Thanks, I have tries this one before. I push to system/app and fix permissions, but it won't change. I have deleted the old mms.apk and it never changes. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Try this guys
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/27219566/Mms.apk
Trainrider try putting a COPY in data\app as well as system\app
Not working for me, I put in both places and fixed permissions. Anyone else have differant results>?
so whats the problem? is it giving you a force close or error when you open it? Or it's not showing up in apps at all?

hmm, when you copied to folders did it ask to replace existing? I pulled that out of Gassadena I think, standby I'll post Glasstopia, see if that works
I tried ones from both Glassadena and Glasstopia. I am overwriting the old and have tried both of these twice. Last shot - I wiped Dalvik to see if that would make a differance. I also used root explorer and searched for all instances of MMS on my phone and didnt find anything hiding anywhere else Damn this MMS it is hard to work with!
Yeah i don't know what to tell you, never had that much trouble. This might eork might not, go into glassadena or glasstopia zip and see if there is a copy in data and one in system, if so maybe move both to your corresponding folder? long shot but at least then you'll know if you need a copy in both, because if it has one in both then you know you do too
I gave it a try last night and flashed rc4 over my rc1 (full wiping of course) when it booted it seemed real smooth but had rather large icons, assuming that's how its supposed to be. I than flashed enable 213 that I downloaded before (not sure if I could have done that) after it booted my icons where twice the size, status bar was huge and keyboard was crazy wacky. Ive read that most if not all of these issues can be fixed with changing the dpi settings. Can anyone take a few minutes and give me a hand setting it up, not sure how to edit apps and such. I basically would like my phone looking like how it does on rc1 running at 213 but would like a few apps to be adjusted to a higher level (reading purposes) thanks.

I guess I just need to know how to adjust app and system dpi. I think I can do it in root explore data/app and change the name...not sure if that's right.

please please please read through the OP of The Hybrid rom thread, it explains what you need to change, and how to change it.
it all comes down to editing the build.props and the hyb.props in your system folder.

I've read it several times...I guess I just don't get it and when you don't really get it I guess the best thing is to walk away. I guess its not as easy as finding an app you want to change and rename it in the correct format with the dpi you want

Hi after I have installed several apps , played with the input and phone languages, installed a new keyboard, and ultimatelly received this "unfortunately the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped" error the effects when I click on an icon on the screen are gone, the wavy effect is just not there and I have searched the whole phone for solution.
R: [Q] No effects when clicking on a desktop icon
The several apps right there might be a problem...or the rom is buggy (many are).
So tell us what rom it is, what android v, what apps youve installed that required root access.and if youve modded.any futher the rom or enabled mods already within the rom.

wavy effect? Are you talking about the ripple effect live wallpaper?

No man its the wavy effect from stock rom, in the screens, the one you get with default apps and touchwiz....

yes, and it's due to the ripple effect LWP

The rom is the standard one that I reckon comes with the phone.
I haven't had modified anything apart from installing apps and updates.
The phone is not rooted in any way. Nor have I modded or inserted into the rom.
I have updated to jelly beans. And the latest applications I have installed are koffice, swift key, poker stars, and I am quite sure I have been changing settings but nothing visual.

Cool, and how do I put it back on, please?
Moreover, I now noticed all my contacts names are deleted and haven't ot a clue which number is which. What's up with this phone ??!#*!

Are all those from Google Play ???
I would try a factory reset .

Some of them are, but some I have downloaded in a different way if you know what I mean. Hopefully I haven't caught a virus or something like that. Now, a factory reset will erase all my data right? And what else?

A factory reset is better than resetting a factory i guess....
Factory reset really seems best.
Just make a backup of your apps (use titanium backup) and then restore them
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
that's interesting, because as far as I know, the ripple effect on the desktop (not the lockscreen) is not included in the stock ROM. are you sure you're not talking about the lock screen? you can enable the ripple effect by going to Settings - lock screen
Yeh I am sure. I'm sure that it was there for some time after I have updated the os. Then again I have installed a great deal of software which I think had made my wavy effect disappear?!
And can I do a backup of the apps with no root access I don't think it's a good idea to play an expert and damage the phone beyond repair. Thanks!

Aye, what do I have to do? If you just give me a link to the most current method used, please.
The phone is gt-i9300 international. Thanks!
read the basics
I realise that. But there's a lot of people who suggested all sorts of different ways doing the same thing. All in all if you flash the rom solely don't it enables root privileges in a more effective fashion..? Thanks!

The most effective fashion is the most complete one, not how you do it.
If youre speaking of flashing through odin modified parts of the rom so you can gain root access..then yes thats what i did (just look it up on youtube, make sure you write galaxy s3 international (if international version) and android version of your rom).
If youre speaking of flashing a custom rom which comes with root access already unlocked, you need to have root for that.
Its easy you can find it on google or youtube. Best method for now (or perfectly working one used by the most people) is flashing some stuff through a programm for pc (or mac i think, but im not sure) called odin. Then i advise (once you have root) you boot into the phone and install from the play store rom manager. Thru this app you may install a new recovery (basically safe-partition of disc, think of it as a bios or firmware for a pc. What u need it for is to save ur ass if u f***k up your phone, or to make COMPLETE backup images of your device so that you may restore them later on. It can also be used to flash other recoveries and therefore replace itself, or flash other roms or kernels. Its a MUST HAVE for anybody with root)

use any method, it does not matter at all.
but rooting will not get your ripple effect back. If you said that you had it before you installed something, then factory reset
Thanks!

Hey chaps. As the title suggests, I would really like to get rid of the small apps area in the notification bar. I know I could root and install a custom ROM, but I'm trying to see if I can stay with stock for a while. Any thoughts?

Unfortunately, there really is no way to remove this without modifying the framework.

When I got the XTZ I was hoping that replacing the stock launcher with Nova would do the trick. But unfortunately it did not. Perhaps there are other launchers that can help out?
This izs not something that can be done by replacing the launcher. This is a framework feature and would require modification of the framework via decompiling the apk. This isn't something easily done. If you dont want this, you will have to flash a custom Rom for the time being.

I'm not entirely sure this is the best place to ask, but could someone give me the Stock 4.1.2 LGSettings3_1.apk/.odex files from /system/app
Thanks in advance
Do I dare ask why? Also do u need the settings provider apk n the easy settings apk?
Sent from my LG-E970 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
If you want to send those too, that'd be great.
And its because after I cleared my cache (I flashed a boot animation) the EasySettings won't open. However, now I can't even open the regular settings
I guess if you have any other suggestions (short of wiping) then I'm looking for that too.
