I came across something today that I would like to ask, everyone knows that when your going to make a phone call go online or send a message that android asks you what you want to use, like for instance usually when I send someone a message it asks how I want to send it through hangouts, text message, whats app etc etc, but today I noticed that it asked me if I wanted to send my message using titanium backup or android tuner, why is this? Can you actually use them to send messages? As your probably aware I am new to android and rooting so no very little, so any info on this would be great thanks very much.

I've read numerous posts from whatsapp.com and other sites saying that a 7 day backup is created. I have copied the previous WA msgstore-YYYY-MM to my PC but i dont want to lose my current messages.

@ichigo786 to my knowledge you can simply uninstall watsap and then re-install it. Messages are stored at the server side so it should download anything that was synced before the deletion.
They're backed up every night to local storage, not online. And its not just 7 days, its everything. It'll prompt you if you reinstall.

Hey thanks for all the replies guys.
My problem is that my sister deleted a single chat conversation by accident two days ago and i only realised a couple of days later when i went to message that said contact. The problem is that i have a backup of that day, but now i have numerous new messages and ive been told if i restore from two days back i will lose my current messages, as i will be restoring messages from say the 9th.
Is there any way i can merge the 9th messages with the new ones or just pull out that single chat and install it.
Hello XDA
I'am in dire need of your help and expertise. Last wednesday my LG G2 had a problem with its clock, and I have a feeling that it somehow conflicted with ingoing/outgoing messages - Is that even possible?
My real problem is that troughout wed-friday I had troubles recieving and sending SMS, or so I thought. 1 SMS that was sent to me on wednesday arrived friday and that it when I noticed that something was wrong. Afterwards every message I sent was almost instantly disappeared from my message app but my contact recieved the SMS even though. Also any incomming SMS would display in the notification bar and the dropdown function android has, but when I opened the SMS to the message viewer the SMS would disappear almost instantly before I could have a chance to read it through.I have a feelling the it is not deleted and stil resides somewhere within my phone. Can you help me find it or somehow restore it if that what takes?
Side note:
I've heard that you can use various android SMS recovery tools, but that should - correct me if I'am wrong - require a root of your phone. But if I root my LG G2, wouldnt the phone reset and the data get whiped along with my SMS ?
Thanks in advance.
Try using SMS backup and restore by ritesh sahu from google play store.
Aur backup ready the phone and then restore

Hey guys, I was hoping you might be able to help me with a problem I've been having.
I have an HTC One, stock rom with custom launcher/home screen.etc, and I am trying to manage a very large volume of sms (50,000+).
When I first got this phone, I never told it to delete old messages as I liked to create backups. However, now the phone is just too bogged down as a result of all these messages.
I would like to have the phone start deleting messages once they get above a certain number. So to do this, I created a backup of all the SMS messages using the HTC stock messaging app as well as the SMS backup+ app. I then deleted all the messages, and used the stock SMS restore feature with the "delete old messages" option selected under the settings.
The problem is this thing has been running for 6 hours now, and I am not sure it is getting anywhere. How would you guys handle this situation?
Thanks for your help!
Hi Folks. First of all, I'm new here. I just created a profile to suggest you the following:
Pushbullet; it's an app that allows you to send and receive notifications, links, files, etc, between devices.
So, I was thinking if maybe somebody knows a way around to use this app as a substitute for the Osmart Companion, that doesn't work so well and also depends completely on bluetooth. I'm using it right now to manually send stuff from my smartphone to the TrueSmart, but I just found out that Pushbullet now supports Tasker integration, what makes me think that, if you know how, it is possible to create a profile on Tasker that allows you to automatically send a notification to your TrueSmart whenever you receive a SMS, for example.
However, despite being a huge fan of android and apps in general, my programming skills sucks really bad, even at Tasker, which I guess must be programming for beginners.
Has anyone already tried to do something related? Please let me know.
Thanks!
I haven´t try that app, but I´m using 'Notisync' and, at least for me and until now, it´s working. The only one thing I don´t have got: automatically unlock the screen (I´m using Oclock) and show a window with the notification content in. For this, I´m using 'Notify me!' app. It turns on the screen, but not unlock it (it only shows the notification content if the screen is already on). I continue investigating .
I hope this helps someone.

I have tried many apps and so far at least this one tells me when someone is calling, i cant get it to alert me of texts though, i use hangouts as my text service default app but i even tried the standard messages app and it still doesnt allow the texts to go through, did you have to do anything special for the texts?
as for pushbullet i started messing with it the other day but all it does it notify my watch that theres a message waiting on my phone i still need to look at the phone to see/reply to the message.
figured out a way with pushbullet and tasker to show who the text is from and what the message said, now if only there was a way to reply

I don´t use SMS and never try that. But I tried an app called 'Tablet talk' that can syncronize SMS and phone calls (even when you receive phone call, it shows a window showing the contact photo and bottons to interact with that call). I configured the phone as 'phone' and the watch as 'tablet'. The problema I had was the same: it doesn´t unlock the Oclock screen.

Yeah i've been a user of tablet talk for a while and it is a good app just looking for others since i dont like always having to reconnect them together.
Hey everyone,
I contacted the developers of Push Bullet a few weeks ago when I got my TS. He indicated that it was a space they wanted to occupy for wearables and tablets. They have a number of things they're rolling out for their primary app first, but it's on the slate for the future.

how did you guys get it to install? Side load? It wont let me install from the play store since it says it is incompatible with device. I love pushbullet, and would love to use it with the TS
Yeah side loaded from dropbox.
sent from my note 3 running beans.
For sms I have been using google voice, hangouts and the XVoice+ Xposed plugin. here's how it works:
1) I have moved most people to use mt GV number to reach me as I have several PH numbers so step one is socialize the GV ph number.
2) XVoice+ forces all sms through the google voice app
3) in the google voice app > Settings > Sync and Notifications set recieve text messages to "via the messaging app.
4) if you want to use hangouts go through the steps to make it the default SMS/MMS client otherwise you can use what ever SMS app you want.
default result is I get the same conversation on my phone as on my PC as on my watch. For me this works out well.. the only issues i have are broadcast messages that are short message based like twitter to sms. Google Voice will not support these messages.

thanks for the response, was hoping to get updates via the playstore. Oh well, off to find an apk on google search!
glad to hear it works fone on the TS though!
Hi there, I hope you are doing well.
I'm quite desperated today. I recently change my phone number because I started a new job (about a week ago) and I also got a new corporate phone for it.
My old Note 8 was sitting in a drawer, as I've tried to make backups and move things over, the past few days. Today, when I went to open WhatsApp there, I got redirected back to the "Send SMS Verification" screen; locking me out of seeing my own messages that are stored in the SQLIte databases (msgstore.db.crypt12) in my own device!
From what I've been reading, the most probably cause is that a new subscriber to the phone company received my old number and created a new WhatsApp account. I know that they won't be seeing my messages, as those are stored in my device and encrypted with.
What I'd need to retrieve is my WhatsApp encryption key, located in /data/data/com.whatsapp/files/key to read my messages, but, obviously, needs root. My phone is not rooted and, from what I've also been reading, if I went to root it with any of the know methods, it would wipe everything and I'd lose that key.
Is there any way in which I can gain root and copy that file, without wiping? If not, is there any way I can create a "low-level" backup that woul ALSO backup that data; to later restore (after rooted). I think that all the common backups in the Play Store will, of course, not be able to access that data to backup. But I don't know about any of the Samsung bloated own apps (like Cloud Backups, Smart Switch, etc.); if those would work in my scenario.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide; looking forward to hear back from you.
Regards.

WhatsApp app itself has to create a backup of the chats.
In WhatsApp settings - Chats - Chat backup.
If you have to change your mobile number, there is a feature in WhatsApp to migrate your data, chats, settings, etc. to your new phone number. And to inform your WhatsApp contacts that you have a new number.
In WhatsApp settings - Account - Change number.
If there is a new WhatsApp account created with your old number, it might be too late now.
Thanks for your inpur @It_ler.
I know that you can migrate the WhatsApp number and how the procedure work. The thing is that WhatsApp deactivates accounts with no activity for more than 120 days and now, when opening it again, it tries to send validation to the phone number that I no longer own. Nobody created a new account with that number; as far as I know, it haven't been reassigned yet to another subscriber. Still, all my chat history is in the device itself, but encrypted with the key I can't get access to without rooting, while rooting hard resets (erases) everything; hence losing said key (catch-22).
Do you know of any way in which I could root or get access to the encryption key without having to delete everything?
Thanks again.

Sorry ... no, I don't
And do not forget to activate automatic chat backup into your Google drive for your new/recent chats.
