[Q] Is this the right forum? - AT&T HTC One (M8)

Hi all. Soon (as soon as I end my mega carrier contract) I will be purchasing an unlocked HTC One M8 direct from HTC. I will use a nano simm from the new Cricket Wireless.
I believe this unlocked version is same as ATT&T sku. Buying unlocked, I can freely change carriers, and avoid a lot of bloat ware.
My question is, Is this the correct forum for that phone / carrier combination? I ask because I am sure I will be rooting, experimenting, etc.
Thank you all in advance!

It is and you'll find more in the international forums here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8
Roms on that forum will state whether they're safe to use on the AT&T version.

[Q] Report a different device/hardware to the carrier

Hi everyone. I have a Samung Vibrant, which for some reason T-Mobile doesn't allow to use their Data-Only plan. It's rooted but not unlocked. My question is: Can I make the device report that it's a different device to T-Mobile? For example, can I make T-Mobile think that my phone is an HTC HD2 (which is allowed to use the data-only plan)?
No one? Nothing?

Asked 1 million times already? Maybe....

Hello all- I would like to purchase the Black in color HTC One M7. Unlocked / AT&T version doesnt matter I to me. The big question is will I lose ANYTHING over purchasing the actual Tmobile version? I Have to have reliable WIFI calling and I want to make sure that I have access to all Tmobile bands.
Is this possible for a Scooby Snack with some of the Rooted S Off roms? Or should I just suck it up and stay with the Silver T-Mobile Branded M7.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and possibly help a Scooby out!

If memory serves me correct,
The ATT and Unlocked variant do not do the 1700mhz/2100mhz combo that TMO has the bulk of their network on. You would be limited to the re-farmed 1900mhz stuff they have up.
If your going to use it on TMO network best to get a TMO branded HTC One M7 then customize it as you want. Just my 2 cents..

[Q] AT&T roms or Tmobile roms?

I have a AT&T branded M8 that I use on Tmobile because it is sim unlocked. My question is, do I flash custom roms from the Tmobile xda board or do I stick with AT&T roms only? I've never use a nonbranded phone! Thank you.
Its a tricky question, actually. In general any ROM meant for the GSM M8 should be "safe" to flash, in that they won't damage your phone and will work for the most part (but stay away from the CDMA ROMs for Verizon and Sprint). But some ROMs might work better on your specific (T-Mobile) network. Also, a different radio may or may not affect reception. The most you can really do is to read up or ask other T-Mobile users (or even T-Mobile customers using the AT&T version M8 like you) what has resulted from trial and error; or experiment yourself.

dumb question

wich one is the rooting section for canadian verson of m8 is it like samsung you use at & t section
Not really a dumb question. You are probably fine on the "international" or generic One M8 section. All ROMs for the GSM variants will work on your version. Also, many of the general and Q&A threads there (as well as this AT&T version section) will apply to your version. But you will have to use some judgement and discretion. While all M8's are identical in hardware, there are subtle network/radio differences between the carrier versions.
Also, depending on your carrier, lots of the info in the AT&T section can be handy. For instance, Rogers and Bell Canada (not sure about other Canadian carriers) share the same/similar network with AT&T, and the companies were all the same company (or partially owned by AT&T) at in one point.

Carrier Unlocking the U.S. S9/S9+

My question remains, when carrier unlocking an s9 or s9+, is there any way to make it available on different network types like say if the phone started out using a carrier that uses CDMA, is their any way to flash it to utilize t-mobile's frequency bands?
I unlocked two galaxy s9+'s that were on xfinity, which uses verizon towers. The two phones did unlock, but only for carriers utilizing CDMA. I was hoping they would be able to be used on t-mobile after unlocking, but they can't. Only messaging and data works using a t-mobile SIM card. Verizon works fine. SO my question still remains, is there a way to make it work?
I used itekimei .com to have the phones unlocked, as I found they were suggested here on XDA. And they weren't really able to answer my question either. They said it should work with t-mobile, but the conversation ended with "t-mobile is having problems with unlocked phones." This is super frustrating trying to get an answer.
Edit: I found this forum https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s9-plus/help/sim-unlocking-sprint-samsung-galaxy-s9-t3783571 which debates whether it will work or not. Also this one specifically about Xfinity https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s9-plus/help/xfinity-mobile-unlock-service-t3796349. But mine didn't work. I don't think U.S. S9's are cross compatible from CDMA to GSM. I have been searching and searching and can't find a way.
Yes, the US unit hardware is cross compatible. Heck, Verizon itself isn't all CDMA. They are phasing out CDMA soon and most of their network is LTE.
I have a US unlocked S9+ and can use any carrier in the US. You could too, all you need to do is flash the US Unlocked firmware to the device using Odin.
Your problem may be the Xfinity firmware restricting certain bands is all. Or possibly the device isn't really unlocked.
