Let's say I want to quickly text a number from one of my contacts to another person. In everyone of my previous android phones, I could open the contact and then long press the particular number, either mobile or home phone number and it would give me the option to copy the number which I could then paste into a text. When I try it on the M8, it gives me several selections, none of which are "copy number". I am well aware that I can choose "send contact" but some people can't receive vcards or don't want anything but the one phone number. Anyone know of any mods, hacks, etc. to enable this?
Hold number, click edit, then copy.

couple of unnecessary steps, especially having to long press the number in the edit screen but thanks for the tip.

This is my first HTC phone so excuse my ignorance. I have a page size people widget on my phone I use as speed dial. It's an HTC widget filled with pictures of my favorite contacts and I can quickly call or text someone. But at times a blue number appears on one of the pictures/contacts. I don't know what it means or how I can access any information from it. Any idea?
Facebook updates.

The blue number represents a missed call, txt, or an update from a social network.

Hmmmm, thanks for the responses but it doesn't make sense. My wife's picture has a number 7 by it. She had not texted me, has no missed calls, and does not have a facebook account. I do not sync with facebook anyways. How do I clear it or access it? Any idea?

I assume you have tried rebooting?

It also includes calendar events. I had a contact with a birthday coming up, and it showed a "1" by their name. I do not have Facebook linked to my contacts.
So I figured it out. It appears that anything related to that person is connected to that number. In my wife's case, there were emails from her that I had erased but not opened. Somehow they still show up. As soon as I opened one, the number reduced by one. Silly if you asked me. You can access it by pressing the number and then on the lower edge of the opened menu you can change tabs to see what is new. Whole lotta blah.... Gimme aosp any day over this sense crap.

I am using CM6.1.3 ROM on my X10i. May I know, how to change my own (Me) avatar in SMS?
Sorry if this seems obvious, I did it a long time ago, but I seem to remember just going to
My number
(its the first one in my contacts, even before the 'A's)
Long clicking on it and choosing edit.
Then clicking on the picture and changing it.

What if it doesn't show my number, but only "Unknown"?

You can still change the avatar, it's just that the phone cannot read the number off your sim.

Goto

(Scroll down right to the bottom)

My phone number
Then enter it manually
if the last post doesn't work, just create a contact with your number, and it will fix it.

Any way to automaticly display e-mail images with out having to push the display images button every time ? Thanks in advance
I just asked the same question. I did a search and didn't find this one. I'm sure I'll get flamed for that one. I feel it's a pain having to press this every time.

Just get a different email app. Some apps have more options than others.

I am using GMX Mail. When you touch display images/pictures it will pop up if you want to do this for all email from that contact. I know that is not quite what you are looking for but if you get emails frequently from same sender may help.
I want an app, which would hide number or contact from a particular number when they call

I too want to hide caller number from my screen, if I save the phone number 123456789 in the name "softheart", when she calls, her name as well as number apper in my android screen. I want to see her name only. I want to hide her number if any other member in my home watches my phone screen. how is it possible?? pls help, thanks in advance. ( other phones displays only caller name, but android shows number and name).
Any solution?
Does any one got a solution? even for a rooted ROM?
I've been looking for this for a long time too pal. Not for the exact same reason though, I just don't want the people around me to know the number of the person who's calling me or the person that I call. It's not good for business. But we both want the same thing. To hide the freaking number when the contact is already saved.
I hope some developer finds a way to make this mode
Me too want to hide number ..........
I keep getting spam calls and would like to shut them off without going to voice mail. If the spammers get an indication that the phone number is a valid number they will continue to call. I have tried to block them but they have so many different numbers it is impossible.
Any ideas? Thanks
Have you ever tried youmail? Its a app that's basically visual voice mail. You can see the number the message is from and just deleye rather than dialing in entering your pin and then pressing the key to delete. Give it a shot I found out about it on xda somewhere and like it better than the regular voicemail. Hope this helps

You could also try Mr Number. That app has an option to pick up and immediately hang up on people.
