Newly rooted user here, still getting used to all the tweaks you can do with it. One thing I'm wondering is
if there's any way to not have music stop when the camera app's opened, this really annoys me especially
since other phones don't do it.

I'm a little new to the whole android scene, so please bare with me
I recently rooted my HTC inspire and installed LCs IceColdSandwich. I'm currently on 1.4. Lately I've been having a lot of music app crashes. It started around the same time that I manually changed the default Music.apk. After that I would crashes on almost all of my media players (I have several because I'm still picking which one will be my daily player). I didn't notice these crashes until I changed this apk, so last night I factory reset my phone and reinstalled 1.4
Unfortunately the problem is still there. I'm bringing this up on the forum because I'm still not familiar enough to know exactly how to trouble shoot it. Do you think it is a problem with the ROM (I hope not, because I fell in love with ICS), or just the apps? I've seen this crash on Zimly (which is my favorite), Cloudskipper and Cubed. The only app that hasnt crashed yet is my trial of Poweramp.
Thanks

I just got my new galaxy note (i717) on friday (immediately flashing it with OnlyOne beta 2 (ics)) and I would like to use it for a bit of podcasting using the front camera to record myself while I read text from some teleprompter software.
I can record video from the front camera just fine, and it actually comes out a bit higher quality than I expected even, but for the life of me, when i hit the record button and then switch away from the camera app to the prompter app, it gives me an audio notification that the camera has stopped recording.
is there prompter software that has an integrated video recorder? (that'd be pretty sweet imho) or better, some way to record video while another app (that's not particularly resource intensive) is in use? - I don't mind trimming and cutting the video together (there are actually some pretty decent editing tools for android i've found) but I can't figure out a way to record and prompt at the same time...
does anybody have any ideas?
I'm rather surprised that nobody seems to have any ideas on this... could someone at least please relay to me why this isn't possible (if it's not possible)?
I would think that this would be a reasonably popular thing to do (recording video whilst looking at a prompter or even a web page or something to do podcasting stuff...
Is this something I'm going to have to write? (I have no idea how to dev android apps).
well i'm glad to see that google does a good job at finding appropriate threads - here it is, a couple of months later, and I'm revisiting the same problem that I had before - I still can't record and prompt at the same time on my i717 (now running cm9 / cm10, not that it should matter)... I still don't get it.
i don't know what to say , u searched a program on google?i believe that is here at least 1 program for your note
Video app with built in teleprompter
There is a great teleprompter/video recording app. It's called VRT2. Unfortunately you would have to downgrade to an iPad to get it. When I saw it, I was tempted o make the switch, but I don't want to give up the advanced features of my Samsung Note 10.
I'm hoping that a great Android app developer will create something like the VRT2 soon.
When it's ready, I'm ready to buy it.
I still can't seem to find anything that does this and it would be *great* for quick video podcasting... I just want to be able to record myself on the front camera while either reading my notes or looking at a teleprompter with the outline i've created for the segment.
Video recorder teleprompter
Have you found any other software to video you with front facing camera with teleprompter on screen?
I know Ipad have one on itunes costing somewhere 24 dollars or £18 which is a professional one, not tried it but I now it does record you and at the same time has all the words you want to talk about in front of you.
Keep up to date, I don't know which tablet to buy because of this problem.

Ok so I've had the S3 since yesterday and needless to say its a pretty incredible piece of kit.
However I've encountered two problems I can't get around;
1. I can't seem to get my music player onto the lock screen to easily change track, I've tried a variety of players but none seem to take over the lock screen no matter what settings are used? Anyone know a fix?
2. Whenever I use the internet on my phone using desktop mode or any internet browser, when trying to watch videos other than on Youtube I always get the "You need Flash" instead of the video, I never had this problem on my Note...
Are there any quick fixes to this? I don't want to root my device...
For 2) it's probably a case of you needing to go the Play Store and downloading Adobe Flash
Sent from my CM9 TouchPad
Haha
I would have thought by the fact i'd posted here it would have been assumed Id already downloaded Flash .
I have Adobe Flash Player 11 with the fix for ICS, however playing videos I could on my Note just isn't happening on the S3 and i'm not sure why!

If there are videos with commercials, it can be that the popup blocker of the browser blocks them.
It happened to me too just because the website I tried, needed to have the commercials downloaded first before it could start the playback.
Are you using the same browser on both phones?
About the first problem it works ok for me so i really dont know. (stock music player)
the above two problems are not major!! i will tell you a major problem and that is an auto focus issue while recording video looses its focus and moves too and fro awkwardly video help help!
I have the same problem as number 1: The stock music player on the galaxy s3 does not appear to have any control on the lockscreen. It's strange because on my Galaxy S it works perfectly.. Anybody have ideas on how to resolve the issue, without going to 3rd party apps/widgets?
It's annoying but at least you can pull down the notification bar and get it there.
Also the headphones do volume but not tracks... F'n annoying.
I find the music player a bit ****, wish I had access to Google Play Music from 4.0.
The only way is pull down the notification bar

In order for you to play the videos using the browser, you need to switch back to android mode(phone mode), the flash player, especially the adobe one, do not support desktop mode.
To sort it, you need a flash player that supports desktop mode which i don't know if there is already existing app like that.
So, there is no way to get it working properly, only notification bar? That's weak..
Btw. I have also problems with flash. Youtube works fine but sometimes it just keeps loading and doesn't play ( from the internet browser). What's the deal with all these issues, I thought SG3 will be flawless..
I wanted to follow up on this, I find the music player extremely annoying. The headphones not changing track I can live with for the time being.
Any solution on how to access the on screen music player besides the notification bar from the lock screen?
Hello Everyone,
I just recently switched from an iPhone 4S and to a Galaxy Nexus on Verizon. So far I'm enjoying my experience. I experimented with Android in the past by buying a Nexus One when it was first released. Didn't enjoy the experience for a few reasons, but my main concern was with the way Android handled music. We're talking Eclair and Froyo days, now.
Recently, I ordered a beat-up, used Nexus One to travel overseas and found that Gingerbread had ironed out a lot of the music woes than it's firmware predecessors had. Mainly, the "unknown artist" thing, that I couldn't find any help.
Right now, I'm searching for a good music player that has specific features. Remember I'm an iOS user, and some of this stuff they had in their stock music app. Right now, I'm using "Android Music", not "Google Music", mind you. The reason for this, is because I'm familiar with it from my N1 days. I know there are better apps out there, but I don't want to download 100 apps that don't do exactly, or at least mostly want I want to do.
So here's the meat of the conversation, I'm looking for a music player that can do the following:
1. Transition between songs to be seamless, if the song is meant to blend into the next. (I don't want a stuttering version of Dark Side of the Moon)
2. Audio ducking. When I receive a message or an email, the music player I have now stops the song entirely. It's a jolt especially if you're driving and really annoying. This app needs to have audio ducking.
3. The ability to have voice control. I want to be able to hit the google mic button and say, "Play "Paranoid Android" by Radiohead" and it will play (sort of like what Siri does). But, as of iOS5, a huge annoyance I had with Siri is that she played JUST that song and didn't transition to the rest of the album. I've been testing beta 2 of iOS6 and it looks to have been fixed now. But I want that iOS6 feature with voice control. I know there are apps that do that, because my GN says there are when I try to request a certain song.
The rest of these are nice, but not deal breakers:
4. Perhaps a way to play audible formatted audiobooks? I'm not sure of the Android Version of the Audible app can download them offline, but I'd love to continue my audiobook addiction with Android.
5. A good, easy to use UI. Going from a 3.5 inch to a 4.6 inch phone is a big transition. I drive a good distance to work, and I want to be able to change songs and such without pancaking your grandma.
Those are my requests. I know that the Google Music app seems to have replaced the old music app that I'm using, but I don't want to use Google Music as my main driver. For a while now, I've been uploading to GM and I know there is an ability to download them offline. It's cool feature if I'm in a bunch, but I don't want to have to do that all the time. I like keeping a significant amount of songs on my phone at all times, and I don't want to have to scroll through a bunch of stuff I'm not currently listening in heavy rotation. It wastes time and remember, your grandma's life is at stake if I'm behind the wheel.
It sounds sort of picky, but I'd expect that from a lot of Android users, because I was picky on iOS. I jailbroke the very first iPhone even before it had an app store, and I did it every time I had the chance. I love options. At this point it seems like the stock app for music on Android is not cutting it for me, but I know there are options out there. Please advise, and thank you very much for your help, and reading my ramblings.
ive had this beauty sense it was new never really had a particular use for it besides having a bigger screen than my phone but lacking mobile data it seemed kind of pointless most of the time. and its just sat
ive come up with a use for it recently and wanted to see if i could revive it.
i need a few apps for sure.
an audiobook player.
audible.
kindle.
google music.
team viewer to access my home pc's files.
maybe es explorer or wifi file transfer or something of the like.
Bluetooth for my headphones using this would greatly increase the life of my battery in my phone.
the sound output from the 3.5mm headphone jack through the dock
as mentioned above i have a dock for it too so id like to use it as a desktop picture frame for my new daughter on my desk at work as a bonus.
the occasional youtube video would be nice too.
So from all the roms that ive used either one thing or another wont work like Bluetooth, the camera or the roms area getting hard to find due to the age of the tablet, not to mention every time ive tried to flash a new rom on it i get constant freezing and force close or "unfortunately ______ has closed" errors
i have saved :
a pretty large file of roms from different ages and versions of android
odin
stock recoveries
twrp and cwm
but what should i use is there anyone out there using this thing still or should i move on to a newer machine ?
