The Sony Xperia Z1 is already an excellent smartphone, but if you want to take things up a notch, such as installing the mod for 4K video or uninstalling pre-loaded system applications, then you're going to need root. In this tutorial we'll walk you through the procedure for rooting the Xperia Z1.

As always, getting root is risky: if you do not follow the procedure properly, you can end up with an unusable phone. Neither XDA or myself will be held responsible for anything that may go wrong. :fingers-crossed:
This method is valid ONLY for Sony Xperia Z1 C6903 under 14.3.A.0.757 firmware (Android 4.4.2).
Prerequisites
Xperia Z1 drivers properly installed on your computer
Android 4.4.2 KitKat installed, firmware number 14.3.A.0.757
Bootloader unlocked Xperia Z1 (see more information on Sony's support page)
How to root the Xperia Z1
1. Download and install Flashtool 0.9.16.0 (GOOGLE IT)
2. Download Doomlord's Advanced Stock Kernel
(GOOGLE IT) and unzip the archive.
3. Start FlashTool, turn off the Xperia Z1 and connect the Z1 to your PC via USB cable while holding the Volume Up button. This will get you to Fastboot mode.
4. In FlashTool, click the lightning icon and select Fastboot flash. In the next pop-up screen – Fastboot Toolbox – click ''select kernel to flash'' in the column labelled ''by Doomlord''. Navigate the boot.img file that was in the zip file above.
5. Once the kernel has been successfully flashed, restart your smartphone and download SuperSU from the Google Play Store.

I'm trying to root my Sony Xperia P with the standard manual from Sony.
But when I'm trying to reboot the phone I see a new device "S1Boot Fastboot" in the device manager in Windows 7 x64, but after a few second the device is disapeard and the phone boots normal. Is there a way to do this with an application instead of using the Android SDK?
Why this on development section? Go to Q&A section
dude you need drivers, you need Android SDK, than Gordons Gate Flash Drivers, Sony Update Service, and Flash Drivers from the flash tool
From the Sony page you need the latest Android SDK a custom android_winusb.inf file from Sony to enable Fastboot for this phone and Google USB Driver package revision 4 or higher. I've got al these components installed on my machine.
this can be a simple driver issue, install drives manually
go to Computer, and go to Manage

check out the side bar and click on Device Manager
now search for S1 FASTBOOT [the name of the drive(maybe it is on ''other'' tab)]
and do it fast before the device turn off fastboot mode
right click on it and go to Update Software
click on the second option
put the folder where is the usbs drivers
click on next, and install the driver, and now you have the fastboot drives already installed, now you just need to unlock bootloader from that tutorial by sony, and please, hit thanks if you think i helped you, and sorry for that bad english, i am brazilian

nope I think that this is central Europe since there is not generic fw for this phone
Ok, I've installed all the drivers that come with flashboot (xperia u, flashboot and fastboot)
ST25i
firmware 6.1.1.B.1.54
ics 4.0.4
Says in the settings that it can be unlocked.
Gone all the way through the official method, at the end it just says "root failed" (rechecked both modes multiple times.
Installed flashtool, tried that method, root fails.
Run "root many android", also fails.
I am running everything in admin mode, the phone stays in fastboot and driver is recognized... I just have no idea.

better unock through flashtool
u trying to root or unlock bootloader??
I think he wants to root it...You have to flash .B.1.10 kernel as first. After that you can root (by any method, but I strongly recommend latest Flashtool). And after rooting flash back kernel B.1.54
Where do I get the kernel and how do I flash it? Thanks!
I've tried using this, but get the error "the device must be rooted 1st"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1926387
Now following this guide, gets stuck when it tells me to unplug the device, hold the back button (up arrow) and plug in the usb, phone comes on, computer recognises, phone stays with blue led lit... nothing happens..
Use flashtool to flash stock kernel. Search for. 10 and. 54 kernels on forum
Sent from my Xperia Sola (XDA for Android)
Flash .10 kernel first. Root your phone with "root many android" trheads method and watch the tut vid. Then flash. 54 kernel. I couldnt find "root many android" topic with my phone, so just search for it. When using flashtool to flash kernels, first install drivers from drivers folder, then boot your phone in flashmode. Hope this helps

Features:
- Lollipop boot animation,
- rooted,
- customizable with Xposed Installer,
- eyes friendly,
- multilingual,
- installed play store&servieces.
You can use MonsterUI Xposed mod to make this ROM look like lollipop!
Issues:
- no camera app installed (I use JB+ camera)
Installation processCaution - to install you have to unlock your phone! If you don't know how to do it check out here
1. Your K900 has to be unlocked, so a rooted 4.3 Android version is required (e.g. QuBex-ROM v8)
2. Install TWRP recovery (download) - create sdfuse folder in phone's main memory and place .inb file there; turn off your phone, then press all at once power vol- vol+ to enter fastboot and choose SDUPDATE.
3. Download ROM and copy it to phone's memory, power off your phone.
4. Enter fastboot (power vol- vol+) and from there choose "recovery".
5. In TWRP tap "WIPE" and after that "INSTALL" and select ROM zip.
First boot may take a while.I'm not responsible if you do something wrong and brick your device. If you have any questions or problems ask me and I will help you.
Info - there's a special version of Xposed for this phone (download) - the normal ones brick it...
Ok anyone??

Downgrade to 17.1.2.A.0.314, it is still available on XperiFirm. Almost all Android firmwares have all available Languages, so don't worry.
