M8 only boots with cyanogenmod 11 - AT&T HTC One (M8)

I have an AT&T HTC One M8 which I messed up trying to upgrade it to 4.4.3. I need to get it back on sense but nothing seems to work. When I try to flash the stock rom I downloaded from another post it says failed. I managed to install CM11. How can I get it back to sense? The Cid is 1111111. I really need help!!! I'm kind of new so I need the step by step process.
Thanks.

What recovery and version are you using? Did you try to download the stock ROM again, or check MD5 to make sure the file wasn't corrupted during download.
Did you try a Sense based custom ROM, there are several based on either the AT&T or "international" stock ROM, that are very close to stock, just debloated and with some optimizations (which are both good things). Personally, I'd recommend the international base over the stock AT&T ROM, anyway.

[Q] Android 4.2.2 Stock installation

I am currently running an international one x+ factory unlocked, with superCID and s-OFF(lucky me ). Naturally, I cannot revive any software updates. I have an nandroid backup of the 4.2.2 stock sense 5 rom, and I have already flashed the firmware for sense 5. However when it comes to the rom installation I am not sure, as I have stock recovery. Is it possible to install with stock recovery? I know the stock rom requires full stock to work. Can someone please provide a guide, or an instruction set?

Another solution. If anyone can link an OTA that I can flash to the RUU, that would work too

[Q] Recommend a near-stock ROM for 4.4.2+ and more

Hello,
I have a stock Rezound at 4.0.3.
I would like to get it up to 4.4.2+ to run a specific app.
I've rooted a couple of phones in the past but never flashed a ROM and never an HTC.
Can someone recommend a stable, near-stock ROM and an outline of the processes?
Thanks

You will not find a "near stock" ROM that is 4.4.2 that will run on the Rez, stock meaning a Sense based ROM... You will have to go to an AOSP build like Plain Andy, Evervolv, or Liquid Smooth... Take you pick and see what strikes your fancy.
If you have never flashed a ROM before, this could be tricky... first step is unlocking via HTCdev.com, this will wipe your phone clean, you will then the latest TWRP recovery, the ROM zip, and Gapps. There are many tutorials on how to do so, and I would recommend going S-OFF at your earliest convenience.

Flashing a Custom Rom

I just rooted my HTC One M8 and I was wondering if I could still flash roms without having s off because my phone has everything required besides the s off portion but I wanted to see if there's a way I can still flash roms because I want to upgrade it to sense 7
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Free mobile app
No, you don't have to be s-off, unless you are flashing a custom, non stock rom like cyanogen mod. I assume you are referring to the Skydragon rom which purports to have the new Sense 7 UI when you say you want to flash a rom with sense 7. Personally I would go s-off before doing anything as it makes reverting back to older firmware much easier. Just scan the q&a thread for all the problems people who are s-on have when jumping from kit kat to lollipop or to dev editions, gpe, etc. Trust me, the $25 spent on Sunshine will be worth the time and headaches you'll get when you start getting flash happy, but that's just my opinion.
As mentioned above, you don't "need" to have s-off to flash a ROM, literally anyway. The ROM will flash, and boot (eventually), and mostly work. But if you are currently on KitKat, and try to go to any Lollipop Sense ROM, its very common you will have some serious issues such as extreme long boot times (10 min or more) with no boot animation (making many folks think it isn't booting at all), broken WiFi, and possibly audio issues. All due to outdated firmware (partitions such as hboot, radio, and more that don't flash with the ROM). And s-off is needed to update to Lollipop firmware, until AT&T releases the LP update officially. In that case, you can update to the proper firmware by official OTA or RUU.

Back to Sense

Current config in signature.
I don't want to go back to stock or s-on or bootlocked I'm just interested in flashing the latest official sense ROM. I'm troubleshooting an issue making/receiving calls. I've already replaced the SIM and have talked with support. I've also tried an older version of the ROM I'm using so I thought I would give the sense ROM a try. What is the easiest way to go about this?

Can I downgrade HTC ONE M8 from 6.0 to 5.0 or 4.4.4?

Hi guys I have an AT&T HTC ONE M8 and it was rooted and running 4.4.4 and TWRP and then something happened to it which caused me to go RUU and restore the device and unroot it and everything. Then I was on 6.0 and rooted it with the HTC ONE M8 rootkit and flashed SuperSU and TWRP on it and currently its still running rooted 6.0 with TWRP, I don't like marshmallow and I want to downgrade to kitkat or lollipop. My bootloader is unlocked and I am S-ON! Please someone explain very thoroughly how I can downgrade as I am not 100% tech-savy as we speak.
Thank You Guys So Much!
You can simply TWRP flash a 5.0 based M8 ROM, or restore a 5.0 backup and it will work. I believe the same is also true for 4.4.4. But not 4.4.3, as it is not compatible with newer firmware (hboot, radio, etc.). And you need s-off to downgrade that firmware.
Be aware, whatever you think you are gaining from downgrading; you are losing by not having years of Android security updates (patches to vulnerabilities, etc.).
Thanks Mate! Can you redirect me to a 5.0 Rom?

Not specifically, no. You can search the ATT Dev section for 5.0 ROM as easily as I can. Or if you don't need or want an ATT based ROM, you can also look in the "international" Dev section: https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/development
Also, ROMs which have been updated (Android 6, 7) may or may not still have links to 5.0 versions.
Alternately (and probably easier to find) just restore a stock TWRP backup of a 5.0 ROM: https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860
You don't need (or want) to restore the data partition, so it is essentially the same as flashing a ROM (although getting the files to the right location is a bit trickier). Also, no need to install stock recovery (as getting an OTA update is not what you want). Then root if desired.
