Sch-i605 verizon 4.3 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hey everyone, I am new to rooting but I have been all over t)his site learning about it. I currently have a verizon note 2 running 4.3 that I took OTA, with a vruemj9 build. I see that I can root the phone with safe root but it won't unlock the boot loader? So that means I can't install CWM or any custom Roms or kernels? Isn't that the best thing about rooting phones? Is there any way around this? Can I roll back to something before the 4.3 since I took it OTA? And than be able to root my phone? Thanks in advance guys. Any help would be appreciated

Well I just read and saw that I can't undo the OTA 4.3 update. So I guess I'll just have to use the safe root and hope for the bootloader to get unlocked. I knew I should have done this a long time ago . Has anyone seen that galaxynote2root Something about downloading root injected firmware?

ICS OTA

Hey guys, quick question.
I'm rooted on 2.3.6, so I was wondering if Ill have to unroot to see the OTA in settings
Thanks.
No, but you will lose root after you update

You should see it when it comes. Your root will probably go away though. I just flashed all the way back to .171 and did the update to .181 (no root) manually just in case people who are rooted have issues with the OTA then itll be one less thing to worry about it.

I saw somewhere that root was already achieved for the OTA so that's no problem, thank guys.
You should unroot and then use this in order to get root again.
Is there a way to unroot without wiping?

Accidentally accepted the 4.3 OTA

So, this morning I accidentally accepted the 4.3 OTA update. I know I can't install any custom roms because of the locked bootloader I now have. Are there any stock roms I can install?

You are on the stock rom. What you have is what you get. You can root and use xposed framework for some things, but that's it.

Kingo root is what I used to get root access it also provides an unroot option.

[Q] 4.4.2 KitKat Update Issues

So I used saferoot to root back at the 4.3 update; however, overnight one night my phone decided to install the tiny update Verizon pushed that kept 4.3 but took away root. Now I am trying to update to 4.4.2 via OTA update but it continuously fails...Since I've lost root already, I'm looking for a way to manually install the 4.4.2 update (knowing I won't have root access..but I don't know so...) or revert back to an 4.3 so I can root again with safestrap...
Can anyone offer any insight on either of these options? I'd probably prefer to revert to 4.3 and have root over 4.4.2 without....

Android Version - 4.3

If you're on 4.3 w/o root, you can follow this thread and regain root. - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2752360
I haven't see anyone post 4.4.2 yet to manually flash if the download fails. I'm the same boat there. Give it a few days and I'm sure someone will post it.
Thanks

Thanks, I actually came across that post just a bit ago (apparently gave up on finding an answer a bit early, sorry). One other question though, if and/or when someone posts 4.4.2, is there a way to update manually and maintain root access? Or is root lost once it's updated in any way?

The only way you'd be able to get root is if someone finds a root exploit for this specific device and 4.4.2 (assuming you're on 4.3 with a locked bootloader already).
If you don't have a locked bootloader, then you can flash custom 4.4.x roms with root.
But if you are on a custom rom with an unlocked bootloader and you ODIN to the stock Verizon 4.4.2 that rolled out yesterday, you'd get a locked (possibly permanently) bootloader and a potentially un-rootable 4.4.2 rom.

Mine did the first couple times. What I did was odin to stock 4.3 again and take the small update on 4.3 and then the 4.4.2 worked after that.

[Q] Looking for a one click root . I am running Android 4.4.2

I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (SCH-1605) that is running android 4.4.2. I am currently out of contract with Verizon and I would like to start installing custom roms on my device. However, the latest OTA update has my bootloader locked down like Fort Knox. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Mike

You can use a method in the general section to get root, which isn't one click, but you have to unlock the bootloader to install custom recovery to flash roms which can't currently be done on 4.3 and up for this phone.

Ok. Cool. Hopefully, someone will find an exploit to get pass this bootloader soon.

A little direction

I had a sprint galaxy s4 about 6 months ago and it seems as if things are different with the Verizon s4....I want to root and start flashing roms but I honestly don't know where to start and which way is the best way. I'm looking to be fully rooted. I'm on the latest stock software update...so what would be the best way to approach rooting so I can be fully rooted? Sorry, I just get confused when seeing all the posts about the bootloader being locked and certain software versions having different methods etc...any help?
If you are on the latest update (NG6) i think this is the only way to root currently.

OK and from there I should be able to flash cwm and start flashing roms?
You can install safestrap and flash roms with that. Bootloader is locked so you can't flash a custom recovery
