Can I root SGH-I747M?

So I was looking to do a basic root and I noticed that my model number is very different then what it's "supposed" to be. I was going to do the CF-root... Am I still good to do it?
No, go to your specific carrier phone thread, never flash ROM and kernel from international Galaxy S3 for any carrier phone , they have different hardware. Better doing nothing than sorry.

What about posting questions to q&a section in the future? Anyway, you can not continue as you have one of the us versions (att if I remember correctly) with qualcomm snapdragon. Look for the us version thread.

Good Luck!

I know it's not your problem but....

I have recently pre ordered a S3 for Verizon and we have come to find out that Verizon themselves have locked the handsets bootloader. This is a huge shame and is downright sinister.
There are quite a few people working on cracking the bootloader but as of now we have not gotten very far. If ANY of the talented minds that make up the International S3 forums would be willing to help the cause, it would be greatly appreciated.
I will post links as soon as I can to threads as I am using the xda app on my phone. But for now if you would like to help, go to the Verizon galaxy s3 development forum and check out all of the bootloader threads.
There is also a petition being signed to make Verizon unlock the bootloader and free out device.
(will post link soon to petition, it's in the general sub forum for the time being tho)

Signed, Goodluck.
Closed, try asking in the US SGS3 section rather than this one, these phones are the same in name alone.

Canadian s3

Hey I just recently got the s3 , model is sgh-1747m. It's the Canadian version. Just wondering how to root it, and whichbforum I should visit for development - the original s3 forum or the regular one?
Thanks

[Q] Roms etc. Help

I recently purchased the galaxy s3 and am quite happy with it, put adw launcher pro made a few tweaks got the jellybean update and am satisfied with everything it does.
My question is what is the need for flashing new Roms or rooting the device? What is the purpose and benefits?
I'm new to all of this and would love some briefing!

You would be better off asking here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1708
This forum is for International Galaxy S3 I9300, not I535 Verizon. Anything you do from these forums can brick your device. Good luck and welcome aboard!
I appreciate the reply, I tried re posting this post on that thread but it said the forum is closed. Do not many have the samsung gs3 for Verizon?

Fact is advice or firmware from this forum may brick a phone that is not a I9300 .

I seem to be getting no help around here (debloating questions)

If anyone is interested and able to help if you could please reply to this topic that would be great. I've had many questions over time that all get over looked, despite no Google-able straight answers to be found.
Thanks. Im on a galaxy s5 neo

I'm not a new member though... Have asked for help on the forum specific for my device to no avail. I then decided to ask in this more generalized area hoping someone would be willing to help.
The questions I have are actually not newbie questions they're pretty complex I would say.

Bloat ware on Samsung devices are more or less the same, you can look at any of the several lists for the s5 that are available all over the place including right here on xda. Pretty simple, especially since you claim you're not a noob!
