I saw a small video regarding one of the developers talking about Linaro....will it be used on the S3. Merged in to CM9 builds perhaps when they arrive on the S3...?

i was wondering almost the same thing: will it allow the devs to develop smaller code? as speed is not an issue...
Looks interesting

I want to try to compile it with Linaro but there's some porting to the code to be done, right now it's not working on the newer toolchains.
I thought it was more than just the kernel, like the aosp libs source were modified to be able to be built with Linaro. Then those changes get merged into CM, which can then be built with Linaro, and hopefully we all get to use it

The best of luck Andrei. Really hope you get It to work.
If you do get it working, you will have an immensely popular and cutting edge kernel.

Just read this:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...e-and-now-parts-of-it-are-being-added-to-cm9/
What do you guys think of this and will we see it it on the Rezound?
Read it and I'm in hopes it will be implemented eventually. Would be pretty sweet.

I'm pretty sure it only works on aosp builds so when we start seeing those then we'll probably see this

performance is fine as it is really so I'd take battery conservation over extra performance I don't need
I'm not even going to think about this... Jealousy will take over and who knows when we'll get it.

Cyanogenmod is going to be incorporating this, so hopefully this will come our way once we get cm9. I'd love to show all my iphone using friends how fast Android really is.

Greater performance=more usable phone at low frequencies
Low frequencies=better battery
my friend has a Gnex and said he flashed it and it made a huge boost in smoothness. If we found out any way to incorporate it into sense immagine how smooth our phone would be
I dont see how ICS could be any more fluid... ICS with sense fragments still left in it runs perfect even at 800mhz. I don't see how it could be any better!

Running perfect at 192 or 384mhz?
I'm pretty sure it doesn't double performance but it does make things a little more fluid

Its too bad we'll never see this since the rezound is cursed when it comes to aosp.

Aosp will come eventually. Ril is working, just a matter of the kernel from what I've heard. I think we should have more faith in our devs.

I don't care about AOSP, but these devs are machines. Chad is working on a kernel that will eventually be able to do AOSP.
All of your woes will be things of the past soon enough.

Faster performance has the potential to increase battery life. If you can get the same task done in half the time, you return to idle faster, and this conserve power.

I stumbled on this in a N10 thread of all places.
Sounds nice. Users are reporting drastic battery life increases on Hammerhead. Since we run a similar chipset in our G2s, I hope some G2 dev looks into this.

I think that we already have this 19.2 clock rate in LG source code, correct me if im wrong
You are not wrong. According to dorimanx' github both his kernel and stock kk kernel has i2c clock of 19.2.
this will benefit the AOSP scene IMHO!
Sent from my LG-D802 using Tapatalk
It seems that we dont have that commit on stock Look at this:

If AOSP ROMs don't have this, it could help explain why the N5 gets better battery life.

But my G2 gets good battery life...Roughly 6.5-8hrs of SOT.

U just made me laugh. When N5 got better battery life than G2? NEVER. 3000mah just makes its job. I get 8h SOT on LiquidSmooth with Vanir dorimanx kernel.
Anyone have a suggestion for a ROM with great battery life? What about AOSP vs TouchWiz? Thanks

The GPE ROM from Dan is great, along with some kernel tweaks from kToonz alot of people have been saying great things.
I had wakelock issues with the GPE. The CM one worked better. My default is OctOS, which is actual AOSP-built and not CM-built and basically wakelock-free. All the CM-based ROMs (besides Dan's - he's working off an old milestone) have had actual functionality issues over the last 1-2 months because of upstream changes from the CM side, so I would avoid those or use older stabler builds.
Here is the OP, I will update it when I have time today.
Features:
Layers, status bar tweaks, advanced power menu, optimizations, etc.

Nice ROM title! And its aosp based!
I like Roms with layers support. Will give it a try when I left the hospital, thanks.

Looks like it's just getting started...the OP is rather threadbare, and the links, as you've noted, resolve to OptiPop.
I assume things will be completed in short order.
Looking forward to this as well.

I'm all about Despair.. Can't wait to try it!
Here is the beta build. Don't freak out on the name, this was before we changed it. I will have my build up shortly
EDIT: We need to clean up our source a little bit, we will do that first and release a newer build later today.

Actually what's the difference between this and opti pop?
^was going to ask this myself
Not certain, but one would assume once it's uploaded and the original post is edited, those questions will be answered.

As you know, recently optipop has been buggy. This is basically a slimmed down ROM that will be more stable and I will have a bit more control over what goes into it.
The idea here is to optimize, retain stability and add only useful features, it seems optipop is now being filled with every feature that exists.

I'll give it a run when the new one is posted, it's always bugged me when features have been added to ROMs simply to have another feature. Often less truly is more. Bizarre how certain ROMs get so bloated and over worked that they become unstable, slow and unreliable yet has everything in the kitchen tossed in for good measure.

Agree, I look for only the basics....well basic for me.
-nav bar stuff
-volume button controls
-LED notifications
-layers
-dt2w
I either stay with Elemental or a stock kernel if it has volume controls.

Sorry for the delay guys, I am trying to clean up our source still, we have a few compiler issues going on currently so I am rebasing a couple repos tonight. For now use the previous build I linked.
