Hi. I followed your instructions and I'm stuck at the download pop up. It just hangs.
Anyone else having issues?

Try this:
Download the twrp 2.7.1.0 .img from the link below. Make sure it is .img file.
Do not download .tar file
http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/klte
Then install the flashify app from playstore.
Open flashify
Hit 'flash recovery image' button
Then hit 'choose a file'
Now choose the file you just downloaded
(looks something like: twrp-2.7.1.0-gt-klte.img
Flashify will flash the image for you. Once its done, just reboot into recovery mode and twrp screen should come up

Just want to be able to use the Rom manager app to manage my backups. I like to organize by the name of the Rom within Rom manager. I may be wrong but going into recovery mode only allows me to see dates and time of backup.

I'm guessing u mean twrp (TeamWin recovery project). I would stick with that, but it's more of a personal preference. Just try both and see what u like best. They are easily flashable with a pc38img.zip through the bootloader.

If its the same as the evo, then it shouldn't. It just replaces the other recovery. If you don't mind doing this, you can get a file manager (like astro) and go into the folder where your backups are and rename the backups. However, I would only use letters, numbers and they default symbol that they use in the backups (usually a - or a .)

What I do is I keep the nandroid backups in a folder on my computer. If I want to flash a recovery (which I never do unless I'm at home anyway), I just mount the SD card and copy over. I only keep one on my card saving those precious GB for other goodies.
Thanks for all ur input. Soon as I get to my PC I will hit the thanks button.

I installed pre beta 3 and then rom manager said I need to insert an sd card. I have one in so I partitioned it and that fixed it. Then I downloaded and installed gapps using cwn recovery. 4.0.1.4 I think. After that there was nothing new in my app drawer. Am I being stupid idk exactly how everything works yet. Would gapps give me market because that's all I really need.

Go to bootloader then recovery find install zip from SD card go into clockworkmod folder find the zip file for gapps which if I'm correct its called go inside me" or something similar and flash it that way. Sometimes when I'm installing roms for reviews that's how I have to do it

For some odd reason everytime I try to copy the file to my SD or Internal phone memory, it won't let me. Maybe it's my computer but I don't think so, I just keep getting this message "Cant copy file, program is not responding" Anyone with some input on this?

Hey, that was slick. I must have read it 20 times and tried it 1-2 times, but got it to work. Thank you... One stupid question: After the install, I expected to be able to turn the phone off and start up using Volume down, home, and power and get into the TWRP again, but it didn't work that way. Am I suppose to use falshify each time I want to get into TWRP?

If you have a non-working android/recovery/bootloop, here is a way to restore FULL STOCK with a PC
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g-pad-83/general/vk810-verizon-lg-g-pad-8-3-to-stock-t2800857
NOTE:
This is only for the vk810 Verizon LTE model (product name altev)
/system and boot.img (kernel) is backed up. stock recovery IS NOT included (scroll to bottom of post)
Download: (neither has recovery.img)
A) (JB4.2) Fully stock 4.2.2 system&boot.img, prerooted
B) (JB4.2) Stock 4.2.2 system&boot.img with a lot of crapware removed, prerooted
C) (KK4.4)Fully stock 4.4.2 system&boot.img, prerooted (you'll need to install SuperSU apk manually though) mirror
You need TWRP installed
Untar and copy the folder somewhere on the device (Windows: use p7zip)
Boot to TWRP
Backup your current ROM.
Yes, remember to backup your current ROM
Wipe cache/dalvik/data
Restore this backup within TWRP
Reboot to ROM
Once ROM boots, it'll say "Preparing your tablet" and get stuck there for some time (probably copying files from the /system to the empty /data partition
If you want to restore stock recovery, you'll need to do it manually via dd

Drgravy said:
sure get it here: http://goo.gl/cmrBwV
shouldn't need to loki patch it
just copy it to your internal storage and flash with dd
open your terminal on your pc enter the following commands
Code:
adb shell
su
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
exit
exit
just make sure the commands are exactly right
