Tried to update it to kitkat 4.4 using Odin and now its bricked. Samsung screen keeps flashing. Kies will not work to fix it. Tried to re flash it but SW Ver Check fail error comes up. Please tell me what this means and how to restore with kies. The original firmware was I527UCUAMH1 but couldnt find that on the net at all. Its on my box. I put the ATT kit kat upgrade file on SD and tried to update via hard boot. Some one help. PLEASE!!!
Try to do the update again through recovery
If you took the last small update, you should be on i527UCUAMK2.

Are you putting it into download mode before you run kies? You dont have to go to stock, to update.
There are threads with stock...click on my signature picture for the links.
What is the end state, are you returning your Note?

Had same problem. Make sure your modem, kernel, and rom are all GB and ucla1. for instance your kernel is probably lf5,should be la1.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
It most likely won't allow you because of the modem. If you don't have the gb modem it will not update. If all else fails you can do an emergency upgrade. Put phone in dl mode and run emergency firmware. It will not connect while in dl mode but will upgrade to ics.
Edit: Just saw the post above mine. Sorry about the double post about the modem.
Follow the directions and you will be fine...

This has been done time and time again to get custom rom phones to ICS without issue.
Just follow the directions and you'll be fine.
Hi All,
I have an unlocked UK non-rooted phone that I recently restored to stock firmware (DLJ4).
I understand that the UK BTU is out and so are people receiveing this update through Kies/OTA yet or is it only on sammobile? I'd rather update OTA than through odin but I havent't received the update yet - it still comes up with the latest updates are installed.
Any ideas?
Cheers
why dont you want to update through odin? Takes literally 3 mins
Never updated by Kies before in my 6 months using this phone lol. You might wanna connect to Kies and check. Sometimes the OTA doesn't push through
If your phone codes match the firmware on the server you get it .
If you no longer have matching codes due to flashing stuff and then trying to revert to the Samsung route basically you are wasting your time .

Well I didn't want to have to set my phone up again. Unless there's an ota file itself I could just flash? So that my data is kept

youre on a stock samsung rom? Just flash the new stock samsung rom over it in odin, wont lose anything
Yeh I am. Oh I thought whenever you did a flash through Odin it factory resets it?
But still - I don't get why I can't update ota.

Nope - only when you unlock the boot loader. So if you've done that already, you're fine.
I'm on dlj4 too - I can't see a 4.1.2 update that corresponds to this - can I use another? I'm unlocked and rooted.

[RESOLVED]
I had to update the CSC to BTU using CSC select from the play store. Common problem when flashing BTU firmware with Odin apparently - defaults to Kor which prevents OTA from appearing.

Hi...which model of the mega do you have and what rom were you on before this happened.
6.3. It's my friends phone she doesn't know what firmware she was on. It was a stock rom. She took an ota and it was stuck on samsung logo. So I flashed it with odin and now its stuck with this message. It won't connect in kies either.

Again.....which model?
I9205, I527 or i527m? Might even be 1 more
And what did you flash in Odin?
Did you just flash a random file on a phone and not know what you were flashing?

Its a i527m. I flashed it with the stock rom for her provider.

Okay go to my post here and download the ROOT_JDQ39.I527MVLUBNA3.tar rom and once downloaded unpack it as it is a zip file and flash the .tar file with odin and this will get you back up and running again..this is a rogers rooted rom but it will still work, if you are on a different carrier then rogers..then just delete any rogers stuff that is on this rom, which is only about 2 things anyways..the phone must have been on the NA3 rom which has knox security in it, and you cannot flash a earlier stock rom like the MH1 anymore as the knox security will not let you...let us know how you make out.
Note: If this phone was updated to the newer kitkat update the NE5 one, then this rom may not work.
Thank you That fixed it.

So, this all started last year when i wanted to disable updates. For the life of me, i cant remember what i did but there have been no updates. Recently, I have been getting the OTA notification to update. So i did that and when it installs it gives an error at 26%. My phone is rooted and has USB debugging on so i put it in download mode and tried to use ODIN to update it with both the stock firmware and KitKat. they both failed. Today, I tried to do it again but added the file to BL instead of AP in ODIN. Now my phone gives the "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue" screen. I tried to use Kies to fix it but it doesnt connect when this screen is up. When i restart the phone in download mode, then my computer detects the device.
I have a ATT gs4 model SGH-I337
Please HELP!

flash a stock rom and then fastboot flash your stock recovery, then update your phone the update should be triggered in the stock recovery, with a custom recovery, it won't work
the only other easy way around this besides doing what I said is to look for a firmware thread for your device and flash the firmware as a op who has tested it states.

So i did that but still got an error. I think that one of the reasons why it was messing up before is an issue with Kies blocking the port from opening. So i closed that out per the below thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1622790
But it started and the status bar on my phone is now blue (which is what how this bigger issue started before) I found this other link that kind of fits whats going on. Should i just follow the PIT instructions from here and of course just restart my phone again?

I think you may want to pm the developer of kies to solve your issue, since I don't have your device, that's about as much help as I can be.

Im pretty sure i was at 4.3. So everything was working and then i found a random article saying that with the ALL_ATT_I337UCUFNB1_I337ATTFNB1_505595_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 update, you have to put in the PIT file again. So i did that and now my phone turns on and says custom, but then shuts off. I can go into download mode and recovery. I tried to factory reset everything but to no avail.

Hmm, the pit might be why you're having issues. Most updates don't need the separate pit file. If it's needed, it's often packaged in the main tar file. I would just redo the Odin flash without pit and factory reset afterwards.

Telling us it failed without more details isn't very helpful. What region is the phone from? What Build Version of the software is it on? What version did you try to flash? What was the error received?
