trying to do the tmobile unlock. having probs. - HTC One Max

I got me a sprint HTC one max and started following the steps to unlock it. I did the boot loader unlock first and it worked fine. It now shows it unlocked on the boot loader. Next I flashed the cwm. That seemed to work fine too. After that I flashed the insecure kernel. And after that I wasn't able to start up the phone anymore.
It would show funky colors and boot up to the HTC logo and restart.
I did everything again and now I can boot up to a rom but only to the lock screen. If I swipe to unlock it I end up on an HTC screen. Sense doesn't start up. What can I do now? Side load?
I can't get to finish the soft from rumrunner because after it boots up it only stays on for so long before the reboot.
I'm new to the HTC one but not to flashing.

Which ROM did you flash? do tell us what CID / Model your phone is

Use Firewater to S-Off. Rumrunner won't work on some versions of Android, especially 4.4.2.
I had the same exact problem you're having now, with the funky colors. You might be hard-bricked, just like I was. DO NOT FORMAT ANYTHING, or you'll lose your stock ROM, and there doesn't seem to be a stock ROM available, right now. If you already have, get ViperMAX 2.0.0 as your new OS. It's as close to stock as our models can get right now, and it ROCKS.
Check out the thread, I started, on this issue and subscribe to it. I have a feeling we'll get some great peeps to help us out!
Note the programs I'm using as well. Might help. I spent 20+ hours on this.

Rogers Evo 3D Failed Ruu Recovery

Hey everyone, pretty new to the forums. I have been tinkering with trying to root my new rogers evo 3d i got a few days ago. I ran into some issues, and thought i had soft bricked my phone, it seemed to the point of no return, so just wanted to share what i did to make it work. Ive read a few posts were others had a similar issue and didnt seem to be resolved. I used the Revoluntionary Method, at 1st i was having trouble with the HTC drivers, the program no matter how many i tried would crash on install. So i just skipped all the stpes and just ran the Revoluntinoary Program, it actualy did everything, including install the HTC drivers all automated, worked awesome. Then not realising that i couldnt do most roms on a rogers gsm phone, i tried and failed with many roms. The one and only rom that i was able to install, was leedroid. This rom worked perfect everytime......but only on the 1st boot, if i tried to restartt the phone it would hang on the HTC logo. At this point i just wanted to revert back to rogers stock rom......but of course i didnt back anything up! I downloaded the rogers Ruu listed on here, and figured hey this will do the trick. After runiing the rogers Ruu and failing many times, i was frustated. Not only did it fail the flash, but it also locked my boot and left me S Off. Now every time i tried to start my phone, i would get the HTC logo screen with the !!!! in each corner, unplugging the usb gave me the locked hboot screen, and of course the Ruu kept failing. From everthing i read in the forums, it seemed toast. Since the RUU kept failing on the extract part it seemed, i thought maybe try to free up some space on the sd card......then i decided to just do a quick format on the card(Used card reader). For whatever reason, after formatting my sd card and rebooting the phone....it just started right up in stock rom, like the day i got it. Didnt even have to try the Ruu again, it just worked. Sorry for the long winded post, just wanted to give a brief history on everything i had done. Hopfully this helps someone out there that was stuck at the same location i was.
I think your in the wrong section bud. But good to know.

My Phones a Rogers Evo 3D GSM, HBoot 1.48.0008. Yup it was SOFF.
I used the Revo method to get Unlocked, SOFF and CWM.
I started out with CDMA roms, not knowing any better, and got my phone stuck in a boot loop.
The only way for me to stop the bootloop was with LeeDroids rom found here on XDA, so maybe try downloading that and flashing it. I downloaded every GSM Rom listed, but only Leedroid for me would do anything. The rest just hung up on the HTC logo.
Then I realised that Leedroids rom was also hanging on the HTC logo after Initial boot so i wanted to just get back to stock. I downloaded the listed Rogers Ruu also from XDA. Flashed into Leedroids rom on initial boot, ran the Rogers Ruu......only to have it fail on the update.....did a few cycles of the built in recovery option in the Ruu to no avail. I would always end up and the screen with around 11 checks all ok, but under system in would be failed. There was some message about and extraction error, and this Ruu wasnt compatible with my phone do download and try a new one.
Now my phone was stuck at the HTC logo screen with the 4 !!!! in the corners, unplugging the usb brought up the Hboot screen, which now said ****Locked**** and SOFF still.
I did a few more trys at the RUU, after redownloading multiple copys from different sources, same results, even tried to get the revo tool to pick up my phone during one of the flashes but it couldnt detect it.
At this point i called rogers.....asked about getting a replacment they said come in but i knew once they saw SOFF they wouldnt go for it.
The extraction failing on the RUU was what got me thinking that maybe by some chance there wasnt enough room on the SD card to complete the update? Which didnt make sense cause i had over 2g free space. Just for the hell of it, i popped out the SD, put it in my laptop, did a basic quick reformat of it.....then put in back in my phone.
The plan was to try the Ruu one last time but as soon as i hit the power button my phone started with a normal HTC logo, with no !!!!....followed by the rogers splash screen and right into the set up of the phone. Everything was back like the very 1st day i had it, even had the spiderman game. Not sure exactly why it worked, but maybe if you try something similar you can get yours back as well, hope this helps a bit.

This same thing happened to me a couple of nights ago. All you have to do is flash a rom to the phone that is stuck on that screen. Put the rom on your phone memory and not the sd card in order to fix this problem and flash the rom. Tell me if this doesn't work.
i have no rom i am stuck on boot loader and unrooted so flash the rooted rom?
i can not get any ruu to do any thing
and i can get my pc to see any drives at all from the phone no storage
Unlock and flash stock Rom. Why did you relock it?
sent from my EVO LTE
how can i unlock it threw adb because i dont know how on adb and htcdev unlock is what i used and it is not working
alittle better
ok i got out of boot loader . i had to re-root using htc dev get token the hard way the adb
and regain root. so now if i re-lock can i flash the ruu but i don't have to unroot?
last time i un rooted threw super user
still not working
Ok i have rom stock with goodies 1.5 . if i lock my bootloader it stays stuck in the bootloader screen i can go to hboot and fast boot. i want to go back to stock. I tried to do the ruu but it shows up as a white paper file. and window will not directed it. I really need help i have 10 hrs to take it back to sprint because my wifi has a problem
Can't run RUU
I really hope someone can help me... I am running CM10 but since yesterday after a couple hours of use, the radios barely get any signal if at all (there's a tower just down the street from me). Turns out now I can't flash a sense ROM nor can I run the RUU because whenever I relock the bootloader it goes into a reboot loop back into it.
Anyone have any ideas? After all this, I'd like to just go back to the stock ROM and wait for HTC/Sprint to officially release JB for my EVO LTE.
Thanks guys!
Did you figure this out?

[Q] Hardware failure? Unable to RUU.

Hello all, I need some help if there are any ideas what could be going on with this phone. I can usually fix my own phone problems, but this one has stumped me...
I bought a rezound dirt cheap that was stuck on the white HTC screen and would not boot into the stock rom. At the time I bought it, it was s-on and I could get in the HBOOT and run fastboot commands.
Since buying it, I have tried many things to get this thing working. I've tried to RUU (with PH98IMG and .exe) and apparently after it completes it is once again in a boot loop on the white HTC screen. I have been able to unlock and flash a custom recovery onto it (amon-ra) and install any cm/aokp rom onto it and boot into that. The only issue with that is when in the rom, my wifi and bluetooth will not connect at all. It wont even toggle on in settings and it is not greyed out. 4G and everything else seems to work ok.
At this time, I'm thinking there is some kind of hardware failure but I'm open to suggestions.
In summary...
I have been able to s-off
I have tried different firmware combos of HBOOTs/radios
I have flashed custom recoveries and roms and can boot into them without wifi or bluetooth
I have been unsuccessful to RUU to anything stock, it'll just boot loop the white HTC screen
Right now, I have installed Tron 2.1 onto it. I did notice post:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2272781&highlight=no+wifi
When I go into system/lib, there was no /modules folder. I went ahead and created it and put in bcmdhd.ko and rebooted, but still no go. I'm not sure why the /modules folder was missing, but this reaches the extent of my knowledge on what is supposed to be there.
I believe I have tried everything and done fairly thorough searches to get this phone working properly and am at a loss what to do next. If anybody has a thought of something to try, I'm all for it. Fortunately if this phone doesnt work out, its not a big deal to me.
I don't want this to sound like another "stuck on HTC screen" thread. I have been through all those and this doesn't seem like the same problem.
Your help is greatly appreciated!

i would like you to do the following.
flash this http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...ull-ruu-build-4-03-605-2-for-the-htc-rezound/
2 times. it will make sure we have a solid base to work on.
after that has ran 2 times. boot into the stock rom one time.
after that flash this https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/12405441/new.global.firm.PH98IMG.zip
once this is done let it boot into the rom.
from here you should be good to flash any rom that is out there to date. (note please dont restore any system data, only app data)
ALSO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE 100% battery. doing an ruu can brick the phone if its interrupted.
report back when done
Thanks for replying. I have flashed that RUU several times in a row in the past, but I'm redownloading it now to make sure my copy isnt corrupt. Earlier experience when I double flashed this it still remained a white HTC screen loop.
Currently estimated at 6hrs to download, so I wont be able to reply for a bit with my findings...

When the Rezound first came out a bunch of people had boot loop problems because the phone was set to wcdma or some such thing instead of cdma. I'm just a noob hack but that's my memory of it. The cure was to boot without the back cover on which contains the antenna and then change the setting.
Ok, I have re downloaded the AndroidPolice RUU and flashed twice, but was not able to boot into it no matter how long I waited (20 min+). It would just loop the HTC white screen. I then went ahead and flashed your global update firmware and have the same result after waiting (20 min+), it just loops the HTC white screen.
I have tried this process several times last night, but still no progress.

S/he ran the RUU so they are stock.
Sounds like the symptoms of a kernel issue. Try pulling the boot.img from this stock OTA ROM and flashing it.

fastboot flash boot boot.img
I have the exact same you. Been this way for months. Maybe once a month BT/Wifi will turn on but only for a few hours maybe. Phone will reboot itself and come back up with the 2 broken again.

Well I finally booted into stock sense after flashing that boot.img which is a big step from before. For a brief moment, it saw wifi networks in my office but when I went to connect to one, wifi died and it no longer sees any wifi network. Bluetooth appears to still be an issue as well, i.e. will not turn on.

can you explain what you mean by flash the ruu twice once I have saved it to the root of my sd card? Does that just mean get to the bootloader, watch as it reads the the ph98img file and let it do that twice, or do I need to reboot in between, or do I need to put in a command?

when you let hboot flash the zip, the first time is super short. it updates hboot, stock recovery, and splash i think. then it will reboot back to bootloader and ask to be flashed again. this time it will take some time to update because it does the whole system.

something doesnt seem right. the RUU would have flashed the boot.img for you. can you link me to the downloaded ruu that you have? also before you run the ruu did you do fastboot oem lock the bootloader?
Edit:
i remember an old trick from the inc days. after the RUU boot back into hboot and do a "factory reset" then boot into the phone. it use to fix the radio errors somewhere getting after a RUU. no clue why we did it. it just worked. try that when you are on stock recovery locked bootloader
Here is the RUU I have re downloaded. It was also the original I used in the past on my other Rezound
https://www.dropbox.com/s/1570h8l0ba1u7qp/rezound_AndroidPolice_4.03.605.2_PH98IMG.zip
I have also tried the RUU 3.14.605.12.exe and a couple other different RUU versions, but have the same issue with that as well. Even on MicroMod777's OTA-Global-Stock-4.05.605.14 710RD-Rooted 5/1/13 flashed through amon-ra, I get the bootloop. I have done these as locked and unlocked bootloader with no difference. I have also tried the factory reset with locked bootloader.... no go with that either.
I was only able to finally boot in to stock by fastboot flashing the boot.img, and that is where this phone sits now. My major issue at this point is I dont have wifi or bluetooth and have dug through numerous posts and tried different things, and nothing is working on it. What was strange as I said in my previous post, the very first time I was able to boot into stock sense by flashing the boot.img, it briefly saw wifi networks but disappeared and disabled as soon as I tried to connect to one. I have not been able to replicate that since then.
On a sidenote and possibly related, since this phone has been sitting at my desk I decided to try and flash Newt's NOS JB v1.0.0 ROM and it bootloops also at the droid eye screen. I never was able to get it going on this phone. My other rezound boots this just fine.
I think I have reached the limits of my android knowledge of what to try on this thing. I am satisfied with it not having wifi/bluetooth since my wife wont be using those features. I would like to understand what the heck is going on though.

Screen Replacement - Phone won't boot

Replaced the screen on my Rezound and now I cannot get past the HTC white splash screen.
I can get in to BOOTLOADER and I found the VIGOR image on the SDCARD. It attempts to install but still can't get past the HTC splash screen.
Any help would be appreciative.
Is your phone rooted/unlocked? Can you get into fastboot or recovery? What ROM were you running?

I was running CleanROM Standard. S-ON, with root. If I go in to RECOVERY the screen hits the HTC Flash then goes blank.
Thanks for the quick reply, hope to get back up and running soon.
Something is definitely messed up, so you can't even get into recovery?
Sounds like you lost your flash somehow. Can you "fastboot boot recovery.img" of TWRP or Amon Ra (I assume you were using AR since you were on CleanROM), and browse the partitions and see if the files are there? My best guess is you are gonna have to start clean, flash recovery, flash rom, fastboot flash boot boot.img, and see what happens. If that fails I would look at flashing the corresponding RUU to your Hboot version.
Ok.. I will give it a try. I have the Rezound All-In-One Toolkit, so I should be able to do this without any issues.
If I am wrong in my assumption, please let me know.

Ok.. This is what happened.. I removed my SDCARD and loaded BOOTLOADER. I went in to FASTBOOT and ran Hasoon's All In One kit for the Rezound and flashed recovery. I attempted to go in to RECOVERY and I get a blank screen. What I did notice is the loading bar on the right side of the screen never showed it was loading anything. The phone went to black screen, then nothing.
Until I can get in to RECOVERY, I can't load a ROM.
I even went to the command prompt and attempted to run it there, with no luck.
Update: OK.. I thought I would start over with the All In One tool. Seems my token key had changed. I got a new TokenID file from HTC and unlocked the bootloader (even though it was already unlocked) and ran the recovery. But I still get the same issue when entering in to recovery...
FML..
Skip the all in one tool kit... it's nice but you need to do this manually. Use the Fastboot commands to BOOT recovery manually, not flash it.
fastboot boot recovery.img (or whatever the name of the recovery image file is)

Manually attempted everything.. Lock, Unlock, fastboot boot, fastboot flash recovery, and nada..

I replaced my screen and had EXACTLY the same problem. My phone was fine for a couple of days and then this problem started. I have tried fastboot, loading zips from the ext card, everything you have tried except Hasoon's AIO. Nothing worked. I am also S-on & rooted. I was running Infection 8.2.1 and TWERP 2.6.3.0. I haven't flashed anything in many weeks. I didn't install any new apps. When I boot I get the htc flash screen for a few seconds and then a black screen.

So you are in the same boat as I.. Nothing has worked..
I bought a used phone from Craigslist and have it running now.. I will be installing a ROM soon and then claiming insurance on the busted phone and pay the extortion fee to get another one.. I will end up with two Rezounds (I love this phone) and rooting them both and either have one for a backup or sell it to a friend for pennies on the dollar (what are friends for?)..
Otherwise I now consider it dead.. I will trash this phone to insure my insurance company can't start it to see that it has been rooted. Screw them..
Best of luck on your phone, but I have spent too much time on this one.. Better luck next time for us both..

I think i bricked my one please help

Hey xda. I think I ****ed my htc one tonight. I was working on converting it to a developer edition and I made it as far as the RUU with success. Then when I went to apply the RUU it failed and now my phone is stuck on the htc logo with a triangle and exclamation point in each corner. Now the RUU doesnt recognize it, Fastboot doesnt recognize it and my computer doesnt recognize it. what can I do? Also my Cid is now the Google Play edition Cid because i was gonna try to use that ruu to fix it. now i cant change my cid or do anything to the device. HELP
Any info to help my issue would be great...
I'm not really qualified to help since I'm a nub, but where exactly is it stuck? On the boot logo?
Well its all better now. Att replaced it in no time. They couldnt figure out what the hell was up with it lol
No, it wasn't bricked. Next time, hold down the power button until it restarts, if it gets stuck in a loop, hold down the power and vol down, boot into bootloader, and then select reboot, it then will restart with whatever version you had on the phone.
When you flashed the RUU you have to to do it twice i believe. First time sets the hboot and the second time sets the whole system. If you only did it once then i'm guessing you would have created this situation on the phone. Keep that in mind if you ever go to flash a firmware package.

Not true. If all is well, RUU goes smoothly. He set the CID for a GPE and not another version. This can't just happen. If it was set at GOOGL001, then the Brightstar RUU will not work. It will work on 11111111. I have tried and it fails. Also, if you have converted to a GPE, you are not going back with a RUU, you need to sideload the .zip. For me, just not happening from GPE back to Brightstar RUU, fails no matter what, that's where I figured sideloading, or loading CWM recovery over GPE and flashing a new ROM over that will work. Also, AFAIK, there is no such thing as a GPE RUU, would be amazing if there was though.
