the latest cyanogenmod alpha is a daily driver for me. people are having varying experiences. the best way is to flash it yourself and see if it works for you
thanks! kind of wanted to see what gb rom was the most stable now i guess...
Guys,
Hello to you all. Question to you all as I'm looking for the best, fast, stable, light, daily driver ROM for Galaxy 5. Also, a plus would be if it was still under development but...
Any advices?
Thanks!

I've been using Android 2.3.7 Stock-like for a while and it worked flawlessly.
Long battery life (48+ hours with moderate usage), fast and responsive functionality, minimalistic and, well, stock like.
Give it a go.
I'm currently testing the MegaRom which looks promising. Had some hickups during the first installation attempt (boot loop), then I got it working via Odin/CWM: installed the rom first, then the fix and did a data wipe/factory reset (just this) and reboot after that, works like a charm now.
Best ROM threads aren't allowed on xda.
Use the ROM's and come to a decision yourself.
If this was any other device forum, you'd be shot by now and the thread locked instantly.

+1 very good rom, excellent battery life
I've been using Android 2.3.7 Stock-like and it's working very well. Battery life is great!
Sometimes there are lags and reboots, but compared with ROM stock this ROM is excellent.
Hey guys I just purchased this one for my mother who is new to smart phones. I want to ask which rom is best for battery life and is stable? I searched on this forum and people were saying ICS Passion but that was a year or two ago and I saw that it is no longer supported. It was be awesome if you guys could recommend me a rom since my mom isn't much of a flash-a-holic so I don't want to flash each and every rom to test it for a day or two.
Thanks for the help.
*As compared to stock.
Since she's new to smartphones, I'd suggest a Froyo ROM. They have great battery life and simple to use interface. I can't say specifically which Froyo is better because I have JB. (Which I don't recommend for newbies.)
Well unfortunately the problem is almost every ROM is no longer coming out with new builds because they have moved on to new things. This means that they are all working on 4.2.1. Yet cm10 and hellybean are both very stable 4.1 ROMs. This is what I am running at the moment

I have a hard time believing someone actually recommended Passion.
I would go with either bionix (froyo) cm7 stable build or cm10. Don't flash a ICS ROM, you run the risk of EU bug.

Which is kind of a shame because ICS zen was of the best ROMs I've ever used... Agreed to the rest
Amen, ICZen is/was the bah-bah-zee!

Finally rooted again and wondering if someone could tell me if all or which of the touchwiz based ROMs have Netflix and sBeam working and if any of the 4.3 ROMs have Netflix working. Asking because on my last phone that was always a problem with the cm and aosp type ROMs. Ill eventually become a flashaholic again but for now just looking for daily driver worthy ROMs. Thanks in advance!

netflix works on all TW roms as for 4.3 AOSP roms, there is an apk you can flash that will make netflix work
Running 4.3 aokp 10/18 nightly. Netflix works without flashing additional files and I'm really liking this ROM
I heard a lot of good stuff about cayongen rom but got disappointed after flashing it. I have random restarts of the device...
what other rom would u recommend?
It depends upon personal preferences. But I have been using Archidroid for good part of last year. Try it. It's available in Touchwiz 4.3 and Kitkat.

If you like the touchwiz roms, I would say this one will be great for you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/rom-qs-i9300-kk-t2755841
it's a kitkat port from the note 2 and it works really great, stable and fast as hell
