I got my moto e today.. & first thing I noticed was its slightly yellowish screen.
On viewing the screens from different angles , its screen appears blue ,white, dark. But on viewing it from front, it appears slightly yellowish which is highly noticeable in case of texts with white background.
Is this normal ??
I had earlier used galaxy Y & xolo q500 that had no such issue.

It seems you have some display problem, kindly return to flipkart and get a new one
The screen has warmer colours compared to other devices, but not outright yellow. Also the viewing angles are not great. But there's no colour inversion that you seem to have.. Must be a defective piece.

Me too has same problem
hi
i too seems to be same problem, i was able identify the problem my matching the display with my brother moto e,
there is a great difference if you compare side 2 side the moto e,
my brother moto e is sparking white screen, while my one has yellow tint,
what are you going to do? are you gettting is replaced, though it not causing any problem, but still the display yellowish,
i guess these are problems present in iphones also, but they say, this is caused due to glue of screen, and will subside once you start using the device, i am using it since one week, it hasnt subsided yey

Hello
I'm new to android and just bought my s3 so forgive me if it's a stupid question
Whenever I watch a movie, there are two or three black spots. I feel like they are dead pixels. It doesn't show up on a white background nor on my ics inspired background but now I notice it a lot during a movie especially if it's a dark colored movie(darkness and all). Are these dead pixels? Is there a display app which I can use to display pure different colors and find out?
Thanks in advance

Spots? If what you are describing look like smears on the screen then no, I think this is an unfortunate defect with oled devices when black is viewed in really dark environments. My phone (not an s3 but uses amoled) exhibits the same problem and my PS Vita shows it very prominently.
A dead pixels is just a pixel (pretty much a dot on the screen) that is stuck in 1 color no matter what's being displayed onscreen.
There's a test screen, just dial *#0*#
However the black spots on dark background when your screen is on minimum brightness (e.g. in darkened rooms) are well-known issues plaguing AMOLED.
There are several threads around here describing them and their possible cause, and at least one developer has announced working on a screen tweak solving this and other typical AMOLED issues.
Yeah it's only noticeable on dark backgrounds with low brightness. I downloaded display tester and ran the dead pixel test and the smears were only noticeable if I looked super hard during a black background, not in blue or red or yellow nor gray. So no dead pixels right ?
Also thank you so much !

If you didn't notice any stuck dots, then your phone is good. As for the smears, pretty much everyone has them. I guess you have to be extremely lucky not to have them (that, or you just haven't noticed them yet so it doesn't bother you). The software solution pointed out above sounds interesting though. Will be watching that
About Dead/Stuck pixel on OLED Device Display
I have a S3 GT-9300 that I use daily, the other day I dropped it on a hard surface and a single shiny green stuck pixel appeared on the bottom left corner of the display, it was a bit of an eye sore really, But I'll share my simple FIX if its a related problem like mine was
I thought if the drop caused it, then a related solution may fix it, so I simple activated display and went to the home page.
then I turned the display facing my palm and held the device carefully at the top end and slapped it several times hard into the palm of my hand where the pixel problem area was. then stuck pixel went away...
I hope this works for you too :good:
i just got a new moto razr hd
the device is brand new but the display looks all yellowish
my friend also has the same phone but when kept aside it shows brighter whites whereas mine shows yellowish tint
any info u guys know why this is there ?
Hello,
I see strange "rainbow" colors on my phone's screen - especially red and blue, when displaying pure white background with full brightness. The color bars are moving up and down, when I'm angling phone. It's not bothering me when displaying photos or something with many colors, but it's annoying when reading a page with pure white background.
I'm attaching some photos. Do you have the same issue? Is it a cause for warranty replacement?
Not having this type of issue.First Clean your screen with a cloth and if it doesnt work ask Flipkart for Replacement
Don't worry dude. It's a low-quality-screen-thingy. Even without white screen try turning your mobile at different angles. Colours subdue. It's to be expected at such a low cost. For this baby, look at the screen only straight-on. Anywhere else and colours blanch.

@Srinadh - Unfortunately cleaning doesn't help. I buyed my phone from European distribution - do you mean that Flipkart is responsible for all devices or you though that I buyed it directly from Flipkart?
@loneagl - The problem is, these bars are visible even when looking straight at the screen. Do you have this issue too?
I thought that you bought directly from Flipkart... and Flipkart is responsible only for Indian Moto E's
I have ordered 2 redmi note 3 32 gb gold one from mi last month and 2nd from amazon 10 days ago.
1st phone showing white disply its ok but 2nd phone showing slightly yellowish disply..
anybody facing same problem?should i replace the phone? or its commen? See the images..
Have you tried disabling automatic contrast (i.e. setting contrast to "standard") on both phones and comparing again? The only other think I can think of is maybe there is more than one manufacturer for the screens and this might be normal?
mine also yellowish

There's another thread on the miui forums pretty identical to this. As the others have said, it's due to the display provider, none of your units is faulty. Most of us have the colder looking display. You can send back the other unit if it's really an issue for you.
Recently I replaced my screen and the new one had a terrible yellowish tint compared to the older one. It was like the phone was on night mode all the time and the white colours where more like yellow than white. I tried to mess with colours in kernel adiutor and by reducing the green value things got a little better, not like the old screen but colours where bearable. Today I took the decision to move from miui to cm and when I booted to twrp colours seemed very normal but I thought that maybe it was in my imagination. But after flashing and booting in cm I see now that colours are perfectly normal like my old screen. So I'm starting to think that the yellowish tint has more to do about miui's settings than the different screen models. Maybe whoever has that yellow tint could try to switch to cm and if the problem does not exitst any more it is definitely a miui problem.
Just got the replacement for my first Mate 20 Pro, which suffered from the green screen issue and luckily it's a BOE screen that doesn't have this issue.
However it appears to me that surfaces have a slight sandpaper-like texture to them instead of being smooth (especially noticeable when using gboard or on grey and white areas).
By the way smart resolution is of course turned off, thought at first that this could be the reason.
what do you mean by sandpaper-like ? Is it the feeling of the screen or is it what it looks like to you when you look at green images?

It's nothing you can feel. It's a visible grainy structure especially noticeable on single coloured surfaces. Kinda reminds me of the issues with the pixel 2 back in the days.
I have a BOE display and have looked tirelessly to see if I could notice this and nope it's just not there for me....
I've just had a replacement BOE phone delivered today, can't see any graininess to it, but the screen is not as bright as the LG one. Side by side the BOE whites are noticeably greyer. Suppose its a trade off, greyer screen vs green bleed

Ok thanks for the info. So it seems like I have to return m mate again and hope for either a working lg (getting hit by a lightning on a sunny day seems more likely) or a boe panel that ism affected (luckily my issue seems to be isolated).

Strangest thing, I checked last night the white on BOE seems definitely more greyish but this morning in the sunlight its the other way round. Maybe I'm just being too picky. If I didn't have the next to each other to compare I would never had notice the difference. My wife has the same phone and her screen seems to be a different shade on the white too.
I think I would keep the BOE if I have to choose. I always think about the resale

Same here, got a BOE screen and the whites are indeed greyish (not as bright as my previous LG screen) and the screen is not as sharp.

My screen is BOE and what I can note in comparation with my S9 is that in the Mate i can see the digitalizer... in the S9 no...
Sometimes if I try to see it very hard...i can see little points from the digitalizer.
donĀ“t know if in the LG screen is the same thing...
But my screen is brighter then my S9. Colors are very good too and resolution...
but i definitely can see the digitalizer..
Some comparations between bu Samsung S9 and the BOE screen of Mate:
