Hi, I need help. My girlfriend bought a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 32GB / 3GB RAM Mediatek Helio X10 version.
I want to upgrade the firmware because it needs an upgrade. Since she bought it, February, it didn't updated one single time, and it has some bugs that upset her. So, here is the problem.
I already asked for permission from Xiaomi to unlock the bootloader, and already got it. When I tried to unlock, got the 50% problem (Current account is different from the account info on the device). Since then, tried to flash (from the Updater App) the developer ROM, also with no success (couldn't verify package).
The last option, I believe I have, is to manually flash (using MI FLASH software) the developer ROM and after that, unlock the bootloader to finally install the MIUI 8.0 (that's the goal of all this, with the unlocked bootloader).
So, how can I do this? Suggestions, tips, tutorials, guides or experiences, everything is welcome!
You have to go to latest Beta/developer Version and the Unlock should work...
Else just Update miui, because maybe the Bugs are fixed

To unlock the bootloader, you must have the MIUI developer installed on the device

I already solved it by 'hard flashing" the miUI 8... because that's the version she wanted. Didn't try to flash the miUI 6 [developer] because I was lazy, but mainly because I didn't see any gains for her from doing it [unlocking the bootloader].
Thank you 2 for the replies!
Hi Guys,
I've been searching for 2 days now for a clear guide on how to unlock the bootloader for the Mediatek version and haven't found anything other than the official way. Can someone point me in the right direction please?
Thanks.

Hi all!
I live in Germany and would like to buy a RN3 pro from Aliexpress. I don't want to stick around with MIUI but would like to try out different CM-based ROMs. The community here seems very alive, but I am confused by certain things. So I hope you can help me :highfive:
1) Some months ago, I followed the news about the Mi4c. People were complaining that Xiaomi won't let them unlock their phones. Are there no such problems with the RN3 pro?
2) Concerning the official firmware: I read that the phones come either with a Chinese or international firmware (or sometimes even bloated by retailers), and each has a hundred of version numbers. Are all versions possible to unlock? Or do I need a particular version to be able to root/unlock bootloader/flash a custom ROM?
3) Are there any differences between the 2/16 gig and the 3/32 gig version of the RN3pro apart from RAM/storage?
4) Is Xposed working fine on CM-based ROMs?
Best regards
1. I spent around a month to get it officially unlocked, till then I unlocked unofficially in few mins. But if you unofficially unlock whenever you flash a rom you must be more conscious and read every step that's given by Developer or else you will end up bricking your device(don't worry there are solutions for very bricking scenario) . So if this is not a concern you can buy
2. Whatever the firmware phone may come with you can flash MIUI global firmware and unlock it from there.
3. Nope not that I know of.
4. Yes it's working.
Welcome to the community.

1)as an unlock reason I pasted some chineese text found in the Internet and after 1 week I got my unlock code. So no problem there
2)Developer rom is recommended for that, but I think that the never versions of stable build also support unlocking. Anyway, it's easy to install developer rom with locked bootloader
3)nope
4)yep

1) If the phone is updated to the latest firmware (7.3.2 at the time of writting) then the bootloader unlocking process time will depend on how long it takes them to approve the permission for you (got my phone on Tuesday and unlocked it today).
2)Yes all are eligible, but you have to be on the latest one. Likely you will get with an outdated Chinese rom and will have to update via MIUI updater (or similar name of the official software). I also suggest looking for the phone from else where, like here in the EU (think ebay.ie had some cheap ones), since i had to pay an extra 50eur for taxes and expenses (am from Lithuania).
3) No idea, likely none. I got the 3gb version because it's more future proof and can upload 2 videos at the same time vie desktop version of facebook. Also the software itself uses about a gig of ram. Plus it's doesn't cost that much more and a gig of ram makes a difference.
4) No idea, wasn't a fan of xpossed before and am not planing to become one.

Yes it works. Make sure to use MIUI Xposed version. Google it.
... sorry but I'm very confused ...
I'm reading the possible on the network, but the result is I always get confused more despite having a certain familiarity in modding having modded a galaxy nexus, and an LG G2 on which I installed TWRP recovery and various CyanogenMod ROMs.
Unlocking the bootloader in kate/SE, in an official or unofficial way, is still very difficult or almost impossible?
I often read of modified TWRP recovery, which sometimes give problems and sometimes it does not ...is it possible just put the official TWRP for kenzo?
If I can somehow install a TWRP, is possible to easily install the CyanogenMod ROM (after flashing ROM flashing kate modem is needed) and provide CM updates simply by flash new ROM via TWRP recovery?
Thks in adv
Nope! It's easy as 123... Please, check:
http://en.miui.com/thread-345728-1-1.html - for unlocked "emmc_appsboot.mbn".
You can also download ALKA TWRP, rename to "recovery.img", and replace it in fastboot ROM (image folder).
(As well as "emmc_appsboot.mbn emmc_appsboot.mbn", downloaded from the link above.)

Thks for yr reply
I read official unlocking was successful for very very few owners and
such unofficial unlocking gave problems to many others, like bootloop etc...
is that wrong...?

I could not unlock my "kate" officially.
I've tried the method posted above, and works like a charm!
No bootloop, at all...
Thaknk yo so much for yr reply
I remain with the feeling of more complexity and less certainty, than the modding of the galaxy nexus and also the LG G2...
Official unlock works fine.
I have a Kate and unlocked it officially.
Just make sure to flash the global developer ROM, log into your MI account on the phone and press the "bind device to account" button inside the security settings menu before attempting to unlock.
I also got my Kate to unlock officially after using updater on phone to flash global beta rom.then in developer options clicked MI unlock status then linked phone to account. After that unlocked first try after many many failed attempts on global stable.
Nice news and info, thks so much!
But... why so many people can't officially unlock their kate having 50pc error...??
Which version of miui unlock tool and Global Dev. ROM you used when officially unlock yr kate?
I used global beta 6.11.24 and MIflash unlock_1.1.1111.1_en
Thks for reply and info
Hello,
I have been trying to install TWRP recovery in my bootloader unlocked xiaomi redmi note 4x phone with china stable ROM non-root device. I have tried multiple methods that I found in this web and somewhere else but unfortunately all failed and unable to install any kinds of recovery. I am also trying to root my device but failed every method I found. One main problem is I don't read chinese at all and my ROM is chinese version. I have been trying to install at least Global ROM so that I would understand english version and probably able to root my phone and ultimately use google play store. None worked so far for me.
I would really appreciate if you can help me resolve any one of my issues stated above.
Thank you very much

The language of chinese rom can be set as english.
Then you can flash chinese dev rom and use a built-in ROOT.
However, without twrp you can not flash gapps because the system part is encrypted, so you must unlock the bootloader and then flash twrp.
unlocker:http://en.miui.com/unlock/ (maybe you need a chinese mi account, I can provide one with you)

Hello glewo45,
It really works. Thank you very much. I had been experiencing "remote: size too large" problem with a lot of methods that I found on xda forum and other reputable forums but was unsuccessful with any method. When I tried cofface method from the link that you mentioned, it was successful on the first attempt. My device is xiaomi redmi note 4x china stable rom. Now I can't wait to flash other custom ROMs . Thanks again glewo45 and cofface

Hey guys I am using redmi 4x I have installed Oreo pixel experience rom in it.... Can any one help me how to root this device in Android Oreo 8.0.
Hail guys, I need help. Recently I bought a Redi Xiomi note 4X in the gearbest, apparently the cell phone came all okay. But the rom that came installed was the Miui 10 Global Beta, and in the announcement the device is with 3GB RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Only in this rom is 1.50GB of RAM, and it is catching too much. I tried to unlock the bootloader, but it appears there 48hrs for the unlock, my doubt is, if I wait that time and redo the unlock process will work? I want to install TWRP, and change the rom. Can someone help me?

im thinking of getting this phone. I loved my p30 pro but the lack of support and no bootloader unlock or root availability sucked. How is xiaomi with this? are they cool with letting you mod the phone with root, custom roms etc?
yes thats no problem an rom support u can get the xiaomi eu rom
wen u have that on u dont need anything else

Because it's far better than anything else.
I'm on xiaomi.eu right now, but looking forward to some AOSP ROMs like Pixel Experience or EvolutionX! Correct me if I'm wrong but now that the global version of the phone is out, I assume we can be expecting these in the coming months? Perhaps directly on Android 11?
Ok, so the phone can be bootloader unlocked and rooted? What about custom ROMs is that possible? I just don't want to spend the money and be stuck on their version of the os in any case I don't like it, just like it happened on emui with the p30 pro

Yes, that's both possible, however we don't know how many devs will buy the phone so there's that... Currently, I own the Mi Mix 2s and custom ROM support is awesome. I hope for something similar with the Mi 10. To unlock the bootloader you need a Xiaomi account, when I got my Mi Mix to years ago you had to apply for unlocking permission with something like "I want to develop stuff" or something, after a few days you would get a text that says permission granted. Afterward you start the mi unlock tool and then you have to wait for something between 3 and 30 days(for most people it was 14 days) until you could finally unlock.

Yeah it used to be like that but now to unlock bootloader you still need a Xiaomi account, but no need to apply for anything. There's a Xiaomi Bootloader Unlock Tool in their website and you can do it through that without needing to apply through their website/ forum. Might still need to wait a week or two after registering the phone to the account tho.
Coming from a P30 Pro, I now own the Mi 10 series & I unlocked both of them.
Waiting time in both cases has been 7 days.
So far I tried Xiaomi.eu ROM, which is based on the chinese ROM.
It's fully translated in several languages & also keeps the good stuff untouched, which you won't find in the official Global ROM.
There are stable builds and developer builds, that are regularly updated.
I also tried MiuiMix, which is based on the Xiaomi.eu ROM and is pre-rooted & tweaked for
more smoothness and better battery life (so they say).
It is either regularly updated.
I also hope for more custom ROMs (I liked Resurrection Remix on my Mate 10 Pro)...
