[Q] ROM or Root or Bootloader Suggestion please - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hi guys! I'm new on this forum!
I read lots of posts and pages...but i can't understand something (maybe because i'm italian and reading english isn't so easy for me)...i need a suggestion:
i have an xperia sola sent 2 times to xperia support for solve lot (too much) problems of my phone...the first time i installed 4.0.4 and it was a disaster, a really disaster...they re-send me the phone with android 2.3 (i don't remeber which) as i requested: problems...the other time phone came back a little different, with android 2.3.7 (GB)...now i have GB, but there are still problems (one is that 1 months ago it started in "safe mode" and no widget has been loaded, and now since 1 month ago every widget is red with "impossible to load widget"; other is that lots of time apps "doesn't answer" or they autoatically close; and others and others)...i don't want to send my phone another time to support and request sobstitution with another xperia sola as they suggested me, because situation will not change i think...
my question is: what i might do better?
keep my 2.3.7 and restore it with official way
root my 2.3.7 (after restoring it, i think)
root and activate (is it right?) bootloader on my 2.3.7
install extreme security + experience v.2 (aroma) (to do this, do i need to install 4.0.4 before?) (with or without bootloader?)
i need a phone that begin the call when i need, messages, mail, gps, calendar and the most useful things...i don't need to play and i don't need facebook or other social networks...but it has to be not fast, but acceptable and a working right phone...so is better wich of the options?
i'm sorry but i'm hating my phone and i don't know what to do...thankyou

I suggest you to restore the phone to GB and try to use it or if you want you can root the phone, unluck your bootloader and then install a slim custom rom for better performance.

New Ace User..

Greetings all..
I just bought a SAM Ace.. i had a Htc Magic then a X10 mini and now i turned to SAM.. heard that it was a good machine.. so..
I've been using XDA to root, and install new roms to my previous phones..
But in this SAM, unfortunately i am a bit conserned.. So can any1 help me in this questions:
: I'm running Ginger 2.2.3 updated throug Kies
1 - My mobile is sim locked.. i can't use any other sim.. I already searched that is possible to (root) the phone and then install an apk that unlocks the sim lock.. has any1 tried this? is it safe?
2 - I'm a bit worried to (root) this phone, does any1 report any problem after with network, battery and general stability of the device?
3 - Is the best stable official rom at the moment the one i have now or is there a better one ? Though Kies i can't find the 2.2.4v u guys are talking about.. so .. This isn't really an official rom right?
4- Since i've got my phone from Vodafone, it has some operator aps that i don't really use and they are using needed space, is there a way to remove them somehow.. like.. instaling a official rom from elsewere, but still upgradable through Kies? Or do i really need to (root) the device? After rooted, can i still install a official 2.2.3 rom.. but.. without all the operator crap?
5 - There are a few custom roms as i can see, i used to use de Cyanogen in my X10 mini, but i had some issues with sending and receiving mms.. , at the moment.. is there any stable and fully operational roms ? including the mms solved problems..? cof cof.. and good battey usage time ?
6 - Sorry for any bad english.
Thank you !!
Welcome to the community!
For question 4,I have used 2.2.1 and 2.3.4.felt ok except the wifi died occasionally which was a documented problem.
For question 5,I am currently on cyanogen but its a rc version.I am quite happy with it as performance boosted.but it came at the price of battery life.haven't tried mms though
Sent from supercharged cyanogen7ace
Try to use cyanogen for the rom.

1. No idea although I don't see why it wouldn't be safe.
2. Rooting is easy. Like everything else, be careful and follow instructions to the T and you'll have no problems.
3. Correct. There is no 2.3.4 update through Kies...I think. Plug your phone in and find out.
4. If you want to remove bloatware, root your device and use Root Unistaller. Alternatively, flash a new ROM.
5. There are two variants of CM7.1 at the moment. One was made by BehradGH the other by Grif_07. Both work wonderfully.
6. It wasn't that bad =]

1.
You should really be cautious when trying to unlock your phone. A lot of people bricked their phone by doing this. Since I have no personal experience in this; all I can do is direct you to threads on XDA but I'm too lazy to look them up for you so I suggest you to use "search".
Thanks to those who answered..
Question for "jimbo.levy" ...
Can u tell me what rom are u using at this moment and how long the battery lasts?
Do you know if CM7 for ace supports mms?

I am using Icecream Sunday by Jusada. It's an ICS themed CM7.1 ROM but it has been stripped down to the bear minimum. Jusada initially made it as a foundation ROM for developers to then customize as they saw fit but it has become very popular amongst forum members as a day-to-day ROM. It is very stable and more importantly (for me) it is FAST!
Also, because it has been stripped down, I have noticed a lot better battery time.
Granted, the battery life on almost all Android phones is crap, but if you're looking to be more conservative with power and increased speed, use Icecream Sunday.
So to answer your question - I get about half a day's SOLID use from my battery.
As far as MMS goes, I am not sure. You'd have to ask one of the devs.
Hope that's helped

Welcome to XDA!
1) It can be quite tricky to unlock the Ace, and can brick/reset it. First check if it really is locked.
2) There's risk involved in rooting, but it's minimal - if you follow the instructions. There are pros and cons of rooting, but the pros outweigh the cons.
3) Kies sucks IMO, so you're better off upgrading with ODIN. Look in this section: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1167.
4) The best way to remove the bloatware/crapware is by rooting and then uninstalling them, or by flashing a custom ROM.
5) There are a lot of stable ROMs available, take your pick: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1194358, there's supposed to be an official Cyanogen for Ace(cooper) in the works, but if you can't wait that long, I recommend this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1263292

[Q] [HELP] I need ROM JB 4.2 for Pantech Burst 9070

Hello everyone, I have a Pantech Burst 9070 with Ice Cream 4 am root and I have installed the clockwork recovery, and I made a backup with ROM Manager.
Now I need to get a set JellyBeans ROM on my cell. If anyone knows of any ROM stable and reliable, please share the link to download and install.
Also I have two questions:
1. If I install JB, I will miss the release of the sim?
2. If you do not like JB, I can go back to the recovery of IC I made with ROM Manager?
Thank you! for their help
Here you can restore this in CWM:http://www.4shared.com/get/ugTBX-X7/android_42_update_for_ATT_Pant.html
It is a back up, so restore in CWM
OFFICEal POST: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36443320
Hey guys i have managed to make a rom of android 4.2 for the pantech burst but its not fully android 4.2 jellybean read full description carefully..
100% Tested and working.
Improvements:
Increased Battery Life.
Zoomable Screen.
3d Menu.
4.2 camera (Photosphere not working yet)
Working:
wifi, bluetooth, and all the system apps are working vey well.
Not working:
Photosphere, Android 4.2 Lockscreen And google Now.
These things will be fixed when i will give the next updated!!
Hey guys,
i have posted a link for downloading the jellybean android 4.2.1 rom for the pantech burst.
PLEASE READ CAEFULLY:
extract and copy all the files to your phones sd card.
go to cwm recovery and choose backup and restore
choose restore
select this file
flash then reboot its done.
PLEASE DONATE HERE:[email protected]
after installing every application you need to restart the launcher you can force close it this will be fixed soon.
I have tested this rom before posting the link.
i am not a developer but i like doing these things as a passion. recently my brother had came for a stay to our house and he had brought this one of the best devices.
he had came just for 6 days and in 6 days we had rooted this phone and installed android 4.0 and were even able to make android 4.2 or this phone.this rom isnt fully android 4.2 jellybean you can say that it is mixed functions of kagedmod and android 4.2 jellybean but its still jellybean.
the photosphere is not working soon i will post an update with the photosphere working and as he was only for 6 days i was not able to make the android 4.2 lockscreen so the default lockscreens are present but still i was able to make a home screen like nexus 4 (Fully Zoomable) and 3d. i have made a lockscreen which has similar features as the lockscreen of android 4.2 but its not exactly as same as android 4.2 this is a different 3d version maybe you people like this.
I am currently 14 years old i love making these these things for android as a passion so i do but still i cant do this perfectly as i myself do not have a phone and use my relatives phone who agree and want to root ie install custom roms in their phones.
I too want to have a high end phone like you guys but my father is not able to buy me one but it would be greatful if i can recieve some donations. kindly donate if you like this rom.i always had a dream of buying a high end smartphone but my father cant buy me one. Donations from you guys can help me a lot.
PLEASE DONATE HERE:[email protected]
i will give the update of this rom as soon as i make one.
Guess have to wait for my brother to come again
SOME SCREENSHOTS ARE ATTACHED KINDLY CHECK.THE WIDGETS APPEAR SMALL DUE TO ZOOMABLE HOMESCREEN YOU CAN ZOOM IN AND ZOOOM OUT TO MANAGE THE SIZES.
as currently i cannot post links on xda as i havent posted 0 posts yet so the link for the dwonload is in the barcode...

NEO V [LB] Stdroid rom (GB 2.3.4)

Hi:
Since I can't post it on the dev thread itself, I post it here.
I'm talking about this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2248886
I have one Xperia Neo V (locked bootloader) with it and it flies, it's a wonderful rom, very well developed and with lots of room to be even better.
But I happened to see the 2.0 patch for NEO in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40694734&postcount=2
within the same thread and I applied it through CWM, thinking that it was an small update as many devs do.
This patch causes me the phone camera preview screen to be seen topside-down when trying to take a photo,
so it's quite hard to point and shoot, leaving camera almost unusable. So beware, I would recommend not to apply that patch.
I currently solved it by reinstalling from CWM the original 2.0 version download from the 1st post.
Since nobody else has reported it, I wanted to do it to help anyone that might do the same mistake than me (I do not blame @piCool13 the rom creator or @Tommy-Geenexus the patch contributor, I just blame myself here).
I did a factory reset when restoring original 2.0 version and recovered everything else with Titanium backup.
Good luck to everyone and have a nice Christmas season (where available).

Well it seems you didn't understand what that file was... The rom originally was only for neo v... The patch was a way for neo users to also use the rom...it contains some file related to camera so when anyone with Neo v when uses neo camera will get buggy camera...
Sent from my Xperia Neo V using Tapatalk 2
I have learned this in the bad way, since I didn't find it out until after having spent a couple of weeks with this rom and
wanted to take a photo away from my home
I'm used to other roms where NEO and NEO V are mentioned or used more or less "interchangeably", but it is not in this one.
Thanks @Attitude.SSJ
