Haven't tried it, but all tutorials on the internet about compiling android are for linux. Probably because android is a linux based operation system. I don't think it's possible to compile on windows
Install linux or use the live CD...
well I guess I'll have to install Ubuntu then
Thanks... and any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated..

Sorry, it's not quite as simple as that. First set up your Linux install, and all necessary tools (check the Android developers site), and then come back and ask where to begin!
any chance by making an htc sense ui custom rom for it?
Custom ROM
Can I also get the custom ROM for SG 551?
Thanks,
Disha

+1 to this. Using Alcatel S'Pop which runs on MT6575. Hope mediatek releases their own src.
Isn't Gigabyte GS202 based on MT6577 ?
I have that phone and it says GS202+ (maybe the plus is the difference?) and it's a MT6577 Dual Core 1GHz whereas MT6575 is a single core.
I wish someone would make a CWM for these phones.

Sounds great but this part worries me. Doesn't this kill the manufacturers recovery which is installed on the phone by default and which is used for non OTA official upgrades? If this kills that and something goes wrong with the installation are you still able to boot into recovery of the phone? I'm a bit worried that I could brick the phone.

This file is responsible for the return of stock recovery. If you don't remove it, it will return the stock recovery.

I've got a reply from Gigabyte saying they won't be upgrading the GS202/GS202+ from ICS to JB but I was thinking;
The Maya M1 which is the latest model running JB is using the same MT6577 as GS202+. The main difference is the camera (8 Vs. 5 Mpixel) and the higher resolution screen. Maybe it would be possible to combine the two official firmwares into one new for GS202+ JB. It is an almost untouched Google UI.
Just a thought. any comments...?

Hi, My name is Mark David. I am holding right now a phone you have never heard before. Its called the iNO One . At first when i bought the phone, I went to the ino wikia site where I could root, install the clockworkmod recovery and flash his custom rom. The phone is similar to the Lenovo A750 and I successfully was able to port the Lewa OS developer version rom from the official website into the iNO One.
Unfortunately, while I was reading up the manufacturer facebook, I soon found out that they will not be providing the source code for this phone.
I hope you can teach or help me to port other roms like e.g CM10.1 for this phone using the source code.
I hope that you can help me

can these sources work for you guys? These are alcatel sources but they are all mediatek boards. maybe they will work with other mediatek phones too.

The problem right now is that I don't know how to use the source code to port eg. CM10.1 to the phone. I'm trying to port 4.2.2 jelly bean to my phone. My phone is a MT6575 phone. Both MT6575 and MT6577 are very similar just that MT6577 is the dual core version of MT6575.

You can search forums, there are some guides on how to make a kernel using source code nd if u succeed in making a cm10 for mt6575 then I think u will be first one to do that nd then hopefully we can port that to our mt6575 phones!
Best of luck!

How do i build a rom for a device without a source

Hello i have a chinease tablet that is a gemini joytab. How would i build a rom (havent done it before) but if there is a tutorial for this i would be grateful or a rough guide or somewhere to start.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
I have set up a ubuntu box and got the cm sources.
I followed the instructions to build the device files from boot.img
Tweaked the BoardConfig.mk and can build recoverys from source now using the stock kernel.
Only problem with this is the 'dtb' part of the recovery.img.
I use Android Image Kitchen to copy the original recovery dtb to the ones i have build.
[Q]Can anyone tell me how to build dtb in the recovery at build time?
I have downloaded the android and kernel source from LG for D620.
Source from LG
[Q] Can anyone tell me how to merge them with the CM source?
In general i need some help to build the kernel from source, the instructions in the LG source don't work for me.

Hello,
It's the wrong place for this type of questions, u should post it in the corresponding sub-xda topic instead of.
To answer you without going into too much detail otherwise my few lines will turn into paragraphs with several kilometers long...
In a very simple way and in just a few words: the task can very quickly get complicated even for experienced developers, and i don't say that as kernel developers because i've never ventured into it, but in the meantime it's a custom and kernel ROM developer who told me that it's very complicated to adapt a kernel for a new phone from scratch, and i suppose that the task is even more so when the phone is an MTK because the kernel originally had to be designed for devices equipped with arm or mips processors..
