Hei Guys,
there are already a few threads about this Topic, i.e. :
[Q] How fast does it the charging dock actually charge?
Charging dock for $15.50
Xperia Z2 Dock and Car Dock
Aluminum Magnetic USB Charging
Now there is one more, with a Poll! Why?
I want a thread where people could post if they have problems of slow charging with their docks/magnetic plugs. Important is to mention what ROM/Kernel you use and where they bought the charger. Also don't forget to mention what wallcharger you use, as most dock/cable come with USB connector only.
i'll make the first step:
i bought this dock from Ebay for 9 bucks.
Using Stock .402 Firmware with some xposed modules and Doomkernel v09
Official 1.5A Sony Wallcharger for europe and the same Cable into the MicroUSB port!
it takes around 7hours to charge from 1% to 75% ! Way longer than via microUSB port on the phone.
here a few pictures from the inside of the dock.... it's just a magnetic plug placed right^^

I want an other option that says "Yes I have a magnetic charger but the plug got torn off by the magnet". Other than that when it actually worked it was really fast.

I've the Sony dock, it's charging fast whatever the charger.
I've a magnetic cable/plug (sony is written on it but I think it's actually noname), it's charging slow with the stock charger (1.5A), but with 2A chagers (I've 2 differents ones), it's quite fast.
I should do timed experiments but I'm too lazy
Just got the sony dock and have a slim case. The magnet is too weak and the dock won't allow it to connect to my phone. It's very shallow also so the phone falls back.
I also got a cheap ebay dk36 knockoff. It seems to charge normally but I haven't timed it yet.
With my 1.8A blackberry charger I believe my phone charged via USB direct from 15%-97% in about 2.5hrs. Is that normal?
When my battery runs down I'll check how long it takes to do the same on my knockoff dock and let you guys know.
My knockoff looks legit though. I have the dk31 official dock and the plastic inserts fit like a glove. I want to say I have an oem knockoff just without branding. 'Twas a pretty good knockoff for $8

Okay so I plugged my Blackberry 1.8A charger into my knockoff dock today and went from 13%-98% in 2.5 hours so it looks like the dock I bought is not as crappy as the OP's lol. Look like mine is just a pass thru for the charging cable which is perfect. Like I said I also have the OEM DK-31 and my knockoff is identical in build quality to the OEM part which leads me to think I got just an unbranded Sony dock. Another thing I noticed is that the DK-30, 31 seem to all be the exact same minus the little insert they include with each one. The DK-36 is like the others but has no built in usb cable which I prefer because then the cables I actually have are what control the power I'm sending to the dock.
Here is the one I bought.

Anyone been able to find a genuine Asus Car charger? I have several DC to USB adapters but when I plug them in the Prime doesn't register a charging battery. There are after market ones but I'm afraid they may not work like the ones I have tried.
Most car chargers are in the 5V range, while the Transformer Tablets need a 12V charger. Not sure where to find those though, but I've never looked. I just use an inverter and whichever AC charger I need if I'm in need of power.

I purchased the one from Amazon and when I plug it into my Prime, the prime locks up. Has anyone else encountered this?

The Prime needs 15v in order to register charging status. Most care adapters will only deliver 5v since that is the voltage expected by most USB devices. The Prime will charge from 5v however the device will need to be completely turned off, and it will take a long time (~20ish hours) to go from depleted to full charge.
I don't know if there are any 12v to USB adapters that will really meet the power requirements for full-charging the Prime because the Prime's power requirements are fairly unique. If you really need to charge your Prime from your car you might be better off using the Prime's normal charger with something like this: http://www.amazon.com/BESTEK-inverter-motolora-blackberry-notebook/dp/B003Q54V88/ref=pd_sbs_sg_1
They are available on ebay, you will probably have to import one from hong kong, it is essentially a 12V to usb adaptor, the one I bought was packed with a asus plug aswell. It puts 12volts onto the usb adaptor.
The prime does not need 15V to charge, it will charge at about 11.8. Mine charges fine in my car with the engine running i.e alternater putting out 13.2 volts but the prime starts spitting a dummy when the engine stopped as the battery voltage is right on the threshold. The only way around is to shut down the prime before stopping the engine and then it will happily continue charging on ~12 volts.
The Prime requires 15v to charge at a normal rate. It will charge at 12v albeit at a slower rate. Normal USB output is 5v.

Hence this one feeds 12V to usb rather than 5V

Yes, I bought the same one and my Prime locks up and reboots a few times. Never tried it again after it did that.
I played around with the cable which came with the car adapter and found that it would not work with the transformer prime. I hope to test the cable with came with the TP and the car adapter. Will report my findings later.

I did this test this morning (using actual asus cable) and my Prime just went into a reboot loop. i was able to get it back after a while. I'm returning mine. I don't think this item should be on the accessory list. Unless i just got a bad one...

I hacked one together based on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1087321
I used the 100W transformer pictured towards the bottom. It also has a regular USB so I can charge two things at once.
I'm glad I carry a dc-ac converter in my car. Just need to get another cable / adapter.

Update: 3/27/2012
Please stay away from this charger. It is very badly filtered charger, causing electronic disruptions that probably will cause permanent long term damage to your device. If you have already bought it, try to return for a full refund or throw it away. DO NOT use it on your precious device.

Just ordered a couple of these puppies. Will report later if they work or not.
I'm in the market for another charger. Curious to see if this works (don't see why it wouldn't). Keep us updated!
why the hell do they make 3.25ft cable, nice find
I picked up the 6' usb cable w/o the charging block by the same seller for $10.
Nice find op, Thanks!!
Just order the 6foot cable and the 3 foot charger. Here is hoping it was money well spent.
i ordered the 6 foot cable, the cable from asus store is only 5 foot sweet.
Curious to see if this works. Reply back as soon as you can. Also, make sure that it doesn't keep trying to charge the transformer after it's got a full battery.
The seller claims I can return these within 14 days for any reason. So, I'll be testing the chargers very thoroughly. Don't worry.
Actually, I plan to cut and solder in longer wires. You'll see.
when you cut and solder the wires, try to power something like a video receiver http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-2Ghz-4xCh...834?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item415f4f87aa
and look at the video on the screen. if it has lines across it the psu is all noisy and you should add some ferrite rings or a full LC filter.
it's probably clean enough to charge teh tablet but i don't like fluctuations.

plus this is just a 12v out psu doesnt the tf need 15v??? what a waste, this is a $4 power block with a usb cable

Says contains a chip which determines when bat is charged then goes to trickle. That circuitry is built into tab and is not necessary and might actually screw up TF charge controller. Also how clean is DC

I have found that power supply suppliers occasionally make the goofy statement because a number of people are stupid enough to think that the LiIon and liPo battery charging is totally controlled by the external supply. So they will only buy a stock charger out of fear that anything else will overcharger the battery. Thus the goofy comment by the suppliers.
Just got the 6ft cable and the 3 foot charger today and they both work perfectly. The first time i plugged it in i had to give it alittle extra push but then after that it plugs in just fine. I love having the 6 foot cable to use with the OEM charging brick its so nice! and the 3 foot charger is nice in a pinch if something were to happen to my original charging brick.
Recieved today. Works. But there's a weird side affect. While plugged in, touchscreen does not respond to touch. As soon as unplugged, touchscreen responds again. Weird.

Hey guys, just wanted to know if anyone could recommend a brand that offers 2.0 quick charge on the go. I did some homework and the names Powermod and PureGear seem to pop up the most. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance
I had the powermod and it was slightly too small for my car outlet so if you bumped it then it would stop charging. I think I had a lemon but anyway I bought the incipio one and haven't looked back
Also, can I use any USB cable to receive the turbo charge? I'd hate to keep hauling around cables from my house back into my car.

I have this and it's great. It's got a very low profile, came with a flat cable, has an LED light (albeit not very visible), and definitely charges quickly. Highly recommended.

I use this one as well. Any USB cable will work. I tried an old ASUS cable with my wife's Note 4 and it said a quick charger was enabled. That flat gray cable it comes with is really stiff and I drive a manual so it was always getting in my way when shifting. I switched to an old USB cable I have that's more floppy.
This doesn't sit flush with the port though even though the design makes it kind of look like it does. It sticks out about a centimeter or so. It would be super hard to get out of the vehicle if it sat flush.
Thanks for all the replies! i've decided i'm gonna go with the PureGear
http://www.amazon.com/PureGear-Qualcomm-Charge-Extreme-Charger/dp/B00QQPG57K
Pretty cheap on amazon and I like the design, will report back with my opinion on how it works
Sorry for resurrecting an old thread but does anyone know a very good quick charge 2.0 car charger with at least 2 USB ports? One port could be quick charge 2.0 and the other port could be normal or whatever.
I saw the choe one that has 4 points but its getting mixed reviews and I don't think I really need 4.
Thanks guys.
Yes just buy a power converter and use the OEM wall fast charger that came with phone.
Definitely not trying that in my car....
There made for cigarette lighters. Its perfectly normal. Most new cars have them built in.
I wanted to get the Ventev dashport charger, but they seem to be out everywhere, or ridiculously expensive in the places that do have them.
I want to try and get one thats as flush with the socket as possible, because theres already very little room in that spot in my car.
Found these two:
Aukey 4.8A / 24W Dual USB Car Charger Adapter for Apple and Android Devices (The Smallest but Most Powerful Car Charger in the World)
SCOSCHE USBC242M 12 Watt USB Car Charger for iPhone/iPad/iPod Lightning/Micro
I admittedly don't know much about, and neither of these are QC2. I was just wondering if anyone has used, or knows if they would work good. Would there be much of a diff between them and a QC2 one?
I was wondering if anyone has found a good portable wireless charge?
I might just take the risk and get either...

FWIW, these will not charge the Pixel 3 at 10w. The Pixel 3 does not support qi fast charge; it uses a proprietary technology.
So just so you all know, slow wireless charging is like 300-500mah... The pixel charger is like 400-600. It's not that much of a difference other than what the phone says fast or slow.

slow charging is actually better in this case: Less heat from induction.
Question for anyone using wireless charging. Those magnetic car phone holders need a metal plate on the back of the phone. Does that plate interfere with wireless charging for you guys?

Just for data point purposes. I tried it in a BMW F80 M3 and the wireless charging works even with a Scosche metal plate in the back of the phone. It's the smaller plate.

Of course it charges "slowly" because it's not a Google charger. When are they releasing the patch to allow fast charging for other chargers? This plate chargers an iPhone X quickly, so it should have enough juice.

Only if the plate sits right over the charging coils - I have the Nillkin Magnetic Wireless In-Car Charger https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B07CHKW7Q2 and it has a thin U-shaped metal plate that I have stuck to the inside of my Pixel 3 case. I just love the cables of WSKEN. I use them on most of my devices.
So also on the MI9... But sometimes I had more battery drain than other times.
I found the problem through BBS. The WSKEN connector activates a kernel wakelock. Which uses lots of energy.
It declares why I have it sometimes because I don't use the connectors all the time.
Now i am on Xiaomi.eu rom. Can other users on different rom with maybe the same cable report if they have the same or not?
Thanks.... It's a shame i can't use it anymore now I know this.

Where do you think the leads of the wireless charging coil goes to?? [emoji848]. And wireless charging generates more heat.
And let's not talk about efficiency.... Wireless charging is around 60% so 30-40% of the energy got lost.
And the wireless charger I have got is very noisy.
I'm not unlocked and rooted so I can't use BBS, but I've got the WSKEN X1 and I haven't noticed a dramatic battery life.
EDIT : There is indeed a wakelock. I believe it might be due to pins being shorted by design. Like CC1 & CC2 (plug detection) being on all the time, and the phone constantly asking ("yes, who is it?") and getting no answer.
I'm writing to WSKEN about this (and dual magnetic cables) to see if it might be fixed in the future.
I use wsken cable for my mi 9, but most of the time it doesnt charge my phone, sometime it does.
The cable works perfectly on my micro usb plug, but not on my type-c plug (for wsken mini1 & mini2)
I've tried the cable and the type-c plug on another phones (not mi 9) and it works perfectly.
But my phones charge normally with the oem cable.
Anyone can help?
Sorry for bumping an old thread.
I'm using WSKEN mini 2 cable and the USB-C adapter on my Mi 9 which works flawlessly, no drainage and the phone charges every time.
So @24ilham I think that you might have a faulty USB-C adapter.

The drain is not very noticeable, but I got it too and decided to remove the USB-C Plug.
As I said in my edited post, I believe this comes from the 4x4 USB lines on the outside being fused towards the USB-C inside, which got 8x8 pins. To be reversible, I believe they are shorting VBUS and CC1 or CC2, and since it's used for Power-Delivery negociation, the phone is constantly asking "Ok, you're a PD Charger, what are you capable of?"
Unfortunately, the plug is too small for me to test removing a CC2 pin, and trying to find if it fixes it.
Someone with a lot of patience could try to use a USB-C cable with splitted CC2 wire to extend a plug, but... a lot of trouble.
@24ilham I believe you have a faulty USB-C plug as well, I have never had a problem with mine.
