[Q] Flashing monxDIFIED on Rooted Locked Bootloader? - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys quick question before i try it myself.
Is it possible (now with the full root and XZDR for locked bootloaders), to flash the monxDIFIED custom rom through XZDR and then flash the D6503_17.1.1.A.0.402_Stripped.ftf through flashtool to keep stock kernel and XZDR (or flash the flashable xzdr before rebooting)?
Will this work at all? Is it even possible to flash the monxdified custom rom on locked bootloader? (bootloader unlock allowed = no)

I think you should be asking this in the monxdified thread. But anyways, I just saw this reply from that thread:

for those interested in flashing this rom on locked bootloader devices here is how:
1-coming from 402 stock rooted enter recovery(twrp was the one i used), factory reset/wipe
2-flash monxDIFIED
3-dont reboot, flash dual recoveries again from recovery
4-dont reboot, power off system and flash stock kernel 402 with flashtools
done.
i have locked bootloader device working fine, with root, with this rom

Hi, i've now cm9 rc and a xperia neo unlocked and root.
I would like test the official rom from sony.
Do you have a link or a method for install this without lost the advantage of root and unlocked bootloader.
If not, what's the custom rom similar (and optimised) at the official..
Thanks a lot
:good:
Check general section, find my thread with .ftf and instructions how to root.

Erm, boot(or hot boot) kernel with CWM, flash zip, restart phone. Entire process for root-ing it on unlocked BL.
btw, you can't re-lock your BL by flashing custom rom, or by doing full flash with flashtool.

[Q] Root on unlocked bootloader

Hi!
I am new to rooting and flashing on Android. I have an Xperia S which is currently in repair for yellow tint/spots on the screen. When I get it back and know that it is working i will unlock the bootloader using the official method.
My goal is to have rooted gingerbread on the phone, maybe with a better kernel. I have found a prerooted ftf with the FW that I want. Can I just flash that one and it will work?
Do I have to install custom recovery?
Thanks in advance!
Have I understood it right? unlocked bootloader + flash prerooted system rom. That should work?
If I want to install custom rom I need custom recovery. I would appreciate if someone could verify this for me, thanks!

[Q][SOLA]-Some questions about flashing stock ICS .54 from eXperience v.1.1 by Divaks

Hi guys, i've unlocked my bootloader and i've rooted. I flashed eXperience v.1.1 by Divaksh (stock based) and i want to return to stock ics 'cause i want to try cm9.1. Now the questions:
1- Will i have locked bootloader again?
2- Will i lost my root permission?
and the last: can i flash stock ics via CWM?
thank you :good:
Nope. Bootloader is independent of roms & kernels so you wont lose Bootloader unlock
But you'll always lose root if you flash Stock. And if you want to flash with cwm, see if anyone has uploaded a CWM flashable zip for the firmware. Else you need to use Flashtool
Hope it helps
Cheers

So this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2030261 would work just wiping and flashing with CWM?
Thanks for your help :fingers-crossed:
Yes I believe that ought to work fine
Enjoy
Cheers
Thanks man but the stock ics flashed by CWM and pc companion said me i had to update the system even if it was already .54 version and any attempt to update failed because of my unlocked bootloader. The same firmware flashed by flashtool didn't need any update and finally allowed my to boot "pure blood" ROM. Thanks anyway :cyclops:

There's not much between DoggRom and stock, and that would be my preference, Just flash from recovery with a wipe
For pure stock you could read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2576006
Just flash .290 ftf for your device
then follow the first post.

If you are going the ftf route then there is no need to wipe before hand, the options are in flashtool (I just use default)
FTF's can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2453921

RootKit Questions

Hello
I have a few questions about the hole "thing" cause this is my first android phone and on apple there was just the option jailbreaked or not jailbreaked
My first question is about the bootloader.
since i was reading the thread "[FULL ROOT] Community RootKit! (ASEC vulnerability) {v01} [20140615]" i am asking me why should i unlock my bootloader when im able to get root without doing this?
Is there any special point for wich i need the unlocked bootloader or is it just written for the people who unlocked there bootloader already?
Then to second question is about the sequence.
Am i right when i
1. get root
2. install cwm or twrp
3. install custom rom?
by the way: is there any huge difference between twrp and cwm? because at the table "Kernels" there is the TWRP for the Xperia T2 Ultra and an unofficial version and from CMW is an unofficial version too? Wich should i use?
and my last question is should i wait for version 2 of the RootKit or are there just small differences?

Bootloader unlock is required to install Custom kernels like DOOMLORDS kernel. In case if you dont want that then no need to unlock BL.
Just follow this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784757 to get root on Locked Bl and then revert back to .402

A custom ROM is different from a custom kernel. Some custom ROMs do not require custom kernels (because they use stock kernel), but others do. So it really depends on the custom ROM that you want to use. Instructions and requirements will be posted in the respective ROM thread.
But if you want to use a custom kernel, then you will need to unlock the bootloader first.
And obviously, if you want to flash a custom ROM that needs custom kernel, then you will have to unlock your bootloader first.
Even if you want to flash a custom ROM that does not require a custom kernel, you need to first root the phone with the RootKit. Because flashing custom ROMs is usually done via recovery, and recovery installation requires root.
Hope the above is not too confusing.

So just to be sure.
I Run the toolkit for root
Then i take twrp or cwm
And then i flash a custom Rom wich use stock kernel
And that can i do with a locked bootloader?
What can be different in an other kernel?

Yes, run Rootkit, install recovery (TWRP/CWM) and then you can flash custom ROM which uses stock kernel.
Custom kernels allow functions such as overclocking, undervolting, etc.

Big thanks to you
Now i know that i can keep my bootloader locked.
Take note that by modifying your device you warrenty is voided and you can posibly brick your device
(brick meaning dead phone) aka brick

Or you can use the toolkit on .55/.69
Then follow Nuts thread and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784757
this would bring you back to .402 and have recovery installed by default on Locked bootloader

then i have 2 new questions
1. How can i downgrade my phone ? just download the fw and use flashtool?
got an iphone till now and there it was a hard work to do it ..
2. is there any difference between locked and uinlocked bootloader? i mean in the point of restoring so that i have my warranty back?
1. There's now an even easier way to root the 402 firmware that does not require you to downgrade first:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784900
But note this post, where you have to change something in the install.bat file for it to work on the Z2:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53480221&postcount=81
2. It's a little more work if your bootloader is unlocked and you want to relock it before sending it to the service centre. You need to have your TA backup before doing so. If your bootloader is locked, you just have to remove root via SuperSU before sending it in for service.
