I'm not really familiar with ROM cooking etc., but does this mean that kooks can optimize their ROMs?

It (probably) means that custom 4.4 ROMs (like Cyanogen and Omni) can become more stable and with less bugs. There have been long-standing issues with e.g camera and bluetooth. Hopefully these updated Samsung sources could contain some fixes.

Not of cause. Factory images are useful for Nexus devices only.
Our developers have to download the actual sources when available and merge all the kernel code and close source elements.
To have 5.0 with N7100 we need at least the full AOSP source and hope that 4.4.x kernel and other elements are compatible.

It is based on the AOSP coding with ALOT of changes and alot of recoding. So while it is based on the source code it is not pure AOSP.
Now I get it. Thank you very much zelendel :victory:
do they accept AOSP based kernels??? IE: I have CM 12.1 and want to use a KT aosp 5.1... Is that the correct conversion?
Thanks

No you cant. A pure AOSP rom doesnt have the theme engine and with the upcoming android version CM themes will no longer work due to RRO which is android own theming set up.

Well you should post this under the q&a thread. Well Miuiv5 is good and its based on sammys 4.1.2 and its not going to be update to newer android version unless someone make it based on cm. Cm is good to and cm10.2 is almost as stable as stock 4.1.2 if even. In general both roms are good if you like never android version and fast updates (everyday sinse Miui is updated every friday) go for cm but if you like interface and custominization go for Miui

[KERNEL] (007) Sense/GPE (3.4+Hybrid/UV/OC/Intelliplug/active/FauxSound) [08-02-2014]

HTC One 2014 AKA m8 Hybrid Kernel
What is a Hybrid?
Hybrid kernel means the core although still has the 3.4.0 kernel label, it has incorporated many advanced features available only on Linux 3.8+ and beyond. I have backported many of those advanced features for Linux 3.4, hence the name hybrid!

Faster and more stable, and kernel 3.10. CM has some problems such as bluetooth connection or suddenly get soft reboot, or some crazy issues when your device works for a long time without reboot. And I think have no reason for trying a unlocked bootloader ROM with kernel 3.4.

That is not pure AOSP. I am telling about AOSP 5.1.1 by FXP team..
Fxp team aosp 5.1.1 is alright but its camera is really bad and the rom has several performance issues
I'd love to switch from stock to cyanogenmod but i keep getting random soft reboots
Aosp is harder to port but provides a faster and smoother aswell as a more pure experience
Cm is easier to port but same as aosp, if not done properly then its not worth

It's not right. AOSP is more easier to port but it's not popular as well as CM so there're less developers do that.

I know Rajeev, had to do it often enough
Although I prefer the dd method from inside the phone. (terminal use also is beginning to be quite annoying with selinux and noexec-mounts, by the way...)

Official CM builds, as CM doesn't officially support devices that don't have kernel sources. Plus there's more chance of getting newer android versions in the future.
