[Q] Can someone flash MIUI using CWM? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just as the title states, can we flash MIUI using CWM? Or do we really have to follow their guide ( Which uses a weird one)?

Are we allowed to give links?
Here it is:
Guide in flashing: http://en.miui.com/a-203.html
Rom: http://en.miui.com/download-17.html
I haven't tried it yet, maybe it's something like odin I guess.

Can't post screenshots I uninstalled it now I only installed it to test But it's standard Miui its based off 4.1 there is newer custom versions around the forum based on 4.2 which i think are better saying all that it's not too bad only had a quick look though.

My search for a better rom is still not finish, I have tried CM11, Slim and RR, im looking for a rom that actually beats the stock rom[rooted not tweaked not changed kernel](which i had backed up so i could return to it anytime) in terms of battery.

Hey!
Go to HERE!
And how to go to recovery?
1)Shut down you phone.
2)Hold down POWER+HOME buttons together, until you screen blink once and then comes GALAXY ACE....(not just SAMSUNG logo). Now you can release the buttons.
Now you must see the RECOVERY menu. Use the steps, in that thread, what link I gave you.
ENJOY!
CHEERS!
I thought Froyo do not support ClockWorkMod 4.0.0.9 yet? Correct me if i'm wrong.

Yes, you're right, I should have checked first
Sorry I have another question. Do I need to unlock my phone in order to flash into KPH? As you can see from my first post my firmware region is not from Europe and the custom rom I wanted to flash requires me to flash KPH first before flashing their rom. And also if im using CWM v4 in KPH, do i need to flash back into v3 before flashing back froyo since froyo still doesn't support CWMv4?

Hey!
You mean UNLOCK or ROOTING. I think you mean ROOTING? If yes, then you dont need to ROOT, before FLASHING to KPH(with ODIN).
If you FLASH custom ROM, they are all ROOTED already for now!
And for second question: you not need to FLASH CWM3. It will be removed automatically, if you FLASH to KPH with ODIN!

I mean unlocking because I heard that some people said that one need to unlock his/her phone before he/she can flash firmware of other region's. Base on your first answer, do you mean that flashing firmware and custom rom do not need root? Because I think I need to root before Flashing custom rom.( Anyway I have already rooted my phone.)

You not need to ROOT, if you FLASH new FIRMWARE with ODIN(ROOT after FLASHING, because you LOSE you ROOT, if you FLASHING). And custom ROM-s not need to ROOT, they all ROOTED for now!

By looking at your picture I don't think you have custom ROM install or flash successfully. You're recovery mode looks standard/default by Samsung Stock Firmware. Try following the link posted above by tuxnice. Good Luck.
Edit: Did you happen to flash something to it?...Kernel, Custom ROM, Mods or trying to Root it maybe?

Root is already done on custom roms. 4.3 has developers options and root in there. If you dont see dev options tap build about 5 times and it will come up in menu.
Edit: do you mean your on stock rom and no root? If so yes you need to root first. Sorry haven't read posts to well today.
What firmware do you have? Gb/ics/jb?

I had rooted an HTC Desire, for Cyanogen. First with Samsung and Paranoid. Btwn I have i9100 model.
So pick say lss philz zip and flash that in recovery. Make sure you put it on ext sd and go to recovery and then update. Reboot and root with cwm recovery is done. Then follow op in pa for how to install pa rom.
Im on biftor v11 with apollo kernel.

[Q] CWM recovery

Just this mitnute rooted my GS3. I used odin and the CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4. Everything we smoothly, I can see Super User on my phone, however, I cannot see Clockworkmod Recovery anywhere on my phone. Do I need to install it separately?? Thanks in advance guys :good:
CF auto root is the recommended path to root, it won't install CWM.

Then u can flash custom recoveries. U dun have to use cwm. U can use others like twrp, philz. Btw dun use the apps in play store to flash the recoveries. Google search "gt-i9300 (the custom recovery u wan)" and find it.

It's recommended you flash a custom recovery regardless if u want to flash some mods or roms. It always comes in handy and you have the option to backup the whole system and create an image file, so you'll be safe, if anything goes wrong with flashing someday or you screw your system, you can always recover it with the custom recovery. Pretty amazing

Unfortunately, we are not allowed to recommend stuff here and advertise. Just look under android development and read the comments, I'm sure you'll fine a good one. Don't forget to backup your current system first and your data. When you're done, you can test out roms not worrying much about if they work or not

Mod Edit
As ^^^meeklosh^^^ suggests:
"Best" or "Recommend" ROM/kernel posts are not allowed on XDA.
Please test these things for yourself.
This is the only way you will get an unbiased opinion, and then, you can decide for yourself if it meets YOUR needs.
Don't forget to make a nandroid before you start.

Hi,

I have the clockworkmod recovery PhilZ Touch 3 6.0.1.5 but I am not sure if that one is a KitKat compatible (I imagine it is) or if I need to do something else to install the new ROM (apart from the standard instructions I mean, wipe, etc).
Thank you very much

You want philz 6.48.4 .zip. Just flash it from recovery, reboot to recovery(not system), then flash the rom, gapps etc as normal after full wipe

hehe, I guess it would be alright for only one person to see it. Will remove once the person has downloaded it. The project is dead, but of course I still respect the devs. I'm sure he'll understand that posting one link won't hurt. Thanks for point that out mate!
Technically it's not a direct link, moreover it is a link to the folder containing the files. So you could say it is a relative link (or something called like that).
