Any developers working on VRUEMJ9 4.3 bootloader unlock? We have been waiting so long for this bootloader unlock so that we can use customrom.
If no one is working, then we can do OTA update to 4.4.2 VRUFND7.

I doubt it. Old device.
if u need root dont update, just install safestrap and run a kit kat rom.
The dev's said it wasn't worth their time to work so hard on because it was extremely hard to get past the lock on the bootloader. Your best bet is using SafeStrap with MJ9, or waiting for the dev's to root android 4.4 on the Note 2.

Thank you. I hope 4.4 bootloader can be unlocked sooner.
If I use safestrap with MJ9, I cannot install custom room, can I?
Bummer. RIP.
Dang. I just bought a used Note 2 with the MJ9 bootloader.. I have an old Motorola Droid Maxx with safestrap and I can run any rom I'd like on it.. SS on GN2 is still in early Alpha (with no signs of it being done anytime soon) and apparently you can only flash over the Stock slot and only TW roms.. Bummer.
I appreciate the devs for what they do. I just find it odd that Droid Maxx (from 2011) with safestrap works flawlessly with any roms. Their threads are filled with awesome ports of roms. Not the Note 2. Comes with the territory when you get into this kinda stuff.
GEOHOTZ YOU'RE OUR ONLY HOPE.

Hey everyone, I am new to rooting but I have been all over t)his site learning about it. I currently have a verizon note 2 running 4.3 that I took OTA, with a vruemj9 build. I see that I can root the phone with safe root but it won't unlock the boot loader? So that means I can't install CWM or any custom Roms or kernels? Isn't that the best thing about rooting phones? Is there any way around this? Can I roll back to something before the 4.3 since I took it OTA? And than be able to root my phone? Thanks in advance guys. Any help would be appreciated

Well I just read and saw that I can't undo the OTA 4.3 update. So I guess I'll just have to use the safe root and hope for the bootloader to get unlocked. I knew I should have done this a long time ago . Has anyone seen that galaxynote2root Something about downloading root injected firmware?
Should I unroot first if I want to accept the 4.4.3 OTA update from Verizon?
My VZW Note 2 was rooted via Saferoot. Then I disabled SDM and FWupgrade by renaming them to *.bak.
I don't mind resetting everything to factory default. If I do that, should I unroot as well?
Thanks!
nope you shouldnt have to unroot. However, do understand that there is a chance that you cannot root in the future with 4.4 due to Knox 2.0. We just have to hope developers find a new way to root/unlock bootloader.

Thanks! That exactly what confuses me right now.
If I don't unroot and turn on SDM/FWupgrade to allow 4.4.3 OTA update to
be installed on my rooted Note 2,will the rooting disappear afterwards?
(going back to rooted state by itself?)
Or will the Note 2 remain rooted?
Thanks!

There is no 4.4.3 Ota. Only 4.4.2. And yes you will lose root. It's not currently rooted.
Never take the OTA's. Just wait for one of the ROM developers to make a ROM based on the OTA.

yeah, I meant 4.4.2
If my Galaxy Note 2 is currently rooted, it will not lose root after 4.4.2 is installed. Is this correct?

Is that even possible on a Verizon Galaxy Note 2 that came from Samsung with 4.3?

Once you update using the OTA 4.4, you WILL LOSE root.
If your phone came with 4.3, then it is not possible to flash another rom since the bootloader is locked. Root is possible though.

Actually it is still possible to flash custom roms with locked bootloader: safestrap.
I made the mistake of taking the 4.3 over the air update last year.
Ive since been using the phone with a straight talk sim but would love to get rid of all the verizon bloatware and run a custom rom...
Just wondered if this is possible yet or is the bootloader still locked down tight?

search "safestrap" and "saferoot"
you can root and use titanium to freeze apps or use safestrap to flash only MJ9 based roms over your current stock rom. I recommend n3bula if you are going to use safestrap
Its been a while since I looked into seeing if the 4.3 note 2 was yet able to be flashed with custom roms and bootloader unlocked.
Any updates?

I recently rooted and flashed a 5.0 rom on a sprint s5 just to find out it wont work with straight talk, ive been running my verizon note 2 for years with a gsm sim, i had it ported to straight talks cdma lte 4g and my service is much better.
I would like to get another year or so out of the phone but its been laggy after years of use.
I could factory reset but would love to get rid of the bloatware and flash a custom rom.
Is N3bula the best bet still? Im not too picky on what rom I flash. Just want a stable one and one thats easy to flash. Ive never tried rooting or flashing a rom on this phone yet,any thing to be aware of?
I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (SCH-1605) that is running android 4.4.2. I am currently out of contract with Verizon and I would like to start installing custom roms on my device. However, the latest OTA update has my bootloader locked down like Fort Knox. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Mike

You can use a method in the general section to get root, which isn't one click, but you have to unlock the bootloader to install custom recovery to flash roms which can't currently be done on 4.3 and up for this phone.

Ok. Cool. Hopefully, someone will find an exploit to get pass this bootloader soon.
.
So I'm on 4.3 and rooted. Am I still unable to have a recovery? I'm having horrible Wi-Fi issues and i can't figure out why. So wanna go back to og Rom to process and eliminate

I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 on build lrx22c.i545vrugoc1 and would like to flash a Play Edition ROM.
Everything I have read so far suggests that it can not be done because Verizon locked the bootloader somehow with the latest update.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks
You're correct, though the BL has always been locked. I don't believe there is any way to root the LL build as of now.

Actually, if you go into the different sections, root has been gained for updates after the initial MDK bootloader. MDK is still the only version of the bootloader that is capable of running custom roms without having to use safestrap.
Having root and the capability or ability of running custom roms are two horses of a different color.
I didn't say you couldn't root different builds, i said the bootloader has never been unlocked.
If you are on oc1 boot loader there is no way to root and you can't downgrade from oc1 so you can't gain root

I have OC1 update and a rooted i545
OC1 CAN be rooted with KingRoot. Many people reported that the chinese app works.
As far as ROMs for OC1, there is nothing like AOSP. Only Touchwiz ones. Only Play edition SIMILAR ROMs are eclipse and Kitpop, which you cannot do because you are on OC1. You can Root, and get a stockdeodex ROM, that is about it.
The bootloader has been locked for ages. Only unlocked bootloader is for MDK, which was about 2-3 years back. No hack for the bootloader has been found as of yet.
