Hey, the metal ring around my audio jack has came loose. I noticed some glue residue on it, so I glued it back on.
Does this ring in any way affect the waterproofing of the phone? Or is the waterproofing seal further in?
Regards
No, it would not affect anything. The headphone hole is enclosed in a box and sealed with glue.

I need another spare part, the earpiece with metal grill. I've found around only ones without the grill. Do you have a clue where to find one?
Does anyone know if there is gasket under the speaker grille or the speaker grill makes it waterproof itself?
not sure
i theorized that the material there is bonded to the frame
perhaps there is a dissasembaly guide video and you can watch that to see what comes off of a Z2
I wondered about small gaps in the top of the speaker grill, but found that this won't affect waterproofness. Now I'm just curious about how the speaker is sealed.
Anyway, thanks for the info.
My front speaker grills are too dusty. How can I clean them. Last time I tried to clean my z1c with iso propyl alcohol ended up removing grille. I'm afraid to wash and grille is too thin to use a cotton swab.
Can someone tell me how to clean without damaging? Thanks

I used a toothpick.
Just be a little careful and it will do the job just fine (according to me at least)
Toothpick. Works like a charm.
just use a brush
Gently wash with a little water and a toothbrush.
I wouldn't go near them with a toothpick, I'm guessing there's a waterproof membrane covering the speakers and a toothpick could easily damage it.

Use a soft brush and a vaccum cleaner. Keep sucking part near the speaker and brush it using soft brush. I do cleaning that way!!:good:

You can use a double side tape and past it on the speaker drill and remove it back gently . The dust will come to the double tape. It works for my xperia z5 prem. Make sure to use a cheap double side tape and also not that cheap one as some tapes will leave few glue particals in the pasted surface Dont use 3m double tape, it might removes your speaker drills ??
So my top speaker grill / mesh / cover fell off... Any idea where to buy a replacement?

if you still have the mesh/grill you can just hot glue it back on (i took a toothpick with hot glue on it and spread it around the edges).
FYI, yes, gluing the speaker mesh back works for a while. If it falls of again, or in my case snaps in half, you can consider cleaning off the adhesive. This would expose the speaker hole, but it seems the speakers are powerful enough that even if you cover the speaker hole with a piece of tape, sound still pass through... that way at least dust won't get in as easily.
Also, looking into buying some wire mesh and cutting to size.
My wife dropped my wheelchair on my old Moto Z and decimated the display. Have done the replacement but for some reason I can't get any adhesive to actually stay on the frame. Glue doesn't set, tape doesn't stick. I've used all the usual repair adhesives and I'm stumped. Any ideas what might be going on?
I have gone through both tape and adhesive B7000 on multiple Moto Zs. Always no problem, I scraped old one away and cleaned by alcohol after and glue always worked.
