[Q] Why does this Popup appears on my screen? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi/Hello
I own a Nexus 5 running Android 4.4.3 KitKat Stock with bootloader unlocked and Unknown Resources option activated.
I've got a bug or something, often a smiley face in a popup appears on the screen. I don't know what kind of app is causing this, I want to stop it, its annoying.

Help hiding the VPN icon in Touchwiz

In stock Android previous to 5.0 the VPN icon appears as an annoying persistent key in the top left like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
After 5.0 they moved it as a system icon to the right and it can be turned off or adjusted.
It looks like this:
It seems like in Touchwiz they never updated this and the key is still on the left. Even if you're using 5.1.1 (I assume 6.0 will be the same.)
---
2 Questions:
1) Without rooting, is there a way to remove or hide that icon?
2) Is there a way to file a bug or ticket with Samsung to let them know to fix this in the new Touchwiz? Or some other way of contacting them?
1) Long press on the notification and see if you can disable the notifications there.
2) ha Good luck with that.

It's "Android System"
Just have to live with it then.

Data usage in notifications

Hey, just a quick question. Before the Marshmallow update, you could monitor on the data usage in the notifications screen (see screenshot). It is not there anymore. Also it is not possible anymore to define the tracking cycle for data usage.
Am I blind our did they forget those options?

Yep its gone in missing it aswell. Im using My Data Manager app for now
Hmm, that blows. Was that an Android or a huawei functionality?
Don't know if that's the only missing item courtesy Marshmallow update on the Honor 5X but on mine it no longer shows the Download Progress Status arrow on any incoming. I can see it in Google Play but is missing from the top status area.
For me still shows the download status during updates
Same here. Only data usage is missing. Any idea where to report this?

It's not at all so critical to me but just missing during progress downloads, but can anyone suggest some setting that i might look at to test if i can re-enable it?

Why Micromax Stock launcher ( name launcher3) started Showing Ads ?

I have a device name Micromax Q424. From last 4-5 days I am getting full screen, middle screen and bottom of screen ads. There is nothing ads by option to tell who is giving those ads. Here is screen shot of ads
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The ads wasn't showing in notification bar so it was hard to find out who did it. Later i find out launcher S3 did this because ads file was in its android launcher3 folder. There isn't any option to disable this app. It is system app comes default in Micromax.
Firstly I thought it may be due to stock update apk because it is known to showing ads in notification bar. But later i found original one.
One thing i still didn't figure out is Why It is only showing ads from 9Apps? also it auto download the app without asking on Mobile data. I didn't visit 9apps website ever as i remember in past 1-2 years.
This is serious issue. Can anyone suggest why this happened? Why only 9apps ads?
Does 9apps own this stock apk now? If it is then its a big issue because if anyone buy the system apps like this from its maker then its a huge risk for user privacy.

Would you know how this affect battery?
ONE GR8 8
Still no, I setup it today and I had half battery already. Will see from tommorow.
I installed the update but now it keeps crashing, making the phone freeze completely for a short period. Anyone know of a way to roll back?

Not sure if it will work but try this:
Go to settings - applications - Always On Display, 3 dots and uninstall updates.

You have ad malware, from some app you installed.
Might want to try Malwarebytes for Android. I think the free version will help you find the offending app.
