Bugs
Bluetooth won't enable... seems permissions related?
As usual, this wouldn't be possible without all the hard work from @crpalmer and the CM team in general.
In fact he already did most of the bringup for Slim, so apologies for dragging on this one - I know people were waiting for it.
Enjoy! I am thinking I can keep up with the weekly schedule Slim does, I'll try to coordinate my builds with their weeklies as best I can.
Let me know!
OK, audio was easily fixed... just needed to add audio-caf
Other issues are still present.
Good news! Thank you very much for bringing SlimBean to us! ☺

Awesome. Of course this drops right as I'm heading out of town and can't flash, but that's how my life goes. If you're not sure you've got the right repo and such, ask the guys in the N5 thread. They often help people trying to make their own builds. Friendly bunch there. Thanks for your work on this (and of course crpalmer!).

See the post I quoted, it's fixed.
I've also fixed the keyboard issue... I guess I should play with different values, but the values used for CM didn't work... default is 4, crpalmer adjusted to 5... which worked for other ROM's. I just tried 15 for fun, and it worked.
Going to attempt 6 and see if that is good enough. I'm not sure what the negative effect would be of turning up this divider tho?
I finally got a chance to flash this and though I haven't tested everything possible, so far I've not encountered a single issue. I'm just thrilled to death. It's just like on my Nexus 5. I can't thank you, @arrrghhh (and of course @crpalmer for his device wizardry) enough.

I've never used BT on my tab, never saw the need...
I'll try it later. Thanks for the report.
I would never use it either if it weren't for my MOGA controller and Dead Trigger 2.

If using the Tab for WiFi calls (Groove IP, &c), Bluetooth becomes a useful feature to have.

I didn't say it was useless, I just didn't see a need for it.
Also, isn't GrooveIP basically dead now that Google removed support for third parties?
I wish Hangouts was as good on Android as it was on iOS... sad really. But I digress, I'll look at the issue...

lol, Slim likes to use a different DPI. I believe Slim is working towards a DPI updater on-the-fly... otherwise you'll have to adjust it in the build.prop.
No Doubt...

Understood as to your statement of its utility, inasmuch as one person's feature is another's bloat. As to Groove IP rendered dead, it was given another span of life via the entity Ring.to. Swift to establish, and a host of additional numbers to grab. Works flawlessly.
I as you am dumbfounded by the superior quality of Hangouts for iOS.
Thanks for all you do.

I've noticed apps seem to treat the tablet as though it has a menu button. No three dot button in UI or menu button appears in soft keys. Is there a build.prop edit or something that can fix this?

And it may take till Christmas to get one. The Exynos processor in it makes it harder to work with, from what I understand. The 8.4 has the better supported Snapdragon 800 and is not too different from the Note 3.

I was surprised to see this ... Used to run Carbon Roms on a whole bunch of devices.
Very solid right now, I installed this on one of my many TF201's.
Couple of things to report...
1. Bluetooth when turning on and off FC very frequently.
2. When you go to set a carbon wallpaper the preview wallpaper covers the buttons to select.
3. Replaced stock launcher with Nova, running very nicely.
4. Pretty rapid battery drain. I have been used to HB 1.51 & 2.2 and does not drain as quick.
5. OMG so many options/customizations.
6. Is there a issue when you place the tablet into the dock and not have it charging? Ran into that a few times.
Have not tested HDMI and MOGA & PS3 controls with it. Are there any issues with the controls with this rom?
Other than that so far -- SOLID!
Am I the only one who can't get PIE controls working? Could anyone point me to a sort of tutorial or how-to guide for using PIE? I've seen demo videos of what it looks like when working, but I'm wondering what settings to adjust/turn-on to get it working in the first place. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but it just isn't working for me!
Thanks in advance!

Okay, in order:
1. I can't replicate it on my end. Could you describe what exactly is force closing?
2. This isn't a device-specific problem, my SIII has the same issue. I'll look into fixing it later. It works fine in portrait orientation.
3. Nova is a nice launcher, isn't it?
4. Don't know if I can do much about that, apart from trying to tune a few settings.
5. Yeah, but it's nice.
6. I haven't noticed a problem, but let me know if it persists

Thanks. Is expanded desktop the same as "dual panel mode"? Or am I missing the specific setting somewhere?

As far is the Bluetooth -- I would go into Settings --> Turn On/Off. It has only FC on me once today, I wiped the cache/dalvik and has not happened again.
Also, I am on my PC and in the Play Market -- I am trying to install apps from the market place and it's not downloading from the play store on the tablet. I hope I didn't confuse you, lol.

Is there a specific reason as to why every ROM I'm on, if I use PIE, or Halo I get ridiculous lag? My notification stutters a great amount, and it seems as if the phone struggles to even change menus in the settings. I can't seem to find any resolution to this problem. I love the Galaxy Note a great amount, but this is making me want to switch to another phone. I've tried almost everything possible, even to the point where I wiped all of my precious data.

I've noticed lag when dealing with Halo, do not use it an only used it to test. Have used PIE before but no lag as you mentioning. If you are running both that could be the reason. Personally I do not use either so disable those and you should notice a difference. If not, re-wipe and re-flash and start over.

what ROM are you running is a good question. if you have a ripple effect on lockscreen, disabling that can help. if not as suggested disabling you Halo and even Pie is a possible start. I would then go to application manager and force stop if process is still running and then clear cache.
see how it runs then. if no lag, you can always restart Pie to try again. if lag comes back, there is your problem. if you have the Halo option, then I have a pretty good idea what kind of ROM you are running. I would think that it is a 4.2 ROM. if that is the case, you most likely have some Kernal options to try.
if it is one of JAIMED81's ROM's, he has a Q&A thread and you could get recommendations there as to which Kernal will work with which ROM.
good luck

Try this set up and see if it works, it's what I am running right now and so far is flawless.
Download; Carbon Rom, they are nightlies so grab the most recent one
Download; Uber Kernel
Download: Trickster Mod
Flash the rom and kernel and the gapps. Once up and running
Download: Trickster mod and sslauncher or any other launcher that you like if you feel the need to do so.
Trickster settings and info as follows:
Scroll to specific and turn off MP Decision hit the check mark at the top right hand corner
Scroll to General: Setting I have are -
TCP: cubic
Read Ahead: 3072
scheduler: sio
Frequency Lock: On
Min- 384000
Max - 1620000

Be sure to hit the check mark after each change and hit the menu button when done with all and set on boot, click enable and notification, can also click delay if you would like a delay.
Should help speed you up some.

what I think I will do, is no longer quote what base a ROM is. maybe its just my terminology that is wrong. all the more reason right?
what I keep seeing in OP's is "all merges from CM10"(for example) now that I am paying a bit more attention, that is for kernel?
go easy on me, I am still trying to learn some of this stuff. I don't mean to give any offense in misquoting the base of a ROM. all respect to you and the others who sacrifice for us. I just try and help whenever I can so the big brains don't have to sweat the small stuff.
this may be the 2nd or maybe 3rd time you have caught me in my terminology blunder.
again, I will either double check or not quote.

Requires Xposed Framework!
This module allows you to tap the status bar to scroll (smoothly, at least that's what the API says) to the top of lists.
This isn't compatible with all lists in this first version. Chrome for example isn't compatible, or some manufacturer lists (like the Contacts app in TouchWiz).
If this is patented by a fruit-based company, it'll most likely get a C&D, so keep that in mind when you look forward to updates
Demo:

Known bugs:
Manufacturer specific lists and some other custom scrollers (e.g Chrome) aren't supported yet.
Compatibility:
4.0 - 4.4 probably, I really haven't checked the source code, tested on Sony's 4.3.

I do, this took about 2 hours, inspired by a post on Reddit with Android's pros and cons, the code implementation hit me while I was driving home

Yeah I don't code much anymore but that's what used to be the biggest roadblock in most complicated projects I would start. Figure out a way to do it effectively.
Glad it hit you! :victory:
Nice. Works well in tapatalk. Thanks!

It's Apple's not mine
That's stock behavior on iOS.
A bit far fetched, but do you believe it would be possible to add support for more than the standard list? Such as webview?
Since it seems a lot of apps are actually just frontends for a page in webview, plus a lot of browsers using webview, I imagine this could be the next target of your thinkering and would cover most cases. It would be great to be able to scroll to top in a browser too.

I'm looking into Chrome, they supposedly use some kind of standard scroller, since they have the blue overscroll indicator.
I've been looking for something like this since I left iOS. Hopefully you can get it working with chrome. This is great mod indeed!

nicely done, works flawlessly... i have few suggestions/comments
-having little issues with facebook app, it kinda works: moves up by a little but not all the way to the top.
-if possible, allow user to choose the scroll speed when status bar is tapped on? to me, it is kind of slow sometimes... just my opinion
anyway, really appreciate your works for xperia devices. :highfive:
many thanks:fingers-crossed:

Facebook take a few taps. Twitter is working perfectly! I'm sure this will be fixed!

Facebook switched me to the new version, and it works fine there, I guess you'll have to wait for the update that includes that, or Facebook downgrades my account
Second part is controlled by the system, I use a method called smoothScrollTo(0, 0). I'm not sure if that can be easily changed

If you get it magically working with Chrome chances are you'll make it work for a lot of other apps. So that's sweet.
Works great on s3-4.3.
Even with Firefox.
Thnx.

Seems like it causes certain apps to force close. Tapatalk for example, if I go in a topic then back by pressing the back key to my followed topics then press the status bar it will force close. What do you need from me to help diagnose this?
Edit: it does scroll to the top before closing though.
Edit 2: doesn't crash anymore, found out it's because of a broken pvr driver. Ignore this haha
What theme are you using? Is it a CM theme or something I can do with Xposed?
Really awesome module too! Saw it on reddit
Great module, thanks!

Greetings - I found this ROM runs quite well, and has some nice options.
Still having some odd keyboard issues - gesture typing doesn't display, although works. Long press on keys also work, but similarly nothing is displayed (other than the kb dimming)
Enjoy!

That's a CM problem which will likely just magically fix itself when I fix it for CM unless you want to fix it first and then send it back my way...

Thanks for the info mate. I hope I can actually start to help a bit here now that I'm tearing into the device.
You've done a great job tho, without the CM trees none of these other ROM's would even boot!

No problem. I really wanted an 8" tablet with an msm8974 processor and this was all there was, but, man, Samsung doesn't do software.
Thanks for the offer to help (hopefully that was a general offer!). I think I've fixed this specific problem, just waiting on a build on another device to make sure I didn't somehow screw it up (unfortunately, the fix is in packages/inputmethods/LatinIME so the change will affect all devices).
I don't see a download link for gapps. Any pictures? Coming from an other ROM which -local- way is suggested to restore data like mail settings if I do not use cloud services? TB?

Feel free to use whatever gapps you wish. CM's, PA's 0-day...
I spose I can take some screenshots.
Mail settings... I never really figured out how to transfer, at least not for my corporate email. For gmail, well that's simple. For my corporate email, I had to re-setup the account every time... I couldn't figure out how to backup the settings with TB even. Just a user/pass and the server... so I guess not a big deal, but a bit annoying.
Rom runs real well. I use it all the time...Video recorder does not work: "HFR not supported.." Not that important. Any solution?

Interesting. I need to rebuild with all the changes, I can't seem to keep up with crpalmer .
I will rebuild and let you know if a fresh build exhibits the same behavior. I assume you are clean flashing?

Yes clean flashing. Sould add that other cameras than standard save video recordings.
New build in the OP, new host as well.... my old hosting is going away.
I found the camera would take video from the back cam, if you turned it down to 720p. Also, the vid cam that comes with the 'full' PA Gapps package seems to work fine, although I couldn't find a resolution setting there.
Keyboard etc fixes from crpalmer baked in.

Sorry folks, I don't blind build. I only develop for devices I own, which I can test on.
However, if there is CM then other ROM's can fairly easily be ported. Just a matter of someone with the device stepping up.
In the correct device area for 'just' the 12.2, there isn't much. I haven't seen CM yet. But I would like to someday build or port and help out others with the 12.2.
Are these builds still going?

Well, this ROM actually ran really well - but there didn't seem to be an ounce of interest, everyone wanted SlimROM at the time.
I spose now that it's official I will start building Gummy again if there's interest...?

Very very nice to see yet another amazing ROM on this great device! I ran slim for a long time back on my s3 and loved it, so needless to say I'm excited to try it again! Thank you!!
Had dt2w been disabled or not in the kernel
Yes!! My day just got better ^__^
The question is....what works and what doesn't?
Yes another ROM to play with. Still have this loaded up on my old S3
Just flashed, holy crap is this thing fast!! I don't seem to have the Tap to Wake feature working. Is there something I need to turn on?? Looked and couldn't find it.

I can't find anything on this, either...no double tap to wake working on my end.
Same issues with Proximity Sensor as on CM Rom, also lost Root so couldn't logcat.. Thanks I'll try again later!

You can get root back in the settings. Its in developer options. You have to choose apps + adb I believe. I lost root as well until I did that.
as to dt2w i am looking into it and as for root we manually disable it so you have to enable Root Apps + ADB in Developer options in Settings.
Beautiful ROM. Great work. Its super fast and has all the slim features. It even reads my SD card which is something liquid, cm, and vanir didn't do. (I really didn't want to reformat that card.) No bugs so far.
I do miss the double-tap on feature though. Does anyone have a suggestion, app, or workaround to get that working? Play store doesn't have much to offer to assign a shortcut or gesture through nova prime.
Oops...just saw dev post regarding this. Posted at the same time. My bad.
Awwww yeah!
