Buying the k900 - Lenovo K900

Hello, mates, I just recently noticed this beautiful phone and I am looking forward to getting one. I've been reading reviews on the net and posts here on xda, and I still haven't made my mind. Do you like this phone and would you recommend it, or better should I buy some other phone for the same price? I noticed, that people complain about poor battery life and lack of official lenovo support. Is that right?
Thanks for answers and cheers!

I'm now one week user. I tried offical rom and custom rom.
Phone is very nice. I love it. I want to share + and - 's with you.
+ Phone's exterior is very different. attracts everyone's attention. you cant compare it with Samsungs toy plastic body. Its nice
+ Screen is very good. 1080p giving very good experiance with photos videos.
+ Camera is good .( but after custom rom i cant get same performance... Sadly.)
+Antutu is 22000. Thats enough for me.
+ I never faced with stupid erors as my old gionee
- Lenovo forget the put a cooler fan to phone. (I'm serious.. Think a gaming laptop without a cooling fan) You can use this phone in winter under the blanket or, you can cook pizza on it. Your call.
- There is no LPG or diesel engine on it, that means that heating taking it's energy from battery. (Total life is 1 day.)
- Wifi is very fast but signal performance weak i think. (maybe its about my custom row rom)
- Lenovo dont care about the k900 users anymore. We already gave our money, why do they waste their precious times with us ha?..
Latest + coment is,
+ We have still rom developers for K900 indeed and they are still working for us.. Many thanks to them.
Final: It has too many negative comments but still i'm happy to be a user of K900.. If some day our developers can provide 4.4Kitkat, it will be perfect. :good:

Hey, thanks for response. Pros are exactly what I though to myself. Could you give more info about your usage and standby usage, what is the most battery draining stuff (wifi, mobile data and etc.)? I really love the looks of this baby but will it be used with all it's potential in europe? Are qubex or vibe roms are used further than asian region?
Cheers!

[Q] Does anybody regret buying the XPS?

Hi there.
Just as the title says. Im looking to buy one myself but wont to get a feel of what people are thinking about there decision to buy this device.
Cheers
Nah! Never regreted my purchase!
On the contrary, I have sent it for the "yellow tint" thingy service, and I already miss the poor [email protected]@rd!
Not a single day!
I recommend it :good:
No, this is the best smartphone I had. X10 and Arc was good ones but the XPS have it all. No more memory problem since it have more than enough.

Compare the design among all other smart phones on the market, the answer is no. Not to mention its still one of those high end dual core devices these days
Sent from my LT26i using xda premium
Some days I regret that I got the XS and not the S3 cause of the settings available in ICS and some of the feature.
But then I look at the design and my XS makes me smile again.

I wonder why people call it outdated phone!!!
if you looked at its hardware, the camera is one of the best (12mp), the screen is one of the best (HD), and it has NFC, just to mention few. tell me one things the xperia s lacks
and if you looked at its software, it is a bit late to the party but its running 4.0.4 (very few phones running this version).
the only thing that might be outdated is the chip ONLY, but with the smooth experience, you won't know that you are using 1 year old chip except from tech sites but not from your phone itself.
the power is not everything, with the xperia s, it is very smooth, while with the more powerful HTC one x, some people suffering some laggyness. well, there is no point of having 1000php truck while 300php porsche will beat it very easily . this doesn't mean I don't want more power, but for the current time, this is just enough for me.

Oh! Another Kiwi! On the internet!
I didn't regret it at all, even though I paid probably a fair bit more than most others to get my hands on mine. It was probably one of the first devices to land here (complete with the yellow screen issue - although mine only turns yellow when the phone heats up. I think some people got screens that stained yellow.)
Got mine at PB, I wanted to play with the phone hands-on before I bought and I figured it'd be a bit of a **** move to go into the store to try it and then buy it somewhere else for cheaper. I had to convince them to sell me their display model. I wanted the black one but they had that one on display, and an unopened white handset... but I wanted the black. I go to PB a lot anyway with electronics purchases for friends and family, so. Loyalty pays off!
They've dropped their price a lot since I snapped up my handset. I paid $950 GST Inc, which was a fair bit more than the Galaxy S II was going for at the time. Early adopter's tax
If you want it on contract with Vodafone, I've been told unofficially that the Xperia S should be available from them very soon.
the only thing I regret is the software! sony really has to do a better job with it's software...
the phone itself is great :victory:
Not one bit. Love it
Just a few things you must know....-
The worst battery life you will ever have on a smart phone.
touch capacitive buttons are not smooth....

Worst battery life on smart phone? How many smart phone do u have? And on another note, xs can do fastcharging (provided u have the needed accessories). U got full battery in about 1 hr and 30 minutes.while some new smartphones need bout 3 hours. It even charge faster than my GT540.

I would certainly purchase it if I hadn't have been given one the phone is amazing, it's fast it's smooth has great memory and the display is second to none....

Cant agree with the battery life . You can say it average at most but not "bad" .
Capacitive button is very sensitive on stock ICS . Try it .
Every phone will "lag little" it depend hows ur tolerant .
My opinion , best camera among android , clear and crispy screen , nice UI , stable os , multi function . Full statifice espicially on ICS stock .
Only lack of root without unlocking bootloader . Never regret .
Other than less sensitive capacitive bottoms and not satisfying battery life..... No not a single day I regret buying this amazing phone specially now that I updated my phone to ics I noticed an improvement in the sensitive of the capacitive bottoms and also improved the battery life noticeably that with the help of my recent purchase of JuiceDefender
Sent from my LT26i using xda app-developers app
These capacitive buttons really sucks.. I'm looking for a patch to enable on-screen buttons, the physical ones are driving me crazy.
You should try a device first if you don't accept having to press the buttons more than once frequently.
I had no improvements on ICS regarding these capacitive buttons.
the only things that would make me regret, are:
The size, because operating it with one hand is not easy (touching top screen) But i think every other comparable phone is big or even bigger than the XPS
The sensitivity of the 3 capacitive buttons, exactly.. suck . and no it's not something you will just get used to, because you will only get used to used it in a different way so it still works... This only should have been a reason to fix before selling. but probably was too late.
but there is probable no better phone yet so.. :good:

well I don't know about others but I am coming from HTC Sensation XE- and trust me if I didn't use the phone at all (or while at night) , my phone could easily give 10 hours for just 1% with a custom rom....whereas in XS I still lose 6% on Ics
and 1 more thing is that...we used to have 100s of roms updated on daily basis so I could change to the rom which suited me / usage.......but here I have hardly seen 5 roms (thanks to krappbel) he is the only who developing usable roms sofar...
Many kernels mods and so on but here u are restricted to your Ics with a poor battery life.....even galaxys3 which released after xs have a couple of roms

[Q] Is S3 worth buying?

Hi guy
I hope this is the right forum. I currently have the Galaxy Nexus (maguro) and i was thinking of getting a new device. I have an option to get the S3. Wanted to hear from you, the guys who use this phone daily, if its worth buying. Pros cons and other issues?
Thanks in advance
everything is fine with GS3. no issues with the phone except the cable used for charging being faulty. if you are wealthy enough, i would even prefer GS4. :good:
read dozens of reviews on the internet. you won't hear anything new here. also read other identical threads
Its hard to say. No doubt its a better device than the g-nex. Although if you're an aosp fan, the i9300 probably isn't your best bet.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
It's an amazing phone, but as rootSU said if you prefer pure android experience as aosp,cm..maybe it's not the best. Surely you can flash aosp based rom, but you'll lose most of touchwiz features which is a shame
It's a pretty great phone!
If you like the AMOLED screen on the GNex, then I think you'll be quite happy with the S3. The screen is the only thing I'm not too happy with - I would have preferred an LCD - but you may like it, I can't speak for everyone
The camera is really good, the specs are still good even in 2013, and you have some nice customisation options: you can replace the battery (including with an extended battery), insert a SD card for extra space, buy a new back cover if you don't like Samsung plastic ...
So if that all sounds good for you, and something better (like the S4 or HTC One) isn't an option, definitely go for the S3.

Its not so much about losing the features. The problem is lack of exynos sources. This means developers are fighting hard to release stable and quality works. For instance, the camera is no way near as good as touchwiz
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
thanks for the answers! i dont really care about touchwiz features, so i dont mind losing it. I read a lot about phones just die out of nowhere (something related to memory\motherboards flaws?). So you say there aren't many quality roms since its hard to work with the exynos cpu.. arent the drivers released for the developers community?

There are only kernel sources available. there ARE good AOSP roms, but if this is your MAIN INTENTION, you would be better off with something else. I use AOSP ROMs and have no problems.
I'm running Purelook (based on stock ROM) as my main ROM and SlimBean (AOSP based) as my 2nd ROM. I think there are excellent ROMs here for the S3 - a guy I see fairly regularly has an s$ and my tweaked S3 runs rings around it in performance and 'feel.'
From what i have seen, if I was coming in new, I might buy the S4 but I don't think it is a better-enough phone to pay the extra. And from the Sammobile site, the S3 will be getting Android 5 so I am looking forward to that.
Yes, it's still worth buying.Well I don't wonder why so much people hate Touchwiz because for example Contacts, messages, camera or settings apps takes about 3-5 secs to open xD So better choice would be to flash different ROM to avoid this problem, and also some people complaining about 1GB RAM,but it's enough, especially when you delete bloatware, turning off unnecessary services with "DisableServices" app,and locking apps in memory (you can find some tutorials how to do it on XDA) it's really enough (except if you want to keep running high graphical games in memory,or tons of apps which you just forget to close after while xD
If about battery, for me it's stand for 8-7 hours on hard usage (but to some people it stands even for 20 hours or so on)
thank you all for your tips and advises.
Touchwiz is nice features but it runs like Sh!te random slow downs lag when touching stuff. Launchers not loading

Just be sure you're not getting the one with the eMMC chip that is prone to sudden death
Otherwise it's a great phone only problem maybe is short battery life but that's the problem with all smartphones today no?
When will they invite some magical battery?

S3 is pretty much at the top of the pile regarding battery life, so saying it is short isn't really true by comparison to similar smartphones

I couldn't agree more.
Maybe you can be more specific with what's most important for you from the smartphone spec?
There are people that speakers quality is the most important, there are people that battery life, etc.
You should write down your 5 most important issues inside smartphone spec, and than compare between the models you are intrested in.
There is np 100% answer.

Opx enough?

Dear guys and girls. I'm looking a while for the opx to come out, now it's finaly here and i got an Invité but when i see the litlle reviews i hesitate so my question about it.
This one plus x , is this enough to beat the huawei p8lite or p8 because that are older phones but connectivity is very good. I seen a p8 lite and it's very snappy .
I live in belgium and use my phone not for heavy 3d games, just browsing fb INSTA Twitter and taking picture.
I now have a jiayu gs5 and it's really slow due to connectivity cus my meaning is that a smartphone these days is dependable on the internetspeed.
My Invité stills stand till 21.oou tonight. What should i take? Prices are all the same so that's not the issue.
Kind regards, Joeri

The limited amount of reviews is because the phone just came out, so you won't have to worry about that.
In terms of connectivity, you should be more then fine. Espcially since you're mostly on FB and INSTA the phone should be more then enough for you!
Here you go: Someone did a speedtest, but I guess it also depends where he lives and the coverage where he lives:

Thx for the quick answer. I looked at the forum from the speedtest and he says 25mb/s download. I hope they have poorly internet where he lives because with my 2 year old jiayu i get around 50mb/ss. So now i'm more thinking for the p8. I honestley don't know. Probably it's a good phone but will this be in the end. If he doesn't match up i spend 250€ on something bit better than my jiayu.

Any serious problems with this phone?

I recently bought the THL 2015 and since there are battery production faults I'm am again searching for a new phone. But before I buy one again I want to know whether there are problems with this phone or other reasons to absolutely not buy this phone. How is the software support from Xiaomi for de Redmi Note 2 and has the hardware any problems?
Thanks!
Well, i just have one month with this device, and I never have had a xiaomi, but i can tell you my experience. First of all, i dont like how miui launcher looks like, but you can fix it installing a new one. Beside of this, miui has some nice features like a lock button in notification area, the posibility of unlock your phone with volume buttons, the phone vibrate when you are making a call and they answer so you dont have to put it over your ear, etc. But, something bad about miui is its bad Ram memory management. And about hardware, its a nice phone, but it doesnt have premium materials, and it isnt the best looking phone, but its helio x10 and 2gb of ram make a nice combination for just 150 EU. The only thing I dont like of this phone, is the lack of gorilla glass in screen, it seems that could be broken if you arent carefull. So, in my final opinion, its worth 150 EU, but the strong fact of this phone is its processor, so if it isnt what youre looking for, you better look for another one

There is only one developper on this phone so this is the problem
I am also a former THL 2015 user and changed to this smartphone and I like it much more than the THL 2015 (dark grey - currently with Delirium AOSP v3).
On the Redmi Note 2 they use a similar glass like gorilla glas (dragontrail glass) but you can also buy a screen protection (Makibes Toughened Glass 0.33mm Screen Protector Film Cover Arc Edge For XIAOMI Redmi Note 2, very nice ~5$).
And as @adaltavo mentioned miui is not to everyones taste (has some ios feel to it and I missed the app drawer).
Differences to the THL 2015:
- from my point of view it didn't got as hot as the THL 2015
- no touch id (maybe if you wait a little longer you can buy the Redmi Note 2 Pro which features a touch ID - that's what the rumours say)
- Redmi Note 2 has better sound quality
- LED which features more than a red color xD
- better main camera (focuses better and better quality, similar speed to the THL 2015 to catch a picture)
- features "fast charging" (use a 5V 2A charger)
- Android L (THL 2015 has Kitkat) (I like Android L - I got used to it)
- ...
Hmm, as far as I am aware at least my phone Redmi Note 2 Prime does not support fast charging (the soc should support it, but obviously not enabled). For me the most serious issue is battery life.
Which rom are you using?
Just my 2 cents: I changed the MIUI with an AOSP ROM and I am satisfied.
The phone is great for the money and I don't have a cheap feeling especially having the great feature to replace completely the cover.
I found very few phones with that feature + 2 sims + external sd card ...
Thanks for your opinions. Since I have received a spare battery I will continue to use my THL 2015 for a while and wait for the Mi5 or the next generation of the Redmi Note. Or if the battery dies before any of those phones get released I will probably buy this one. I personally like MIUI so this isn't a problem and as for the battery life: I have an external power bank so I can charge it during the day if the battery gets to low. As you said there are a lot of good features like the dual sim and the external sd card slot so I guess for the price it is a good phone. Thanks a lot!

Hello, well similar battery performance on all roms I have tried. I think like no more than 4.5 hours on WiFi, and no more 3.5 hrs 3G mostly web browsing. I am not sure what is sucking the battery so much, as MTK HELIO X10 is used in so many devices and battery seem ok on them. So it's either that, or the screen which in my case is TYANMA.
Try 5.10.22 dev ROM. I keep recommending it as it has been the best update so far. Just yesterday I got 6:17 SOT on wifi, and that's with watching streams on Twitch for a good chunk of time.
Sent from my Redmi Note 2
it's a good phone. not the best, but considering 150euro...
the most important feature i want from this phone is removable battery and external sd.
i figure the fixed battery is just a strategy feature they use to force you to change your device every 2 years(the battery will wear out). and in my opinion, an extra battery is always better than a bank.
the most disappointing about this phone is the battery life. it seems X10 is not that easy to handle. so if you get this phone, the rom i highly recommended is the 10.22. it has the best Soc control so far.
and now i am looking for a good battery life ASOP rom.
and in addition, there seems to be a seal problem at the front, which makes the front cam easy to have dust inside. not big problem since i barely use the from cam.
I agree with you man and I would add that the ability to replace completely the body is another feature non easy at all to find in a smartphone. if you don't break/scratch the screen you can replace battery and back cover and have a brand new phone when you want !
Yeah, but the thing is the replaceable battery phone is so rare these days. So I can almost see my day of compromise...
You see, I am used to be a milestone fan, If you know what I mean....
For me, the battery is no worse than any other phone that I have ever used. I can get 2 full days of moderate usage on a single charge. Mind you, I have Greenify running, and also 360 Security, both of which have battery saving features. Wakelock Detector will show you which apps/services are using up your juice - and you can "Freeze" the system apps that you don't need (with great caution). For example, I have frozen the system launcher (I use Nova), the Google Keyboard (I use SwiftKey), and the Documents app (which I don't need). I may yet freeze some more when I am feeling a bit braver....

Yes, it has gapps.

Oh, and I really don't think the red buttons look all that good. But a great phone otherwise.

[Help] oneplus x - yes/No ?

Hello fellow devs.
I'm planning to buy a new android device under $250 which have a nice battery life, pretty good performance , decent camera and also a good record of development in present or near future.
I've short listed three devices which are oneplus x , oneplus one and moto g 2015.
Can someone give me a detailed review about their experiences with the opx ?
Pros , cons or whatever
And is buying a opo , still a nice idea ?
Thanks a lot in advance☺
you have to make your own decision, each device has its power/ weakness points.
for example the oneplus one has a large display, you can get it if u okay with that.
but the moto g will be updated faster than the oneplus x ond the others.
i got the oneplus x a month ago and it is perfect in general, but the battery doesn't last a day with heavy duty, but the battery saver is efficient.
you can search about the battery life.
do not forget about comparing between specifications of devices that you are going to chose one of them.
it's all about what your needs of the device that in your hands.
hit thanks button if that was helpful, and sorry for any bad English.
I'm perfectly OK with 5 inches and I'm on xda, so you can know how can I get timely updates?.
Thanks for giving a heads up.
I'm more concerned abt the performance difference between opx and opo.

Thanks for giving a heads up.
I'm more concerned abt the performance difference between opx and opo.

Well that's coz of crappy oxygen os.
I saw some pretty good benchmarks which were even more than moto x play.
Btw how's the battery backup ?
Totally yes! Had a variety of devices until I ended up with this one (Z3, 5s, Nexus 6, Flex2).
I have no idea why everybody talks crap about the software. I am a heavy user and haven't encountered a single FC or random reboot.
The build quality is phenomenal. I have the champagne version.
Screen is very bright with almost accurate colors. I preffer it this way because they pop a bit.
Signal quality is excelent, talking experience is loud and smooth.
Downsides? Camera is not a wow factor, but it does it's job.
Very slippery without a case.
Hard to find compatible accesories.
Ignore stupid benchmarks. Watch for example a comparison between HTC A9 that outbenches this phone by far, but in day to day tasks, Oneplus X wipes the floor with it.
Thanks for the review. Luckily i got an invite 10 mins ago!!?
Feeling so excited abt the device.
What screen on time are u getting on the device ?

I'm doing 5h SOT normal use, from 100% to 15-20%, more than one day (normally 36h use): whatsapp, tapatalk, carbon, flipboard, some chrome navigation, gps, maps. I think it's a great battery performance, stock software (Oxygen 2.1.3-X), no root.
