Edit: The issue appears to be present system wide. Any streaming video (not sure if audio streams are affected, I'll assume they are and generalize to all streams) that has been buffered will be dumped when the screen is turned off on the device.
Reproducible by buffering any video for any duration then locking/turning off the screen. The buffered video will be dumped leaving you waiting for it to buffer the same data yet again.
Any idea how to circumvent this aside from never letting the screen timeout? I'm using mobile data most of the time and it's down right infuriating when I'm constantly downloading the same data again and again running up my bill due to this issue.
Device: Verizon Galaxy Note 2 (sch-i605)
ROM: Sophisticated 3 (4.3) with included kernel
(Am I missing important details? Let me know! This is my first post here)
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello,
I am hoping someone could help me solve an issue I have been having with multiple sleep/hypnosis apps that use looped samples. They have been working fine until the recent system update to 4.5.91.
What is happening is that when the sample gets to the end of its track and is intended to loop with no pause for a theoretically seamless loop, the sample now pauses for a half of a second before looping, thereby disrupting the effectiveness of the software. It is even more of an annoyance when multiple tracks are involved all stopping at different intervals.
I have even been trying to work with tesla software and their ambiscience sleep app and their 40+ binaural beat pattern software. At this point even they are baffled. I have also tried sleep now and I am getting the same issue.
I know it was immediately after the system update and cannot figure it out.
Any ideas? Anyone else able to verify the issue as well?
Thanks!
I'm not quite sure if it's the right term for the title but are there any ways of keeping a window in a browser (i'm using opera mobile not mini) 'active' when I'm streaming videos?
I mean, i tried to stream this 24-min video, so I waited until it completes buffering by turning the phone screen off, then doing other daily routines, leaving my phone on the table. When I turned it on again (after about 30mins of waiting), it only buffered 2mins/24mins of the video. My wifi sleep policy are always on 'never' so I guess it's not the problem. I also tried it on other videos/websites and also it's not a problem on my wifi router. Any solutions to this aside from upping the screen timeout to '30mins'?
If you've rooted your android, then try using Spare parts plus and blade buddy.. It has options to change the wi-fi sleep policy to 'never'..
Hope this helps..
Two big problems with my EVO 3D that are driving me crazy:
1. I have been having this streaming video issue for a few months now. No matter what streaming video service I use (although mostly YouTube or the G4TV app) the video will start to massively lag eventually. The timing is always different, sometimes its a minute in, sometimes its 10 minutes in, but it WILL eventually start to lag. The sound is still playing, but the video stutters or flat-out stops. And it turns out its not just the video, my ENTIRE PHONE lags when this happens, so much that the hardware buttons and touchscreen don't respond until about 30 seconds to a minute later. This only appears to happen when streaming video, already-downloaded video plays just fine off of the SD card. Half of the time Sense appears to crash when this happens too, since I see it restarting after I exit the streaming app. My cousin has an EVO 3D as well and this isn't happening to him, nor have I see anyone mention about this on Google ) the instances of lag I found were buffering issues. I don't have any idea where to begin finding out what is causing this, does anyone have any hints?
2. My G-Mail app stopped working. And I don't mean it stopped syncing like it has for others before, I mean it dosen't work anymore period. I can still launch the app, my accounts are still there, but NO new mail since Janurary 12 has shown up, manually choosing refresh does nothing. I tried rebooting my phone, and even clearing the Gmail app's data.... all it does now is say "Your email will appear shortly" ... its been saying this for about three days now. I can't even use G-Mail on my phone anymore! Help?

Are you rooted? If so, are you on a custom ROM? If yes, which one? On average a simple wipe fixes the problems you talking about. I can't say much about the streaming issue since I've never experienced it, but for the Gmail issue, go into Settings>Applications>Manage applications and find Gmail, then "Clear data". Once you set it up again the problem should go away (at least that's my experience).

As I said, I already tried that, didn't work.
Hi all,
I have a very slow DSL connection at home (40 Kb /sec) so I have to preload anything that has to do with video or audio.
Youtube on PC or laptop is a PITA with such a slow connection, but it works by letting the browser pre-load.
Now on my Andoid mobile devices (mainly Nexus 7 with stock 4.2.2, but also galaxy S2 phone) thos doesn´t work at all.
First of all, the youtube app is NOT able to keep my screen alive, so when I try to preload a video the screen switches off after the system set time (30 sec in my case). UNFORTUNATELY when I turn the screen back on the preloading has stopped and I have to start ALL over again.
So my only chance is to tap the screen every 30 seconds so the sceen does not run off
It seems even thugn the app has the right to prevent standby mode it is not possible to keep that network connection alive an preload in the background - is that a system fault (because Android resets all network conenctions when screen is turned off) or is that App just poorly programmed?
Man, it sucks the big hairy meat ball...

I think it may be a little of both; Android and YouTube's fault. The YouTube app should be able to keep screen alive. It also goes to sleep on my phone (Motorola Defy XT). The app is full of bugs and whatnot. Also, when the phone sleeps, because the app allows it, Android resets connections so you lose your pre-loaded data. I think YouTube should work on app compatibility more. You could also try the YouTube website in your browser instead of app. You can also change how long it takes for your device to sleep. :fingers-crossed:
I have Remix OS installed in dual boot with Windows.
Aside from the encryption not working (see my other posts), I have one other issue.
All the hardware works very well, including the WiFi. I can use it for reasonable periods / stream Netflix films etc.... but once the screen goes blank / it goes into standby the WiFi can't see any networks once it wakes up.
Is this a known issue - is there a workaround? or fix?
I am using a Cube i7 Book (skylake) if that makes a difference.
All the best,
Dan
Bump - in the absence of a solution - any trouble shooting advice would be greatly appreciated.
