Hello!
For some reason I am having some major trouble when I'm trying to install UltimaAOSP v1.1.1 [Valhalla] on my i9300. I have been running UltimaRom v15 for a long time now, but it has been acting up lately (the photo sphere function in the camera crashes every time it's launched and the "system UI" crashes when i try to enable the GPS), so I decided to try out UltimaAOSP.
I have followed the install instructions exactly, wipe data/factory reset and unmount cache. I have tried with and without installing GApps.
PROBLEM: When i restart the phone I can barely get past the sim password screen before stuff starts crashing (contextprovider, phone and one more that i can't remember), and It just keeps crashing over and over so I can't really do anything. When It's left alone for 30 seconds or so it restarts the phone and everything starts crashing again.
"Extra" stuff i have tried:
- Wiping cache partition
- Clearing dalvik cache
- Moving the .zip-file to the internal sd card and external sd card
- Installing V1.1, got exactly the same error(s)
I am currently using CWM 6.0.4.6
Please help? This Is driving me nuts!

Try a full wipe format in mounts and storage format the following: format/system, format/cache, format /preload, format /data, warning this will leave you without any rom so make sure you have one ready to flash on your Ext SD.
Because you are not fully wiping it is leaving files behind which interferer with your new installation (short explanation)
Also I would recommend Philz recovery which does all this for you (it as a option to wipe to install a new rom) :good:

That fixed it, thank you!

These are the steps i followed:
- flashed XXLPH onto my phone
- flashed CF-Root
- took out my SD card
- put the two parts on my phones SD card
- performed data, cache, dalvik wipe for good measure
- installed part 1
- rebooted, phone did the "android is upgrading" stuff and loaded properly
- restarted into CWM right after phone booted up successfully
- installed part 2
- rebooted
I am noticing multiple issues that were said to be resolved/do not occur when flashed properly but I can't figure out what I did wrong. Could someone point me in the right direction/let me know how they did it?

Try this...this is what I did...
put both parts (1&2) on internal sd card...
reboot into recovery (via cwm)...
do full wipe (system, data, cache, davlick, etc)...
reboot into recovery...
install from internal sd card part 1...
reboot system and set up phone...
reboot into recovery (cwm)...
install from internal sd card part 2...
reboot system...
Hope this works...
Hi
Hopefully someone can help, as I am pulling my hair out :crying:
I have installed JB ROMS four times and updated Kernal to Phil however I still keep getting the same problems with my storage, not enough space etc for every ROM installed. I have updated the Kernal and performed factory reset, full wipe, format system, wipe cache, dalvik etc through recovery. However the phone still has the same user data each time, its like its not being deleted every time I install a new ROM. At the moment I can not sync gallery due to not enough space, download off line reading for the BBC, Guardian and the Current keeps crashing and other app thay requires data downloand.
The storage does not change no matter what and I can still see the same data files from the first install.
Is there an additional step I need to perform to completing wipe the phone internal ?
TIA

Have you tried to mount the partitions you want to wipe in CWM recovery before wiping?
Maybe that's the trick.
Just a guess.
Im on stock JB rom with philz kernel. Woke up today and got a notification saying my storage in full. The 2GB storage for apps only. I have not gone to play store to install stuff for some time alrdy and i am on this rom for 1mth alrdy. Cleared dalvik and cache partition as well. Havent try tried a format
Hello everyone,
I have been having major issues with my phone as of late and havent had the time to address them. Until I absolutely had to today.
Recently my phone has been intermittently force closing every open app (including sys apps) until a reboot stops the process.
Today my phone rebooted into a boot-loop and I have been trying to gain access to photos on my internal memory for most of the day.
I have access to CWM and download mode.
I have tried mounting the usb in CWM to no avail. "unable to open ums lunfile" error.
I have tried reflashing the current ROM I am using (AOKP)
I have tried accessing the files and transfering them to my microSD using Aroma file manager but it can't seem to access my internal storage.
Can anyone suggest a way to access the photos on my internal storage so I can back them up to either my computer or my microSD?
After that I am fine wiping it and starting all over.
Thanks!
When you do a full wipe, basically Wipe data/Factory Reset, Wipe Cache and Wipe Dalvik cache, only the rom will be deleted. Your internal (and external) memory won't be touched, so you won't loose your photo's, music or anything like that. Just flash a new rom after the wipe.
However, if you haven't backed up anything with Titanium Backup, you will loose your apps, but I think your files are more important than apps are

Thank you for the quick advice! I ended up trusting it and wiping from recovery. Photos stayed intact and I backed them up and proceeded to wipe.

Hey guys,
So my Skwiftkey was acting up so I decided to clear cache in "manage apps". Instead of hitting "clear cache" I hit "clear data".
Now my keyboard doesn't show up anymore, I get that annoying message and also my phone isn't reading my SD card anymore :/
Appreciate any help
(I have CM10.1 installed)
Because SwiftKey go to settings > language & input > default
And set SwiftKey again (maybe activate, too.
For all the other prob try a reboot first.
If same problem go to recovery and wipe dalvik cache and cache one.

The problem seems to be that the phone outright doesn't read the SD card at all, doesn't even pick it up (however it can on ClockworkRecovery).
So I can't even backup my stuff to an SD card before I wipe cache or data and do another install.
Any ideas guys?

No, wiping cache and wiping dalvik cache won't delete the data or apps (only factory reset or format * would do)
So u can try this.
If u r able to access sd card in recovery and u have the zip from rom there, u can reflash Rom once (without wipe)
Just try this things and only if nothing works and no other idea comes, do a factory reset (not earlier)

Tried wiping dalvik and cache. Tried installing from sd card. Still didn't work!
And I can't wipe data because I need to backup my contacts and messages but I can't do that because my phone can't read my SD card and literally every backup app requires that I have an SD card inserted :/
Any other ideas guys? I could re do everything but I would need a backup, and without a backup I'm stuck with a useless phone
Edit #1: Sorry, the question form didn't save the "This is a question post" tick after I previewed, I hope that doesn't mess up things.
Edit #2: I should also point out that I backed up everything previously, so I don't care about saving any data on the phone, I just want it working again...
Edit #3: I keep forgetting some small details, the phone wouldn't boot even when removing the SD card.
Hello,
Two days ago I decided to try the SD Link feature from Link2SD on my Galaxy S2, because I was tired of running low on internal storage space when I had a 32gb SD card just for photos.
I was only linking games and other apps that were not important to the phone's normal functionality, but on 3 our 4 occasions Link2SD would hang on the linking process and I'd wait 10 minutes before force quitting the app each time. This wasn't causing any problems, until the last hang. I restarted the app and saw that it couldn't compute any of the other apps internal size. So I rebooted the phone and got stuck on a boot crash.
Sometimes the boot would go beyond the Samsung logo and into the Cyanogenmod loading, but the phone would shutdown before leaving that screen.
I had CWM on my phone, so I tried a bunch of stuff:
to wipe data/factory reset
wipe dalvik cache
wipe cache
reinstall Cyanogenmod from a zip (either from internal, sdcard0, sdcard1, and even Odin)
After so many attempts, my searches started pointing me to the fact that some system files could be bad, so I tried:
format /system
format /data
I didn't format /boot but it's reaching the point that it's the only thing I haven't tried.
So next I used Odin to flash back to stock ROM, and in the process lost CWM.
Since that didn't work, I flashed a stock Kernel too.
I should point out that the phone was working perfectly before this Link2SD mess, and also that each time I flashed with Odin, I would get a glimpse of the app optimization process, that would reach around 39 of 42 apps before the phone would shutdown.
I'm running out of ideas and search keywords.
Please help.
Thank you for your time.
