Hello S2 Lovers,
After I saw a thread in Galaxy S2 General about the possibility of porting 4.4.2 Samsung original Rom . The S3 developers have done it successfully. So I downloaded a N2 ROM and using a little guide, I managed to zip a Samsung based custom ROM.
All right , so now is the next big thing. I don't have tine this two days so.. I will post a link to the ROM and everyone who wants to try, feel free. I don't know if it boots but I assure you it will after some updates. So happy flashing and tell me if it boots or not. If it boots tell me how it is
I AM NOT RESPONSABLE FOR ANY BRICKED DEVICES
Best method for installation(DO BACKUP!!!!!!!!!BACKUP!!!!)
1. As it is a 4.4.2 ROM you will need to flash it through latest CWM OR TWRP(recommended because it gives log)
2. Full wipe and format system
3. Flash the ROM
Look at for if it gives an error
4. If it gets an error go to advanced and get a log.
IT IS A WIP... RIGHT NOW IT WON'T BOOT.. YOU WILL SEE A BLACK SCREEN OR YOU WILL GET AN ERROR(MY VERSION)
JUST PATIENTLY WAIT FOR THE BOOTABLE VERSION . DON'T ASK FOR ETA.

Interesting Project
Good day my friend! As I was checking the development threads in the i9100 forums, I saw a new post which indicates a port of official KitKat firmware from the GT-N7100. I see you uploaded an untested build, but I am downloading it anyway, but may I ask you something my friend, is it possible that you "debloat" the firmware? The GT-I9100 has an approximately 500 MB system partition (exactly 495.xx) so I'm not sure whether the installation would work or not. The users back at the I9300 forum (at least the one who made a poof-of-concept port) had to partition his device to get more /system space partition, we don't recommend that anywhere since it is a 200% way to potentially brick a device (who knows what error might occur), so removing Samsung's proprietary apps (i.e. bloatware) is the first step to get this working right. Additionally, a 790 MB firmware (due to slow connection including where I live) needs a good hosting site (Devhost, Mediafire... etc). I'm not sure users from SlimSaber, CyanFox, CyanogenMod, AOSB, Beanstalk or other KitKat ROM threads would give this a shot knowing that it is untested (I don't know what kernel it is using too), but I'll just do the honor even it was on the cost of damaging something in the phone. Good luck my friend, and please don't take my word as an offense since this is, in no doubt, one hell of a groundbreaking project (at least for TouchWiz users like me), and I am willing to lend you a hand if you need it.
woow, this is kitkat TW?
Thanks man i'll try it as soon as it'll finish downloading
also i ported 4.2.2 from s2 plus ! but i need to add symlinking to it cuz it's 700mb+ and in our system partition we only have 500 mb !
so it needs more work well right now i'm busy so i stopped :silly:

rom is too big ! need to symlink !
you are just obsessed with making new threads arent you?

OK, so I started debloating... The problem is that all the files in the firmware are like 940mb so I need to find a way to make it thiner. I need someone to help with it
.. Another thing is to flash the ROM from CWM KitKat Compatible

The only low-mid ranger that runs 4.4.2 out of the box is the GALAXY ACE STYLE. I believe it's not released yet but firmwares are already live at SamMobile Firmware Page. Search SM-G310. Sad news is that it is using Broadcom Chipset, not Exynos.
I dont understand,is this rom 4.4.2 from s4 ported to s2? If yes is it possible to make everything work without drivers for kitkat?I hope it is.

For booting a kernel you need to take stock kernel, diff changes done in 4.3 -> 4.4.2 in Note2, and apply them on your ramdisk.
Don't forget that you need original cbd binary and modules from stock kernel.
Then you need some stock blobs to make things work.
gpsd
gps.default.so
sensors.smdk4x12.so
libakm.so
libsgcc.so
libfactoryutil.so
libomission_avoidance.so
I highly suggest taking a look at my github, because I created a repo when ROM wasn't even booting, and then made it work.

hi im currently in process of porting a stock deodexed rom.
i have changed system files and the update script.for out i9305. at moment i am able to install the rom fine and loads up with or without wipe. i also included the ee modem.
my issue is that when the rom starts all is ok and there are no force closes however i get no network and imei shows null. to resolve this i just flash param.tar in odin and stock file and all is back to original with imei restored.
any ideas on whats causing the loss of imei number
in setting imei and baseband showbas unknown
edit whilst restoring to stock i did not have to restore imei backups so am asuming efs part is fine

Try merging our system and framework so it picks it up as our xxali5 or xxali9 you have to get rid of there base and put our base instead but leave the edited files so maybe the system apps folder stays the i9300 as the apps are the same i think but change the rest into our firmware hmmmm so maybe a better idea would be to have a blank deodexed and zipaligned xxali5 rom move and overwrite our files with the edited files of the i9300 that way all our efs and imei doesnt get touched

Basically there are some intensely different changes within the services.jar, framework.jar, android-policy.jar and so forth. 4G LTE is sooo much different than the stock i9300. I am not saying it CAN'T be done. But I am saying it is going to be a complete bastard to do. Put it this way, you'd be better off looking into all of the modifications that have been done to create these ROMS and re-doing them to the i9305.
Trust me, I have looked into doing this with a "customised" build to from sources for ICS for the P7320T tablet that I had. It is the only 4G tablet released here in Australia. The closest I could find in sources for being able to make the connection was grabbing settings systemUI and the others I have listed above ^^^ from the S2 4G LTE. Then I was going to have to modify the systemUI specifically for tablet mode.
I no longer have the tablet nor the patience to want to take on anything like it again.
All I can say is good luck. Feel free to check my threads to confirm that my choices are not a conflict of motivation or lack of determination...god I can assure you that much
Just for a tip. I started today with decompiling the android-policy.jar file to see if I could enable the torch app double click home from lock screen feature....this has been done on i9300 right? Go take a look at the full guide on how to do it...go decompile 1 file that I am talking about and you will see just how different the methods are in all of the smali code. JOY!

What tools are you using to "port" this ROM to our device?
I have tools that can port ROMs in about 30-40min.
What have you got in the build.prop for this thing? Do you want to upload the ROM for me to take a look at? The least I could do is offer some help before raining on your parade lol.
Have you considered doing maybe a "splice" of the ROM. Rather than porting the full version, you could do a diff/compare of the modded ROM against it's stock counterpart. Then you migrate those changes over to your "stock i9305" base. That is going to be your best chance of doing this I reckon? also you won't be able to copy across the firmware version. That won't work. Your framework and the firmware version are going to be device specific.
The absolute best thing I can think of suggesting is to go with a known base equivilant?? Like it seems that there is a release of XXALI5 (for touchwiz at least?) on both devices. That would be where I would start first and foremost. I would port with that common version using what I described above and then migrating any further or additional functionality (developer made i.e. Wanams mods) that have been done since the XXALI5 release.
That is going to be your best bet.
Or you guys could just wait for me to release my ROM haha...subtle promotion? I think not.

Exactly
I have a methodology that does this very easy. I wanted the OP to upload his work so far to save me a download. But I might just go ahead and do it anyway.
Have you guys got permissions from Wanam to use his work? I will ask on your behalf if not. He is a great contributor to this forum, I don't wish to have him offside.
What I mean is that I will go ahead and play, but I won't re-upload any test files to the forum without his consent This shouldn't be too hard
---------- Post added at 12:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:53 AM ----------
Contacted Wanam. I will wait to see what he says and recommends. I have claimed I am not releasing anything of his, so this can be owned by you guys who want it. I am happy to help get the ball rolling to help yous though. I have my own dev team that I work with so that makes me kinda busy. That is why I haven't released my own ROM on here yet lol
Downloaded XXLAI5 Wanam, Downloaded XXLAI5 stock i9300, have already downloaded XXLAI5 stock i9305 and I am currently deodexeding it as we speak.
Will deodex i9300 XXALI5 next and then do a comparison to Wanams. Segregate changed files - > port to stock deodexed base = Wanam i9305 for you guys
That's if Wanam approves of course?
EDIT: Hey Mr OP can you please contact me? I cannot send you PMs? Holy smokes you've been around this place since 09!
Ok Analysis done on Wanam compared to stock XXALI5 and have all the of the files seperated and within their directory structure that had changes.
There is going to be some work needed to be done on these main files:
/system/framework/android.policy.jar
/system/framework/framework2.jar
/system/framework/services.jar
/system/app/systemUI.apk
As I expected
Now the fun n games start I will decompile all of these files and then diff them against the standard i9300 smali coding and then *attempt* (and I say that with all great intension too) to migrate the changes across into decompiled i9305 files.
I can tell this is going to be a head ache!
Otherwise though....I can honestly say that what I have got so far I know for certain will boot and you will not have baseband issues. You won't however have 15 toggle mod as it stands. Services.jar and Android policy.jar both control this feature. I see that this *IS* available as a mod already on this forum but I am not certain that the creators realise that these modifications (mentioned here) actually do need to be performed.
Lidroid-res.apk within framework will have no rights to control the toggle on the systemUI cause it won't have permissions due to conflicting signature checking. note...toggles may appear, but they won't do anything when you touch the widget toggle, it will be non-responsive.
Thanks guys
Thats what i said we should just try copying over the whole system app folder and replacing it with our deodexed rom. Try doing that as the firstt step

System app is fine, but that isn't where the changes are that make Wanams ROM. You'd have your self a standard ROM otherwise. As in no difference. Or if you just copied the system/app folder ROM would boot but systemUI would force close. You would also have no reboot menu and no USB read from the phone. That would equal disasterous....cause as we all know we don't have SD mount in recovery do we?
Fancy doing an adb push on a phone that doesn't install USB connection files?
See I wouldn't be stupid enough to do that without having at least a clockwork recovery backup lol.
It's ok. for the android.policy.jar they are identical (well for XXALI5 they are anyway) to the i9300. So simple trade in there.
Only 4 more files to go and I will have you guys a port
Wanam still has not contacted me back yet though so I we need approval before anything.
Reset scrolling caches. In framework2.jar
This took a bit of work because my notepad++ kept crashing running compare. If you guys ever have this issue, right click the executable in program files go to properties and compatibility and then check the boxes for:
- disable visual themes
- disable desktop composition
- disable high dpi scaling.
Apply.
No more crashing. Windows 7 aero apparently doesn't like the compare dll?
Anyway not related. I am back on track. last jar file and then it should be ready to package up and it will be the same as Wanam ROM XXALI5
Got approval from Wanam. Just about to test flash now. Will upload it here if everything works out
Well, I had a few mishaps with my own device. Namely no root access and also lost hardware ID...meaning no Android Market. This all happened sometime during my lengthy list of modifications so I was not sure where. That mean flash back to stock and restore my data bit by bit until I was set up again. This take for EVER!
So yeah no real feedback from anyone in here so have decided to finish off my own ROM instead. XXALI9 (newer) and a heap more mods than stock Wanam. So far so good.
I can upload what work I did on getting Wanam's up and running (I have not flashed it yet) but will wait till someone actually wants before I go ahead and do that.
Thanks guys
James
Hello N7105 owners,
DISCLAIMER:
By reading this post, downloading any of the links, or acting on it in anyway you accept full responsibility for the outcome. I strongly suggest you do not download this ROM but that's just my opinion.
What this is:
This is EE's (UK operator)(formally Orange & T-Mobile) stock ROM for the GT-N7105 or Galaxy Note 2 LTE International - N7105XXXALIJ
Stock Kernel
Rooted
Busybox
Fully deodexed
Zip aligned
Some bloatware removed. (Light version)
What you would need:
Custom recovery (CWM) <-- See other threads for the how-to I might post a link later.
What you would do:
Download .zip
While waiting... it's big (sorry) ... do a nandroid <-- Google it.
Put .zip onto external SD Card (internal would be fine too but I think if you full wiped it'd get deleted and your panties would twist)
Flash .zip
Wait... remember it's big (sorry)
Wipe Cache
Wipe Dalvik Cache
Reboot
Enjoy
What else you would want to do:
Flash a different Kernel - there's only one floating around for now.
Use a storage data swap - two options
Use performance scripts, see around there are lots and they'll work best with a different kernel with init.d support - there is a thread with an how-to for getting support with any kernel/ROM and I tried it but failed. I didn't try hard.
Wipe Data - this shouldn't be necessary as your phone will already be on a stock ROM.
What I would like you to do:
Make themes and I'll link them in post 2
Tell me what default apps you want back or what taken away.
Post links to other stock ROMs you'd like made more convenient (that's all this is btw because it's no different than rooting etc yourself after the fact).
Talk about N7105 development - we all want proper Dev support and built from source roms.
What I don't want you to do:
Expect anything from me.
Flash this thinking it's something special, or that I'm a dev, or think that this is counts as actual development.

Tbh until there's been some discussion about what should be in and what should be out the light version is not recommended. There's literally too many apps and too many Samsung goodies to know whats right to remove.
The once we agree on the best minimum apps for a base, I'll just use that for updates and the other apps can come in a range flashable packages.
For now the recommended way to debloat is just use titanium backup.

Those few who have downloaded the Light version, how is it? Did it boot? I remove anything that needs putting back in? Is there anything still there you would consider bloat?
Is the bloated version deodexed, zip aligned etc?
Yes. The only difference is a number of system apps are removed in the light version.

Should have ALJ4 uploaded tomorrow.
Edit:
Dang the re branding broke s note. Can't fix until tomorrow. Probably just need to push a different s note app (has someone optimised that awful app yet?)
It's uploading anyway if it doesn't fail I'll post link but flashing it without at least removing the s note app will result in infinite FCs. It's otherwise untested.

Hello Everyone. I'm NickDollahZ. I am new to the development scene. Just got my N5100 yesterday. I saw that we have yet to get a 4.2.2 flashable rom. So I started messing around with Dsixda's Android Kitchen and here is the product of my labor.
Try not to be too rough on me as it is my first time.
This rom is the new German Stock 4.2.2 N5100XXCMK1 rom.
What it does:
Flashes the ROM, Modem and Kernel from the new 4.2.2 German rom.
What modifications did I make:
~ deodexed
~ rooted
~ busybox installed
~ zipaligned
~ /data/app functionality
~ /etc/init.d scripts support
Give it a try! Going to be using this as a base for a custom rom if all goes well. So feel free to send me your ideas.
Cheers :highfive:
Make sure you wipe first.

Thanks for your work!
Can you give us some tutorial how to flash this to my Note 8.0.
I have stock Note 8.0 without any modification and don't know how to start to flash this ROM.
There are no such topic in this forum.
Can't you help us (newbie)?
This rom is designed for those who have already flashed a recovery on their Galaxy note 8.0 and want to update to the latest version.
With that said, I can still point you in the right direction.
You should use this tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2251033 to get started.
It should guide you through the process of getting the right drivers and flashing CWM on your device.
Once you have CWM then you can copy this rom onto your internal storage and flash it from there.
Alternatively you can use ODIN to install root, CWM or flash this rom using the official .tar.md5 released by Samsung.
CWM -> ClockworkMod a custom recovery
ODIN -> a tool used to flash your phone when in Download Mode (Holding down power+volume down+home key)
It sounds complicated but the process is actually pretty easy once you understand everything. The thread I linked earlier has a video that walks you through the process. Once that is done all you need to do is update to 4.2.2. if you like.

Unfortunately not. Still looking for good hosting. I'll see what I can come up with today.
Thank you so much. We users of the 5100 really needed this. I'll try downloading tomorrow and report my findings as well.

Thanks for the ROM. Good job. It works very well. Keep going.
BTW. First dl link is fast enough (2.3 MBs) for me.
Thanks again.

We need An debloat script Its just insane!
Thanks for feedback. I guess filefactory link is not as useful. I'm gonna see if I can get some reliable hosting because filehosting sites are hit and miss especially on an international device.
I plan to make a custom rom soon. I just wanted to get a good base without any apk modifications 1st.
Everything goes ok, but... S Note crashes as it starts. There is no way (with my attempts) to solve this.
Obviously flashed and wiped data-cache-everything!
Any other with this problem?
Okay looks like I fixed the issue. Also was just granted Developer status over at androidfilehost.com. So will be uploading my roms over there from now on.
Expect a new build and a new host in the next 24 hrs.
New Build up! SNote seems to be working for me again. Let me know your results. Don't forget to wipe!

Touchwiz 4.3
This is Stock WITHOUT any added Note3 features
Download Link
R.A.H.TW_4.3_11-27-13-1908.zip - 1.09 GB
First Boot can take a while be patient.
Known TWRP issue ( and possible CWM ) attempting to preform a restore of TW4.3 may cause bootloop
Bugs
WiFi bug (see wifi patch section)
Signal bar does not show accurate signal (if any)
Possible root lost on first boot (see Root section)
WIFI PATCH FIX
Here's how to get Wifi working. Do this after installing the ROM. Thanks to seanzscreams for the fix and stvn1337 for posting the info. What this fix does is adds the paramaters needed for Wifi to work on TouchWiz 4.3 based ROMs while still allowing us to flash to other ROMs outside of the TouchWiz 4.3 stuff. Be forwarded that these steps do need to be followed pretty much dot on especially when it comes to apply the patch. Deviating on that part might cause some major issues including bricking your device. I will not be held liable if that were to happen or will XDA. You've been pretty well warned. Don't worry this is a pretty easy patch to apply so don't worry too much about it. Smile, eat a Kit Kat, and just do what I tell you. In no time you'll have working Wifi on this ROM.
FILES
4.3param_tz.zip - 690.83 KB
INSTRUCTONS
1 - Download Odin3 and the WiFi Fix files.
2 - Extract Odin3 and the WiFi Fix files. For the WiFi fix you just need to extract 4.3param_tz.zip so the 4.3param_tz.tar file is ready for us with Odin3.
3 - Download and install Samsung drivers if you don't have them already.
4 - Turn off Note 2. After turned off press Volume Down + Home Button + Power to boot into the bootloader.
5 - Plug Note 2 into PC with Odin3 running.
6 - Once your PC has detected and installed drivers your Note 2 should show up in Odin3.
7 - Load the Wifi fix file (should be named 4.3param_tz.tar) into the PDA option in Odin3.
8 - Hit the Start button. It'll only take seconds for the file to do its magic then your Note 2 will reboot into recovery.
9 - Reboot out of recovery.
10 - ????
11 - Wifi should work now!
12 - ????????
13 - PROFIT!

Please tell me where I said im not working on it? You know cause the port was done all by itself...
I mean no disrespect but its comments like yours why less and less people release crap, why not just get it working for myself and thats it... why do other people need to use devs hard work and not give a hoot. Then make threads about where did all the TW devs go? I havent seen what I deem as enough updates or some other ungrateful soundsing posts
Gentleman please stay OT and inline. No disrespect allowed.
Thank you for your cooperation.

@runandhide05 I am in the same boat as you I have everything working except data/signal.. I have ported from n7100 before but the process seems to be different in this case..4.3. I am still trying to get it corrected with different methods. Can you tell me what you have done so far so we can compare? I started with stock base 4.3 N7100.. Added our csc files, build.prop edits for cdma and a couple lib files and our modem. When I boot it boots fine.. In mobile networks I have option to select cdma/lte but still no signal.. We our missing something that i cant seem to find. Some files that we usually port over have been changed or are non existant in 4.3... and btw what kernel are you using I think this maybe the source of our problem..I can only seem to flash it and get it to boot with the 4.3 stock kernel and I am not skilled or have enough knowledge to know whether kernels have anything to do with lte capabilities.. I would assume so.. And if thats the case we will have to wait for the n7105 leak to get kernel source..

Its looking like we will need to wait for a n7105 for the lte.
Using stock kernel. All others fail to boot.

Hello,
I will try porting the rom using another base but I don't have enough time as I've got exams coming up and I have to study for them.I may start working on the update in mid October.
I have fixed the symlinking problwm but the rom is still not bootable, what do you think is more stable and has less bugs cm10 or cm10.1, if cm10.1's the answer I may try porting the s2 plus 4.2.2 rom and it is probable that it may be bootable or at least get to the bootanimation.
Thanks
UPDATE:I tried porting other roms on different android versions
4.1.2:s2 i9100: different build:still got the symlinking error for some reason after various attempts
4.2.2:s2 plus i9105: got a set_perm error, took a look at the log says that some files are not present even though they are
4.4.4:s3 i9305 version:apparantly I'm getting an error that it can't partition a non mk... device
I'm not giving up, I'm still going to try other bases to see if I can't get one to install and boot successfully.

It seems that this project isn't making any progress, so I may try making my touchwiz fusion rom for the player(obviously there would be improvements) that is if any user would like it to happen.
Here's a link to the rom,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...atives/rom-touchwiz-resurrection-rom-t2491822
the build for the galaxy player would probably have a better themed system ui,recent apps and framework
The s5 recent apps is complete, I tried adding tw recent app buttons, the buttons worked but the clear all button was higher than the others for some weird reason, I tried changing the height but that didn't work, I can leave the task manager button or the clear all one if anyone wants,I have attached a photo below showing the recent apps panel and the case the buttons are in, so if you want the task manager button or clear all button then tell me which one you want to keep or if you don't want anyone, button background will be changed to the s5 one later(that is if anyone wants it).
Photo is from my s2 but will be the same on the player

No, it's actually a cm11 rom modded to look like touchwiz in the galaxy s2,since I made the rom for the s2, I can apply the same mods to the system apks for the most stable kitkat 4.4 build I can find.So it'll be like the s2 version of the rom but with some improvements.

No don't download the rom, it is developed specifically for the galaxy s2, I'll make a version for the player 5.0 soon, but I said that it's easier to make this rom for the player 5.0 than porting a touchwiz rom.
