Kitkat tablet ui mod request? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know that google removed the code for tablet ui from android 4.4, but is it really all that hard to create a custom rom that uses kitkat as a base and just integrates some of the old jb code for tablet ui? I really don't see why ti would be that hard, but it could be EXTREMELY useful on both large tablets and, actually, almost any phone for which the user wants to have more screen real-estate. Please tell me if this is possible!

[Q] [REQ] Method of UNIVERSAL Tablet UI Mod for Gingerbread/ICS

Well I got myself an Epic 4G (OG) with AOKP/CM7/CM9 and a Chinese ICS tablet (I am a Chinese high school student myself...) so I'm easily fascinated by the tablet UI of ICS. Apart from that, once I testdrived CM7 on my tablet and the Honeycomb-style softkey really enlightened me...
So today I was wandering the net and came up with this:
rootzw i ki. com/topi c/20451-mod -9-roms-table t-mode/ [REMOVE SPACES - THE FORUM WON'T LET ME PUT LINKS...]
Well, there's support for tablet UI mod for 9 different ICS roms inside for Galaxy Nexus...
But then look at the version required - it seems that the packs are not just modded for a specific phone, a specific ROM but also for a specific version... So it's kinda useless to me... Tried more search and returned no more results except that someone mentioned that some mods could be done in /res/values/bools.xml of framework-res.apk (I'm no total noob and I know how)...
So question is, is there really a way as detailed as modding DPIs and framework-res.apk to enable tablet mode on ICS? To make it further, is it available for Gingerbread?(i.e. putting FULL CM7 Tablet Tweaks on ALL phones without compiling a new ROM) And for tablets, any way to disable tablet UI as well? (My tablet HAS capacitive keys designed for portrait use like a Galaxy Tab P1000 so I would like to disable Tablet UI for it)
EDIT: Modding DPI only doesn't seem to do it at least on my tablet - DPI from 120 to 240 but results are only bigger nav bar and buttons...
Bump... sinks so fast

[Q] AOSP ROMs etc..

I had a few questions about AOSP ROMs and such. Firstly, I know what an AOSP ROM is, don't get me wrong, but one thing I didn't know is if an AOSP ROM for the S4 came with the features the phone is supposed to have like smart scroll, air gestures etc. Do they, or is there one that does? My second question was, if AOSP ROMs do not include these features is there a way to theme the phone to look like AOSP or a ROM (other than Eclipse) that looks like AOSP but has the features of the phone? I really like the AOSP look, but I want the features the phone is supposed to have. Also, the reason I don't want to run Eclipse is because I've tried it and loved it, however, the clock with the owner information for the lock screen doesn't work (at least for me, the owner info doesn't show up) and I really want the owner info there. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
By its v very definition, those features are not part of AOSP roms. They ate proprietary to Samsung's TouchWiz overlay.

Not from me. Porting stock samsung apps to aosp roms is not easy. Samsung customizes android with mountains and mountains and even more mountains of additions. For better or for worse is up for debate but I'd argue for worse :cyclops: The name "Lagwiz" doesn't come from nowhere :cyclops:
The samsung apps then reference these additions. Someone would need to find those additions, extract them, and stuff them in the samsung app apk. Basically, the samsung apps apk are not standalone installers. Someone would need to put the effort to add the missing extras to these apks. Now I haven't seen the magazine ux, but if you want a more 4.0 ics launcher without the ugly dock at the bottom try nova launcher or adw.
Samsung has discontinued this tablet after only 1 update from honeycomb to ics. Talk about poor 1st party support. Bulls**t that "there's too little ram" or "the hardware's not capable". KitKat runs smoothly and can actually use live wallpapers. I've never been able to use live wallpaper without severe lag even back in honeycomb.
And lastly, this is a question thread not a development thread.

Skinning Stock Android 5.x ROM to look like Android 4.3?

Hello,
I've been holding off upgrading to Android 5 or newer and have been sticking to Android 4.3 because I plainly do not like how the icons and graphics for Android 4.4 and up looks like. Would it be possible to make Android 5.x look exactly like Android 4.3? Perhaps with a skin?
For example, the shape of the Back, Home and Switch Window icons at the bottom of the screen, the position of the Quick Settings in the Notification Panel, the shape and icon design of the Wi-Fi and Cellular signal strength and so on.
I have my Sony Stock Android 4.3 Rooted, which allows me to apply security fixes (ie. disabling Stagefright in build.prop) and installing permissions managers but I think as Android 4.3 ages more and more exploits would be possible against it. So I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade to Android 5x and then skin it to look and feel like 4.3.
Thank you!

That's a very weird thing to do, but alright.
First of all, any reason why you're not on 4.4.4? That's the last KitKat version. Heck, 4.3 isn't even KitKat! It's Jelly Bean, so you're two versions behind. KitKat looks the same as Jelly Bean and runs much better than Jelly Bean.
Second, you can change the navigation buttons (the three buttons at the bottom) by either using an Xposed module or by installing an app (just google "change android navbar icons".
Third, you can also flash CM12.1 and use a theme. You won't find a theme that looks like the old Sony UI, because why would anyone make that, but you can theme it to look like anything else than stock Lollipop.
Fourth, you can stay on 4.4.4 and have a rather big issue at hand once you have to buy a new device It's not like Google will revert the design, so the best thing to do is to start liking it, or move to a different OS.
Cheers

Thanks for the reply. I've been trying some builds here and there, such as Cyanogenmod and Blisspop, I just have to use 5.x for a few days I guess.
What ROMs would you recommend that doesn't have broken features? Right now I'm using Sony Stock 5.1.1 and rooted it using the Kingroot app and replaced that with SuperSU.

The most stable ones are of course the official ones, so the one you're already running and the GPe port are the most stable ones. Also, I guess you can simply use a theme on the ROM you're running right now. Take a look here if you haven't already.
Bro just use lp with nova launcher

Ios recent apps for android

* to make something clear, with this article I would not like to start a disskution on IOS VS ANDROID *
I am an enthusiastic ios design fan. But i am a Android User
My phone? LG V30 running DotOs
_____________________________________________________________________
I've read several articles stating that android P would have a similar multitasking view as ios 12, through the P-beta it has become clear that it is not the same as on IOS. I'm bored to see always the same multitasking view for years. The people of MIUI have also managed to make the multitasking view similar to IOS 12. Correct me if i am wronge
to my actual question: are there any xposed modules or mods that can do this? For the people who do not know what I mean, check out the uploaded pictures
One Article for example: https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/04/19/android-p-will-come-with-a-redesigned-recent-apps-interface/
No there is no xposed mod for this. The requires huge rewrites in the base frameworks.
