[Xposed][MODULE][4.0+] XInternalSD - Xposed Framework Modules

Change path to internal SD card on OS level! Android Storage API tweaks.
This module changes path to internal SD card. .
You can: change path to internal SD which is returned by System API, change path to obb dirs, app files, download dir (you can have everything on SD card!)
Control it in app settings.
If you change it to internal sd card path (e.g. /storage/extSdCard on Samsung Phones) and your phone is running Android KitKat and later, please enable also this module: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/app-handleexternalstorage-t2693521 or this: http://repo.xposed.info/module/kz.virtex.android.sdcardfix (both do same thing well) [not needed anymore, module fixes it]

I think you copy & pasted the wrong headine to this thread. Maybe from your previous modules.
Isn't this causing huge trouble for all apps who rely on this path? Like saving files there? If the path is now change the app can't read it's files anymore. What is the usecase for this module?
Care to share the source code?

nice buddy thanks

Title fixed, thx.
Tested on Samsung phone with 4.2.2 - it works, no bug yet. Usercase? I switch /storage/emulated/0 to /storage/extSdCard
I know this is very experimental.
Source will be shared asap.

It mean i can change any internal folder location to external sd card?
Or to change full internal to external..
Is it safe to do this?

Any difference between this and HandleExternalSD ?

If you are app developer and you need e.g. save something on (internal) SD card, you need get path to internal sd card in the first place. You will use Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory() for that. Path "/storage/emulated/0" (real internal sd card) will be probably returned. This module hooks method Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory() and it now returns custom path. I changed it to "/storage/extSdCard" myself so apps will think that "/storage/extSdCard" is Internal SD Card.
If anybody can explain it better, please do it.
Module source: http://pastebin.com/VJ8CT5UR
If I remember correctly, HandleExternalSD solves KitKat SdCard breakage.

OK so for us Xposed enthusiasts to understand this when do we need it?

When app doesn't offer you where to save *some* files (app simply saves it in internal sd card).

So this gives us the option to re-direct save location to our choice?

So, if all the folders that normally would be saved in /sdcard/ partition are now saved in /extSDcard/, and if your phone or tablet has a tiny /sdcard/ partition like mine (only 3GB), then there's little room for photos and videos, or even music... and you're always struggling to get just a little bit of extra space... but applying this module solves that problem, since the videos and photos will be saved directly to the microSD card, which in my case is 32GB, so no more worries about making videos or taking pictures.
Also, /android/obb/ folder will be saved in MicroSD card, so you can now update your games if you couldn't before... and many other apps that save large amount of information on /sdcard/ partition (like Sugarsync or GPS applications) , and that I couldn't use before because I didn't have the free space available for them on /sdcard/... I can now use them since all the apps' folders are saved directly to the microSD, and there I have all the space I need!!

But it needs to be fix because not all data is reading from external!!

Yes, if you have KitKat, you need fix reading/writing from SDCard (google for app SDFix or use another awesome xposed module called HandleExternalStorage - link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/app-handleexternalstorage-t2693521)

<< this I meant as example usercase. This module will never show any dialog to choose where to save files.

Now i understand how to use this...
Great job @pyler.
I needed this for my 2 to 3 apps which has only file save location in internal memory. Now it get converted to extSdcard...
For them who are still in confusion..
This module replaces file save location from internal to extSdcard
But supports only in that apps which has location modification option only in internal sd...
For Example tubemate has only internalSdcard support in 4.4 ROM
I have used this module and location converted to extSdcard...
But u have to mention sd card path in module settings
Default is /storage/emulated/0 change it to /storage/extSdCard
This will not convert full internal sd card to extSdcard.... REMEMBER THAT

Yeah, I will have to change wording to avoid confusion.

Memory question and others

Hi, yesterday I bought the Galaxy Player 3.6 8GB. Now when I look at my available memory it's far from 8GB, so I have 4.73GB internal memory and Internal device storage I have 1.86GB. Already rooted so have delete some of the stock apps but every app I removed just gave me more internal device storage and I would rather have it as internal memory storage of course, Is there any way to do this?
My other question is that there is a lot of apps installed that are actually phone apps (dialer, etc) would this give problems if I remove these seeing as I will never use it to make phone calls.
Thanks in advance

There is a 2GB /data partition (where apps are) and a 5GB /sdcard partition (where your files are). You cannot combine them.

Stock apps are on /system. Apps from the market go in /data, unless you move them to the external SD, and then they will go there.

Assuming you are on CM10:
If you're looking in .android_secure, that is the app itself, and that bug is fixed with the latest kernel (uploading now).
Otherwise, you are looking at game data. To move that to external, uncomment the "switchablepair" line in build.prop and reboot. Note that any data in /storage/sdcard0/Android/data (mostly app cache) will not be moved, so you need to either copy it over before rebooting, or let it redownload.
For non-cm10 roms, all of the above applies except the bug and the exact line in build.prop. For example, some ROMs always have it uncommented, but have a line saying "ro.vold.switchexternal=0". In that case, change it to 1 to switch them.

for build.prop, i'm using this guide on how to access it (http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...ds-cse&usg=AFQjCNEe0O89F81Y5NpJ5mXVf7b4DRDO-g).
playing with this file seems a little dangerous. I'm using the following kernel and ROM.
[Kernel][JB][YP-G70] Mercurius v2
[ROM][YP-G70][JB]PARANOID ANDROID v2.57
I see the following in the build.prob. Is that ok, or do I've to change something?
Code:
You can tweak the next 4 properties
# Uncomment to switch internal and external storage
@ ro.vold.swtichablepair=/storage/sdcard0,/storage/sdcard1

[CONTEMPLATION] getExternalStorageDirectory

So, I make apps for android, and if anyone is familiar with it, the proper way to write to the storage is using Evironment.getExternalStorageDirectory(); this will return with the internal sd card location on devices with internal sd card.
Well, i decompiled the system files and found the method that is "getExternalStorageDirectory" and found how it creates it.
So, i can change it to return with the path to the ACTUAL external sd card. This means that every app that uses getExternalStorageDirectory will place EVERYTHING onto the actual EXTERNAL sd card. Thus freeing up the internal sd card AND the data partition allowing for more apps to be installed.
What are your guy's thoughts about this? I feel like it might work. However, if one doesn't have an external sd card, things could go very hay wire.
Yep, it will work for apps relying to this function.
There is such mod for Xperia Z for quite some time. You can look to that mod to simplify modding process

What path are you using to designate the external sdcard or how are you determining it?
The Thanks button is just to avoid "THANKS" posts in threads. Nothing more. Don't defeat the purpose of why it was introduced.

The mount point for the external sd card is /mnt/extSdCard
And there is another method that I can use to test for if it's mounted or not, and if it's not mounted, then revert to internal sd card. I'm hoping it works lol. Still haven't had time to mess with it though.

[Q] Problem with Link2SD

I need a little help i have a problem with Link2SD. I assign 500 mb to ext2 partition, and i have all my apps in the sd card, playstore, facebook and 2 others are linked. Well my problem is that, i have a notification for less space in internal storage :/ when i trying to install some new games ( well i have like 5 games installed already on the sd)... But is this the way to do it? Make sure user apps are are on PHONE before linking?
I'm using LinkSD and it saves me a lot of space in /data.
The way it works :
When installed, an app has three or four parts : the .apk file, the .dex file (in a deodexed ROM), the data folder and, eventually, one or more .so in /data/data/app_folder/lib
- If the app is in internal storage, every parts of it are in /data : .apk in /data/app, .dex in /data/dalvik-cache, data folder and libs in /data/data/name_of_the_app folder
- When the application is moved to sd Card, the .apk file is moved in /mnt/asec/, but the .dex and the data folder remains in internal storage (some applications may also have data in SD Card)
- When the application is linked, the .app, the .dex and the .so files are moved to /data/sdext2 (which is the place where the 2nd partition of the SD Card is mounted), only the data folder (without libs) remains in /data/data (internal storage).
So, the best way to save place in internal storage is to link user applications (no need to move it to internal storage first, it also works when the application is in SD Card).
All my 50 user apps are linked, and I still have 85 Mb free in /data.

It should work if your phone is rooted. There is no other way to move data at the moment. I also have NFS and Asphalt 7 and they work fine with the data moved to the external SD card. Here's a video how to use it.
I tried folder mount, it works but beware if you have an exfat formatted (if you format with the mega) sd card as it may be prone to corruption. I have now formatted it to fat32, and it seems more stable

Do a manual move by tapping + on the upper part of the app, give it a name and manually look for the source folder in the internal memory. The app will automatically generate a destination folder then tap the check symbol on top. You can do this with any app as long as you know where the data is located on the internal storage.

You can use a file explorer to see what folders are inside the internal storage. They are usually named appropriately e.g. Copilot app has a folder named com.alk.copilot.eumarket.primeumeupan in the internal storage and has all the data inside. Some apps are small so you won't find any folder for them as they are not required.

[Testing] Enabling Samsung Move Apps to SD Feature

I don't have Galaxy Mega. So anyone can help to test this Csc code to enable Samsung move app to SD feature?
Requirement:

2) Has CSC installed (system/csc available)
3) Has ext sd card
How to:

2) Open it with text editor
3) Add this code just before </FeatureSet></SamsungMobileFeature>
<CscFeature_Common_AllowExternalApkUsage>true</CscFeature_Common_AllowExternalApkUsage >
4) Save and exit
5) Set file permission to rw-r--r--
6) Reboot
7) Go to settings - apps manager
8) Try move a game to SD card

No problems with Foldermount, as I said I'm using it but it would be easier to just be able to select move to SD in app manager. Full marks to Arsaw for trying to help with that.
Sorry to bump but have there been any advancements in this area? Main reason I wanted to root was to move apps to the SD card but I'm finding it very hard to find anything that will allow me to do this.
Also tried the above and received the same message.
As far as I can tell the only thing that seems to work is FolderMount, but from what I can see this only moves app data to the SD card and not the actual application itself?
Any news from Samsung if the app2sd support will be heading our way as well as the S4?
