Use the guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p780/development/lenovo-p780-guide-t2658144
If you decide to flash the phone, be careful. The rule is, if it's not broke, don't try to fix it
However, in case you still decide to go for it :
Watch out when you're using SP Flash on a recent model, it might (almost) brick your phone.
In addition to the thread mentioned above, also read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p780/help/p780-bricked-flashing-wrong-rom-doesnt-t2749683
This phone is quite nice, and flashing different ROMs is easy if you know what you're doing. Please read as much info on this forum from other users first if you're not experienced in doing these things.
One point of attention is the modem in the phone. It's a bit problematic. Flashing a new rom might knock out your second sim card or give you bad reception.
Please refer to http://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p780/help/test-radios-4-row-t2761568 for tips.
thanks guys thats great, i have managed to put English cmw im just looking to be able to flash a new rom on it through cmw as all my computers run ubuntu or other linux.
any links would be great, thanks

Hi. You need to do this:
1. go to Contacts - press menu button - fum menu press more features and settings - go to more contacts and feature - merge duplicate contacts.
2. After that you must do one thing that is hard iff you have to many contacts: edit contacts and put your country prefix in front of all contacts.
Tell me if this helped you.
Hi, thanks for reply. I had an update and its sorted it thanks.
Still want to know how to flash rom from recovery (without pc) cheers
Sent from my Lenovo P780 using XDA Free mobile app
I hear you, also on Ubuntu, and although the latest version of SP Flash is supposed to work on Linux, didn't figure out how that would work, I guess it's command line messing.
So I got a Windows PC from somebody, sorry but that's the easiest way.
Unfortunately, P780 (and all MTK devices), are easy to flash so everyone is using that method.
Installing from recovery is not that popular, but there are exceptions.
Most of the time, you start out from a stock version, which you have now and backup, backup, backup that one. You'll probably need it if you want to install another ROM.
As far as I have learnt, there are a couple of ROMs you can install given that you have a stock ROM already running.
Either you stay on this forum, and you can try Life or Vibe, or you go to www.needrom.com/phone-roms/lenovo/serial-p/p780/ . Most ROMs there are recovery installable, and so suitable for your situation. So far, had no problems using ROW base with one of these.
vibeui.com (in Chinese, but apparently the 'official' Lenovo daughter site), offers Vibe 1.0 and 1.5 as recovery installable.
I've installed and played around with SLX, Vibe 1.0 and Vibe 1.5 (KitKat), all installable from recovery.
Although I tried to stay with Vibe 1.5 (because KitKat), I reverted back, mainly because:
- signal was worse than other ROMs
- I have a magnetic case working fine on stock but not at all on Vibe 1.5
- Battery drain problems, especially because of location services
- Location services not working for applications
- All in all, just a bit too buggy
SLX was the most pure Android I installed, but I missed the Lenovo specific additions.
In all honesty, I like the stock ROM after all, the Lenovo apps ans launcher, and settings are actually pretty good. I in fact like the Chinese stock rom more than the ROW (more settings, security app has more options,...), but a lot of stuff is Chinese, so no
One tip : on a stock version, install Xposed and the Gravitybox module, it's almost as good as installing another ROM. So much tweaking and modding, that I can customize whatever I want.

Do you know of any other worthwhile rom to try out, or are these three all that's available?

thanks for sharing, gonna try the TempestU39GT
There's also 1.05 multiwindow rom that some say is better than stock 1.04, download is here :
rom
Do not buy the Cube U39GT-3G version of this tablet, I ordered one from http://www.cube-tablet.com and it came with a wrong IMEI number. I cannot use any SIM data card because of this with this tablet.
I bought the Wifi version, so I am not in danger. Thanks for the warning though, it certainly speaks of extremely crappy QA.
racht: anytime, and thank you for the link to 1.5.
It seems like another rom might be on the works:
http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.php?8204-Are-there-any-worthwhile-roms-for-the-Cube-U39GT
Apparently it will be based on stock 1.04 instead of 1.05, but if it comes to completion it might be worth it to try it out.

ROM has been uploaded yesterday but the dev doesn't own a U39GT. So anyone willing to test can do it now
I can't believe that slipped by me. Thanks for the heads-up. :good:
http://www.arctablet.com/blog/forum...2-custom-root-firmware-version-1-06-20131123/
This looks promising as well with 1.06 Cube firmware update and AOSP launcher.
New original Cube firmware 1.06 is downloadabl from official cube site.
http://www.51cube.com/ch/DownShow.asp?ID=205
I can recommend Google for translating the chinese, you can download the ROM from baidu which could take a few hours.
Awesome, thanks for the heads-up.
They require registration to access the downloads? Dammit, I refuse to create an account just to go and download something. Do you have an account there, locutus2000? If so, would you be willing to mirror it somewhere?
I was able to fix the IMEI issue, so it is safe to buy, again. The support from the vendor was not helpful, the wrong IMEI number is not only wrong for me but for all of the sold models. They all have 111111111111111 as IMEI number, no big deal with the MTK Droid Tools I was able to load a new IMEI, that was generated from an internet site. It works with the SIM cards now.
Important to know: the Cube 9 Talk with the 3G SIM card uses MediaTek MTK8389T CPU whereas the Cube 9 without the SIM card 3G feature uses a RockChip RK3188 CPU. The ROMs are not interchangeable.
So whatever issues you may have, it may be a completely different story for the person that owns the other chipset. Strange enough that Cube built two similar products with completely different hardware.
The Cube U39GT 3G ROM Version 1.03 for the 3G version can be found here:
http://www.51cube.com/ch/DownShow.asp?ID=206
If you have donwloaded and unpacked the firmware, you may end up with chinese folder names. Flash tool did not accept the scatter file when I tried to select it using these folder names.
To resolve this: Simply create a new folder name and copy/paste the ROM of the Cube to the new folder, the update should then work with the Flashtool. I have used Version 3.1328.0.183. The update takes a while so be patient. Worked with mine.

Thank you for important info, I have 3G version too. And how did you succeed root, can you give me any advice?
Starting this thread to answer a very simple question.
I find some answers scattered through responses in a lot of other threads, but all the information is too spread out to be useful, so I'm trying to get all that info in a single thread.
Most of us will get their P780 through a Chinese website. Most of them will have an English interface probably, but are still the Chinese models.
The main difference is explained elsewhere, so not going into that. Just wondering, I'm living in Europe, but temporarily in Australia.
I have an Australian SIM1, and my European SIM2. Works just fine. Full reception on SIM2 all the time, SIM1 is kind of unstable, going from full reception to almost nothing and back when on 3G. But apart from that, fast data transfer.
In most countries, 3G on 900Mhz is not that popular anyways.
So, is there any reason to flash an ROW rom to a Chinese phone ?
- 3G 900Mhz band not available on Chinese models : does the ROW change that ? Or can you change it by flashing a different modem image or can't you enable 3G 900Mhz at all on them?
- custom ROM support : but so far I haven't seen a ROM interesting enough to do this. Most of us will want the latest android version, which is only VIBE 1.5 on Chinese ones anyways at this moment. SLX and Life look ok, but I don't see much difference with the VIBE roms (UI wise).
- English interface : you can switch the Chinese models to English without too many issues (some text still in Chinese, but not too annoying)
Do Chinese and ROW models have the same hardware, or are there differences ?
On Russian forums, people try to flash ROW to open up the 3G 900Mhz band, but so far, I couldn't find conclusive information that this actually works.
Taking it even further, is there any reason to go for a ROW(usually more expensive) model instead of a Chinese model ?
And perhaps the most important question of all : can you actually flash a ROW ROM on a Chinese model ?
Most answers I find elsewhere say it should work. But my phone gets stuck and won't even start when I do so. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong, perhaps because it's just not possible.
Update : In recent other posts, users successfully flashed a ROW on a Chinese model, so I'm assuming that is possible.
I invite you all to provide some answers or feedback, because when I was looking into buying this phone, that was my most important question

I have ROW Phone bough and i commandet P780 Chinese version witch is more cheap then my row bought in my country. Half a price. I will not pay shipment because someone i know will bring it from there. I barrely wait to compare and i will tell you all about it.
So some follow up on my testing:
Remember : I'm working on a P780 4Gb Chinese with production date 15/03/14
This means I have to use a different preloader file than the ones included in all roms (at this moment). I that is not done, the phone will not boot (see my other thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p780/help/p780-bricked-flashing-wrong-rom-doesnt-t2749683).
I succesfully installed following ROMS :
- P780_S135_130917_rooted_twrp_gapps : standard Chinese rom, works well, some chinese, but does the job
- VIBEUI_V1.5_1419_5_DEV_P780_rooted_twrp_gapps : KitKat rom, worked very nice but had a huge problem with battery drain. Location services would hang an eat up to 15%/hour. Tried many things, and in the end, I got it more or less stable, but no location services (Google Now, Maps, weather,...). Too many problems with battery performance, so uninstalled
- P780_ROW_S124_140403_rooted_twrp_gapps + SLXROM_v24a-Lenovo_P780 : this combo gave me the purest Android system so far. Good old Android menus and behavior, good battery life, good everything. However, I had a major problem : every reboot, I would get a problem with SIM1 or SIM2 that did not come up. No problem, I could flash a modem like V52 Modem_S920 and the problem would be gone when the phone started up again...only to return on a next reboot. I liked the rom a lot, but that was just not workable.
- P780_ROW_S124_140403_rooted_twrp_gapps : The ROW stock rom, and I must say, I'm liking it. Works well, good battery, and in all honesty I kind of like the Lenovo shell. Nice launcher, nice behavior. I installed XPosed and GravityBox to update some things I didn't like without problems. Oh and the biggest surprise of all : in my SIM1, I see that WCDMA-GSM-900, aka 3G 900Mhz, is enabled, but I'm in a 2100Mhz only area, so I don't know if this is just there but not actually working... Furthermore, I liked the Power and security app from the VIBE 1.5 ROM, so I opened the img file, and extracted the apks, and installed them on this ROM, and it actually works nice without issues.
So for now, the last rom (ROW), gives me a non-Chinese, nice rom that has the 900MHz band enabled (will try to test soon).

Thanks alot for sharing this information with us. Now: can you tell us what are the 2 app original names in system.img?
Found them in the priv-app folder, not app folder (somewhere in system.img, forgot where exactly ?): LenovoPower.apk and LenovoSafeCenter.apk
Lots of other interesting stuff in that folder I must say ?
The power app in vibe 1.5 shows me more accurate timings and has a useful interface to see processes that consume power, especially the keep awake, aka wakelocks, and I like the privacy settings on the security app.but this one seems to crash sometimes because of conflict with the security app of current rom,but still...

Please do backup via spflash tool, i found somewhere on xda, spflash tool can pull a backup file from your rom what you using now. So if something happens you wouldn't worry. You have exactly right rom that always running on your phone.
Do research, 1st of all try flash all file and if ended with bootloop, you can try flash again and avoid to flash BL, preloader, sometimes nvram file.
If you have the right backup file, mediatek is nearly unbrickable, even imei can be write permanently without open your mainboard.

Great tutorial on the, well mainly SPFT, thanks!
Problem I had with CWM (and apparently you have to have the right version for Chinese or ROW), is that although it did boot into recovery, I'd get random errors about /system or /data or whatever else could not mount. It would give errors when trying to take a backup, and it just didn't feel reliable.
TWRP on the other hand, works great, no issues (although it says that it needs to fix root permission whenever I exit it, but no problems).
After my experience with a wrong flash, I do believe the MT devices are almost unbrickable, as long as you have the right combination of files to flash onto it.
After trying like 7 ROMS, I decided to stick with the ROW stock on my Chinese model. Great battery, stable, the storage division is a bit small, I'm running out of internal storage although I have plenty left in built-in storage, but my apps don't want to install there, neither can I move them.
Most important indeed is : BACKUP first
Update on my current P780_ROW_S124_140403_rooted_twrp_gapps ROM :
Although it shows 900Mhz band active, the 3G connection was pretty unstable. It works well for 1 second, then goes to nothing, then back to working well.
So I decided to flash the V52 Modem_S920.
Downside : no 900Mhz (but is it still used in a lot of countries ?)
Upside : 3G connection a lot better and stable. Browsing the internet is fast.
Where I would see a download speed of 25Kb/s to 500b/s to 200b/s it now stays well above 10Kb/s, with speeds well above that most of the time(up to 250Kb/s)
Current test done in Jakarta (with local SIM). Will test again in other countries.
Hello XDA Community,
long time not see..., anyway, i just learned how to root, customized my phone with PussyFap2.5 (Custom Rom) to look like the Android Lollipop 5.0.1 Update. And there one little problem starts to begin. I have the exact same phone, you can call it Mircomax A104 or just Canvas Fire 2. My Android Version was 4.4.2 since i got the Phone. The only problem was, that it had NEVER any Android Update. So i just googled a little bid and found this Custom ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/rom-*****-fap-v2-5-fire-2-t3104349).
My Questions
1. When i go to Setting --> Android Version it say's "5.0.1" and on Model Number "Android One", so my question is, is my Version now still the same (4.4.2) or is it really 5.0.1, cause I don't think so (just a Custom ROM). About the Model Number we dont need to talk  it's still the one and only A104.
2. On the Original ROM, so when i got the phone fresh out of the package, Vanilla Android 4.4.2. It had on Settings --> Keyboard and Input --> an Application where there was 20 Indian Languages. But ufortunately I dont know it's name or anything about it. I want only this App and no other like Swiftkey, or a cheap App on the PlayStore, because this Keyboard was so good.
3. I found a lilttle "HINT" on question 3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5g9WihZf0Y This guy uses this Keyboard, whats it's name please?
Sincerely
Los Kirat
Use Xperia keyboard its simple and easy to use and also has various features in it
Well hello XDA community members and enthusiastic developers.
Well I flashed the ***** FAP ROM v2.5 for Micromax A104 and there are some problems.
1.the touch interface is working opposite. I.e if you touch on the down right then the notification bar pops out.
Any fix for this issue

Hi guys! I've just cooked my first custom ROM for my Estar Takee 1 (octacore chinese smartphone with mediatek mt6592 CPU 2ghz)
I used dsixda kitchen on Linux and a stock JellyBean ROM as base.
I tryed to flash the .zip file from my custom recovery (TWRP) but I have this error
Code:
error executing updater binary in zip
What could be the problem ?
Another developer used the same stock ROM as base to make his own custom ROM (I'm using that one and it works!)
Maybe I have to use another kitchen?

Somewhere on Xda i read that people solved this problem replacing the "updater binary" file inside the custom rom from another one taken from the stock rom...
I tryed to replace my updater binary with the one contained in a custom rom that works on my device but I can't still flash the zip!!
The new updater binary also shows this warning:
Code:
format() expects 5 args, got 2
Have you figured out the solution for this problem already? I am very interested in your work!

Hi guys! I just cooked my first custom ROM for my Estar Takee 1 (octacore chinese smartphone with mediatek mt6592 CPU 2ghz)
I used dsixda kitchen on Linux and a stock JellyBean ROM as base.
I tryed to flash the .zip file from my custom recovery (TWRP) but I have this error
What could be the problem ?
Another developer used the same stock ROM as base to make his own custom ROM (I'm using that one and it works!)
Maybe I have to use another kitchen?

Could you post your updater-binary and updater-script file here
Hi @YuriRM many thanks for interesting in the project. Thanks also to you @[email protected]
Here are the updater-binary and updater script from my custom romhttps://drive.google.com/open?id=1_xCsP_GqGUj202jdx4xOgXwPSwDprEam.
I used a Takee1 stock rom as base to develop this rom but I used a stock rom downloaded from internet because I lost the backup of my original stock rom.
We can also try to make a new rom from YOUR stock rom if you can provide it to me
Long time ago I read somewhere that the Takee1 was sold in 2 versions with a small difference, I have to check better this thing

Your Script looks fine, may be problem lies in your updater-binary file try using this attached update binary file. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UZImzerlBglJWFDrPdvok-X7YBsl5sUQ/view?usp=drivesdk
Edit: Also with what kind of editor you used to edit updater script. If you used default notepad app then its obvious you have lost your encoding. Its important that you should use notepad ++
@Mich-C
Francesinha is porting Android 7.1.2 from Validus OS to TAKEE 1. He does not have this device. He ported Mokee 7.1.2 to BQ Aquaris E5 FHD (MT6592).
I have prepared detailed instructions for Francesinha on this post. It is a Portuguese and English mix. This text is the best instruction set for TAKEE 1 ROMs yet. Would you like to read a fully English version? It can be produced by me if you request it.
Are you willing to test this Android 7.1.2 ROM by Francesinha once it is ready for download?

Wow! In the next days I'll replace the updater-script in my rom and I'll report back the result.
It seems to me that I didn't edit at all those 2 files, they were just generated by the dsixda kitchen, anyway I usually use the leafpad editor installed on my linux distro

Never found this post on xda!
I installed that Kitkat Rom 4.4.2 linked in the post(developed by a russian dev called luckasfb) it worked perfectly except for the main camera (completely unusable for a driver problem)
Then I went back to another Stock rom found on NeedRom but the O.S. is unstable and the microphone doesn't work if the screen it's locked.
I need to test those other 2 stock roms!
Anyway, did you tryed that 6.0.1 rom linked in the post?

The official tester for TAKEE 1 ROMs is @io2345. He has produced excellent test reports and short guides on LuckasFB and VladJocker ROMs. Follow his instructions to achieve fully working cameras on Android 4.4 and 6.0.1 ROMs. @io2345 is the best tester of all TAKEE 1 owners! Io2345 and I have a very productive partnership.
We should be having this conversation in the TAKEE 1 thread on order to benefit all owners.

I'm italian so I understand spanish and french quite well but with portuguese it's different so yes, I need help XD
Anyway once the Rom is ready why don't you test it too? It should be just a zip file as usual

AVAST antivirus has disabled KingRoot and removed several components in my Takee 1 device. Therefore, I lost root access and the ability to install new ROMs in this device. But I am quite happy with the 3D performance of the 10th September 2015 stock ROM. Unfortunately, it has Gyroscope and GPS bugs.
Another TAKEE 1 unit that I owned and now belongs to my cousin has the patched stock ROM of November 2015 with boot image of October 2015. It is working nice!
I will do the translation in order to be read by everybody.
P.S. - Francesinha is a 16 year old boy. He understands English with Google Translator, I guess. He will be pleased to read your post in his thread. You are welcomed in AndroidPT too!

Woah! Avast done this when you plugged in the phone to the PC?!
Did you try to flash a stock from the PC using SP flash tool? It worked for me even when the phone was bricked. Flashing a zip from the sd-card always has a lower succes rate.
Let's hope well for Francesinha work! If he sign in on Xda we can help him better
How to install a bug free Android 4.4 custom ROM by LuckasFB (Written by @io2345)
How to install a bug free Android 4.4 custom ROM by LuckasFB.
Written by @io2345
After getting some experience with the latest KitKat-ROM (4.4.2) developed by LuckasFB, I can tell you all that it's useable. VoIP calls work as well as GPS, Gyro, 3D. Not sure if LuckasFB is still working on better/newer firmware, so currently it is probably the best choice. All of the hints and links are posted "somewhere" in this thread with more than 100 pages and over 1000 entries, so let me sum it up (YuriRM already did that several times before):
First, install TRWP recovery: Flash the file inside this archive (you have to extract it)
https://mega.nz/#!hgYCwIYb!BYlmRnTVzWribPKlQDkmCR5ggT5GCkflIFbjeawg5Jk
as recovery-file using SPFlash-Tool.
Place this two files (without extracting them) in the phones memory or the root of your phones SD-Card (if you use one):
KK custom ROM
https://mega.nz/#!B5Q3gAga!OLh4sLFZ8dxkzkwazV1hI9xfIc2rP2a_C4QL_LQlOGA
micro.zip
https://mega.nz/#!o5RE3KYb!Wel6c3q8GKEovptvRdAZFj1ZlCERiCWYsjjj8K1_bg0
Connect phone to a charger, switch it off, and when restarting it, hold "Vol up" pressed, until TRWP-Menu shows. Use "Wipe"-Function, after that "Install" and select the two ZIP-Files, install them and reboot.
Install from play store any power manager app that can do a "hot reboot" (example: "Power Manager" by Guiseppe Montuoro).
After boot wait some time (like 10 minutes), then try to open camera. When the selfie camera is started, make a hot reboot using the power manager app. Start camera again, both cameras will work now (note: as long as "unable to open camera" or "gallery error" shows up or camera just doesn't start, hot reboot is useless).
Getting 3D-Effect (only necessary if you use SD-Card): Copy the two files "HolographyProfile" and "matrix" from the phones folder "Android" into the folder "Android" on the sd-card. The (already preinstalled) App "3D Video" contains four 3D Movies. Hint: If 3D-Effect is ghosty (doubled elements in the picture) try to tilt the phone just a few degrees to the right instead of looking in the very middle of the screen.
Rather than switching off the phone at night, only put it in airplane mode. Saves energy for the battery and you from doing a camera restart the next day...
App that makes use of the gyro effect and has appropriate videos: Install DiscoveryVR from play store. Open a video (like: Shark Storm), move the phone up/down/left/right to change the viewing angle.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73634579&postcount=1127
Besides from saying, that leaving the screen on when charging is no option for me, I am quite pleased with the current firmware (don't have any clicks either). I told you, that I do not switch off the phone but put it into airplane at night, where battery drops by 1% or even stays at the same value until the morning. Once I had an issue with the card in SIM1 not willing to work when leaving airplane mode, but that occured only once in ten days now and can be solved by a normal reboot. Battery of the phone isn't too strong, but takes me through the day with normal usage of a man (really doubt, if a woman can do one day without recharging). Usually I end up at night with about 30% left. Screen is the greatest consumer, so if you watch a movie on the phone, you will have a drop of 10% of the battery every 15-20 minutes. WiFi and mobile radio also consume some greater part of the energy, so you might do a good while longer if you watch movies in airplane mode. WiFi reception and GPS are just so-so, maybe due to the metal frame of the Takee. For me it is good enough, and I just love the smooth finish of the phone.

Hi @YuriRM new updates on my custom stock rom for the takee1:
I just replaced in my .zip rom the update-binary file kindly provided by @[email protected]
But I couldn't test this "fixed" rom : I tryed to boot my phone into recovery mode as usual (power button + volume down) but strangely it didn't work so I had to dowload an app that allowed me to reboot into recovery mode.
Well, I just got a message that says there isn't a recovery on my phone ( the phone can boot the OS without issues)
I don't know how it could be possible, I flashed and fixed phones with bricked roms many times but I have never got a problem like this...
What can you can tell me about?

Hi Mich-C! I am on vacations now. Maybe @[email protected] can help you.
My phone has gone bezerk after using the charger from another phone. It often freezes and the screen goes Black. I may try to reinstall Android.
If something is damaged then I will buy another 3D phone... the SuperD D1 from eFox or CooliCool.

Yes, try to reinstall the stock rom and buy a new battery I think you' ll solve the problem.
About my device instead: We have many roms for the takee1 and I made my own rom too but If I can't access recovery how can I flash them?!
Ok I' ll wait your return from vacation
You can use SPFlash and only flash the recovery.img, can't you? Use the LuckasFB Recovery-Image containing TWRP28.
BTW: You know that for Takee you can only access Recovery if the phone is connected to a charger - do you?
Hello everyone!
I put myself in a problem here, my mum wanted a new phone and I suggest led Lenovo Z5 as her best option.
I put my money into my alipocket and I was about to buy it when I noticed that there isn't any official international ver of it.
I wouldn't mind the Chinese room if it means I get updates, but I don't know if I can actually install Google play on it..I can't see any info on Zmui
Also if I bought the Chinese ver, will I be able to flash a official international stock rom on it and receive OTA update?
Or will the same idea work if I bought the rooted ver they offer?
about z5
i am a chinese and i bought a Z5 about 3 weeks ago.
The most attractive part of the phone is the 1080P LED screen after using a AMOLED for a long time (worried about my eyesight)
I've never used a ZUI before (i've MI 3 && OP3T). Before buying the phone, my friend tell me about the bad impact of ZUI to his Z2 (AnTuTu Tester remark is lower a lot than a aosp and some roms ) which means the optimization of ZUI may be bad.
After getting the phone, the ZUI annoy me ... Though the ZUI 3.9Ver is based on 8.1 with GAPPS in it, the settings is too poor and the gesture is not well enough. Although with a 6G size RAM, it killed app even you lock it (the utilization is low means most of ram is useless ....). I dislike the ZUI default launcher(ZUI launcher) and replace it with Pixel launcher.
About Root: the phone do not support root or you Warranty is go, but you still have way to root it
About OTA: the rom support OTA if it is not rooted
hmmm last i cannot find any rom like los to flash (that's really shame)
I am really satisfied with the screen ( it must be the best in screen in this price )
Hi
I just bought the phone and it will arrive next week.
I have been really attracted by the looks.
I think I can leave with ZUI.
But tell me how is the performance of the camera both in good but also low light conditions?
Hi i'm from Spain and i love the desing of this phone levono z5 but i want to know if it comes with ZUI i could change it to android, is this posible?

Here's the link in Chinese. https://club.lenovo.com.cn/forum-1490-0-0-reply_time-0-1
Hi, i am assuming you dont like ZUI and want to change to stock android,
Well the phone is still new to the market, i have not seen any developer working on a rom yet, as of now there are no other options then using the stock operating system.
FYI, i am using Zuk z2 pro with custom rom from mokeedev which is also stock android. I got my Lenovo Z5 last week, there is lot of chinese bloatware in there, so i havent switched yet, i am also waiting for a different android operating system. hope this helps.
I bought one from DX.com
You can switch the language to English, but there will be a few Chinese elements (eg. on the keyboard)
These can be easily fixed by installing a 3rd party keyboard, for example.
Mine didn't come with any Google apps but I was able to install the Google Play Store from this APK:

It supports project treble. Some users flashed the stock rom through that. But I think official engineers never try hard in bug fix.
Thanks everyone about the information! If only Lenovo used Stock android like Umidigi Z2! It would have been excellent to use
But is Lenovo z5 going to have a Android P update? If so then wouldn't that optime the phone in the future?
Or is it possible to wait for a working stock android rom for Lenovo z5 ?
Another thing, my mum loves the super bright screen on Lenovo and it's big, she says she wants a lot of her apps running in the background and she needs USB C
I don't trust Umidigi phones, Oppo A5 is over priced with no fingerprint sensor and low ram, vivo phones don't have USB C and xiaomi phones are just darn ugly.
is there any twrp in our lenovo z5?

Lenovo Z5 ROM problem
:crying:Good afternoon, I bought a lenovo z5 arrived yesterday, when I called it I noticed that there was no software of the ZUI, ie, it has a rom that is not for this phone, does not match the notifications with the notch, has navigation bar etc. nothing matches, what do I do? Does anyone know where I can download the appropriate ROM for it?
i bought it at geekbuying
I'm in the same exact situation as Paulacfmsimoes, bought the z5 from geekbuying and it came preinstalled with a butchered frankestein version of the stock rom. Its bootloader is unlocked as well. I'm desperately trying to find a way to install the normal stock rom version, so if anyone has an idea, please help!
Please HELP!!!
I Deleted some important system files on the phone and now it does not torn on.
i did managed to install the TWRP recovery so if one of you guys hes this phone and you can upload me a system backup with TWRP you will save my ass!!
i bought this phone to my girlfriends birthday and now its dead
pleaseee replay and help me
This would be the absolute perfect time for one of you guys to help us out. (both us idiots that bought the phone from geekbuying with that beaten down custom rom and cohavio as well). I anyone with ZUI 3.9 that has the chinese and english version of the rom could make a back-up, that would be awesome!

I don't have the phone yet. But its possible that I will have it for a short time. If you tell me exactly how did you install TWRP (steps and the image of TWRP you used) and a proof that it works I may be able to help you.
