Hi i've searched this board and i cannot find anything related to the Huawei Ascend G630.
Are there any methods to root and/or put a custom rom on it? The onder huawei phones used BootLoader unlock code.
Perhaps this method and/or other huawei roms (P6, G6, G610 etc..) would work on G630?
There is not many information regarding rooting or flashing this phone on the internet, so if someone has suggestions im all ears!
June 15th, 2014; Phone has been rooted successfully with vROOT.

Haha! Thank you for your information but i have already root my phone a few weeks back with vRoot. (Sorry for giving miss information due to lack of editing post and removing "root" from thread header, not sure if i'm even able to moderate that)
I had no clue if it would've worked out since very little to no "after-market" information is available for this phone, but it worked flawlessly on own risk.
Huawei doesn't have G630 support for it's bootloader unlocking service, and that's where the basics flashing starts, unlocking with the dc-tool didn't work as well.
Guess i'll have to wait for a developer who owns this phone, to port TPRM / CWM Recovery and (other) Huawei Roms, or build one specifically for this phone. (If one wants to put time and efforts in it that is), and find a way unlock the bootloader.
No success on MoDaCo, XDA, AndroidForums, NeedRom.com etc, for anything related to G630.
Apparently this phone isn't as populair as the P6, G6, G510, G610 were, but i'll wait, i just can't stand Huawei's bloatware and limited customization options implented in their android builds.
FYI: Seems that the Themes app doesn't work any more after applying root, so you'll stick with the installed theme/unlocker.
after receiving the code from Huawei I unlocked the bootloader and root performed using the "root genius," everything OK

You can only root it, if you unlock your phone's bootloader. To do this, send az e-mail to [email protected], with subject "unlocking bootloader G630". Send them your IMEI, then your phone's version (for example G630-U00, G630-U10, G630-U20 etc), and your S/N (serial). And you have to accept to void the warranty in the e-mail.
If your phone is SIM locked, then there's a chance you can't unlock your bootloader due to operator restrictions.
Unlocking bootloader will void your warranty.
You will get an e-mail from Huawei with a code, use it in fastboot mode, to unlock the bootloader, then install TWRP recovery, and root your phone.

Unlocked bootloader is a condition to install a Custom Recovery, or a Custom ROM to your phone, and with one of these you can gain root acces.
You can do force upgrade methods to gain root acces with your locked(!) bootloader phone, but these processes usually cause problems around rooting procedure, or sometimes working or not working or missing SU binaries, etc.

Set the device into fastboot mode, install fastboot drivers, and open CMD (in the path where fastboot.exe is found):
fastboot devices ---> it shows a device name, if the fastboot drivers are correctly installed (like fmgllglmym fastboot device)
If it's OK, then:
fastboot oem unlock XYZ (replace XYZ with the CODE you get from Huawei)
THEN:
fastboot reboot

Hi,

We need E3 developers to worship
Same here, as the Acer Liquid E3 (Duo)(E380) will be rolled out the next months, and will be a nice competitor for the Moto G etc!
Some people, like the topic starter and me, will receive it in 2 weeks I guess.
Would be great if we can root it, and of course custom ROMs will be GREATLY appreciated!
It will come with 4.2.2 but an update to 4.4 will be available in the next months. Source code will be available on the Acer site, shortly after release!
(This dual SIM phone is running on a Mediatek MT6589 (Quad core 1.2GHz Cortex A7) and PowerVR SGX544)
I'm also interested in rooting the E3 ! I will receive it from Amazon in the following days.
Have you received it yet ?
Do you now the ETA for the 4.4 rom from Acer ?

Acer officialy stated that "the update for the E3 from 4.2.2 to 4.4 will be available later this year". A lot of other sites tell us 'in the near future' or even 'Q2 2014' and a lot of 'definitely before the end of this year'.
Good news though! The official support page for the Acer Liquid E3 (E380) is online NOW (look for Model/Type E380! Be ware that different countries/regions HAVE different/more files!
You can find the current E380 (Jelly Bean) Kernel Sources v20140307 there!!! :good::good::good:
Second file is the USB Driver v1.0 :good:
Last files are the different (Dual/Single, EUR-band/US-band) manuals, only to find on the American site of Acer!
The manual states there is/will be a 1GB and 2GB RAM, and a 4GB and 16GB ROM version!? Also a version with NFC. All depends on the SKU.

Found it! Standard method, recently (march 2014) updated, and seems to work on all phones with the MediaTek MT6589 chipset!
The Acer Liquid E2 (same chipset) was also succesful! It is very simple, and similar to the method I posted before (for Acer Liquid Gallant):
http://www.gleescape.com/posts/2376
Needed USB drivers can be found there, but our official E3 ones are to be found in my post above (Acer Support site)!
---------- Post added at 12:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:38 PM ----------
The Acer Liquid E3 (Duo) E380 and the E2 (Duo) V370 seem to be almost exactly the same, which is in our favour!
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=6116&idPhone2=5418
(the E3 has a better cam and a bigger screen, thats about it)
Probably a lot of root methods, custom ROMs and recovery (CWM) will be usable for us, or at least simple to modify!
Big E2-topic:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2381298
(with some custom E2 ROMs, like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2505572 )
E2 Root methods:

E2 Recovery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47450764#post47450764
Etc etc (just search XDA (or Google) for E2 and v370 with root or recovery or custom)

So you tried these three sploits for the E2 / MT6589?
What was the feedback with Framaroot (see Usage part in that post)?
And which version of the APK you used? 1.9.1?
Tried the Boromir option, this seems to be the one for the E2?
And tried the universal MT6589_Rooter / mt6589_rooting_pkg method (which seems to be succesful almost on all MT6589 phones), as mentioned on i.e. Gleescape (updated march 2014)?
And used PDAnet or universal MT USB drivers, or even better (I think) the brand new official USB drivers from Acer? And SURE your phone was in USB Debugging mode while rooting (via Developer Options)???
Last thing is that I see some people using SP Flash Tool to flash/root MT6589 phones...

Should I try Kingo ? I have mixed (not to say suspicious) feelings about this program...
Thanks man, you're the best, but this is BAD news! :crying:
Can you post all info of your device (Duo or Single (SIM) / SKU, and all OS-info (Settings > About Phone, like build, model, android, kernel, band/radio etc))?
Maybe make a signature of it (like me), thats always helpful.
Where did you get yours by the way? (I will receive a E380 Duo, bought at iBood in the Netherlands (EUR version, 1GB/4GB, no NFC)).

No clue about those kind of apps. It looks like for instance OneClickRoot. All downloadable at CNet and look commercial but seem free
You can try it, but it may contain adware, or you may have to pay or so Mixed feelings here too, and a lot of suspicion on the net (sending IMEI, trojans etc).
After reading a lot, I still have main hope on the MT6589_rooter = MT6589_rooting_pkg = motochopper, by @djrbliss (Dan Rosenberg) which unlocks A LOT (almost all) of MediaTek clones! Maybe look for newer/different versions of it?
Edit: I found out almost ALL sites have the initial version 1.0 online, but Dan's own server hosts version 1.1 !!! Try it please?
By the way, we are impatient, and should wait for Android 4.4 (in the next months) on our ALE3, and we need THOSE sources for an up to date root, custom ROM and CWM recovery!
Yes bad news, 4.2.2 has solved exploits I think...
I have attached the infos, it's a dual sim (DUO), 4GB/1GB, no NFC, EUR version.
ref: HM.HDZEF.001
I got mine from Amazon France.
EDIT: okay, maybe I will try Kingo in a VM or with blocking some connections...
I'm investigating other version of the MT6589 rooter
EDIT 2: failure with motochopper 1.1 too
Do you know Eroot 1.3.4 ?

Sick! Sure!? And after reboot?
I was also checking a new/universal used method for MediaTek / MT, with the mentioned SP Flash Tool / Smart Phone Flash Tool (v3.xxxx.xx)(for MT65xx) or the very similar MTK Flash Tool (v5.xxxx.xx)(for MT62xx), as can be found everywhere, but originates from: mtk2000.ucoz.ru
New version SP Flash Tool 3.1408.00 is out now!
A tutorial with pics can be found everywhere, like here on XDA!
They use a so called "scatter" file to root/download ROM/upload (custom) ROM or recovery. In this file a datamapping of your specific phone model is included. Download the file or even better, make your own specific one, with for instance a tool called MTK Droid Root & Tools (version 2.5.3 now).
Now rooting is 'done' (prefer a more open method, done by 'ourselves'!), we should have developers, like SC0RPION who did the custom ROMs for the E2, to do/mod a new 4.2.2 and 4.4 ROM for our E3! Source of 4.2.2 is available (link in sig) and 4.4 will be soon! And CWM Recovery for our E3 would be great too! If I'm correct we (you) can do that already, by extracting the stock recovery.img (with MTK Droid or Mobile Uncle etc) and uploading it to the CWM Builder Site and than flashing our new custom made CWM to the phone (like here, here, here and here)?
Camera problem
Wow, I was in the middle of writing a very lenghty post on how my backwards facing camera was not working on this phone (specifically, focus did not work), and the many solutions I had already tried to fix it with. Somehow I got it to work while writing the post.
The solution:
Drag the "Camera" app to the homescreen, into "App info". This will for some reason bring you to the "Gallery" app information. Press force stop, Clear data.
Now what actually fixed the camera was pressing "Clear defaults" under "Launch by default".
I hope this can help people who are experiencing this problem!
p.s. I got it from IBOOD, Netherlands, 4 Gb sd, 1 Gb ram
Closing post
Thanks a lot for d3ennisd to start this topic, but let's go on in this brand new Big Official "Hackwerk's ALE3 topic"!

Hi, I need help. My girlfriend bought a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 32GB / 3GB RAM Mediatek Helio X10 version.
I want to upgrade the firmware because it needs an upgrade. Since she bought it, February, it didn't updated one single time, and it has some bugs that upset her. So, here is the problem.
I already asked for permission from Xiaomi to unlock the bootloader, and already got it. When I tried to unlock, got the 50% problem (Current account is different from the account info on the device). Since then, tried to flash (from the Updater App) the developer ROM, also with no success (couldn't verify package).
The last option, I believe I have, is to manually flash (using MI FLASH software) the developer ROM and after that, unlock the bootloader to finally install the MIUI 8.0 (that's the goal of all this, with the unlocked bootloader).
So, how can I do this? Suggestions, tips, tutorials, guides or experiences, everything is welcome!
You have to go to latest Beta/developer Version and the Unlock should work...
Else just Update miui, because maybe the Bugs are fixed

I already solved it by 'hard flashing" the miUI 8... because that's the version she wanted. Didn't try to flash the miUI 6 [developer] because I was lazy, but mainly because I didn't see any gains for her from doing it [unlocking the bootloader].
Thank you 2 for the replies!

What are the chances that this device will get TWRP and Root?
Not that I know... But this seems to be the best android tablet around now considering the price. Furthermore, its born with Android 8, which means it will be treple enabled thus the adaption of vanilla Android or others should be easier. Likewise, this should also improve security patches. I hope that someone will bring it.
Any progress of Rooting the HUAWEI MediaPad M5?
I want to buy it cuz my old Pixel C is sadly broken, but I wanna wait till it gots Root and Custom ROM:
@Marcopoloy13 I am in a similar situation as I would like to retire my old Nexus 7 (2012) and I am quite optimistic that TWRP will be available quite soon, as there is a device tree for the Honor 9 available and the Mediapad M5 sports the same SoC ...
As I am receiving my Huawei Mediapad M5 PRO next week, I wanted to look for root ... Is Huawei known to make a fuzz about root in case of sending it in for repairs etc. (I have a Samsung-past, friends of mine had issues with their support due to root ... ) ?
I am very new to Rooting, i just want to get linux deploy on this tab to install Debian. I have unlocked the bootloader the rooting is very hard.... i have no clue to what i am doing and was following the guide on this awesome forum but the imaging and so forth is not somthing i understand.
i have the CMR-w09 (non pro)
Unlock the bootloader?
How did you unlock the bootloader? I tried the “Huawei unlocking page" mentioned at Kingoapps website, but it didn't find anything about unlocking or bootloaders.

For any WIFI only device, contact Huwaei via Phone (they rarely answer mails, so dont write one), explain the problem using their site (WIFI only device, therefore no IMEI etc), provide them your tablets serial number and let them send the unlock code via mail to you. Takes usually two business days until you have the unlock code.
Looking for a proven way to unlock the bootloader of this phone. I've read somewhere that DC Unlocker works but I was talking with their chat support just a while ago and they said it's not possible / they don't support it.
Hope anyone can help. This phone's storage is a pain the rear and I would like root / install custom ROMs on this.

Hello ,
I Root some of my Xiaomi more or less knowing the procedures.
I may purchase REALME 7 Pro & if the very first step unlock bootloader using Indepth test apk., can use on this model ? not necessary a must match version of Indepth text apk ?
also, is Readme OS accept Magisk root by patching the boot.img without using TWRP ?
( similar procedures as ROOTING on Xiaomi devices ...taking out boot.img from formware ....using Magisk to patch image...... flash it back & forth between devices & computer...without using TWRP. )
Thank you very much.

Hey I wouldn't suggest rooting or unlocking bootloader even if it is simple as ABC because this device is going to get updates for sure so it wouldn't be wise yet.

You get the point !!
Unfortunately , I M-U-S-T root this as I'm required to use TASKER heavily due to my work ( and my own interest in tasker )
On Xiaomi devices they are an easy life since I've been following every firmware updates , then I download separately this firmware on my desktop, root this back by MAGISK_PATCH_BOOT.img ( sort of like you know what I mean )
There is no need no hassle to make Xiaomi root again after the firmware updates. Most importantly Xiaomi not require to re-install all apps by using above methods after firmware updates.
I hope this realme 7 pro using the same procedures. ( I just have made the purchase from India to DHL me at USD375.00 )
Thanks!

Realme 7 pro, will get official bootloader unlock tool and official kernel sources available(hopefully) in the coming, so no need to take risk just wait for it, realme is a tech enthusiast brand so I guess they won't disappoint

If you are really impatient you can try to gain temporary root and extract the boot.img using any app or ADB commands even magisk root via ADB is possible afaik I myself am waiting for the kernel and bootloader unlock but I feel this phone was launched in an early state to compete against Xiaomi phones in the same price range. Now unfortunately for us consumers this means till Android 11 update kernel sources might not be public but most probably after that it might be possible and if you use root for YouTube vanced and stuff I think there is a non root method but it's very irritating.

Thank you !!
I use TASKER and you now know which is why I need to damn deeptest.apk
temporary root is somewhat a good idea however is not fit in my case since my realme 7 pro bought over e-bay India so that anything brick I seems have big trouble sending back & forth for repair.
It is still good hints about temporary root as I never heard of ................
Hope I'm not soon to say goodbye & sell it due to long time waiting and without root. ., it happened on me once on the Vivo 19 that I sold it when I confirm it definately not root-friendly.
Thank you very much !!!!

Any update on unlocking bootloader ?
I have already unlocked the bootloader. But we will have to wait till kernel source code is released for custom recovery and rooting.
