Lost IMEI and no backup??
I have found a very simple way to rewrite the IMEI on my Lenovo P780.
No backups or extra files needed.
It works for both 8GB and 4GB versions
Requirements
Rooted phone with any working ROM installed.
You can install stock rom from stympy's thread in P780 General section.
You can use Framaroot to root the phone under Boromir method if on stock rom.
MobileUncle MTK Tools installed on ROM
Steps
Download the attached zip file and extract the file.
Open
Press Y
Enter IMEI for SIM 1 and then enter it for SIM 2 when asked.
A IMEI.bak file will be created in the same folder where you placed the imei software.
Now copy the IMEI.bak to your sd card or phone.
Open mobile uncle tools and select IMEI backup and restore
select and restore it from sd card.
DONE!!! :victory:

Hello
I have a China Mobile galaxy gs3 i9308, and the imei no. was changed to 0000000000000/null because of rom flashing (I think).
Now I am not registered on the network, so I have to change the imei no. back.
I tried several tutorials online, but seems like they're only for the galaxy s.
I tried the 9 step guide but I can't find the .nv_data file in my efs folder.
Can anyone help me or point me in the right direction?
Thank you

Thanks for the quick reply. But I followed the written version of the guide and it only works for galaxy s? Because in my nv_data.bin file there's no line 00188008 in hex editor.
this is the link to that thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881162
The video poster also said it only worked for galaxy s.
Any other ideas?
hey, I have the same problem, SGS3 with wrong imei 0049.... i lose my efs file, someone can help us?
You could try flashing stock rom, heard that this sometimes restores imei, not sure if it works on s3
Also, check if the rom or kernel you flashed created a eggs backup, some do
Sent via TCP/IP
Please help
i have the same problem i cant fix my imei, after flashing the phone it changed to 00499.. it made no backups and no nv_data.bin.bak
If the efs folder havent been backed up, what can i do? I tried changing the nv_data file like some tutorials here explain, but no luck(tried couple of times, it defently not compatible with my galaxy s3), i believe these tutorials are for erlier galaxies.
Please help!
Thank you

Try this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801997
Did you back up the efs folder before you flash your device?
I understood that imei numbers were hardwired into the phone. And changing them n having the equipment was illegal. This is what the networks use to bar your phone if it gets stolen.

I don't know about international S3 but here in USA IMEI is not located in EFS folder.

This program was created not to spoof IMEI just to restore if you have problem with it.
How to restore your IMEI number on SGS3 (GT-i9300)
I deleted my IMEI number when flashing roms a few days ago and it was showing as 000000...
I searched everywhere for a recipe of how to restore it and could not find one that would work. The closest that I got was a brilliant post (see link below) describing how to restore the IMEI on a SGS2 i9100. After following this recipe, I was able to restore my IMEI number to 0049 .... which is just as useless as 0000....
It took me a couple of days of research (and HUGE thanks to everybody whose previous research I was able to use) and I finally succeeded in restoring my IMEI using the 9 step process that I describe below. I can't guarantee that it will work and I do not know if it will work on any device besides the SGS3 GT-i9300 (international SGS3), because this is the only device that I have and was able to test the process on.
Links:
Restore IMEI on SGS2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1264021
Download EFS PRO: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1308546
Download your original firmware using check fus downloader (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032437&page=18)
You need:
-EFS PRO, a brilliant little program for Windows used to backup / restore the efs folder as well as recover / repair the nv_data*.bin files.
-Windows
-Windows USB drivers
-Rooted SGS3
-Root explorer.apk
-Original phone firmware (actually, you only need the modem.bin file, so once you download your firmware package, you can just extract the modem.bin file).
-Odin or Heimdall
Your phone's IMEI number is stored in the ".nv_data" file in the original shipped efs folder.
Process:
1. make a copy of your EFS folder using root explorer and store it somewhere safe (on your SD card and external SD card should do it).
2. delete the EFS folder from the root of your phone using root explorer.
3. reboot the phone
4. open root explorer and go to the EFS folder (yes, it is still there! The Android OS has generated a new one for us) and delete the following files:
nv_data.bin
nv_data.bin.md5
nv.log
.nv_data.bak
.nv_data.bak.md5
nv_data.bin.bak
and the entire IMEI folder.5.Now go to your backed up EFS folder on your sd card and copy the IMEI folder and the " .nv_data" file (note the dot) to your new EFS folder.
6.Make another copy of the ".nv_data" file in your new EFS folder. Rename one of them to "nv_data.bin" and the other one to "nv_data.bin.bak".
7. Connect your phone to your PC and start up EFS PRO. After your phone has been detected, press the "Repair nv data" button to correct the ownership and permissions.
8. Reboot your phone into recovery mode using the three botton combo and flash the original modem firmware (the modem.bin file that you extracted earlier) to your phone using Odin (use the "phone" button for the upload) or Heimdall (use the "radio" partition for the modem.bin file upload).
9. Reboot the phone normally and your IMEI number will be restored and you will be able to connect to your mobile network again
Good luck and let me know how it goes

Hi there
You need YOUR IMEI number back (which is not 00000... or 0049...) it is the one under your battery.
If you followed all the steps, then it should have worked.
One extra thing that you can try is if you did not flash your original phone firmware (and you only flashed the original modem.bin file) then do this step first.
And then work through the 9 step process, ignoring the step where you flash your original firmware (because you will have already done it).
Good luck and let me know when it works

Method 2:
In this method we're going to root the device using Framaroot.
Requirements:
1. Canvas HD of course
2. Framaroot application
Link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/tojh3b1ofyeet52/Framaroot-1.6.0.apk?m
3. CWM
Link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/97mqt4gvbyekacf/recovery.img
4. MobileUncle MTK Tools:
Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobileuncle.toolbox&hl=en
Sources and thanks:
1) Thanks to XDA i've taken a lot of resources from XDA.
2) Thanks to developer of motochopper.
3) Thanks to developer of mobile uncle tools.
4) Thanks to micromax for a beautiful device.
5) Taken help from google.
How to root:
1. Install the Framaroot application( If you don't know how to install it then follow this.Go to the location where you've placed the app click it then then click install that's it).
2. Open it. Now Select the option "Install SuperSU" and hit Boromir.
3. Reboot your Device
Voila is is rooted!!!
Verification:
If you see an app named super su then it means you've successfully rooted if you still have a doubt then check with Root Checker (a free app in playstore), if your device is rooted or not.
Install CWM Recovery:
1. Install mobile uncle tools, remember it require root access to work properly.
2. Place the CWM image in the root of your sd card. Now what is Root , root layer is the top most layer. That is just open the SD card and place it there itself do not place it inside a folder or sub folder only then mobile uncle tool can recognize it.
3.Open Mobile uncle tools and select the option Recovery update.
Now you'll see the file you placed in your sd card ,now click it and then click ok. Now it will ask "boot into recovery mode" click yes and now you are in CWM recovery!
Note: If you have connected to internet while doing this you may get loads of other options after clicking recovery update don't worry just click the one you placed in sd card. verify the name twice.

Congrats ,
I don't understand your first question if you're asking if taking backup will be helpful then definitely yes it will be, because in case you mess up while installing a ROM then you can flash the backup and revive your phone. But at the time of unrooting..... don't understand this part.If you mean while unrooting if it will be helpful it has nothing to do with rooting or unrooting but having a backup is always safe and good.
I would not recommend that way, if you want to use your external sd card as the main one that is if you have a sd card whose memory is more than 4 gig and if you want to use it as your default internal sd. For example you have a 32 gig card and if you want your internal sd to be 32 gig then just swap the cards simple transferring .... is not recommended as in future you may experience some issues.
Just work on your spellings!

Ok I have found out entirely new way of restoring backed up IMEIs.
Many members think that MobileUncle Tool can backup and restore your IMEIs but you are mistaken friends, I have already tried, it does backup your IMEIs but doesn't restore the IMEIs.
If you are rooted then its better to backup your IMEIs as we all root to experiment with our device. Most of the advance member must be knowing the location of IMEIs in MTK devices, its in Data>NVRAM>md>NVRAM>NVD_IMEI, so just to be on safer side just copy entire NVD_IMEI folder on a safe place in SD card or in your computer. If you don't have backup of your IMEIs but do have backup of your ROM, then you can extract your NVRAM folder from backup as well. Just open the data.ext4.tar.a in 7zip and extract the NVRAM folder from there.
Though IMEIs can be written via Engineering Mode but sometimes it doesn't work without formatting the entire device. And formatting erases all the MAC IDs and then you have to use SN_Station to write your MAC IDs, and using SN_Station is really very painful.
So first try Engineering Mode, if it doesn't work then you are actually in trouble, now you have to write your IMEIs using one or the other IMEI writing application, but in this method you don't require any app apart from SP Flash tool.
Here is the method that too in just two lines.
1. Overwrite your backed up NVD_IMEI folder @ data>NVRAM>md>NVRAM folder, you might have to change the permissions in root browser, I prefer ES File Explorer.
2. Once you paste that folder successfully just flash your ROM normally using SP flash tool. Reboot your device and you would get your IMEIs back.
Enjoy.....................
This works dude.... I have tried it.. Thanks a tonne

First you have to overwrite the NVD_IMEI folder and then flash the stock ROM using SP Flash tool, your would get the IMEIs back.

here i am posting here because i cant post on Miscellaneous Android Development , how ever i think i post there before while working on B5512
I Just got new G700 it came with B115 middle east channel , phone is good but as a start is there is a update i must ask my self is root ready , and CWM for sure so i start the digging
@chamaruco thank you for your great thread which saved and helped many people
now i got a file and i think you were looking for it ""G700-U10_V100R001C00B124CUSTC432D001_Firmware_Portugal_Channel-Others_4.2.1_EMUI 1.8_05021LMW.zip"" it contain usb upgrade and sd upgrade with drv and flash tool
i notice EMUI 1.8 not 1.6 which i saw for example a permission manager with it on P6 is that here in that rom too ?
is that rom improved than mine b115 phone is good for first look but
(in B115)
1-camera quality is strange i dont mean bad but it look very strange it is like very poor on quality
2-in call volume is too low in my opinion all " in test mode"
Question now did any one get that update "EMUI 1.8 B124" can tell is there is any improvements ?!
Question am i able to flash CWM image directly with flash tool to save some annoying procedures ?!
a member here provide flasher and cwm.img and orginal recovery.img
i did not work with the phone yet need to shift data from old phone remove ext2 part and prepare for change , and feeling lost here
want to strike it all once
i will upload "EMUI 1.8 B124" soon as it came from a private server
any suggestions are welcome
When you install 1.8 you will notice there is only a tap error from uploader..it is a 1.6 emui. That's all.
Hello
some info to add
incase of softbrick the phone and unable to flash using spflash tool and receive " not allowed , forbidden "
solution
inside the usb upgrade >> flash "Rework-Secro" using scatter in same folder then you will be able to use download mode again
how to install this firmware i.e. B124 on G700-10

chamaruco; Thanks for the best of the best user guides you have been making for all of us, but what i want to know is to be able to install the B124 into my phone i.e. G700-10, i have rooted my phone using farmaroot, made a back up of my factory shipped OS and make all my data backup safe through Hisuit, have downloaded the firmware B124 Purtogal version, extracted the zip, (it is now carrying META-INF, boot.img, cust.img, logo.bin, sdload.log, system.img) i have made a folder in my SD card named dload and copied the files in it, uninstalled mobileuncle, reinstalled new mobileuncletool, copied my backuped recovery.img into my SDcard and somehow installed the recovery in to my mobile,
now please show me the way forward, what i need to do and how, please step by step if you kindly can. please.

But my mobile does not boot into CWM recovery mode as i have seen in my previous Qmobile A8 it always restarts in the defualt recovery mode which only give options to "1. reboot, 2. update from SDcard, 3. update from cashe, 4. wipe/delete user data and wipe/delete cache and in the last there is a calibarate TP, AND OFF COURSE THESE ALL ARE THE ANDROID BUILTIN RECOVERY STEPS NOT OF THE CWM
And off course there is not any file or folder named update.app in the downloaded .zip/extracted file. "as i have mentioned above the folder contains a folder named META-INF and three img files named as boot cust and system while a .bin file named logo too.
THANKS FOR YOUR TIME AND HELP.

So after I select the Reworked scatter file there is only the sec_ro partition checked to flash. So after flashing it do I now select the previous scatter file and then flash everything (including preloader)?
Hello everyone!
My NX507J, after partitioning procedure and some my mistake, has lost IMEI, IMEI2 and MEID. :crying:
I haven't got nv backup, so, I don't know how to do!
Is it possible to use a nv backup from an other NX507J and restore my phone with it changing the IMEI code with a qcn file reader??
So, if it is possible, does someone have got it for me?
Thanks in advance
Alessandro
I have the same problem after using cwm 12, i played around with the build.prop and it went into a boot loop, i took it to an expert to put a brand new imei on it, after it is done ill ask exactly what he did and inform you too.

Do you have the "Nubia Backup" folder in your root directory (from when you did the update) ?. If you do its possible in fact easy to recover.
Cheers

Did you resolve? I have the same problem.. There aren't backups..
Hey,
I have the same problem and I cannot restore my settings. In fact my sim card is not recognized and I have no network.
I have the c://nubia backup folder that has zip files inside. In the zip there is an nv.qcn , bluetooth.txt wlan.txt 1.persist etc
What should I do in order to restore my imei? I have tried with the nubia updater by pressing on the icon and although it says succesful and the phone reboots it's in the same condition. When I try with nubia tool studio i can only choose a folder and not a file. So I have tried by extracting in a folder and connecting it there buts says no xml file found.
Also, do you think it has to do with a different rom on phone than the one that the backup had been made?
