Ainol Novo 7 Venus - Best Rom ? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi! I know this device maybe outdated but would still like to know what is the latest and best Rom for Ainol Novo 7 Venus? I remembered that I updated the firmware to 4.2.2 and after a while, the device is now super lag. I thinking of installing a new rom which is faster and more stabler. Please Advice. Thank! Also, please point me to where I could get the software and tutorial to install it. Cheers!

On his post its written:
"This is a flashable zip, no need computer with pad tool to flash this firmware.
You can flash this rom over all firmware's.
-You need TWRP to flash this rom.
-Put rom (sa_$SA_VERSION-$DATE-$BUILD_NUMBER-$DEVICE_MODEL.zip), gapps (gapps-jb4.2-20140911-unofficial.zip) on sdcard or sd-ext.
-Turn on the tablet into recovery mode.
-Then select "Factory reset" from "Wipe" menu.
-Flash rom (sa_$SA_VERSION-$DATE-$BUILD_NUMBER-$DEVICE_MODEL.zip), gapps (gapps-jb4.2-20140911-unofficial.zip).
-After inscriptions "Successfully" select "Reboot system".
-Firmware installed!"
I dont have my lappy available at the moment to flash any firmwares. So just wondering, will I brick the device if I leave it the way it is, its already using 2gb app storage patched firmware.

there's an update from shark android, i'll post a link to the rom and gapps here.
Link to rom: https://www.dropbox.com/s/co5i8147g1o6lpc/sa_4.35-20140912-stable-shadow.zip?dl=0
link to gapps: https://www.dropbox.com/s/upfv9tl9gqu8d2l/gapps-jb4.2-20140911-unofficial.zip?dl=0
Here are the instructions:
1 Download firmware, put on sdcard, or on sd-ext.
2 Go to TWRP, select Wipe -> Factory Reset (We need to move the slider.)
3 After Wipe select Install, then select sa_ $ SA_VERSION- $ DATE- $ BUILD_NUMBER- $ DEVICE_MODEL.zip and move the slider to "Swipe to install", the process will start flashing!
4 After saying "Successful", click on the house, click "Install", then select gapps-jb4.2-20140911-unofficial.zip and move the slider to "Swipe to install", the installation process will begin informal Google applications!
5 After installation, click "Reboot system" to reboot.

How can I install them afterward, since there is no market app?

Hi,
I got it to work.
I applied the gapps from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933989 using clockwork and then the Market app was installed.
When I started the market app for the first time I was prompted for which gapps I wanted to install

Yes U neeed to install the 3G modem update(this installed the 3g modem drivers) and after set the carryer apn setings.
Hi,
Where can I find the 3G modem update files?
I thought they were supposed to be applied in the ROM
After update Folio 100 to CyanogenMod 7.1.0-RC0 I can't update to other ROMs, for example FolioMod1.4 because after the update to FOlioMod the screen is black.
Any ideas?
I have a bricked Folio because any changes that I made, for example, I select language to Spanish and change wallpaper and after one reboot, the wallpaper isn't the wallpaper I selected before and the language is again in English.
I can say that CyanogenMod bricked my Folio, I can't do anything with this.

I tried this with FolioMod 1.4 and had the same problem, but managed to solve it. I'm a newbie, but I will try to explain how it's done.
Since ClockworkMod is installed with CM7 (Gingerbread 7.1.0...),this will be the interface for factory data reset and system update.
In the CLockworkMod menu yo must select wipe data/factory reset before or after you apply a new update.zip (which also is done in the ClockworkMod interface)
Thanks for the reply lillknurra, but make wipe after and before update don't work for me.
This time, the first time that I booted FolioMod works correctly, but when reboot, I have a black screen again.
Any more ideas?

Hi,
If a WIPE doesn't help which it most likely should. You could try to "roll back" the Folio to original FolioStock according to instructions found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846199
I remember that I also read that there are some options to format some partitions, but I can not find it when searching...
I tried to roolback Toshiba Original ROM and works fine, but when I update to FolioMod 1.4 boots only the first time.
Now I'm triying to flash recovery image with fastboot metod before flash FolioMod.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=915894
In 10 minutes I know if it works.
EDIT:
Nothing, I will try all via fastboot mode and only works the first boot. When I do a fastboot flash boot boot.img I get a error:
failed to process command flash:boot error(0x30003)
In Spain is very late, tomorrow I'll try more options.

Please don't crosspost (at least in the same board). ROM Manager does not (still) work for Folio. Flash it from update.zip
O Sorry,ok thanks.
edit: resolved. From rom manager cannot reboot into recovery mode but if I manual recover folio 100 (volume up and power) than up than down than up instead enter in toshiba recovery mode now I have clockworkmod recovery. I used advent vega device in clockworkmod list devices.

HD revolution

Hi everybody. I'm from Italy.
I open this thread because i can't post in correct zone of this forum.
I havo some question about the rom HD revolution.
Is compatible with every original firmware installed?
The step to flash are:
Download ROM and place it on your virtual SD card
Download "Super Wipe" script & place it on your SD card (optionally if coming from earlier version of my ROM, obligatory if coming from stock or other custom ROM)
Flash boot.img from the downloads section
Boot your phone in recovery mode (vol up + home + power)
In main menu, select "install zip from sdcard"
Select "choose zip from sdcard" and browse to the location of "Super Wipe" script
Once again select "choose zip from sdcard" and browse to the location of Android Revolution ROM
After flashing process is complete, reboot the device
They're correct with new phone?

Samsung needs no boot.img only htc.
Just place the HD rom and the superwipe script on your external sd card. Flash superwipe script and than the hd rom. Done.
So, i din't need "root" privileges?
The recovery mode is accessibly with default rom and no previously mod?
This firmware, if i understand, is full, so there's no problem abount language and version of original firmware installed?
This firmware has italian language?
You need to have clockwork recovery to install the custom rom.
Just flash the correct CF rooting via odin and you will have everything you need. Thankfully Samsung don't do ****ty semi-unlocked bootloaders, which means once you're rooted you can pretty much do everything directly via your phone

Ok, i hope that my english is undestand Is not perfect but i undestand your messages
So, the first passage is installing clockwork recovery (via odin?) and after this reboot phone in recovery mode and install superwipe and ROM that i previously copy in memory card?

Thank you very much for the suggestion. I have tried downloading couple of times and the file size is 702 MB. All times it comes exactly the same size as it should be. However, the problem still persists. I have decided to go back to stock ROM till i can figure what is exactly the problem

First time rooting + flasing Rom (CM 9 or 10?)

Hey all,
I'm happy with my Tab 10.1 but it can be sluggish and so I decided to root it and install some kind of rom.
For rooting I found this guide on here which seems pretty simpel and useful.
But now comes the real question how do I proceed after this to instal a rom. Which one do I choose?
Is CM10 stable enough for me to try it, or should I go for stock 4.0.4?
And is there a proper guide on how to instal this?
Thanks

I went with the UK ICS rom, seems to be working fine.
Otherwise you can follow this I RECOMMAND YOU CM9 MORE STABLE THAN CM10:
- Make a new download of the ROM from pershoot droidbasement
- Download the last CWM (recovery file)
- Download Gapps from goo.im
> Copy ROM and Gapps on the Tablet
> Flash the CWM with Odin 1.85 and USB cable (In PDA field)
> Boot in recovery mod (YOU SHOULD MAKE A FULL WIPE / FACTORY at this Step if you have backup of your datas otherwise tablet should freeze at boot animation)
> Choose install zip from sdcard
> Select the zip ROM and confirm the update
> Choose again install zip from sdcard
> Select the gapps zip and confirm update
> Return to the first menu of CWM and reboot system
Enjoy !

Which ROM you choose really is up to you - that's the beautiful thing about Android. Really, the sky's the limit! Well...what's available is the limit but you know what I'm saying
Do your research on the threads under Android Development - all the ROMs that are available for HC, ICS, JB, etc. Think about what YOU want out of your tablet...are you wanting to be on the cutting edge of development where you want an experimental JB that may have some bugs in it, or do you want something super stable and creamy smooth like a custom HC? Or, do you just want to speed up your stock ROM with a custom kernel?
There's SO much on here to explore. It's taken me two weeks just to get to a point where I'm comfortable flashing! I'm running CM10 right now but have been through a couple of other ROMs. Task650's Galaxy Task 14 is a great ROM too.
It's always a good idea to take a Nandroid backup once you go any further...for example I have a Nandroid backup of my unrooted image so to get back to stock I can just restore to that.
Basically when you're ready you just download the ROM of your choosing to your tab (and any required supplementary files - READ THE INSTRUCTIONS ON EACH THREAD VERY CAREFULLY). Reboot into recovery, take a backup, and follow the instructions given by the developer TO THE LETTER for installing the ROM. I highly recommend doing a full wipe of your device (cache partition, data/factory reset, Dalvik cache) before installing any new ROM to ensure you don't run into any issues.
You have all the support you need on this forum to resolve any issue you may have - just make sure you search the threads DILIGENTLY before asking questions, and post questions in the appropriate place - you should be fine!! GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN!!!
I completely agree with you ... very good post!
I said CM9 because the tablet is recent and it was nice to see the result with this rom ...

Yes you can also follow this with cm9 or cm10, if you take the recovery file in the same folder than the rom (you should test cm9 first because more stable ... but it's my advice)

Hi. Here is the link for latest TWRP for ROW edition.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3391260&d=1436077810
After download go to recovery 2.7.1.1 and install from there. DO NOT WIPE.
To flash ROW firmware watch carefuly for the one with ROW mark. Do not flash the ones with CN mark.
Flashing is relatively simple.
1. Download your desired firmware.
2. Copy that zip file on your sd card
3. Reboot in recovery or download one reboot to recovery app from google market and give root rights. That kind of app is mutch better for rebooting directly in recovery.
4. In TWRP go to backup. NOT OPTIONAL. And do a full backup.
5. Now after full backup go to wipe and swipe to wipe.
6. After wipe go to install.
7. Install your firmware.
8 Reboot and wait to firmware to install. This will take longer then usual. Do not be scared.
9. Good Luck.

After installing android m preview flash s228 modem for KitKat

Help: P780_S228_4.4.2_8GB has Asus zenfone 5 ROM- not able to reflash

Hello,
I am new to this website. need HELP
I rooted my lenovo p780 (S228_8GB) using KINGOROOT app.
Downloaded a recovery image from internet.
Downloaded ASUS Z5.zip from internet.
Replaced the ROM everything went right.
After installation, I saw Notification is in Russian language and also i see some spelling mistakes.
I thought to switch back to Kitkat 4.4.2 of p780 BUT could not
Problem after ROM flash:
cannot flash recovery image. (maybe not sure which one to use)
Wish to go back to kitkat 4.4.2 or any suggestions from the expert.

Hi.
Look in Development area for your stock firmware.
Flash again with SPFlash Tool.
Go to q&a section/rooting tutorial for kitkat. There is a tutorial for installing TWRP safe.
After all this, safe backup your currently installed system. NOT OPTIONAL.
Now after full backup, ONLY AFTER FULL BACKUP you can install other custom firmware. I recommend you to install latest MIUI.
Hope this helps you.
Good luck.

Well thank you for your reply.
I was about to post some more details, like:
I was able to start recovery mode using p780 image.
some ROMs (i think OTA) tried to install. but it stuck with
warning: No file contexts
and after some time it would abort the installation with status 6.
However, this time i think i messed up
It is now stuck at "ASUS" logo on restart
cannot do factory reset mode also.
On top of that my phone doesnt connect to my laptop. (it cant detect )
I think its dead/brick. if you have further rescue suggestions , please do comment.
Thank you for your support.
Regards

Now seriously... To be sure, you must reflash your stock firmware.
If after reflash the phone still have problems, then you have a hardware problem.

Ok let me start from the beginning:
I rooted my phone because of pokemon go. The phone was too slow and could not run this app effectively.
I rooted p780 using kingroot apk (the one with crown icon). removed unnecessary apps like (security, google play books etc...)
My phone was very happy :good::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::laugh: untill...
I wanted to explore more what i can do with root. I uninstalled contact manager (IdeaFriend) bbboooommmm.
Even with Contact+ i was not able to add any new contacts.
This made me to explore more about flash and roms.
I had S226 or S228 OTA and I found this Asus Zenfone 5 ROM.
During recovery i used Asus.....
After Asus installation I realized
No English Notification (Only Russian).
No Camera APP
No Necessary GAPPS...
So I tried to become Hero and wanted to reflash Lenovo. and .....rest you know.
Current condition: I have reflashed Asus. because i am not able to find/install the old lenovo rom or any other rom which can support.
But this is temorarily.
Hence i still need support:
I am able to reboot in recovery but need a proper ROM.
Regards

So... You have recovery, system is messed up,... Hmmm...
Look what i propose....
1. download the latest MIUI from Development/MIUI post
2. Put MIUI zip file on sd card any sdcard and insert it on the phone.
3. Reboot to recovery or start to recovery.
4. Go to wipe, advance wipe. Select all except sdcard and otg and swipe to wipe.
5. After wipe go to rebooy and press reboot to recovery
6. After reboot go to wipe and swipe to factory reset.
7. After wipe go to install, browse for MIUI and install.
8. After install is complete reboot to system.
9. Wait till all is completed, this reboot takes longer than usual... Do not be scared.
10. That must be it. Tell me if something goes wrong.
11. Good luck.

Hi.
Dont worry. I am not offended.
Try to get in twrp now. With combination of keys pressed all: power key + volume - and volume +
Try to factory reset. See what is going on.

Already tried that....not working...
always says an error of "unable to mount /emmc".
On looking into twrp I tried to format the internal storage but it says 0MB.
Also i see 'internal SD storage' as vfat format.
Any further suggestions ?
I have noticed that luckily my twrp is 1 version older. which has option to format the internal storage (if i understand correctly)
Maybe you can provide some codes to re-partition the internal storage. (this is what i learnt so far from other forums :crying
:crying::crying::crying:
Hi. To repartition the phone you must know some hexa.
I studied some tutorials here in XDA.
On our problem, seems to me that something happened to your hardware.
See if you can format the phone with sp flash tool v5.

My computer is not able to detect the phone. after connecting with cable i see a notification as 'usb not recognized'.
However, my External SD card can be read through phone.
So any other way to partition internal sd ?

If your computer does not detect your phone is a hardware problem.
That means you have a hardware fault on the phone motherboard. Seems to me that you have to go to an service store for further analysis.
