just follow what evilbarcode posted and it should fix your problem.

good luck mate.
Hopefully I've put this in the right place, I know its a old topic but I jsut bought a x10a and stupidly tried to update it to 2.33.
Here's the short:
I read and reread everything here till I thought I was comfortable trying to update.
Finally got the flashtool, ver 2.1, 2.5, 2.6, and 2.9 (tried all of them)
2.9 just errored out no matter what i tried to flash
2.5 and 2.6 seemed to work, said it was complete
Once I removed my phone and tried powering it on I got a quick green light flas and vibrate but nothing else.. Never powers on.
Read more.. Tried charging it overnight etc.. Nodda.
I've tried over and over to download the flash form this site.. No server.. Searched google and found several even one with the same filename as the one here.. Nodda..
So I'm stuck... Green flash and vibrate but never powers on.. Can ANYONE help?
What is it you're flashing? Flashtool is on ver0.6.8 now.
Edit: on second thoughts, try downloading PC companion and perform a return to stock using the update/repair utility.

Nodda, tried that a few times. Power it on and the green flash and vibrate and then nothing. Have to remove and replace the battery to do it again.
Do you know somewhere else I can get flashtool 6.8? The site says I cannot download it from the U.S.

You can find it in the x10 Development thread; its a sticky. Have you tried downloading the Sony PC companion to your PC and using the repair/update tool to return the phone to its original state?
Sent from my X10i using xda premium
Yes, I've been at this for almost 24 hours straight trying to get my phone atleast back how it was before this mess. I've read a BUNCH of posts about my issue (Try to power on and green light flashes and quick vibrate then nothing) But no one seems to know the answer to this so far.
PC Compainion only see's a Generic Sony Phone now. Will only detect it in flashmode.
Update says its up to date. Repair downloads its files and then errors out when it starts to install them

Ya, I'm sure I'm using it correctly and like I said, theres several posts with the same issue but no answers to the problem.
Update is that I reflashed to a 2.1 Generic and now it atleast turns on for a minute. I see the Sony logo and then a yellow exclamation mark, shuts off, and reboots.
Researching it seems like I need to put it back to factory firmware, unfortunatly I cannot find what I need. AT&T 2.1a firmware.

UPDATE:
After several more hours of messing with it I was never able to sucessfully flash it to 2.3.3
HOWEVER, I was able to finally unbrick it.
Couldnt get PC Companion or Update Service to ever work. Would go to install and end up failing. So I desided to get out my old laptop with Windows XP on it. My machine I'd been using was Windows 7 64bit. Well.. XP worked like a champ. Update Service was able to restore my phone back original and get it back up and running (FINALLY)
I did notice that no matter what flash version I used, when I did a detect on S1 it still showed ATT-1-2-5-6_2.1.A.0.492
I may be wrong but thats still Android 2.1 from AT&T?
Today I called AT&T and got the sim unlock code for my phone and switched to T Mobile... I'm half temped to give this another shot but I have a feeling its the flashs I've downloaded thats the problem as I cannot download them form the links on this forum (server was shut down)

Hi, glad to hear you "unbricked" your phone. I think your problem may be caused by trying to flash a X10i firmware instead of an X10a firmware for AT&T X10. I've heard similar issues before, but now since your with a different carrier, it'd be a lot more easier. I may be wrong.
Trust me I'd much rather use 2.1 than stock unrooted gingerbread, which has some fps problems that makes it a pain to use. I'd recommend rooting it and flashing the fps uncap, or a custom ROM.
If you want to proceed, you have two choices.
1. Painfully use stock gingerbread, root it and install fps uncap or custom ROM with xRecovery.
2. Gain root access in 2.1 and install a gingerbread ROM. Power off device, don't bother booting it as it will not boot. Flash 2.3.3 baseband and kernel.ftf via flashtool, follow the instructions.
Watch out for unlocked bootloader ROMs, I'd wait a bit for you to gain a bit of experience just incase something goes wrong.
If you aren't feeling lucky then I'd recommend just sticking with good old 2.1, the process takes a while to get used to and is quite risky.
Hope this helps.
I think I have a pre rooted 2.3.3 ftf if you're on baseband 71

Hello, have you follow all instructions before installing Gingerbread? What is the version of gingerbread you have installed? You have before installing it unlock bootloader (you can't see Sony Ericsson Logo after unlocked bootloader), or, if you have downloaded a version wich goes with stock kernel, you haven't installed x-recovery first. Try to unlock your bootloader and read all instructions mentionned at the first page of the page you have donwloaded the rom.
Sorry for english.
Also to get back to 2.1 you must choose repair in SEUS or it won't do it

or...did you try this mode?:
1-unplug USB, turn on Companion, select Support Zone, select start, select update software, select repair the phone, select E10i=X10 mini (or your device).
2-Plug USB your bricked phone, and press three buttons at once and hold it: Power+Home+Back, when you note a little vibration (the phone begin to restart), inmediatly release Power+Home buttons but let pressed Back button...
You see Companion will detect correctly your phone in flash mode and you back to stock firm+kernel.
...And a very good quide for root, unlock bootlader safely...etc is the Flastool guide :

What is what (for newbies)
What is flashtool :
Flashtool is a desktop application that you can use to flash Sony software on your unlocked Xperia™ device. This is useful if you’ve for example flashed a custom ROM on your device, and want to go change to a standard Sony software. This flash tool can only be used by Xperia™ devices having an unlocked boot loader.
What is bootloader :
What Is A Bootloader?
In literal terms, bootloader is code that is executed before any Operating System starts to run. The concept of bootloaders is universal to virtually all Operating systems that inculcates operating systems on your PC, laptop, smartphones, and other such devices. Bootloaders basically package the instructions to boot operating system kernel and most of them also have their own debugging or modification environment. As the bootloader kicks off before any piece of software on your device, it makes it extremely processor specific and every motherboard has it’s own bootloader. This is one reason that all Android phones have different Custom ROMS developed due to high variance of processing hardware present on the device. The iDevices running iOS somewhat share the same hardware specs and hence you don’t see much variance in their bootloaders.
Android Bootloaders
Every Android phone has a bootloader that instructs the operating system kernel to boot normally. But you need to understand one thing here that as Android OS is an open source OS and is available on a variety of different hardware, every manufacturer has their own version of bootloader specific for the hardware present in it’s environment. We also saw couple of weeks back that Motorola packaged an “eFuse” command in their Android phones, which could brick (permanently turn off) your device in case you tried to flash a Custom ROM.
Why Is Bootloader Locked?
A bootloader is usually locked on an Android device because although it’s an open source OS, still the manufacturers want you to stick to their Android OS version specifically designed for the device. In order to apply this concept, manufacturers lock the bootloader. With a locked bootloader on Android devices, it is virtually impossible to flash a Custom ROM and forced attempts void warranty as well as usually end up in bricks. Therefore, the first step is to always unlock the bootloader.
Why To Unlock Bootloader On Android Devices?
The explanation to this question is really simple. If you want root, you’d be wanting to flash Custom ROM post-root, and if you want to install a Custom ROM, you’d need to have your stock bootloader unlocked. In simple terms Unlocking the bootloader allows you to install custom Firmware on your Android phone.
What is fastboot mode and flash mode :
Our Plays have two low-level ways of interacting with our computers. The first one is the Flash mode, which alllows us to install complete firmware packages in FTF packages. FTF stands for "FlashTool File", so we need to use the famous Flashtool with them. The second one is the Fastboot mode, which we can use for some maintenance operations. However, the important functions for us are related with kernels: Fastboot allows us to change the kernels of our devices.
