I like being able to look at my taskbar when browsing. Anyway to turn off fullscreen browsing?
With you on that one there! Love the fact you get maximum webpage space but just a little bar at the top would be nice, also would enable you to check and respond to notifications without closing the page.
I would like to know if there is a way too ...
anyone figure out a way?
I don't think there is a way to do it with the built in browser which is a bit rubbish really.
An alternative would be to get another browser such as Steel off of the Market but it doesn't feel polished enough to replace the default one to me. Hopefully Opera Mobile is nice when that arrives

What dont you like about the built in one that Opera does better?
I want to see the notification bar as well. I would love to see what's going on on my device while I'm browsing. Now I am forced to close the browser first.
I just tried Steel, but I really miss the multitouch zoom. I'm afraid I'll have to stick with the built-in browser.
I want this too! If only to see my reception / H / E /wifi logo etc just to know how I am connected! Oh and the time
Could someone post an apk with Android's default browser? Maybe if we ask in another sub-forum?
Just a heads up to everyone... if you haven't tried the app Quick Pic on your NC, you owe it to yourself to do so. It is by far the fastest and most responsive gallery app I've ever used on Android. Period.
It also makes a fantastic comic viewer if you've unzipped all of the comic images into their own folders.
For your convenience, I've attached the apk.

That one?
Awesome, thank you for sharing!
It's called QuickPic (Picture Folder) in the Market.
thanks! have to give it a try ... stupid question, is there an easy way to uninstall any of the apps and it will do a clean uninstall.
first time playing with android and installing apps left and right but I'm not sure if that's the best thing to do
Okay, that is a fantastic application. Finally, a way to manage mass amounts of photo data.
_Thank_you_
Wow, this app is awesome. Its like gallery app on steroids. It is beyond snappy or responsive. Thanks OP.

You'll need Nook Color Tools -> All Settings -> Manage applications
i cannot find recent screenshots in my pic gallery using this app. I can only see then when using the original gallery app. Any Help?
after the recent update, quickpic now zooms on double-tap instead of single-tap. I don't like double-tapping/pinch2zoom all the time, do you know how to change it back to single-taps ?
I tried to find the homepage/forum of the developer to ask him that, but failed... -only found some chinese page
there is no settings/preferences button for this app, right?
QuickPic works good for local pictures, but does nothing with remote pictures. JustPictures works great for remote pictures (Flickr, Picasa), but always does a scan that takes quite a while for local pictures.
I use both, depends on what I'm doing.
I wish QuickPic had an option to not disable the status bar.
this app vs google's stock 2.1 gallery any comments?

I'm not sure exactly what the stock google 2.1 gallery is, but if it's the 3Dgallery, or the original Nook Color gallery, then the Quickpic app isn't quite as fancy, but it also hasn't choked on large quantities of very large photo files, which both of the prior mentioned apps couldn't handle. I also had problems with JustPictures choking on multiple folders with over 100 (5+mb) photos in each.
I would list Quickpic as more utilitarian. It does the job, and does it fairly well.
What about Floating Image?
It doesn't help when you want to find a particular image, but browsing a gallery is heavenly in that app.
Great suggestion
Thanks for suggesting this... I really like the Froyo 3D Gallery, but its not as smooth and some things are just annoying, especially when loading new pictures.
QuickPic is damn good for my needs.
i wish there was a good flickr app, with the same layout as quickpic. quickpic is awesome.

been looking for something like this, thanks for the suggestion!
Great app, was using just pictures until now which was far better than the standard gallery app.
if im in the wrong here for a new thread, please delete it.
I think everyone can agree that the standard gallery on the atrix isnt the smoothest. Many people like me, are using quick pic. Awesome app!
My question is, how do you make that gallery the default gallery when coming straight from the camera interface? (selecting the little pic on the bottom left)
I didnt think it could be done but now im using greyblur and the dev has somehow managed to place the google 3D gallery in its place!
Any chance of putting quick pic there instead???
anybody? This gallery is driving me nuts
Can anyone recommend a good gallery app, paid or free. I installed gingerbread and although I like the new gallery it's just so slow. It never loads all the thumbnails so I can't tell what each picture is without pressing it.
I appreciate any suggestions.

I use QuickPic -- its free on the market. Great gallery app, fast, smooth, loads up images in NO time.
I'm using Gallery+ right now cuz I hate 2.3.4's Gallery, gotta try that QuickPic one.
I use Quickpic. Love it.

Thanks you guys. I will check those out out.

I use to think it was the 2d gallery app, but I can't install it on gingerblur.. so I say quickpic

+1 for QuickPic
will have to check it out; i HATE that the new gallery is all timecode based; i have all my pics (i am a published pro photographer and cameraman) organized meticulously and the new gallery wont let me just see everything in the old froyo file system. plus it is (WAY) slower and will not properly load thumbnails so 95% of my shots (which i keep in full res on the external SD card) show up without a thumbnail or title.
totally unacceptable to me. also i dont do social networking (AT ALL, i call/tango/skype if needed and talk or text but i prefer REAL human interaction) so tagging etc is useless for me.
+982343 for QuickPic
Super fast, and also renders images you use for WALLPAPER without any quality loss; if you set a wallpaper using the stock gallery vs quickpic you will see a stark difference.

yep, i noticed this straight away, with the wallpapers, and luckily quickpic does them perfectly, best gallery ive used.
Is the crap quality wallpaper thing a problem with the atrix gallery app or is it the same on other phones?
You guys are all correct, Quickpic is great. I need to start recommending it to people. Thanks again.

Another vote for Quickpic here... Flashed 2.3.4 a few days ago and I have been more than disappointed with the new stock gallery app. Quickpic is definitely the answer. It organizes everything for you.

Quickpic has my vote! So much easier to use!
Agreed quick pic is great but I also use b and b http://gallery.breadandbuttertool.com/ which has better folder options in certain circumstances imo. Those 2 though are all I need really!
quickpic!!
Quickpic is about the best.
But one feature that they ALL lack is an ability (option) not to recursively show subfolders.
ie, I have a folder called pets, and inside two more called cat, and dog. From the main gallery I only want to see pets and any images in pets. If I want to dig into cat or dog, I want to see those as subfolders. Just like folders in Windows.
If you like the idea of this, send an email to the author of quickpic. I requested this and he likes the idea. He said maybe if more people request it.
Okay, my personal mission aside.
Has anyone frozen (TiBu) the stock gallery app? I don't like it, and I'm tired of it littering my /sd with cache folders all over the place.
Yet another vote for quickpic.
Hey guys. I did a factory restore on my phone for reasons unrelated to the gallery, but when it was done, the factory gallery now works flawlessly. It loads up almost instantly and the thumbnails are perfect. I still think I like quickpic better, but I thought I would let you guys know what happened.

I have tried a few gallery apps because i totally hate the stock gallery app as well. I love how smooth QuickPic is. They recently released a latest version of this app, making pinch to zoom look like eye candy.
Have a look at this youtube link and see for yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQdOwRCh__g
*Note: This is the old version of QuickPic though....the latest version is WAY smoother.
I like viewing facebook in my dolphin browser, or even the stock android browser. It's a nice way to see the news feed, the only problem is viewing images is a pain. For some reason, all friends photos are cropped, unless you download them. Screenshot attached.
What's wrong?

Edit:
Notice how the "like" "thumbs up" image is cut by about 80% - you can't even tell it's supposed to be a thumb any more.
